Baa Bars can be very hit and miss. The one in the Gay Village in Manchester for example - fantastic, but its counterpart on Deansgate Locks? Rubbish. So how on earth was Baa Bar in Liverpool going to fare?
It's had a recent refurb, this one, so it's looking brand spanking fresh. It's sandwiched between the fashionable Seel Street and Wood Street so it's in a good location, definitely a bit of a hotspot. As with a lot of Baa Bars there's a mirrored wall, plenty of groovy decor and bright colours, clearly lit giant menus of shots and cocktails you can order and funky pop music with some popular rock thrown in.
It's a large Baa Bar, this one, split level with a downstairs large bar and two bars upstairs, as well as tables and chairs on the terrace for smokers. Speaking of comfort you're never short of a leather sofa or two to slouch on, and the place is surprisingly clean for a bar popular with students and youngsters. Speaking of the clientele, you'll find all walks of life here, and all kinds of identities. As you no doubt already know Baa Bar is the place for shots, from creamy and sweet morsels of deliciousness to the ones that you dare your friends to try. Urgh. There's nothing on tap but plenty of bottled beers and alcopops to keep your whistle wet.
This one's one of the better Baa Bars. Its location and its excellent upkeep means it maintains a lively atmosphere and it's a great place to have a silly night out. Enjoy.
