I would give a rating closer to 3.5 stars. Overall loved the atmosphere of the place, but found some of the dishes to be lacking. Ordered the set menu, the yoghurt dish was okay, but a bit bland in flavour compared to the other punchier dishes like the cuttlefish salad and cucumber dish. Moving on the mains, not sure about the potato side dish with rice and peas underneath fried potatoes. The inclusion of peas and the tomato based sauce was a bit jarring, it felt like something that was put together with leftovers . The beef cheek was nice and tender, but a brown sauce might have made it more savoury vs the green herby sauce which although fresh, didn’t quite hit the spot.
Service was good, as our water was consistently topped up. Only thing I was a bit disappointed about was that in the booking I had specifically requested a candle for the dessert (I had booked under birthday celebration) but didn’t get one once the dessert had came out. Not a big deal, but perhaps a note for improved attention to detail or missed communication (I noticed several other tables with a candle).
Overall, loved the vibe of the place. Might order a la carte next time instead of the set menu though!
