"Baannok serves authentic Korat-style Thai food, in which the sweetness that is typical to the region is toned down for broader tastes. To awaken the palate, try the sweet and sour Korat sausage salad. The signature Pad Mhee Korat with a giant river prawn is expertly wok-fried with duck egg and accompanied by a smooth sweet sauce. For something comforting, take the Kaeng Liang Kam Thale So, a spicy vegetable soup, fragrant with herbs and spices commonly used in Isan cooking. Advance reservation is a must." - Michelin Inspector

A dear friend brought us here and I was so impressed with the food and the service. Every detail is well thought through and you can see the effort of each dish and even in the decor. Cozy and comforting. Photos from the owner's childhood and family photos adorn the wall. Everything we ordered was so good. But come early so it's a little quieter since it gets packed quickly. This is a hidden gem that's so close to the hotel that we usually stay at, so I'm very happy!

Amazing food and amazing service! From the start, server Nuent kept us updated on the wait checking in on us every few minutes. The food is SOOOO good. Our favorite was the rice noodles with prawn wow. Besides that lived the papaya salad and beef slices appetizer. The desserts were 5/5. No notes.

I am never disappointed by this restaurant, whether it's the quality of the food, the service, or the atmosphere. I have brought my international friends here twice and recommend it to any Thai friends looking for a place suited for international guests. We ordered the Pad Mee Korat and the Five-Spice Soup. The owner of Baannok BKK, K’Jom, was very friendly; he welcomed all the guests himself and even provided a complimentary coffee pudding for dessert. It was fantastic! Highly recommended 🥳

Not quite to our personal liking, everything tasted a little too sweet and oily. For the relish, the raw vegetables didnt seem to go well with the dip, the sauce would mostly fall off the cucumber sticks/ long beans.. only the cabbage seemed to work better. For the grandma's eggs, eggs were very hard, but the meat was tender. Service was very friendly.

Overall the experience was great. The food was very good, the only thing to be aware is the som tum salad with mini crabs is quite fishy, not for everyone. Other dishes are all lovely. Service overall was good but we booked ahead of time and think they misunderstood that we are walk-in and gave us the table right next to main door, I also got a message during meal asking if I'll attend the dinner. Not a big deal, the seat was OK and the meal was still good.

An Authentic Korat Journey in the Heart of Bangkok! My husband and I recently dined at Baannok BKK, and it was precisely the kind of dining experience that reminds you why authentic regional Thai cuisine is so extraordinary. Tucked away on the second floor of Vivre Langsuan, this intimate restaurant serves genuine Korat-style dishes, recipes rooted in tradition, not tailored for foreign palates. We ordered four dishes, each a masterclass in balance and freshness. The Grilled Korat Chicken with Herbs and Spicy Sauce arrived perfectly executed: the chicken was tender and infused with aromatic herbs, while the fiery sauce delivered genuine heat without overwhelming the delicate proteins. It was served with sticky rice, which paired beautifully, the way sticky rice should. The Rice Soup with Prawns, Minced Pork, and Mushrooms proved equally impressive; this was comfort in a bowl, fragrant with those bold Isan herbs and spices that define northeastern Thai cooking. The Roasted Crispy Rice and Fermented Sausage Salad was a textural triumph, the interplay between crispy elements and the sour, garlicky punch of properly fermented sausage made this a standout dish. What struck us most was how incredibly fresh and tasty everything was. There’s no cutting corners here; you taste real ingredients, real technique, and genuine care in every bite. For dessert, we shared the Candied Banana with Coconut Espuma and that was an absolutely delicious and delightful finale that showcased the kitchen’s refinement. The tropical sweetness of the banana, the airy elegance of the espuma, the subtle coconut notes, it was the perfect conclusion to our meal. The atmosphere is warm and nostalgic without feeling stuck in the past, and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. While prices reflect the quality and authenticity, the value here is undeniable. This is serious Thai cooking in an approachable setting. Highly recommended for anyone seeking the real thing.

Food was excellent. Very flavorful, although some dishes were inherently spicy even toned down. Service was excellent. Our server, Nung, was very attentive. Portions were good. Seats and air conditioning great.

confidently say it’s one of the best in both food and service. The staff member ‘JJ’ was extremely service-minded and energetic. He took great photos for all of us and recommended excellent dishes. Love the desserts so much
