Amazing place, for someone who loves pastries this place is heavenly! Definitely a must visit! Plenty of seats available and easy free parking.

This bakery has a faithful following of customers and, for the most part, it’s deserved. However, value certainly isn’t one of their redeeming qualities. Especially after today’s purchase of this chocolate croissant. Certainly nice and flaky. But….LACKING in chocolate 😔

Visited for the first time with a friend, and I was bewildered at the display - so much choice and everything looked wonderful! I got a bunch of things to try - we sat down for a chai with pain au chocolate and mocha with carrot cake, and took things to go for later - chocolate chip cookie, plum galette, plum tart, apricot cardamom danish, cherry danish - this is definitely a gourmet bakery with some unique flavor combinations. They also have savory treats like quiches, slices of sourdough pizza and more. Be prepared to be confused at the display because you will want to get everything!

We tried their cinnamon roll/croissant and one of the focaccias, it was all absolutely delicious! Unfortunately they sold out of the blueberry tart when we got there, oh well. Excuse the poor pictures quality, I was really hungry after a long hike and clicked them a bit impatiently.

A patient of mine put me on to Babettes when they were changing locations in Longmont. He told me about their homemade bread, and this was enough to lure me in. We live in Lafayette, so the fact that it’s on the south side of Longmont makes it very accessible. Personally, I return for the pastries. They are the right amount of sweetness and are laminated wonders. It gets a little crazy on the weekends, so if you can stop in midweek you will have a much less chaotic experience.

Babettes is a beautiful place with plenty of seating inside and out. It’s great for working remotely. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. We didn’t have coffee but the coffee bar is huge.

Great food and great coffee! You can’t leave without trying their Strawberry Creme Brûlée. Everything I’ve tried is absolutely delicious. The line is quite long since there is only one counter and one register but the line moves quickly and it’s well worth the wait.

Fresh unique desserts and incredible pizza! There is a line on weekends, but they are speedy and efficient. I was a fan of the rose pistachio cake and eclairs.

Remarkable bakery. Always bring out of town guests and I like to stop on the way into work to pick up treats for the coworkers. Incredible artisan bread. Lovely staff behind the counter. Nice play to visit with a friend.

Food: Almost everything here on the display is overcooked, and wayyy to black all over. Their breads are definitely burnt. Their regular croissants were luckily saved from the burnt curse, and were delicious, on the edges however, it still tasted a little burnt. The almond cake is delightful though, smooth, silky buttercream and the cake has the perfect hit of almond. Service: The service is typically good here if you don't mention anything about their overcooked food, otherwise they can be defensive. Ambience: The inside is nice and has a nice sitting area. Overall: Not too pleased with the fact more than half of the things served here are inedible, but very happy with the things that I can eat. Many reviewers I've noticed have mentioned their food being too overcooked, but they haven't changed in all this time which is disappointing.

Went here 30 mins prior to closing time so didn't see the morning activity or rush of people getting pastries for breakfast. The aesthetic of the shop is nice! It's next to the retro gas station in this part of town. I thought they didn't have any pastries left when I got there but bought myself a massive almond croissant which was divine. And also a chocolate budino which was a chocolate tart with caramelized cornflakes on top :) will try to be back in the morning to see how crazy the line gets!

First time stopping in close to closing time and the selection of available items was somewhat limited, but expected. Still got a tremendous goat cheese and tomatoe quiche and a mixed berry tart which was amazing! Plenty of breads were available and looking for to tasting their sourdough. Unique location in Prospect with plenty food options nearby and worth the visit.

We were staying in Longmont, CO on our way to RMNP, but of course before we head out we need try one of local bakeries, there were a few good ones that popped up but Babettes Bakery caught our eye, highly rated and close by, so you know we had to go try it out. The line was short but we still had time to survey the assortment of treats. These are the treats we decided on: 1. Regular Croissant / spot on delicious - bigger than most other establishments. 2. Chocolate chip salted cookie / A+ moist and a little gooey just the way I like it 3. Croque Monsieur - (ham and cheese filled croissant) - this was the first thing we devoured before even trying anything else - so you know it was good 4. Almond filled morning bun - ok so this was a little dry - but the filling was great - I usually like to heat my morning bun up just a tad - but forgot to ask this time 5. Raspberry Tart - a little too sweet for us but it could appeal to a real sweet tooth person. Overall everything was good, but the first three items stood out for us. The latte and coffee were good as well. If you are in the Longmont, CO area and are looking for a nice morning treat and beverage this place will not let you down.

As I started to cut my first slice of Babette's olive oil, Maldon salt & herbs de provence encrusted boule, I was reminded of 1976 when I was a boy, waiting in line at the new Space Mountain ride. The head-exploding excitement was so thick I could cut it with... well, the bread knife I had in my hand yesterday. As I slice into the perfectly thick crust, the herbaceous toppings (including subtle pops of salt) stick to your fingers enriched with the wonderful fragrance of luscious olive oil. The anticipation and excitement pays off instantly as you continue to slice through, revealing the soft inner dough textured with a myriad of various-sized air pockets. I'm transported back to my childhood again where neighborhood German, Jewish, Italian & French bakeries were everywhere bringing their centuries-old baking techniques & traditions to New York. After slathering on a thin layer of soft butter, my first bite illuminates the true magic of this artisan bread. The soft inner body has perfect elasticity-- it is somehow light & airy, yet has a depth & gravity to the dough. Each bite is a textural masterclass for lesser bakers. The foundational sour dough mix of white, wheat, rye, spelt and other grains is nothing short of amazing. This is not just truly great bread for Colorado, this is a work of art that belongs in the world bakery hall of fame (if there was one ;-) And honestly, all their bread is like this, from the long baguettes to their square Pullman loaves. It is clear to me and their throngs of fervent customers that this baking is executed with the skill, passion & dedication of the GOAT.

You get what you get when they have it ready. And everything is very delicious! The bakery has a small store front situated next door to a coffee hang out. There is some street parking, not a lot but this is not a very busy neighborhood so I have never had trouble getting a parking spot.

Sweet or savory - both croissants were the best! Lived up to its top reviews. Will go back in a heartbeat! Kind staff as well!

These owners dont seem to understand that their bread is sooooo burnt. I wanted to come here, but the only thing I see in the reviews are pictures of burnt croissants, burnt loaf, burnt pizzas etc.....

My friend has been suggesting we meet at Babette's for a while now. But it's too far for lunch on a workday. We were in Longmont today and we made it happen. We got two pizza slices, acorn squash with fennel and a sausage pizza. I regretted asking for a middle slice instead of a corner slice. The bread is so so so so SO GOOD! The airy huge croissant was perfectly laminated. And the hazelnut ho-ho was not too sweet and superbly chocolate-y. Mmm. Once we got back home, I remembered that my friend had espoused their mortadella sandwiches as the best she's ever had. I don't think I have a choice. I need to go back. And, when I'm there pick up some pizza dough, too!

The Good: Food is delicious and coffee is good. I like the location with inside and outside tables, clean restrooms, and self-serve water. The Bad: I have often abandoned the line because service is dreadfully slow, likely because they are understaffed. On Saturdays and Sundays the line is out the door and sometimes around the block. There is only ever one register open. Why not staff an additional person to prepare drinks and heat food during peak times? Why not equip servers with a Square Reader (POS) for credit card transactions?

We showed up in the early afternoon on a Saturday, so the pastry selection was a bit smaller than I'd anticipated. The pizza with the potato and leek and the one with sausage and polenta were delicious! The service was informed and friendly. Next time we'll come earlier.

Omg pastries here are SO good! Came on a Sunday morning around 8am and they appeared to have everything available. Their croissant dough type products were incredibly light and flaky. We had a chocolate croissant, cherry danish, morning bun, and cruffin with lemon curd and toasted meringue. Least favorite was the chocolate croissant only bc the chocolate was a bit more bitter than I prefer, and the outermost layer was a tad overdone. The cherry danish was to die for, as was the cruffin. And morning bun was also excellent. If ever back in the area I will definitely return! It would be worth the drive from Boulder and or Denver!

If you do a search for the word burnt, you will see multiple reviewers going back five years complaining about burnt pastries and bread at this place. You can't sell a slice of burnt quiche for eight dollars. It's ridiculous. Two stars because the croissant was ok despite being over baked and having a mere sliver of chocolate in it. I never leave reviews on yelp but I'm pretty annoyed about this experience.

3.5 stars. Innovative and impressive variety of pastries and breads. But there is a slightly bitter and burned taste. The pastry with hazelnut, chocolate & escargot was alright but the bitter/burnt taste of the pastry bread dominated the taste. We also had a pastry with blueberries that was better and the filling part in the middle tasted good. Regarding coffee & tea, they only serve in 8 ounce cups. No larger sizes. They told us that if we wanted bigger cups of beverages to go to another place a block away. And an 8 ounce cup of Americano is $3. When I asked the barista for cream, she ignored me. I asked her again and she then took the cream out and told me as if I should know, that the cream is always kept in the fridge. When I said thank you for the cream, she ignored me as if I didn't matter. Maybe she was having a bad morning.

Food is very good when it's not burnt to a crisp. There was a time this place was so highly regarded that it couldn't do anything wrong. Let's all be honest with each other, that ship has sailed. I've made my last 20+ minute drive just for their goods. Their Croissant dough is great and it's an awesome twist in danishes. Their sourdough is good but you can find solid loaves of sourdough at other places now. Half the stuff is burnt beyond edible and at this point I'd rather buy something without being scowled at. The service is awful, nobody who works there seems to even have the slightest desire to be there or to be of service. It's the most morose and dull environment I've been to in a long time. Unwelcoming, no energy, sterile and boring as all get out. I was in with my 5 year old who wanted a croissant with jelly. I asked if they had that and they looked at me like I had 4 heads. It's a bakery, that's a pretty fair request. I was told " we have our butter and jelly on a baguette special". I asked if it was possible to just put the jelly on a croissant instead of baguette and the person working had to go ask if they could do that, he actually went and asked and someone who actually told him "NO"???!!! I spent many years in the service industry. I worked in a number of different restaurants of all kinds at all levels. I've had hundreds of employees throughout the years. I've never told a guest or an employee to tell a guest "no" to something we could do. That is an absolute abomination and I would've happily kept this to myself if it was simply something they didn't have--"oh sorry, we don't have jelly". That would be totally understandable but you're literally putting it on a different type of bread product as your special of the day. Didn't even try to come up with a creative solution if perhaps they didn't have the bandwidth to cut and jelly the croissant--how about I give you a side of jelly? Nope. Instead I ended up buying a 2 Oz jar for an additional $6 so my kid could have what is now a $14 croissant with jelly, before tip for such amazing service. Sorry, this place officially sucks. And I'm not the only one who has noticed. When mentioning this to multiple people in the area the responses I got were: "the service in that place always sucks", "why is everyone who works there always so miserable and inhospitable"? "That place feels like walking into a morgue", "it's the unfriendliest place I ever go and don't know why I go back". "I once heard an employee scream at a customer on the phone and curse them out while I was standing in line". I can only imagine that this is the result of poor leadership. This kind of attitude and environment can only come from the top. They're clearly just empowering people to put things in bags, not be a restaurant or service industry establishment. That's a shame, some of us would rather have a kind "good morning" or a smile when we're getting raped for $8 on a simple croissant. So I think this is likely the last time I make my way over there. I encourage others to think about their experiences and if it's worth the drive or wait in line or expense. Because it's definitely not worth the combination of those things. Let's stop holding undeserving places on a pedestal they haven't earned. COVID ended a long time ago, you can certainly do better if you prioritize it. Being a top bakery doesn't mean you have to be aholes. Take a note from Zingermann's and consider sending your staff to their trainings.

Great bakery, perfect for lunch with a nice selection of sandwiches, pizzas, ham & cheese croissant. Or breakfast the French way with a croissant and café au lait. Or for no other reason than it's yummy! Make sure you also check out the fridge with chocolate mousse, lemon curd and more!

This place has potential but for the price it's really needing to address some things: 1) the staff is consistently rude and short 2) the pastries/quiche are consistently burnt. How are you going to charge $6-8 for a burnt quiche? 3) the coffee is so disappointing. Please please please teach your baristas how to pull espresso properly and make a proper latte. The coffee is consistently weak, cold and lacking foam. 4) you have a beautiful pizza oven yet you serve rectangle "pizza" (cold, not fresh thick pieces of bread with some toppings) and sell it for $6 a piece? Fire up that pizza Oven with some Napoli style pizzas already. We would love it! The staff is a bunch of indifferent people. One staff person took up a 10 person booth to herself to enjoy a post shift pastry while my family crowded around a 2 top.

The bread and pastries are delicious and unique. I know this is a controversial statement but I've never experienced poor service here and i like the flavor others call burned. Worth showing up early before they sell out of the cardamom pastries! The pizza wasnt as good as the other offerings so ill stick to the bakery.

I have been to Babette's only a small handfull of times but Oh My Gosh!! They are incredible and so friendly. They open at 8am and I am torn - On one hand I wish they were open earlier so I could grab something yummy (SO many to choose from) before starting work at 8am. On the other hand it is probably a blessing for both wallet and belly.

This bakery is overpriced, the service is not very good, a tad unprofessional and the seating is odd.

We don't go here anymore. The owner has a pattern of reacting in extremely inappropriate ways towards any sort of criticism. I understand that Covid has been hard, but his repeated behavior is inexcusable. All businesses have had a hard time, and this is the only place that has treated people so poorly over and over again. While the pastries etc. are tasty, they are incredibly expensive and sometimes the bread really is burnt. I am sorry for the staff that is affected by the owner. The customers & staff deserve better.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you get here. I arrived about 5 minutes prior to when they opened and there was 3 other people waiting in line. They are pretty strict during COVID (which I am very thankful for!) and only allow 3 customers in at a time then wipe down the counter after each transaction. If you arrive later, probably safe to say, expect a wait. I read about them and found their natural fermentation method very intriguing and decided I needed to drop everything and visit this place. After trying their more traditional sourdough, I have determined it is some of the best I have ever tried. I personally like it better than San Francisco sourdough. I felt Babette's sourdough is less sour but lighter and more airy. They happen to use 100% hydration whereas most places (myself included) will use between 70-85% hydration. The higher the hydration content, the harder it is to work the dough. I was thoroughly impressed with the perfection of their sourdough. I almost got their almond croissant which was fantastic, again, very light and airy, lightly sweetened and crunchy in the right places. However, I see what others were talking about where the center had a few spots where it was maybe undercooked? It didn't bother me, just pointing it out. I tried their oatmeal cookie and I don't know what happened there. It was gross. I took a bite and basically trashed it. It also looks like other local beverages and specialty items are sold there, so I grabbed a pint of Gelato Boy gelato. It is not false advertisement that it is some of the best gelato I've had. All in all, looks like Babette's specialty is sourdough. I likely will not be trying their other items but stick to what they are amazing at.

I was so excited to try this place. I schlepped out to Longmont from Denver just to try the pastries one morning. I ordered a chocolate croissant and a plain croissant. I couldn't wait to tear into the chocolate pastry and started eating it one step out of the bakery. The first bite was dry....the second bite was dry.... It tasted charred throughout (I know some people really enjoy it that way) but in this case the chocolate tasted scalded. I then tried the plain croissant. The outside was a dark char but the inside was undercooked as you can see from the picture. Chewy and doughy, the whole experience was disappointing. The quality was not what I was expecting from this acclaimed bakery, especially at the price charged. I have heard great things about the pizza and may venture back to try a pie.

This is one of my favorite bakeries anywhere. And bakeries are my favorite places. I've spent years in Europe and this place matches some of my favorites in Denmark and France. I love everything I've had here. Though I really wish they would bring back the olive bread!

I made my first visit to this gem this morning and was greeted by a long line of faithful customers. It moved efficiently and was a good sign that the baked goods were worth the wait. Croissant dough seems to be their specialty as each pastry we ordered (between $5-7 each) exhibited a flakey texture. I enjoyed the morning bun, though the outside had too much sugar. The coffee cups (to go) are very small for $4, six or eight ounces and my latte had an interesting flavor. Pros- variety/selection to keep patrons coming back to try new things, polite service Cons- everything is expensive, so a visit is a special treat, not a regular occurrence, I did not like the cardamom croissant filling (expected the spice to be ground and sprinkled into the dough rather than a hard glob of it inside)

Amazing bread. Go if you love bread perfection. Loaves are large dense and crusty. Perfection. A slice of is a meal.

Grabbed some pastries on the way through town for brunch at a friends'. Almond croissant was on point. Great layers, perfect exterior crunch and perfect filling amount. Ham and gruyere croissant were awesome too. Baguette was crisp on the outside and chewy on inside. Everyone raved about them, big hit! The Roman style pizza was perfect balance of doughy and garlic and cheese - don't judge, we had a pre brunch pizza slice at 10:30 am

Best bakery in Longmont imo. Have our family breakfast here almost every weekend. Friendly staff, delicious food, cozy environment in a lovely neighborhood. Highly recommended.

Overall a good bakery, however they dedicated a huge space to their pizzeria which is basically off limits unless the pizza side of the house is open. That forces patrons to sit outside on cold, lifeless, metal tables. Also, the owner treats customers like children, which is incredibly off putting. It's their choice, however they have taken to social media berating people into getting vaccinated. In my opinion, there are other, more positive ways to encourage customers to support public health initiatives. Instead the owner decided to curse and scream at her loyal customer base. May I recommend outsourcing your social media to properly trained PR types? It's a bad look.

There are no words to express how wonderful this place and their baked goods are to experience!!! I stay away from Gluten but make an exception here. They import their flour so it doesn't have any of our GMO nonsense. True masters!!! Like a visit abroad. Highly recommend.

Best bakery in all of Boulder county and just as good as the best ones in Denver. Everything fresh and delicious. Lots of variety and prices are reasonable. They do need to add some help and figure out their flow of traffic, but they are doing the best with what they have. Expect to wait.

Babette's bakery is so amazing! We love their baguettes and Country bread. The croissants, Danish, and morning buns are so good too!

Truly a unique and fabulous tasting bakery. The owners of this bakery/cafe are true artisans of their profession. This isn't Panera people, this is a true experience of the baking craft. Their flavors and confections are so delicious, the quality is super high. Their choices in baking temps and different char on their breads and baked goods are purposeful and intended to draw out multiple flavor profiles. They are also super duper nice people. The atmosphere is casual and cozy. They are family friendly! Good free street parking, and go early they sell out of deliciousness quite fast sometimes.

Right when I thought there was not a perfect bakery in Colorado......I found Babette's! The bake is perfect. No notes!

First visit ever, although I've had my eye on Babettes for a while based on friends' chatter. I drove up from Gunbarrel just for this. I ordered the croque monsieur, basically a ham and cheese croissant, and a country loaf. The funny thing is, I ordered the croque monsieur in French, because that's what the placard in front of it said and I lived in Paris for a while when I was young. I was feeling STRONG in my temporarily borrowed Parisian soul. The French ambiance in the shop brought that out in me! But that was decades ago, and the person behind the counter stared at me and, after three glottal attempts on my part, said "Do you mean the ham and cheese croissant?" LOL, I was deservedly deflated but also charmed by their patience. The ham and cheese bun (now I'm even afraid to try saying croissant) was quite good, and the country loaf was the star, really an excellent loaf. Will be back regularly, and want to try the pizza, which looked promising. I loved everything about the place, service, ambiance, food. Plus it's in Prospect, a nice place to wander around in while you eat your ham and cheese bun and think about all the nice things you'll be putting on slices of your country loaf.

Got a cupcake here on a whim -- price wasn't listed -- and it was more than $7! I love cupcakes and try them at lots of places. This one could have been a grocery store cupcake. Frosting w/ shortening (not butter), cake was dry and pretty flavorless... but the ladies working the counter were so nice.

This is my favorite bakery and spot for coffee in Longmont. Their coffee is some of the best anywhere! The staff are also friendly and kind.

Absolutely delicious and amazing bakery. Great selection, I wanted to buy everything! They have coffee and you can get pizza too. We got there at opening and there was a line. It was my first time so I'm not sure if it's always like that or it was because of Mother's Day. Either way -worth the wait to get a delicious breakfast. I love blueberries and these were perfect. The right amount of blueberries and they were sweet and ripe. Highly recommend!

Yes!!! Finally some good bread! Currently eating the mortadella sandwich baguette and it's making me remember how much I miss good bread since moving to the US from Switzerland. Yes, it's definitely more expensive than the same kind of bread in Europe, but I'm just glad to have found this place! Come in early and get one of these baguettes when they're fresh, and you'll know what I'm talking about. I got my food to go but the cafe looked very cozy too!

Amazing bread, amazing cookies, & great service!!!! Today we got the Pullman Loaf. Perfect crispy crust, amazingly balanced inside! The ginger molasses cookies are awesome- super soft and with the molasses so moist! Everything we have ever had here is amazing! We have been many times but this is the 1st review! We will keep coming back! Hands down the BEST bakery anywhere around!

Pizza is reheated and expensive not worth $7. Cake tasted like almond paste and was $7 way to expensive for the drinks mark up of 200%

The bread is delicious ... the pastries were perfect and the service was friendly and helpful. Try it ... you'll like it!

Fabulous lil find!!!! We have never been disappointed here and we have tried soooo many of the treats. And the pizza was surprisingly yummy. I would suggest going early so you have more options to choose from!

The absolute most amazing food ever!!! I found the Babette's on Yelp and was here from Texas. Wow!! I tried to pick a variety of everything - Meatballs Country loaf Herb crusted loaf Almond croissant Croissant Cinnamon roll Sweet cream Focaccia- artichoke Fresh pasta Tiramisu 2 shirts Latte Every single thing was fabulous - everything! We served the bread at a dinner party and everyone loved it!!

Pretty good - I think it's worth trying, it's just on the pricer end..tried some chocolate bread pudding type of bread and a mushroom goat cheese one - mushroom one was 8/10 and sweet one 7.5/10
