Baan Mae Café & Restaurant

Loved this restaurant and have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Superb Thai food served in the well maintained garden setting of a former grand home, by friendly, attentive staff. All the food was top notch, but highlights included the Massaman Curry with tender, slow cooked pork and cinnamon, the crispy fish with herbs and for desserts the pandan/coconut pudding and a light, refreshing dessert made with (I think) lemon grass and bergamot jelly served over crushed ice. The owner/chef came out to talk with us and it was very apparent how much care he puts into the food and presentation. The restaurant was fully booked when we were there on a Tuesday night - and I can see why as this place is something really special and a highlight of our trip. Definitely worth a visit.

We loved everything about this restaurant! The atmosphere was gorgeous… the service was outstanding. It was obvious that they wanted to make sure that everything was perfect and it was. We had shiitake mushrooms, chicken and cashews(less salt would’ve been better)and Grilled New Zealand salmon steak with mango salsa which was stellar!! We will definitely return when we’re in the area!!

Is there any better restaurant than this in Santitham, Chiang Mai?I am sure.... Beyond its classic atmosphere, I wonder if there's truly a restaurant that can match this place. Even after trying brunch at 4-star and 5-star hotels, nothing surpasses the food at Baan Mai Restaurant. What makes this place even more special is an unforgettable staff member named Moo. She is incredibly kind and attentive. I still remember last year-end when our food was delayed - she was so genuinely apologetic about it. She treats guests like an owner would, with such care and warmth. I want to express my deepest gratitude to her. Today, she recognized me right away and greeted me so warmly! Her sense of responsibility is outstanding, and I will never forget her. Everything at Baan Mai Restaurant is delicious. The Tom Yum Goong is especially perfect for Korean palates. Even the cocktails are beautiful and taste amazing. The Pad Thai is exceptionally delicious too. I first visited this place a year ago, and now whenever I come to Chiang Mai for my monthly stays, visiting this restaurant is always a highlight of happiness. Just as Chiang Mai has its hidden gems, Baan Mai is #1 on my list of must-visit restaurants. It's the best of the best in Santitham!

Arrived at the restaurant to be seated very quickly at a lovely table in the window overlooking the gardens. We were concerned the place would be busy however there was plenty of room and we were made very welcome by the staff, especially Sue who took time to explain to us the food on the menu. We had fried fish, Tom Yum soup, stirfry chicken and vegetable fried rice which was plenty of food for both of us and accompanied by delightful cocktails! It was a very tasty and affordable dining experience, we would go back again if we had more time in Chiang Mai!

If you’re looking for a hidden gem with amazing food and vibes, look no further! This spot knocked it out of the park—food was delicious, the garden scenery was so lovely it made the meal even more enjoyable. We visited twice for lunch and dinner, Toh was very helpful and was so patient with all our questions and super attentive too. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Will definitely come back again.

Definitely 5 stars!!! I absolutely love the amazing food and vibrant vibes here. But my photos are not good enough to show how wonderful this place is. The fried rice is the best we've had in Chiang Mai. The service is equally excellent—the staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel incredibly comfortable. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in town. Overall, this is a perfect spot for a date or anniversary—you won't regret it!

The food at this restaurant is insanely good. Highly recommend, everything dish we ordered was full of flavor and the staff are so nice, thoughtful and attentive. Our server Dom went above and beyond and was so kind and friendly. Can’t wait to come back!

This is excellent all the way around. The sauce for the fried tofu was perfect. I had the shiitake mushrooms with vegetables and pasta was above reproach. Light jazz played in a well designed outdoor seating area. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any vegan/vegetarian.
