B Bar is located smack dab in the middle of the Borgata casino floor. And like the hotel itself, it is modern, upscale, lounge-y, and sure to hit a certain, self-imposed douche / douchette quota night after night. For Atlantic City, the drink prices are pretty reasonable. There's a decent mix of house and hip hop that proves more atmospheric than dance-worthy. Ashtrays remind patrons this is a safe haven for smokers. And when the desert expanse of tables and slot machines gets too hot, B Bar is a welcome in-house oasis.
That being said, this lounge should not be your exclusive reason to come to AC, in my opinion. This is very much casino purgatory (as if a casino wasn't purgatory-esque enough itself). If you're going to get all dolled up to go out drinking and dancing, you are wasting your time choosing B Bar as your nightlife destination. In this respect, B Bar is merely the airport gate for your eventual arrival at one of Borgata's clubs. Still, it should not be discredited for what it truly is, which is a solid pre-game spot.
The video poker interfaces at the bar are a nice touch if that's where you want to isolate yourself, but there's a whole casino floor full of slots where cocktail waitresses hand gamblers drinks for free. Plus, for those of us looking to drink at this lounge, these machines create a front-line barrier of patrons, making it difficult to just signal for a drink. If you can score one of the seated areas along the circular perimeter of B Bar, you'll fare much better with a server at your beck and call.
Every group that touches down in AC drags along a person or two who doesn't particularly like to gamble or party too hard. These people tend to find B Bar to be just the right speed. Personally, I prefer to pick up the pace a bit. Still, this place serves a purpose for most people - whether it's simply batting practice for yours truly, or full-on game-time for someone healthier, with a lifestyle devoid of such self-destructive vices. To each his own, I suppose...
