We've been making our way through Worcester's sushi scene to switch shit up while we make our way through Worcester's everything else scene.
Baba's was next. We ordered online for delivery in the climate of international viral apocalypse.
The menu: the sushi options are ENDLESS. If you're a sushi bitch, they will absolutely have something to suit your needs and if they don't, you are a high maintenance sushi person. The appetizer menu has some classically japanese stuff like everything-under-the-sun in tempura form and gyoza but the vegetarian apps are limited. The options are essentially edamame or vegetable tempura. They also have limited entree options and only one of them is vegetarian. They have a few salads and soups as well as some desserts. The real money at this place is in their sushi menu.
Being the vegetarian that I am, I went with my usuals of sweet potato tempura and avocado. Tinasaurus ordered the "maki combo" or "maki deluxe" on their real menu online, which includes spicy tuna, rainbow, and dragon eel rolls.
Spicy Tuna-chopped bluefin tuna, cucumber, spicy mayo, masago & scallion, topped with tuna. Tina says this was "nice and juicy"
Rainbow roll- california roll ropped with tuna, salmon, white fish, shrimp (the whole ocean apparently), avocado, scallion, and masago
Dragon eel-tempura shrimp, cucumber, eel, avocado, masago, and kabayaki sauce
High reviews from Tina on all of her rolls. One thing that was disappointing was the distribution of the rolls in the containers. The vegetarian rolls were split up amongst the non-vegetarian rolls and there were a bunch of little masago balls tumbled onto my avocado roll. As a vegetarian, I would prefer to not eat little fish balls, which is why I ordered the vegetarian rolls. Otherwise, everything tasted great and the ingredients seemed extremely fresh.
For good measure, I ordered their vegetarian asian stir fry (also comes with chicken and shrimp). There wre THICCC udon noodles in a very delicious sauce. There were a few broccoli and green peppers so not exactly overly robust with vegetables. The portion size was a little disappointing, especially for $14 but it was VERY tasty.
If all you're looking for is sushi, this is a great place. If you're an appetizer or noodle bitch like me, there might be better places from which to order.
