The Best Korean Restaurants in Santa Clara | Eater SF

"Once again, the strip malls of Santa Clara show their strength with another specialized restaurant, this one focused on the soul-fortifying chicken-ginseng soup known as samgyetang, each bowl of which includes an entire Cornish hen, cooked to falling-apart tenderness, plus whole garlic cloves, rice, and assorted medicinal roots and herbs. A steaming bowl of the stuff hits the spot on cold night, though traditionally, Koreans are known to seek it out on the very hottest days of the year — the better to restore all the nutrients your body has sweated off." - Luke Tsai

Yelp
Came here on a recommendation from a friend for chicken soup because my stomach was feeling a bit queasy. I honestly had no idea what to expect and passed this place 9999 times before. Dish comes out - "wow they put a whole chicken in here!" The meat seemed really tender to the poke but...there's rice in the little chicken! So cool. Broth was flavorful and not heavy - perfect thing for a sick day or just something to feel comfy/cozy in the mouth. My feet kept sticking out and the waitress/hostess said excuse me many times which made me feel guilty. Overall service was really snappy and our food came out very fast. I'm curious to try the noodles on the next go about

Yelp
BN Chicken has been on my radar for awhile. I stopped by for lunch around 12:00 pm on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We got the black garlic samgyetang ($29.99) and the regular one ($26.99). My black garlic samgyetang came with additional black garlic and we were given kimchi and radish kimchi on the side. Overall, I really enjoyed my black garlic samgyetang! The cornish game hens were super tender, I easily split mine with my chopsticks and spoon. It was satisfying seeing the rice, jujubes, and ginseng piece inside the cavity. The soup was comforting, clean tasting, and pleasantly garlicky. The regular soup was lighter in color and less garlicky, but still flavorful. This would be a great meal to have when you're feeling under the weather. I didn't think the soup was underseasoned at all but there's salt on the side if desired. The kimchi and radish kimchi were on the saltier side anyway so everything balanced out. We also ordered a side of vermicelli ($4.99 I think). They arrived to the table in a bowl of broth. They were chewy and bouncy, I thought it was a nice addition to the soup. I've tried going an hour before closing during dinner service but they ran out of chickens for samgyetang, so definitely go earlier if you can. Service was fine, they were polite and I had no issues. I liked that they had a small metal container on the table for us to put our chicken bones in.

Yelp
This place is here for ever. Still Service simple and delicious herbal chicken soup. Go and check it out Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 4 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (3 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are below average . ( must be inflation ) 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of Korean food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare in Korea. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Yelp
We came for weekend lunch, and although the restaurant was packed, we were seated right away with no wait. I ordered the plain chicken soup, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was incredibly tender, with even the cartilage cooked to a soft perfection. The soup itself was rich with flavor, thanks to the rice, dates, ginseng, and other ingredients stuffed inside the chicken. The sweetness of the dates and ginseng added a unique depth to the broth. The portion size was generous and very satisfying. My partner tried the chicken noodles, which were wonderfully garlicky and packed with vegetables and mushrooms--a hearty and flavorful dish. The service was impressively fast and very friendly, making the dining experience even better. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving comforting, high-quality Korean chicken soup.

Yelp
I arrived 10 mins before closing at 1:50pm and was given a nasty stare by one of the workers there. I was not greeted at all! Another worker (owner?) rushes out and told us "Take out only!" as they are closing down. So, I ordered a regular chicken ginseng soup to go and she told me "5 minutes". Sure enough, less than 5 minutes later, the soup was all packaged up to go. I felt that they did not want my business at all and just pushed me to leave as quickly as possible! If it came out that fast, they could've sat me down and let me enjoy my soup! By the way, there were 3 other couples there still enjoying their meals halfway, chatting etc and didnt seem ready to leave! For $26.99 plus tax it was not cheap. It was watered down soup, and compared to the Samgyetang I had in Korea ($14 USD, flavorful soup, good service), this was not worth it. I would skip this spot for the lack of customer service. They care more about closing up shop than serving their customers!

Yelp
Our friends raved about BN Chicken! We decided to go for lunch one day. All of us ordered their Samgyetang or Ginseng Chicken Soup. Basically, it is a whole young chicken filled with sticky rice, garlic, rice, jujube and ginseng. Samgye-tang is a Korean traditional soup for body health. It came out bubbling hot and flavorful. It was a tad pricey but it warmed your soul. The service was friendly and helpful. The parking is ok, as the shopping plaza is long but during peak hours, I can see the parking being challenging. Overall, 3.5 stars. It was a good experience.

Yelp
Legit Korean food that is so comforting and refreshing at the same time. We came for lunch on a weekend and it wasn't super busy. It's a simple restaurant without any frills. Service was friendly and quick. Food came out as it was ready. Loved the perilla seed samgyetang. Their kimchis are nice and fresh which pairs perfectly. Fried chicken was juicy. I usually don't care for kalguksu but this one was great as well. The bimbim naengmyeon also wasn't too sweet or saucy. All in all, great spot!

Yelp
Lunch with mini me before her after school activity. We ordered to share the regular ginseng chicken and the wings with salad. This is a comfort food for me. The soup was well seasoned. I sprinkled the salt paper on the chicken only. The wings were crispy and tasty and the salad was shredded cabbage with looked like thousand island dressing. It's the perfect size for us since we're not that hungry. The service was good and the ambiance was very casual. The foods are good for cold weather or when you're feeling down. So comforting! We'll be back.

Yelp
We were greeted, sat down immediately, and given hot tea as we decided on what to order. I thought the tea they had tasted like there was cinnamon in it. It was refreshing and delicious! I couldn't decide on which flavor I wanted the chicken soup to be so I asked the server for their suggestion. They said that their black garlic is their most popular amongst the four so here we are! Black Garlic Ginseng Chicken Soup(4/5): It comes in boiling hot so be careful when consuming! The flavor is light with the taste of ginseng. They have a mix of salt and pepper that you can add into the soup or have it on the side. I chose to put it on the side because I wanted to dip my chicken in the seasoning, and taste the soup as it is! They give you black garlic on the side so it's up to you how much you want in your soup. I tried the garlic after it's been in the soup and it tasted sweet! The soup comes with a whole chicken and inside it was a nice surprise. There was sticky rice mixed with garlic and what looks like jujubes. The soup felt very comforting and just reminded me of home. A really good dish to have on a cold day! Overall a great experience and I would come here again to enjoy their other dishes!

Yelp
Small Korean mom&pop type restaurant bringing delicious chicken dishes to your belly, specializing in gingseng chicken soup (Samgyetang). Also has noodles (hot soup or cold) and fried chicken. It's a small operation, but they keep it simple and sweet; there aren't a million variations nor tons of banchan...but what they do is done pretty darn well. Funnily enough we originally sought out BN Chicken for their fried chicken, but didn't really know what they were about. We definitely pivoted to try out their signature gingseng chicken soup and it's fantastically cozy and outshines the fried chicken by a country mile (it's still good, but the ginseng soup is special). Wings with salad - 4/5 Pretty much exactly as described...simple without many fixings or flavors like other spots, but pretty solid nonetheless. Salad was slivered cabbage/carrot with a mild dressing. It's a clean and plain presentation, but gets the job done. The batter is middle of the road, as is the level of grease. Moisture was pretty good too, though it was on the saltier side of things (kind of like Krispy Krunchy). Very freshly fried and came out quite piping hot like the samgyetang. Black garlic Samgyetang - 5/5 Star of the show by far and I didn't even know it coming in (but I could sure smell it). The wonderful aroma permeates the whole store, but you only really get it when you see the bubbling goodness in front of you. The base soup has a whole chicken stuffed with herbal goodness, meaning plentiful pickings as you work your way through the steaming bowl. The options beyond "regular" are add-ons to the base soup and the black garlic is indeed quite the wondrous aromatic to be had and I'd highly recommend it for the rich flavor it adds to the broth. Overall it's such a cozy and hearty soup I'd highly recommend it to anybody with that Asian craving.

Yelp
I've visited BN Chicken a few times and it always hit the spot, for both cold and hot weathers! The Samgyetang is the perfect hot soup for the cold weather or a post night out. A bowl of steaming hot broth with a whole chicken stuffed with rice and veggies... yum. The chicken is usually soft, but I noticed that it has been overly cooked at times the last few times I've visited. The Naengmyeon is very refreshing and something I look forward to during the summer! It's light, icy, and filling! The fried chicken is very crispy and pairs well with the side salad, but I do wish there was a side of sauce or something extra to dip it with.

Yelp
Have been here few times, food was good. The soup, seafood noodle and fried chicken wings were all decent, cold noodle was mid and lacking flavor. Service was hit or miss. Came total of 4 times, 2 of those times were fine but the other two times we were rushed to leave. The most recent time, we were there an hour before closing time (9pm) but at 8:30 they started rushing us to pay and leave. As we were chatting and ready to get up, the lady came and word for word said "we need to clean up, can you leave?" (it was 8:40 at the time and still have a few table eating). Feels a bit disrespected by the way she said it and the tone.

Yelp
TLDR: Ginseng Chicken Soup. Chicken Katsu Remember this day... take a selfie with this Yelp review, because this is a momentous day! My wife has given 5 stars to a restaurant, without any convincing by moi! Yes that's right, BN has gotten the Wife 5-Star of the decade award! Honestly, I thought this was a 4 star restaurant. But apparently my wife LOVED LOVED their ginseng Chicken soup. It's a great healthy soup for the winter time. And the chicken was boiled very well, not dry at all. I myself don't like soups that much. What I loved was this place has a bit of diversity for such a small menu. Normally I would end up having to order a soup as well, but I'm so glad they had not 1 but 2 "dry" dishes. I happily ordered the Chicken Katsu. It was really crispy. The meat was a little bit dry, but it was totally fine. Not going to dock points for it. A solid 4 stars. I also like that it came with the Katsu dipping sauce. I don't like it when a chef is pretentious enough to think that their Katsu is so divine that it doesn't NEED sauce! I NEED SAUCE! The salad it came with was servicable. It's veggies and my colon is happy! We also ordered the chicken wings, because... it's our first time here and we like to try a lot of different things. My wife liked the chicken... it has a very light flavor (just salt). I prefer heavy flavors and sauces. But again the chicken was cooked right, the skin was crispy. You can really TASTE the chicken (hint hint). It also came with a salad, which is a bit strange, but yay! more fiber! The place is small. But luckily we came at 6p on a Tues, so it wasn't too crowded. still had about 3 empty tables. All in all, I think this might be a new place for my wife to add to her rotation, especially as it's close to her work. And it serves healthy soups!

Yelp
Amazing ginseng chicken soup! Came here after hearing about it for months and I'm so happy to have found it. Came here around 6pm on a weekday. When I walked in, I immediately felt a sense of nostalgia with the smell. It reminded me a lot of coming home to my grandma in Chinatown, and her having soup ready for us to drink. The menu is limited and there are really only 6-7 full entree options but if their ginseng soup is any representation of what their other items will be like, I have no worries that everything is delicious. Of course I had to opt for their signature Samgtyetang. I got the regular which came with a whole Cornish hen(?) stuffed with sticky rice, and a roasted garlic. The soup took a while to come out and I realized it was because it was MADE TO ORDER! When the bowls arrived, they were bubbling from the heat still. You get a side of kimchi and radish with the soup order but make sure you order an extra side of rice for a fuller meal. The meal was light, flavorful, and reminded me of the soups I would have growing up. My friends got the cold noodle and they said it was good with a mix of a mustard and vinegar taste. I didn't get to try it because I was too full but at least I took a pic :) Will be back again forsure!

Yelp
I've never tasted food this bad. The chicken in the Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) was a small bird with tough, dry meat, and the soup had no ginseng flavor--just MSG. The cold noodles came with chunks of ice in them. As for the complimentary kimchi, it was overly salty; after one bite, I couldn't take a second. While the elderly server was very friendly, the food was so disappointing that I won't be coming back. I regret that I forgot to take photos.

Yelp
닭칼국수 (chicken noodle soup) is delicious and perfect on a rainy day. The owner is extremely friendly and the ginseng tea is a nice touch.
google avatar

Wei S.

Yelp
Did they just change owner/chef? The ginseng chicken soup we got today was just crap. Very salty nearly clear soup. Chicken meat was apparently cooked in a hurry and tasted very rough and dry. Definitely not the same kind we've enjoyed for years. Not coming again.

Yelp
Omg this was exactly what I needed to nurse a cold on a chilly evening. Menu is a bit limited, but I'm all for it when a place does a few things well that you can't find anywhere else! I'd never heard of Samgyetang before, but it's my new favorite winter dish. It was a hearty chicken broth with a generous portion of very tender and flavorful chicken. There's also rice at the bottom of the soup. There's a few add ons and we got the black garlic. It comes as a side, and is not cooked into the broth. I haven't had black garlic before but it was sweet and I didn't think it added to the dish. We also had the Seafood Noodle dish. The broth in this was also very hearty, and different than the Samgyetang. The seafood was a bit sparse consisted of real crab, some octopus and squid legs, mussels. The noodles were flat, medium width and very soft which I liked. Service was basic/minimal but they were nice.
google avatar

Phuong B.

Yelp
Ordered the original samgyetang and the broth was just, ok. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. It felt like it could have been way more flavorful, like they almost had it there but then stopped. So, I'd give the chicken soup a 5/10. On the bright side, the kimchi (they had two kinds!) was fantastic! That definitely bumped up the whole experience for me.

Yelp
Bubbling Samgyetang... piping hot Fried Chicken... refreshing Naengmyun (cold noodles)... this place has an effortlessly delicious menu! My coworkers and I came here for a lunch outing and they were able to seat 8 of us at a table (we called ahead of time over the phone). They only give kimchi and kkakdugi with your meal. I like that they keep it simple. I ordered the Fried Chicken with Salad, which came with 6 pieces: three drumsticks and three flats. Each piece was juicy and you could tell it was freshly fried. It was steaming with every bite. Honestly, it was too salty for my preferences, but it was decent overall. The "salad" that it comes with is thinly sliced cabbage and carrot with dressing. The Naengmyun is pretty delicious here! Keep in mind: they only have this on the menu during the summer! They don't add much broth, but there's a decent amount of slushy ice. I love that they layer the beef in egg! Pretty unique and adds nice texture. Interesting that they add pineapple too~

Yelp
BN Chicken is a mom-and-pop restaurant specializing in ginseng chicken soup and cold noodles. I've had the pleasure of trying both of their specialties. Their ginseng chicken soup is incredibly flavorful and comforting on a cold day. You can order different variations of it, such as black garlic, perilla seed, etc. The cold noodles are also delicious if you opt to go for those instead. I think the food is a bit pricey, especially for the cold noodles, but I realize the ginseng chicken soups probably take quite some prep time. Definitely recommend it if you're looking for some good Korean ginseng chicken soup!

Yelp
Back in Jan, my Korean friend told me about a restaurant in Santa Clara that specializes in Ginseng Chicken Soup. This place has been on my bookmarked list for 6 months. I was having a meet up with friends which gave me reason to finally hit up this place. The dish - herbal but not too earthy, there is a ginseng in each pot, chicken falls off the bone just by scrapping it with a utensil, small young tender chicken (I wonder if it is organic free range), broth tops the comfort level, stuffed sticky rice, yes! Free kimchi and pickled radish which pops this humble simple soup.
google avatar

Jocelyn S.

Yelp
BN chicken serves super cozy Korean chicken ginseng soup and noodles. Their kimchi is amazing - I loved the balance of sweet, sour, spicy, and savory. The ginseng soup had a whole tiny chicken in it and it was really fun to eat with its mini chicken legs and wings. Service was great, super fast and attentive. I came on a weekday lunch and it was mostly middle-aged salary folks. The vibe inside is pretty straightforward and no-frills. No issues with parking in this plaza.

Yelp
Still the best samgyetang in Bay Area. I've been coming to this place when I am craving for ginseng chicken soup (samgyetang). Portion enough for 2 meals for me. This place was packed during lunch time. The basic sam gyetang cost $27 plus tax plus tips. So be aware before dining here. Only has one server an elderly man who serve the whole restaurant, probably to keep this place open as rent is expensive. I hope this place will open for a long time.

Yelp
This place seemed to go through a makeover after the last time I came which was more than 10'years ago. Now the ambiance is much brighter and nicer, still run by the couple with the man doing the front service most of the time. Only 2 kimchi banchan and a simple menu, they focused on ch item soup. We tried the traditional Sam gyu tang (stew chicken soup) with black garlic, and the hand pulled chicken soup. They are both tasty and hearty. The Sam gyu tang came with a whole hen stuffed with sticky rice and black garlic chunks are served on the side. We chose to mix in the soup and it was a good blend of flavor and not overpowering as I was worried. There's no ginseng or red dates in this, unless you pay extra, which is different from the ones we got in Korea that there's always ginseng and other herbs inside. The chicken noodle soup with hand pulled noodle is also big in portion with vegetables and chicken meat. The noodle is slightly el dente and simple yet warm for a cold day. By 12pm there is a line forming, so come early.

Yelp
One of my Korean gems! I grew up eating Samgyetang (Korean chicken soup) so I'm truly grateful to have it at BN Chicken. I recently went with my sister for Saturday lunch cause she was down in the South Bay for the afternoon! They have a pretty simple menu (which I personally think is often the sign of a legit restaurant) with Samgyetang being the star dish. You can also get fried chicken or noodle dishes (they also have Naengmyun Korean cold noodles!). It's definite a no frills/hole in the wall type restaurant so don't expect anything super fancy but I can confirm the food is solid! Samgyetang is also a must have whenever you're under the weather.
google avatar

YooBin K.

Yelp
The price is pretty up there for one bowl of Samgyetang but it was perfect to eat on a sick day. Also I went during chobok, the official hottest day of summer for a healthy rest of the season. They have rice in the chicken that's really flavorful and they pack kimchi and radish kimchi for Togo orders.

Linda G.

Yelp
My friend and I greatly enjoyed the soups that we ordered. It was perfect for a cold night.

Yelp
Short Story: I wish I could give this place 7 stars! Long Story: I've been coming here for the past 5 years and every time it's been a fantastic experience! I love their samgyetang, chicken katsu, and their noodle soups. The price of their samgyetang has held steady throughout the pandemic. The samgyetang is a good size for one person and has a large ginseng. The chicken is also stuffed with sticky rice, dates, and other herbs. Their specialty is samgyetang and they frequently run out by 7pm. So be sure to call and order ahead. In addition, their restaurant is on the smaller side so seating is limited. They have a small menu but that every item is fantastic! Verdict: I'm writing this review while waiting in line!

Yelp
Finally got to try this place, I was craving Samgyetang but never had it in a restaurant before. I came here once but it was too busy so I told myself I'll come back another time. Stopped by on a Saturday for lunch was seated within 5-10 mins. The staff was friendly it was the older man and woman. He gave us menus and asked if we wanted hot tea or water (got the hot tea). Ordered Regular Samgyetang + Red Ginseng Chicken noodle soup Side of vermicelli He asked if we wanted an extra bowl to share (yes please). The hot food comes rolling out on the cart, food came out pretty fast. They also give 2 small side dishes or kimchi and radish. Wow the Samgyetang chicken was so soft, so good and delicious. I've never had red ginesing before, it comes on the side and it was a bit bitter but I ate it all. The sticky rice was good and garlicky. Soup was very flavorful. I couldn't finish everything so I got a takeout container for the other half. Staff was friendly and food was delicious, would definitely come back when craving Samgyetang.

Yelp
3.5/5 I'm trying to find something comparable to what I had when I was in Korea. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at BN Chicken. It doesn't compare to what I had in Korea, but I did think the soup was flavorful, the kimchi went really good with the meal, and managed to eat everything that was given to me with zeal! I think more so the nature of this dish, but the chicken can be a bit dry and I kinda wish there was just more sticky rice / chicken (the hen they use here is a bit small). But overall satisfied with my meal.
google avatar

Ying Xin F.

Yelp
One of the best ginseng chicken soup in Bay Area! They serve the soup pipping hot and bubbling. Chicken is so tender and stuffed with a generous amount of glutinous rice. My favorite is the flavorful soup, that really hits the spot on a chilly day! Such a healthy and nutritious meal! My only complaint would be that there are only 2 kimchi side dishes, when most Korean restaurants in the bay have upwards of 5 side dishes nowadays. Lots of parking available and it wasn't crowded when I was there on Saturday for dinner.

Yelp
The food and service has significantly changed. I used to come here for their chicken soup but recently their food quality went down and definitely not tasty at all. The rice tasted old, the chicken noodle soup was bland and their fried chicken was way too overcooked with what seemed like really old oil. On top of the food, the server was very unpleasant and rude. Constantly frowning and looking annoyed anytime we asked for something. They gave us cracked bowls and the utensils were not properly cleaned. Honestly with all the korean restaurant options, will not be coming back here. Yuck!
google avatar

Brenda Jiwon L.

Yelp
This placed used to be good for samgyetang, but not anymore. I got the original Chicken soup and I was underwhelmed as they used cornish hen as the chicken. Therefore, the portion is small, and there wasn't that much meat. I also really disliked how they season everything beforehand. It was way too salty for my tastebuds, and you can clearly tell that they used a lot of MSG in the soup. The owners are super nice, but they definitely aren't doing the best in cooking the chicken soup. Definitely don't order one of the specialty soups like the Black garlic chicken soup-- you may a lot more for just a small side of 2 black garlic which just tasted like raisins and was too sweet. As a side menu, we also ordered the chicken wings and they gave us just 6 pieces of wings and you pay close to $18. I know I'm no longer visiting this place again.

Yelp
We went here for lunch on a week day. We were a bit under the weather and wanted to have something soothing and this place was the perfect remedy. Our order consisted of a couple of samgyetang red ginseng and chicken katsu. The soups was served hot with one whole bird each. There was additional red ginseng served with each of the soups. The soup itself tasted great and was very well seasoned. Not too spicy or salty spicy. We could make out the use of authentic spices being used and found a few in the process of finishing our entrees. The bird was soft and the softer bones like the wings were almost chewable. They do serve give you additional bowls so it is easier to eat the bird and drink the soup separately. The bird was stuffed with sticky rice as is tradition. The rice tasted a little sweet and lended another layer of taste to the entree. This soup is served with kimchi which is refillable. The place was pretty busy (yes even on a weekday lunch) and we'd to request our server to serve us the accompaniments which he graciously obliged to. The chicken katsu was delicious as well. The chicken tasted perfect and was not dry at all. The coating was thin and did not overpower the main ingredient viz. chicken. This place is a bit costlier as compared to other warm/soup places but be sure it'll give you the bang for every buck you spend here. Ambience: Small place but kept very clean and tidy. The setup of both the seating area and the kitchen gives this place a very local feel. Quantity: Good for the price. Parking: Ample Times visited: 1

Yelp
We were in for a real treat this afternoon at this amazing place. Warm, piping hot, soothing and uniquely flavorful chicken broth with mini whole chickens stuffed with slightly sweet flavorful rice and exquisite ingredients made our day so much better! We went specifically for their chicken soup samgyetang and my husband and I ordered one each with red ginseng. This was the first time trying ginseng so we mixed it with the broth directly. The flavors were there and they were yummy! Kimchi and water had to be asked to be served but our server was nice and refilled our kimchi and radish too. We helped ourselves with the spoons and the chopsticks as they too were not provided with the soup. They are all kept in containers near the entrance door and you shouldn't be able to miss it. We also ordered the chicken kotsu and it was super crisp and delicious! It was served with a small salad, rice and also a sauce that was amazing. Everything looked and felt authentic and the taste was there! It was between 68-70 degrees when we dined today and I did not feel hot even after having a bowl full of hot broth. I love the weather in California and now I think I have a favorite place for warm soulful soup too. I saw them giving to go orders and the soup was packed to perfection in a bowl large enough to carry in the vehicle. I was impressed and will be back soon.

Yelp
TL;DR: A solid Korean samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) place in Santa Clara! Thoughts: I had been eyeing this place for a while and finally I gotta try out this place! We came here on a Friday evening for dinner and we were seated right away. Plenty of parking available. We ordered the regular samgyetang (+ a side of vermicelli noodles) and chicken katsu with rice. The chicken in the samgyetang was very tender and the soup was light yet flavorful. I like how the ginseng flavor was not too overpowering! Inside the chicken there was sticky rice that soaked in the chicken + ginseng flavor. The katsu chicken was fried perfectly. One sad news: No fish cakes among the two banchans served :(. I will come back if I am craving for some samgyetang!

Yelp
Only reason this lacks a star is I think it's a little pricy for the food they offer. Aside from that, not many places in the Bay offers a healthy natural chicken broth. They give you a whole (tiny) free range, organic, chicken. Very hearty and wholesome meal.

Yelp
I have been looking for a samgyetang restaurant for the longest time and I am overjoyed in finding this one. The waiter was a really nice old man that was so polite and accommodating! I would return alone just for him. The samgyetang was delicious with sweet flavors from the date and the sticky rice inside the chicken was bomb. We ordered extra rice because we were very hungry and the rice came with corn, which was fun. Really fun to eat in a hot summer day or cold fall night. If you are searching for a samgyetang place this is it.

Yelp
My husband and I were searching for outdoor dinning restaurants in the area and found BN Chicken. We arrived at around 8pm on a Wednesday night, there was one table with a party of two outside dinning. They had a table blocking the entrance with sanitizers, pens, and menus for customers. The gentleman who seemed to be the owner saw me, immediately put on the mask and greeted me. I asked if they can have another table outside for us, he said yes and came outside to set one up within minutes. They provided us with plastic cups for our water, one time use chopsticks and cleaned spoons, table was covered by one time use paper "cloth" as well. Whenever the gentlemen brought us anything, he was wearing mask and disposable gloves. They provided complimentary kimchi, which was very fresh and tasty. I ordered their regular gingseng chicken soup (#1) and my husband ordered their special gaibitang (beef rib soup), and a bottle of sake to share. The soups came in steamy hot pots boiling with freshness. I have never had a gingseng chicken soup at a Korean restaurant this flavorful before; the whole chicken was filled with sticky rice, meat was extremely tender, and the soup was sweet and filled with gingsheng taste (which I like). My husband enjoyed the beef rib soup too, he said the beef ribs were also tender and tasty, and they gave good amount of meat (it came with a bowl of rice). When I was paying, the gentleman asked how we liked the food, which gave us a warm feeling since not that many restaurants care how we feel after dinning nowadays. We will definitely come back here for more, next time I will try their black garlic soup and fried chicken wings.

Yelp
Don't go to this place if you don't want to be treated by rude and unprofessional staff. I went to this place and waited at the door patiently. Then a couple cut the line and directly head to a table in front of us, the lady at the front desk just let them sit politely. So we thought that's how you get a table at this place and also went directly to a table and ask her if we could sit there. She then yelled at us to wait. I said "you already have someone sit like this. Why this double standards???". She responded with nothing so we left immediately. Very rude and bad services. Just don't go there if you don't want to pay for someone yelling at you. What a shame.

Yelp
COVID-19 OUTDOOR PATIO DINING Ahhh what it's like to be young again... In my 20s, I would come home at 6 AM after a night of heavy drinking, shower, and be in the office by 7:30 AM.... bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. That was the case for most of us, yea? In my 30s, after 2 shots...I'm peeing like I have a UTI and wake up looking like I stuck my finger in the wall socket. Then, I feel awful for the rest of the day with hangxiety. When hungover, some people turn to pho. But, have you heard of Samgyetang? This Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup is where it's at to help nurse your hangover! This underrated soup that Koreans eat during hot days to cool their body is like chicken soup on medicinal steroids. A young chicken is stuffed with sweet glutinous rice, ginseng, red dates, and chestnuts...served bubbling hot in a earthenware bowl. Samgyetang is BN Chicken's specialty and it's THE thing to get here. It's very popular with native Koreans; particularly the older generations. During COVID, this mom and pop restaurant has been offering takeout only. They're pretty old skool with no social media presence. There's one table outside for dining (4 people) under a canopy. I knew I would be drinking (2 shots) this weekend so I made reservations. Two parties arrived while we were waiting for our food, wanting to eat outside so I highly recommend making reservations. The owner told us to take our time but we quickly finished in 20 minutes so the next party could be seated. I hope they're able to get the proper permit to expand their outdoor seating to accommodate more diners. C O V I D - 1 9 S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S * All staff wore their masks properly; covering their nose and mouth. * Customers are required to wear masks. * Utensils are fully wrapped and served in a plastic-lined holder. The liner is changed after each customer. * Drinks are served in paper cups. * Owner serves food with gloves. * Tables and chairs are disinfected after each customer. * For pick-up, there's a table blocking the entry with hand sanitizer. F O O D There's 4 kinds of Samgyetang (NO MSG): Original, Perilla Seeds, Black Garlic, and Ginseng. We ordered the latter two. Each order serves one person. * Complimentary Banchan: Kimchi, Kimchi Radish, and Pickled Purple Cabbage All three were solid and were the perfect accompaniment to the KFC. * Black Garlic Samgyetang ($21.99): https://bit.ly/3fblOn6 Black garlic has twice the antioxidants of regular garlic and per the menu, helps reduce the duration of colds (up to 71%), kill carb cravings, and fight cancer. The nutrient-dense samgyetang broth was incredibly soothing, rich, and chicken-y. Very clean tasting and not salty. The young chicken was uber soft and tender. It was so soft that you could easily pull part with chopsticks and eat the bones. It was stuffed with sticky rice, sweet dates, and nutty chestnuts: https://bit.ly/3g3lurK. The black garlic tasted like a cross between a date and tamarind. It added a slightly bitter, balsamic vinegar taste to the soup. * Ginseng Samgyetang ($27.99) Per the menu, Ginseng helps strengthen your immune system and has been used for unclear thinking, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, preventing the common cold and flu, and reduces the severity of herpes symptoms. This was my favorite of the two. The broth and stuffed chicken mirrored the Black Garlic Samgyetang but this broth had an earthy, sweeter profile. * Fried Chicken Wings (6pc - $12.99): https://bit.ly/3g5FNEU The wings were very meaty with a super light, crunchy exterior. Neither greasy or oily. The frying technique is on point. S E R V I C E The owner is super sweet, gracious, and hard-working. He greeted me by name when we checked-in for our reservations and he made sure we knew this is a chicken soup place. I'm guessing some customers come in expecting something else. Like many businesses, he said, COVID has really hurt them. He said, they're only busy for 1 hour during lunchtime. After we ordered, our food was delivered piping hot in less than 10 minutes. And, he checked in with us to make sure we enjoyed his wife's cooking. One couple opted to eat in their car and the owner rushed out to setup a tray for them. After we finished eating, the party after us tried to seat themselves but the owner hurried over to stop them, telling them he had to disinfect everything first. With COVID, I really appreciate how hypervigilant he is. BN Chicken is the type of humble mom and pop shop that I love supporting - delicious, traditional food with great customer service. Besides, Samgyetang is not the easiest thing to find. If you're looking to nurse your hangover or for a comforting, nutrient-dense meal, please come out and support BN Chicken.

Yelp
We got to the shop 7 minutes before it was to close. There were still customers eating inside. Thanks to the owner, he still let us in. We made sure we ate quickly and didn't affect the staff on closing the store. We had the ginseng chicken soup with black garlic. Kimchi and pickled radish came with the order. The soup came in a dolsot bowl and was boiling hot and the heat lasted until we were done. The chicken was very soft, with dates, ginseng and rice. Very tasty and satisfying.

Yelp
The soup here is really good and healthy but the menu is quite limited and the portions are on the large side. I think if there would be an smaller option with half the chicken I would come here more often.

Yelp
Their famous ginseng chicken soup was pretty good. The chicken wings and chicken katsu were amazing-- lightly fried and delicious. They need another server on a Friday night, the poor lady was a one woman show greeting customers at the door, taking orders, cleaning tables, hosting, all by herself. She looked frantic but still had a smile on her face. We arrived at 5:30 pm and it filled up fast an hour later. I would recommend coming early if you don't want to wait. Tables were cramped as it's a smaller space.

Yelp
Limited choices but I would say the service was fast. The restaurant is small and has cozy feel to it!
