The Best Yemeni Restaurants In London

"Bab Al-Yemen has a corner where shoes are left by the door and groups gather cross-legged over a pre-ordered £300 lamb. But the well-seasoned meats—like the slow-cooked, tender lamb haneeth, or the golden chicken mandi that you’ll want to eat with flaky ratab bread and colourful, softly spiced rice—are excellent choices whether you’re rolling in a group or alone. No matter how full you get, a meal should always end with the masoob with cream and honey (a dessert of mashed bananas, shredded flatbread, cream, and honey). And if eating cross-legged on the floor isn’t your thing, there are usually plenty of walk-in tables available if you're around West Brompton." - rianne shlebak

Bab Al-Yemen Review - West Kensington - London - The Infatuation

"The bright neon sign and glossy faux marble tables at Bab Al-Yemen do a good job of making this somewhere we’d comfortably spend a couple of hours in. But the traditional Yemeni-style floor seating is what’ll make you want to gather everyone you know for a big group birthday dinner where the main event is a pre-ordered £300 lamb. The well-seasoned meats—like the slow-cooked lamb haneeth that pulls apart with little to no effort, or the golden chicken mandi that you’ll want to eat with both the flakey ratab bread and the colourful, softly spiced rice it comes with—are also both excellent choices. And if you don’t end a meal here with the masoob with cream & honey (a dessert of mashed bananas, shredded flatbread, cream, and honey) you’re doing it wrong. If you aren't dining with a group, or if eating cross-legged on the floor isn’t your thing, there are plenty of walk-in tables available if you happen to be around West Brompton. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Rianne Shlebak

"During the month of Ramadan, this Yemeni spot in West Brompton with a mix of tables and traditional Yemeni-style floor seating will be serving set menus starting from £18, where you can choose between mains like chicken mandi or lamb haneeth, as well as a range of starters. And if the masoob is on for dessert, make sure you don’t miss it." - rianne shlebak

From the moment we walked in, this restaurant made an outstanding first impression. The staff were incredibly hospitable and welcoming, immediately serving us complimentary soup and water before we even had a chance to order - such thoughtful service! The food preparation was impressively quick without compromising quality. Every dish was delicious, fresh, and prepared in a spotlessly clean kitchen. The flavors were authentic and truly captured the essence of traditional Yemeni cuisine. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating a joyful dining experience that perfectly complemented the excellent food. If you're looking to experience genuine Yemeni flavors in London, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Loved every minute there. My friends and I chose to sit on the floor and were allowed to pay they, they also have extra prayer mats for guests to use. The carpet is immaculate and will looked after allahuma barik lahum. There’s a sink available for guests to wash their hands, kind of like nandos. The food and service were expectational, staff were attentive and very caring. I appreciated all they efforts to make us feel welcome, they also give you complimentary lamb soup (shorba) before ordering/starters) جزاك اللهُ خيراً Will definitely be back in sha Allah and recommend to all my friends and family! Best wishes, Norah

I visited after seeing a glowing review from a food vlogger—always a risky move. The atmosphere was very plain and nothing really stood out. The menu is simple and the prices are reasonable, which is a plus. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. The mandi rice and meat were both quite dry and lacked flavor. Our waiter was polite, but he forgot some items throughout the meal, which added to the disappointment. Fair to say wont be going back. There are better mandi options available in London.

A very nice Yemeni restaurant. The portions are huge and it might be better for two people to share each dish instead of having one each. The Zurbiyan and lamb Haneeth were really nice. The motabag sweet cheese was really tasty. I would avoid the Arabic tea it was tasteless and not worth paying £13.50 for.

Amazing food and ambience. Yousuf welcomed us there and guided us about the food. We ordered chicken and lamb platters which were enough for 4 people. Their traditional bread cannot be missed. Yemeni tea was also good. Great place to hang out. Tip: Sit on the floor to enjoy the food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bab Al Yemen, and I must say—it was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with traditional Yemeni decor that truly transports you. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with genuine hospitality and care. All this amazing service from BALUCHI. He was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable. His friendly attitude and genuine care made us feel like VIP guests. Baluchi is a true asset to the restaurant, and his service added a personal touch that made our meal even more special.

Here's a top Rated Yemeni Mandi spot in London. I was craving a mandi and found @trybabalyemen which had some of the best ratings. Loved the set up of the restaurant - anywhere you can sit on the floor you can enjoy the food a lot more. We went for the lamb mandi. Good portions for the price but the tomato sauce they give comes cold which really ruins the experience. It brings down the temperature of the food, plus was kind of bland too. The actual lamb was great and overall did enjoy it. Given the choice though I'd have a somali type mandi over this. More flavour, more spice, and cheaper.

WOW! Bab Al Yemen is a hidden treasure serving authentic Yemeni cuisine — and here’s why you NEED to visit 👇🇾🇪🔥 Ambiance? Super clean, calm, and beautifully set up. You can see how much attention they’ve put into hygiene and creating a cozy vibe. Hospitality? 10/10 — the staff are incredibly warm, welcoming, and friendly. Now let’s talk food — oh don’t even ask, it was an absolute flavour bomb! 💥 We started off with a complimentary soup, and wow… it was so comforting and delicious, the perfect way to begin. Then came the Arabic Salad — packed with chicken, feta, olives — fresh, zesty, and full of flavor. Loved every bite! Drinks? We tried the Lemon Mojito, which was super refreshing 🍋 and another creamy blend of Mango, Guava, Banana with milk — a tropical summer dream in a glass 🥭🍌🧃 The Yemeni bread was MASSIVE and soooo good — soft yet slightly crisp, easily enough for 3–4 people. A total hit! For mains, we had: 🥘 Fahsa Meat (Beef) – served sizzling hot in a clay pot, paired with that amazing bread. The meat was unbelievably tender and sooo succulent! 🍗🥩 Mandi Chicken & Mandi Lamb – the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the rice? Packed with flavour, perfectly cooked, and topped off with a tasty tomato curry on the side. This is something I’d go back for without a second thought! Everything was just spot on. If you’re craving authentic Yemeni cuisine, you must check out Bab Al Yemen. I’m already planning my next visit! 😍
