Taiwan Ice Review - North Miami Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"What you’ll find at this North Miami spot is quite different from other versions of shaved ice. Most shaved ice desserts consist of water-based ice and all the flavor comes from syrups and toppings. Here, all the flavor is in the ice itself, which is made out of flavored milk. Because of this, the ice crystals form differently and you get these beautiful, impossibly thin ribbons instead of little granules. We especially love the mango flavor, which tastes like a Miami summer and feels like Dippin Dots’ sexy cousin. You can add all sorts of candy to it like a kindergartner at a yogurt shop, but we stick to a drizzle of condensed milk and some fresh fruit. Taiwan Ice also specializes in ice cream rolls with various toppings, as well as different flavors of boba drinks, like Thai tea and taro." - Carlos C Olaechea

My favorite ‘Taiwanese Ice Cream’ shop so far in Taipei. This place is dairy free, as that is what defines Taiwanese ice cream. Speaking only on the fruit flavors, they use the best quality Taiwanese fruit in their sorbet and you can absolutely taste the quality. Most of the flavors are no sugar added, which is a huge plus for me. The owners are very friendly and rightfully proud of their product. They let you taste all the flavors and also speak English so make it easier for travelers. I got my membership after my first visit and it’s totally worth it. The flavors change very often, so there are almost always new flavors to try.

Sorbet shop located in Dunhua. One should visit for some nice fresh sorbet. The host is super friendly. They would introduce everything they have in detail. Make sure you have at least half an hour to taste everything in their fridge.

Phenomenal! Must try. Dairy-free. Unique flavors. English speaking staff person lets you try every delicious flavor before deciding. We had kumquat, guava, strawberry, taro and red bean. All flavors were delicious. Both kids 13 and 6 loved all the flavors they tried.

Came for the traditional Taiwanese ice cream experience. We tried the full range of available flavors before buying a few scoops because it was our first time. Started slow with fruity flavors, then worked all the way to the alcoholic flavors. This is great for adults who like a shot of alcohol in icy form. My favorite was the sorghum liquor (kinmen kaoliang spirit) 58 proof.

DO NOT EAT IF YOU ARENT BUYING!! Please also be vigilant of the signs (i.e each scoop being at LEAST 80 NTD; required to buy one scoop if you taste test). If you taste test, then you are required to purchase at least one scoop. The ice cream is really good! I don’t know if I would personally come back though. The boss is super nice and patient with explaining all the different flavors and ingredients that go into each ice cream you taste test. I paid $220 NTD for two scoops and my friend who got the specialty flavor paid $380 NTD for two scoops.

Ice cream made from fresh fruits and no artifical flavors. Sherbet texture. No milk. Be sure to try their special flavors.

Makes you pay for the tasting but doesn’t tell you until you’ve tasted. Ended up paying TND 140 for a scoop (about £4). Scam, avoid.
