Went in for a few donuts for my vegan daughter, $ 48. later left with 4 donuts, a churro, 2 scoops of ice cream and 2 "paninis". The paninis were not on bread, but a flat thin type of " bread". They were still good; it's what's on the inside that counts 😉 All of these were for 4 of us to share. I still have some ice cream left. 👍🏻 (A lot of sweets for one day).

Google
This is the absolutely most delicious place of treats I have ever been. It’s truly shocking how incredible every single flavor of everything is. Special mention for the apple fritters and pistachio ice cream. The apple fritter is a gift from god - crunchy sugar outside, doughy apple inside. The textures and flavors are pure perfection. The pistachio ice cream - creamy, sweet but not too sweet, rich - I could literally eat buckets. I hope babes is open forever. If I didn’t already live in the area, I would move to be near babes.

Is it too much to ask for a pastry that doesn’t come with mystery materials?😭 I’ve tried, really. I’ve come here a few times, giving it the benefit of the doubt, hoping maybe I just hit an off day. But today was the last straw..or should I say, the last string. A few bites into my pastry, I noticed something weird... and yep, there it was: a literal string baked into it. I don’t even know what kind of string it is...not thread, not floss, not anything that belongs in food. Just... string. I’ve actually felt sick after eating here before (so has my mom), but brushed it off. This time, I couldn’t ignore it. I had to stop eating immediately, and just the thought of it made me nauseous. I’m still grossed out. To be fair, the girl who helped me today was really sweet and kind. This isn’t about the staff, they were lovely. But I can’t keep rolling the dice with mystery items in my food. I even asked chat gpt what it could be...this is what it gave m(see pics). If you decide to eat here, maybe give your pastry a full inspection first. I wish I was kidding😭😭

UPDATE: they refuse cash payments, now… My opinion: cashless is bad. Everyone should insist on using cash. Cashless is pro-government and pro-bank but anti-human. Fix this Pushkins family! Please! 🙏 ______________ Gluten free and vegan: DONUTS AND ICE CREAM! AND COFFEE AND SANDWICHES! This place is not where you go to lose weight or support your fitness regimen. But it’s yummy and awesome. The best thing they have—IMO—is the Apple Fritter, but you really can’t go wrong. Afogados (decaf espresso option) are amazing. The gelato is creamy and the flavors are fantastic.

Google
Went to this place ad tried the mint chip and double chocolate brownie I believe it was and they were delicious! The chocolate one was my favorite it was just so balanced it wasn’t too much at all!. I didn’t get a chance to try the apple fritter but I’ll definitely be back to try it! Definitely recommend

Google
We loved all of the donuts we got. Our favorites were the apple fritter (it was the best I've ever had), the french toast donut, and the cherry pie donut! Everything was incredible though and I highly recommend you check them out!

Google
Great service. Very tasty ice cream. Their desserts looked amazing, and the coffee smelled so good. They have inside and outside seating, although it is somewhat limited. They serve their whole menu all day, including breakfast. Portions were very generous. I want to come back here for breakfast, and get some donuts and coffee. Vegan and gluten-free options readily available! They have restrooms inside. Parking on J St is paid Mon-Sat, but you can usually find free street parking on 25th.

Google
It was nice to find an ice cream place when it was 90+ degrees outside. Got an affogato to help me awake for the drive home. Got a few donuts for the road too. Not a big fan of vegan donuts but they were good. Enough to keep me sustained for the drive back to The Bay.

Yelp
GLUTEN FREE !! Absolutely gluten free Everything! Delicious donuts - Ice cream and a waffle cone( they run out fast though) call ahead if ya want stuff set aside- Apple fritters to write home about- PLS don't change it! Thank you so much for the kind service! The ice cream was so flavorful! I messed up my card transaction and the server was so nice to cancel and redo- even though my tip didn't go through for him- I'll send double next time- thank you!!!!

Yelp
Great location, great service, good treats. If you're into the gf/sometimes vegan eats like I am, this is something that should, if it's not already, become your go-to for ice cream and donuts. Also a big fan of another ice cream spot in Oak Park, but this is the spot to be at in Midtown. About the eats: Donut selection is legit - I just had a strawberry gremlin that did everything right. They also have churros . Ice cream is strongly recommended. The birthday cake option is my favorite, aside from pistachio. They do also have sandwiches here, similar to the Pushkin's Bakery not far from this location. As always, will be back.

Yelp
I am not one to leave yelp reviews, but this experience compelled me to leave one. I am unable to consume gluten or dairy without feeling absolutely awful. I remember visiting Pushkin's years ago and they told me they were opening a donut place. It was my birthday, so my partner and I were out in midtown to get some food and then visit Babes. I was so excited to finally try it as I had been craving donuts for quite some time. It was also the first time we were able to have a date night just us in over a year since we have a young child. We were just happy to be out together. We ordered ice cream, got some donuts, and a couple coffees. The ice cream and donuts were absolutely delicious and I was very satisfied. That being said, the customer service was awkward and uncomfortable. As someone who's been in customer service/retail/hospitality for 10+ years, I understand not every shift you are in the mood to be overly chipper and friendly. But the two employees working were very unfriendly. They just seemed annoyed to help customers at all. They weren't busy and we were the only people in there. I felt rushed and the employees were not great. We ordered two coffees as well, and one of the employees basically sighed and called their other coworker over to make them. Coffee wasn't great. I was disappointed at the energy given to us. Working in an industry where you rely on tips, you just don't treat people like that simply because you're grumpy you have to do your job. They should really do a better job with who they hire. I have had coworkers in the past fired for acting like that. I get that customer service is draining and you have bad days, but reading other reviews this seems to be a fairly common complaint. Overall, the ice cream and donuts were lovely. The service was not. Will return, and hope I have a better experience next time.

Yelp
Got a sweet treat before school and was so satisfied!!! Babes was super cute, we went at a good time being the only ones in there.Good seating on the inside. The man serving us was kind and we tried the smores as well but was look for something more light. The peach cobbler was delicious and creamy! The doughnuts weren't too dense and were very soft! I'm not vegan or gluten free but love all of the puskins businesses. Never disappoints
google avatar

Zack B.

Yelp
Honestly was super excited to come here but was kinda let down. Some of the donuts were super dry and bland, one even tasted stale. On the other hand there were some donuts that were still genuinely really good. I would give it a second chance but the first impression was not strong

Ravneet R.

Yelp
Love this place and love pushkins for bringing gluten free to Sacramento !! This place is entirely gluten free and vegan which is so refreshing to see. The waffle cones are next level and you could never tell that they are gf. The ice cream is super creamy; I got pistachio with sprinkles. My one caveat though is the ice cream is almost overwhelmingly sweet and I had a hard time finishing 1 scoop
google avatar

Mikiko N.

Yelp
Tiramisu ice cream was the best vegan cream I have ever had! I hope the flavor becomes a regular menu. The service is great.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
While it was a bit hot outside, the ice cream was cool and delightful! Coffees, paninis, and ice cream. Awesome!
google avatar

Lindsey W.

Yelp
We popped in and grabbed some donuts. It was fast and easy and the donuts were delicious. I had the maple and the apple fritter. Both were fresh, and flavorful. The texture was perfect. You would never know these were gluten free and vegan! It's so nice to not have to ask 20 questions to determine if it's safe for someone with celiac to eat there. Cashier was friendly.

Yelp
Babes is located on J Street across from Chicago Fire and right next to the beloved Ginger Elizabeth's! I was in the mood for dessert for dinner tonight - it's been one of those weeks, just saying. I stopped in to Babes to check out what they had to offer and the inside was super cute. They offer different types of coffee, ice cream and donuts. They are also 1,000 percent vegan, but that did not scare me away! Even though I was eyeballing the ice cream, I decided to take home a few donuts - I went with the Ferrero Rocher, the Cruller and the Gingerbread. My favorite of the 3 was definitely the Ferrero Rocher - I loved the crunch from the nuts! The donuts were more dense than fluffy, but they were a lot better than some non vegan donut places that I've been too! They tasted fresh, but they were also very sweet - no complaining though. I said it was a dessert for dinner night, didn't I? Staff were friendly and gave good recommendations. I will definitely be back to check out the coffee and ice cream selections! Check them out!

Yelp
I got my good cup of coffee in hand walking around midtown and I just want something to pair with the ice coffee that's black. . So I drove by and let's see what they have seasonal at babes donuts. I saw they have blueberry lemon which sound so good but I got to be good. I went with pumpkin pie which was wow. . Pumpkin pie donut. It was hit for me. The presentation looks great. Has some cream on top. Nice glaze on it. The first bite reminds me of Thanksgiving. A pumpkin pie lover must come here and try the pumpkin donut. . Love simple clean set up inside. Quick easy grab and go kind of style. There is a few table inside to enjoy the goods. Love how there is some color kid activity paper for kids too. . Overall if you love donuts and love vegan, gluten free and all the specialties they have it here. Hope this review helps. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day.

Yelp
This is a convenient vegan place to stop by near downtown Sac. Coffee is bit acidic for my taste. But if you like your coffee acidic, you will do fine. Try afogato with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream is rich just to warn you. Cold brew is refreshing. Pina colada is also nice. Good place to take an afternoon break.

Yelp
Thank you, Babes, for providing a 'yes' experience for kiddos (and adults) with dietary restrictions. It fills our kid with joy to enter your shop and know that everything is an option for him. Please continue to offer a wheat free experience as we navigate the trials and tribulations of discovering allergens. Your crew is kind, patient, and clear about ingredients and allergen options. P. S. The churros are the bomb!

Yelp
I love that this spot is 100% Vegan and Gluten Free. I have family members who cannot have any gluten and places like this make them feel safe and at ease ordering and enjoying a treat. They're open Monday through Sunday 8am until 9pm which makes it easy to enjoy their treats all day long. On our latest visit we stopped by in the morning and there were a bunch of families coming by for a Sunday morning donut visit as well. It was popular! We ended up ordering a strawberry rainbow sprinkle donut ($2.50) and a raspberry white chocolate pistachio donut ($3). We ate them both outside at one of the tables. The consistency is different than other donuts, a bit chewier, but the flavor was spot on, especially for the raspberry white chocolate one. The store is pretty tiny, so it's a grab and go kind of spot. If you're not looking for donuts, they also have ice cream and coffee and everything there is vegan and gluten free.
google avatar

Crystal C.

Yelp
A full gluten free facility, when I asked for a waffle cone with ice cream I had to clarify it was gluten free. It tasted so delicious and didn't break apart like other gluten free cones. I had the vegan gluten free rocky road flavor and I haven't missed ice cream as much as I do right now! I also got their Apple fritter donut, tiramisu donut, and churros to go and warmed it up at home the next day just as good. Service was great and I would 100% recommend to those with a gf intolerance + celiacs.
google avatar

Lily M.

Yelp
Never had a vegan doughnut before but omg these were delicious! My favorite was the churro and berry pistachio!! The staff was also very sweet!
google avatar

Rachelle R.

Yelp
We just left Babes and I am obsessed! This is such a cute little vegan breakfast spot and I am so happy we found it. The inside is absolutely adorable and even has a Frenchie on the wall! The store has a bright and bubbly vibe which I loved. The staff was super friendly and efficient making our drinks while we made donut decisions. The donuts are mouth watering and delectable! I would eat the raspberry white chocolate pistachio every day of my life if that would be possible. I couldn't even tell that the donuts were gluten free because the texture was perfect! My husband loved his donuts and ate three and I saved some of mine for later. As a vegan it's so hard to find unique vegan donuts but Babes makes that dream a reality! I will definitely come back next time I'm in town
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Truthfully when I came here, I didn't know that it was vegan and gluten free. With that being said, it's not my style...but it was pretty good. I love the variety in their menu and they offer good options for ice cream and donuts. The lady was very patient and helpful to us as well.
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
Coconut ice cream and almond flour pastries were so good! Highly recommend if you avoid dairy and flour. So far my tummy feels good!
google avatar

Eugene R.

Yelp
Variety, upbeat, organized, and with happy staff. This place is now my choice for a sweet and tasteful grab after an early dinner.
google avatar

Carolyn S.

Yelp
Finished our night in Sacramento at Babes ice cream and donuts for affogato's. I chose their mint chip to go in my affogato and it was really good. Coffee was strong as it should be but almost bitter. Donuts were interesting. Very doughy not as moist. Good flavor though. I also found out that everything there - including the ice cream - was 100% gluten free & vegan. Service was great the young lady really knew the products and was very knowledgeable in general. Ambiance was clean and bright, exactly what you'd expect from an ice cream shop.
google avatar

Hannah E.

Yelp
I didn't take a picture of my French toast and Peeps inspired donuts and I am sorry for that because they tasted even better than they looked. Best vegan donuts! Would love to try the ice cream next. Also a welcoming little area to sit as well.
google avatar

Andrew J.

Yelp
Babe's was one of the places my GF and I travelled to Sacrament to be able to enjoy along with Bambis Vegan tacos. My Tiramisu vegan ice cream affogato with espresso was sooooooo good. It turns out you can't have too much coffee flavor. I also ordered a chocolate crueller spooky donut and my partner ordered a spooky halloween donut with a strawberry on it. We enjoyed everything. The one false note in the performance was when the cute halloween strawberry donut was put in a very tiny togo box which upon closing somewhat mangled the presentation of the donut. I'd just make one recommendation that the donut artistry not get blemished before enjoying by getting slightly bigger to-go boxes. Still an overall fun decadent experience.
google avatar

Sienna S.

Yelp
This spot is a dream come true if your gluten free! I sampled some of their inventive donuts and indulged in their brown sugar latte and I loved every single thing I tried. This spot is a dedicated gluten free and vegan facility! Perfect for you or any friends and family who have food restrictions/allergies. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. I love love love this spot and I will 100% be back soon!
google avatar

Africa G.

Yelp
How cute! Babes was much more affordable than I expected for a vegan and gluten free restaurant. The inside was absolutely adorable and the staff immediately greeted me upon arrival. Keep in mind that if you plan to visit, only street parking is available in the nearby vicinity. I was able to taste tested several ice cream flavors and ultimate went with the strawberry rhubarb flavor! It was very creamy and filling, but not heavy. It had little cake bits in it too which was delish. For my family, I got the strawberry cheesecake, maple cruller, and cinnamon donuts. They were PHENOMENAL! My family is vegan, so finding spots like this are so meaningful for us. The donuts tasted super fresh. Everything was perfection- texture, icing, flavor, sweetness, EVERYTHING. So, yes I will be back very soon!
google avatar

Milton ..

Yelp
My ice cream was amazing I should've ordered strawberry topping as well! Blueberry coffee cake was really good as well! Service was pretty dope as well I love going to places where they don't judge you based on the appearance alone I came in looking pretty bummy lol. The ambiance and whole feel of this place is nice it's sort of tucked away but definitely worth it if you're looking to try some place new!!!
google avatar

Aaron T.

Yelp
Their churros and apple fritters are so good, you would never suspect they were gluten-free and vegan. They also make delicious paninis.
google avatar

Amy O.

Yelp
I will be returning! The blueberry crumble ice cream is phenomenal. We went at 7 pm so the chocolate sprinkle donut was not super fresh and was dense but I can't wait to go back earlier and try all their variety!
google avatar

Chrisy H.

Yelp
Had lunch downtown and happened to see this place when we were walking to the car so we decided to check it out. I had no idea it was vegan/gluten-free friendly before I ordered. I ordered apple fritter and a lemon French crueler. The apple fritter was very good, moist and tasty. The lemon doughnut was a little on the dry side and not lemony enough for me. Cute place inside, but I would have never noticed it had I not been walking by? They don't have a big sign. It's next to Ginger Elizabeth, and across the street from Chicago fire and beach hut deli
google avatar

Lo S.

Yelp
This little place is so cute. Honestly I didn't come in because they are vegan & gluten free-just looked cute. The donuts were SO yummy. Cute, small perfect. Had the maple, apple fritter and they were good. A bonus if you are vegan & gluten free-this place has you covered. Give em a try
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
I've talked by Babes SO many times while in Midtown, but this was my first time! A group of friends and I checked it out after we went to Tapa the World, since we wanted dessert. I'm always a sucker for sorbet and loved they had the raspberry lemon option, which happens to be one of my favorite combos. It was delicious! There seemed to be a good sized crowd there as well, and service was very fast. This would be a great snack/dessert spot as they have non-ice cream items as well.

Nicole Y.

Yelp
I got the ice cream and an apple fritter (not pictured) and both were delicious! First starting with the strawberry cheesecake, the texture was like normal ice cream and I couldn't even tell that it was vegan. Shoutout to the worker who helped me because I tried many different flavors and she was patient enough to let me try them all! They were all very good and I will definitely be back to get the other flavors. The apple fritter was good. A bit on the smaller side but the texture was great and not too dense unlike many gluten free foods. I recommend and there's a nice selection of other donuts and churros as well. There's limited seating outside and some inside. Overall great experience and a cute little shop. Definitely recommend coming to check it out!
google avatar

Dorothy B.

Yelp
service was very friendly! while the interior was cute, there was very limited seating. the ice cream and the waffle cone was so delicious and didn't even realise it was all vegan and gluten free till someone in our group pointed it out! i also wish there were more flavor options, but overall, a good experience!

Alexis W.

Yelp
Yum! We stopped by on our way out of town and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
I honestly didn't know this spot was vegan! The creaminess is definitely there. This pistachio and chocolate peanut butter were very, very good. I wish there was better seating inside, especially for kids. I wish there was also a smaller size for kids. The kid coloring sheets are a nice touch, though!
google avatar

Kayla Z.

Yelp
Visited this lovely place last night after dinner and I am so glad we did. The churros were delicious! Came here just because I was craving something sweet, we ordered the churros, apple fritter a glazed donut like baked good. Everything was really good. They has some vegan and soy free options which is a nice touch. The service was quick and the overall store was pretty quiet. Quick service. We will be back soon!

Kari B.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best donut places we have ever been! We travel a lot and always try donut shops. Do not sleep on this one!!
google avatar

Sonia N.

Yelp
Babes had been on my list for a while, and we happily stopped there on a trip to Tahoe. While we only expected doughnuts, we were pleasantly surprised to find ice cream, coffee, and paninis as well. We started off with paninis (pizza and caprese). The cheese was nicely melted and the fillings were delicious. But...these being gluten free were not on bread but more of a tortilla. I more accurately call this a quesadilla. It was yummy though, and piping hot! Next, we got the ice cream. Salted caramel pecan with hot fudge. Omg! It was absolutely incredible. We sampled a few flavors and they were all good, but this one really knocked it out of the park. We took 4 doughnuts to go: cinnamon roll, Ferrero rocher, maple cruller, and chocolate with sprinkles. They were good but not the best vegan doughnuts we've ever had. A bit dry and dense. Personally I would come back over and over for the ice cream. If you're in Sac, give it a try.
google avatar

Jen A.

Yelp
Babes made my day! Visited from out of town and was so happy to stop by for donuts and ice cream. Also the churros were the best ever! The service was great, the girl behind the counter was so sweet and helpful! I can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Shane S.

Yelp
I recently went to Babes Ice Cream and Donuts in Sacramento. They are an all vegan ice cream parlor and donut shop. Kudos for being all vegan. I didn't have any donuts yet did try a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream in a waffle cone. It had a coconut base. It was good. They had a couple interesting flavors like birthday cake and cookie dough yet cookies and cream is a favorite so is my go to when possible to get it vegan. Worth checking out for a dessert in Sacramento for vegans, vegetarians, omnivores and everyone. I would surely be back to try more of their delights.
google avatar

Becca ..

Yelp
I love coming here. The place is super cute. There isn't too much seating but they do have a counter against the wall with some bar stools. The service is always quick and friendly. I've had their ice cream and it is seriously the best. Vegan or not it's one of my favorites. The donuts are good as well. They have a slight chewy texture with a blast of flavor. The chai latte was pretty good too. Their prices are reasonable especially compared to other places. Definitely check them out it will be worth it!
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Love love love this place!!! My family goes to Ricks next door & I want something sweet too. Thank goodness for Babes!! I can't possibly eat one of everything when I come...I just have to keep coming back!
google avatar

Deanne A.

Yelp
I don't wanna sound like a "you-know-what" but this mouth gets around okay??! I am no stranger to ice cream and more specifically at this point in my life: vegan ice cream. I have lived here for a month and a half and after having Babes Ice Cream 3 times already I am quite convinced that this is the best vegan ice cream I have ever had. It's so soft. It has a really great consistency. It is pretty sweet but duh, it's ice cream. It reminds me a bit of Cold Stone Creamery (I used to love their bday cake remix) The bday cake at Babes is bomb. There are so many flavors to try but I keep wanting to get the flavors I already tried because they are so good. Maybe I'll have to try 3 scoops next time although the woman at the register said the most she has ever seen on a cone is 3. I think that was a challenge. Speaking of.... The freaking CONES. Just the fact you can even GET a vegan cone is a feat in and of itself because so many times I am told the cones aren't vegan at other places... WHY NOT? And then to top it off you can get a pastry to go? Yes, I'm obsessed. I don't care. I love seeing the line out the door for this place! They also have a rewards program where you earn points. Cool! 5 Star service and vibes. You'll see me soon. Thanks guys!

Chef Will G.

Yelp
Very welcoming, great ambiance. The customer service and friendly factor is top shelf. Hibiscus Lemonade Donut - unique flavor, can taste the citrus, amazing. Churro - very good, very sweet. Chocolate French Cruller - did not taste, my daughter's favorite. Chocolate Banana Donut Hole - did not taste, my daughter's favorite. My second review, this bakery is consistently delicious. Love this place.
google avatar

Tori B.

Yelp
In my brain, there's something contradictory about a vegan gluten-free doughnut, but I am here to tell you it is delicious! I tried a couple of these this morning along with a really great cold brew. Pretty little stop! Definitely will return.
google avatar

Sabine P.

Yelp
I really like this " vegan " ice cream place. The prices seem reasonable. The service has always been very good. Additionally, they have numerous vegan pasteries and cupcakes, drinks. I highly recommend Babes!
google avatar

Chloe B.

Yelp
Yay all vegan spot for ice cream and donuts open late. We went on a Saturday night. Boy oh boy was it busy and the donut selection was low. We've been wanting to try them for awhile. The ice cream was yummy but not out of this world. I would go back to support local and vegan. Employees were nice.
google avatar

Bea J.

Yelp
Love love love!!!! Stopped for a sweet treat. The honey boo boo got a banana walnut fudge milkshake and I got some tasty pastries for my night cap coffee sesh! Love this place. #veganlife #goodlife

Yelp
All vegan shop in Midtown. Very gracious employee welcome us in. We sampled a few ice creams. I settled on a cone with blueberry cobbler scoops. The cones are delicate waffle and quite delicious. Coconut based ice creams I believe. Baked goods looked tasty. Some gluten free options too. Lovely little shop!
