The 33 Essential Zurich Restaurants

"If you’re lucky enough to snag a seat for breakfast or lunch at this buzzy Altstadt spot, try the rösti, which you can get plain or with an egg. If you’re in a rush, grab a few small loaves of butterzopf (brioche-like bread), which are flaky yet substantial, and excellent with butter and jam. The rest of the baked offerings do not disappoint, including the puckeringly sour lemon cake." - N.A. Mansour

"A Cozy Café in the Center of Town At this perpetually packed café, locals angle for seats around one of the mismatched communal tables before heading to the counter to order the piled-high club sandwich, terrific Caesar salad, or one of the delectable pastries displayed in their baking pans. The vibe is cozy chic done right, with vintage pots and baking molds hanging from the walls and candles in the fireplace. On cool days, patrons who opt for one of the handful of outdoor tables are given Swiss Army blankets to drape over their knees."

Stopped by on our way out of town and had the most incredible breakfast! The yogurt bowl and pastry were insanely delicious. There was a great variety of items and the staff was so helpful and kind. Loved it!

The bagels here are amazing! And the coffee is pretty good too. I think the only “negative” thing to say, is that this is clearly not a secret gem. People in Zürich know about Babu’s and it was difficult to find a spot to sit. We found a long queue and our only option was to sit outside on a freezing day. They offered us blankets but they do not have heaters, so we kinda froze anyways… which wasnt nice 😅 the food also took a while to come out, but I guess that also comes with the place being so popular/busy… either way, this goes to explain why 4 stars and not 5. I look forward to come again and sit inside next time! ————— Came back in June 2025 and still delicious. The prices are pretty steep (19 francs for a bagel!) but it is a safe tasty bet!

I had Babus on my list of places to try during my trip to Zurich, and funny enough, I stumbled upon it by accident on my very first day—without even realizing it at first! The place has a warm, welcoming vibe and was noticeably clean and well-kept, which made for a great first impression. I grabbed a sandwich, and it really hit the spot—fresh ingredients, great flavor, and clearly made with care. Also , ordered the carrot cake. They also had a good variety on the menu, including some solid vegan options, which I appreciated. While I did find it a bit on the pricey side, the quality made it feel worth it. Zurich isn’t the cheapest city anyway, so in that context, the value felt reasonable. I’d definitely like to go back and try more from their menu. Babus is a great little spot to keep in mind if you're in the area.

The food was fantastic! We tried the egg royale and egg Benedict, and the hot chocolate was delicious – it tasted like dark chocolate. The coffee wasn’t particularly special, though. I suggest reserving a table before coming here, as they do accept walk-ins, but a reservation would still be better. The place was also nice. One thing I’d like to mention is that they gave us teaspoons that weren’t washed properly, which is why I’m rating them 4/5. Despite this, I would still recommend this place 😊

My husband and I came here for brunch on a Sunday. It was quite busy, which is expected on a weekend. The brunch itself was nice with a few choices, though the pancake was a bit bland. We also bought some cookies to take with us, but they tasted a bit old and not freshly baked. Overall, it’s a nice café with a pleasant vibe, but the food was just okay.

Google
Switzerland is expensive and this place is no different. The interior looks nice, but the ordering system is ridiculous. You have to stand in one line to get a table, then stand in another line to order and pay. There's no separate queue for people eating in versus takeout, so you're stuck waiting twice. Apparently you can order online, but nobody told us about that option. The food is very ordinary. Scrambled eggs had no salt at all. The hot chocolate was good though. Don't understand what all the hype is about. Seems like people just go because it's trendy, not because the food or service is actually good.

Google
Great breakfast place in zurich. There are a lot of options to choose from on the menu. I ordered the avocado toast and it was perfection. The interior is really nice and great atmosphere. It gets really busy, so you might need to be on the wait list or make a reservation ahead of time.

Google
It was surprisingly busy for a Monday morning, so definitely need to reserve a table. The pancakes with seasonal compott were fluffy and yummy, can definitely recommend. The service was very funny and really nice. One wrong dish arrived at our table, and it was quickly exchanged for the right one with no fuss.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cute little coffee shop in Zurich on a Thursday early afternoon to grab some pastries. There's a wide array of pastries and sweets from cookies to cakes and everything looked so good. I decided to order their lemon cake along with a seasonal cherry tart. The cherry tart was okay. It may have been because we had come in later in the day around 3pm, but the crust tasted a bit stale. The cherry filling was tart which helped to salvage itself, but the real star was the lemon cake. If you're a fan of lemon, then you will love this cake! It's super tart and there's a layer of sour puckering lemony goodness on top of the cake as if the directly squeezed fresh lemon juice on the cake. The cake is also fluffy and moist making it one of the best lemon cakes I've ever had. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and although it was pretty busy, we were still able to grab a table outside. The servers at the front of the pastry counter were all very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
We had a delicious breakfast! The hash browns with eggs and bacon was delicious and the orange juice - both alone or in a mimosa - was delicious. The inside was very cute, you order at the counter and they bring your food out. The service was fast!

Varsha S.

Yelp
Pancakes were amazing, so fluffy! Also loved the mushroom avocado sandwich with creamy cashew sauce. Cute cafe, just a bit expensive.

Yelp
Best breakfast in our 3 week trip to Switzerland. Hands down this place has one of the best pain au chocolates bc each bite is filled with deliciousness - not like most where it's one little square. Also they make awesome egg dishes (fluffy scrambled with cream), a tasty hash brown, and you can taste that they use the freshest ingredients. We also tried the chia pudding with raspberry coulis and various breads. Awesome coffee and fresh juices too. Everything was delicious. This is a very popular bakery with amazing homemade products so if you want to be seated at a table make a reservation which you can do online. You can still get in without a reservation but you may have to wait and the seating for non reservations is either outside, bar by window or communal table. We were lucky enough to get in on two busy weekend mornings and didn't mind where we sat. Both times there was a short wait but the line moves quickly and the food was totally worth it. Casual place and like I said it's busy so more of a laid back ambiance. You order at the counter then a server brings your food. Saw lots of pancakes and these little towers of baked good on other tables which looked tasty as well. No matter what you get I'm sure you'll be happy.

Yelp
Probably one of the best places I've been to for breakfast . The croissant was so yummy ,yogurt so fresh & they served very good coffee . They have a lovely seating area outside so you just sit there and enjoy a really nice breakfast . Very close to Bahnhofstrasse and the old town ,train station so a really good location .

Yelp
Babu's is a super cute coffee shop and brunch spot in Zurich! It reminds me of the spots we have in LA. It was super busy on a Saturday morning and I showed up without a reservation. Since I was alone, the waitress let me have a table but said it was only free for 30 minutes. I was fine with this since I just wanted to try some pastries. I ordered the apple cinnamon roll and a berry yogurt with fruit and granola. The cinnamon roll was not too sweet - definitely felt more healthy than say an American cinnamon roll. The bits of apple were a nice twist! It came out cold - I would've preferred if it were warmed up. The yogurt was my favorite part. Really delicious flavor with fresh fruit and the granola added a good crunch. I will say it took at least 10-15 min for it to be brought to my table, which I was a bit surprised by since I thought both were ready to order. Even the guy who ordered a dish with eggs after me got his food first. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but don't be like me and show up without a reservation especially if you want to try their hot food. Bathroom available. I loved the use of colorful plates and the mix of chairs and table styles. It's like being in someone's home. Definitely would come here a lot if I were a local!

Yelp
Before our long journey of exploration for the day, we stopped by at Babu's Bakery to pick up some caffeine and pastries. The service was quick despite the large wave of commuters in the morning. We were in and out within 5 minutes! The cafe is cute and casual. The dark wood inside makes it very moody and warm!

Yelp
Highly recommend getting a reservation if you want to sit down here. It is SO busy in the mornings. We didn't have a reservation, and were able to get a table, but only for about 45 minutes. That itself was kind of stressful and impacted our experience, but it was my fault for not booking ahead. Hot brunch food was quite good, as was the chia pudding. Baked goods were excellent. But it was PACKED, wall to wall people and luggage (lots of folks who probably just checked out from their hotels?) and felt sort of harried and stressful overall. Space is lovely, with nice homey decor and high ceilings. Standard Zurich prices, which is to say, kind of expensive, but we weren't hungry after eating there. Would go back, with reservations, and at a less crowded time.

Yelp
Wonderful coffeehouse and hopping brunch spot in Zurich. I had the avocado toast with a poached egg. Simply delicious. They also make lovely drinks. They have interesting tea concoctions as well as many coffee and espresso offerings. And their pastries and cakes and cookies looked divine. The host and servers were also wonderful. Given how busy it is on a Sunday, I was amazed at how patient and attentive the staff was. Based on the crowds and lines outside, it is clearly the place to go. Get in line and be prepared to wait. It's worth it.

Yelp
Hidden gem! I came to this brunch spot based on a referral from a friend. Reservation needed if you want a guarantee seating. Luckily I got a table right away without reservations and they were happy to accommodate. I ordered their Cappuccino with bacon avocado eggs Benedict over sweet toast. Super delicious breakfast combo! Have to say this place is really good. Superb staff! Menus in various languages. Delicious carrot cake as well. Definitely going to come back again!

Yelp
I absolutely adored my visit to Babu's. We arrived right at 8A as I expected, coming off of a direct flight from Cairo. I thought I'd planned everything out perfectly by making a rezzie weeks in advance and was so proud of myself as we walked in right on time (after clearing customs and training in) only to find out I'd made the booking for the following day. The host was super accommodating and gave us a lovely table indoors, which was nice since it was raining outside and I'd wanted to be indoors. He confirmed we wouldn't need our reservation for the following day and we ordered a la carte at the front counter. Everything in Babu's is super cute, warm, and welcoming. It felt like a friends cozy cottage. It was everything and more that I was in desperate need of after a chaotic week in Egypt. The pastries looked incredible! One delish option after another. I'd normally order a latte and a pastry but I was really craving a hot breakfast so I opted for the Nutella Pancakes and an oat cappuccino. I hadn't had oat milk in over a week and I was brought back to life by this meal and the atmosphere here. Service was great and I'd definitely return. To dine indoors you'll need your vaccine records and they will be checked, we had ours and our previously taken covid test to fly home into the states so we were able to have our table. Keep this in mind when booking and be ready to present to them. Lovely experience that I am beyond thankful for. I will say our two meals and two espresso bevvies were 65 francs (70usd), so not exactly an inexpensive meal but I could not have cared less, I was just so happy to be here. I could have sat here for hours but after brekke it was time to explore Zurich!

Yelp
Such a cute cafe with superb (midweek) breakfast options. I wish my home city had a place like this!

Yelp
I LOVE this place. Brad found it while searching for a reasonable breakfast place in Zurich (which is notoriously expensive) and it was a hit. There are two lines when you walk in - one for to-go and one for dine-in. If you dine-in they seat you but then you have to order at the counter and go sit down. This made it really organized and there were less people walking around. If you enjoy a continental breakfast, get the Babu's basic breakfast. It highlights their baked goods. I got this and so did Brad but he didn't realize it didn't come with eggs. The cappuccino was perfect! Of course. But the star of the show was the 0.5 l of fresh squeezed orange juice that I didn't take a picture of.

Yelp
the line was out the door for a table so i just got a pastry but i understand why it was so busy this apple streusel was delicious. if i lived in zurich i would spend all my money here

Abbie S.

Yelp
What a great place! Everything was so wonderful. It's a fair price too, for being in Zurich. The pastries were delicious and great serving sizes.

Yelp
We were traveling in Zurich and found Babu's online and we were so happy with the quality of food and service we received. There was a little bit of a wait however it was well worth it for such a charming atmosphere and for amazing customer service. Not to mention the eggs royale and iced chai latte were absolutely incredible!

Hitesh P.

Yelp
Great Avocado Toast and latte.

Pei-Hsin L.

Yelp
My acai bowl was great. Of course I've never met an acai bowl that I didn't like. But my raspberry scone was inedible. Floury instead of buttery, like eating Play-Doh. I'm a sucker for fruit pastries but these cannot compete with Tea & Sympathy's scones in NY. My matcha latte was acceptable, but overpriced. Then I tried to get a green smoothie to go. Sure, size large, why not? They charged 12.50 CHF (wow) to my card. Minutes later they brought me two (tiny... like these would be airport legal) grab-and-go bottles, instead of making one fresh. They let me switch to just one bottle, but could only return the difference in cash. Now I've got a bunch of Swiss coins, but it's been years since I last carried coins. Mistakes were made. I regret everything except the acai bowl.
google avatar

Luna R.

Yelp
Lovely lemon cake! if you want to sit you do need to wait 10-15min depending on the day. The breakfast platter is about $13,- and very small but worth it for a little snack :)

Rae M.

Yelp
Great bakery! We did not have a reservation. We sat outside after ordering and enjoyed a great breakfast and cappuccino. On the expensive side. Great service.
google avatar

Yelp
What to get: Focaccia roll - good savory option. They serve it by warming it up. It was so soft and fluffy. Caffe Mocha - it was good but you can probably get a mocha from Starbucks just as good and cheaper. You can skip: Cinnamon apple roll - did not have a lot of cinnamon and had a few slices of apple. The bread was soft and quite dense. Maybe would have been better warmed up? Croissant - a good croissant but nothing special. Chai latte - the chai was very subtle. Overall, we thought the focaccia roll was worth getting! It's also very unclear about the table/sitting situation. We walked in and waited in line to order to get some pastries and coffee before heading out to Old Town. We thought the table area was for ordering real breakfast. The woman at the register asked us for our table number after ordering and we told her we didn't have a number. She said we couldn't order without a table so I asked if it was possible to get it to go. The person before me had also gotten something to go so I didn't see why it was a problem. I packed our stuff but definitely gave some attitude. She could have asked before we ordered or the place could have a sign about the tables.

Yelp
Oh goodness, 7 years later I'm writing a new review for Babu's. Babu's Bakery is still absolutely delightful. It has many delicious options from the menu and a lot of wonderful types of coffees and desserts. The ambiance continues to be very special and yes, the prices aren't exactly low, but it's nothing unusual compared to Zurich. I plan to continue enjoying Babu's for the next 7 years. Make sure to get here early or make a reservation if you don't want to wait on the weekend.
google avatar

Alice W.

Yelp
Come here early! My friend and I decided to pop by the morning of our flight. We arrived shortly before 9am, and there was already two groups in front of us. By the time they opened the doors, there was a long line of folks. We were seated without reservations because it was early enough, but we could tell from the placecards on the tables that every table had been reserved starting around 10am and onwards. After perusing through the menus, I ultimately settled on an avocado bagel and a cappuccino while my friend ordered the classic lox bagel and a latte macchiato. My bagel was quite substantial, and it came with a side of salad and cucumber slices. I couldn't even finish my entire bagel. The cappuccino was also very good. I personally love that European cappuccinos sprinkle cocoa powder on top - that's not always the case for cappuccinos in America. Definitely a great place to go by yourself, with friends, or with a large group. The only recommendation I have is to either make reservations or to come as soon as they open.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Oh man this probably was one of the best places to have brunch at! But be warned everyone else also loves coming here so I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you can since you will be waiting a long time to be seated. Luckily for me I had come alone, so they squeezed me into that one free stool by the window. Your order your food at the cashier, and then wait to be seat by the hostess, and a fairly reasonable time later your food is delivered. They do have english menus which is a huge plus! The meal was super delicious and loved the fresh fruit smoothie. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a good brunch place!
google avatar

Susanna N.

Yelp
Great ambiance and delicious pastries. Perfect place to study and the coffee is worth it compared to other prices in Zurich. $5.90 for a great, large cappuccino. The tomato soup is also very good, as is the cheesecake and all other pastries I've tried! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Thais Z.

Yelp
The food is great don't get me wrong but the table arrangements is horrible. I visited the restaurant twice, the first time we were seating in front of a building entrance (next to the bakery) and I had to get up about 5 times while eating because people were coming in and out of the building. the second time they didn't tell us that they have no tables left and when we did find one it started to rain and the table, myself and everything else got wet and the waiter asked us if we really wanted to eat there as if there were any tables left. i think the team should start finding a way go rearrange the tables or start looking at the weather before they put tables outside - because a lot of people got wet and had to eat with an umbrella in their hand or even had to stand in order to not get wet.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Look no further in Zürich, this bakery offers some of the best lunch and coffee menus. If you're looking for something light, their bagels are a great choice to split between two people or have for yourself. Complement that with their variety of dessert and you're a winner here. The coffeehouse was generally full and busy, but isn't too hard to find seats for two as people come in and out. Very welcoming with free WiFi and space for many to get work done. Bathrooms are clean and available. The workers are all fast with maintaining the space and their guests with love and care.

Yelp
Gotta love me some Babu! Now, did I come here primarily because of the name? You Betcha! But did I end up liking this place regardless? Yes, indeed! I love the cozy atmosphere and decor of Babu's. It has a simple menu that somehow has enough on it not to leave you wanting. Lots of great drinks and desserts. I had a tea and a waffle (with cream and strawberries) for breakfast. My friend has a coffee with a croissant. Everything was really yummy and light. Also, I liked how it was busy, but not overcrowded, so you can still find a space to sit and hangout... and for those of us visiting, they have wifi ... so Yay! Really nice/friendly staff as well. I would recommend this place! Stay Cheerful ;)
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Babu's is a really solid 4 leaning towards a 5 and just missing it because of the heavy Zurich pricing. It's easy to access (near the center of town), has a very friendly and accommodating staff, and delicious coffee and tea as well as decadent confectionaries (even American style cookies). Being American, I wish they'd lose the cigarette smokers so the rest of us could sit outdoors, but the ambience is extremely comfortable and inviting on the inside. Otherwise, it's really hard to find fault with Babu's.
google avatar

Nataly K.

Yelp
This is definitely the best place for breakfast and late brunch. You need a reservation here or you gonna wait to be sited around 30-40 min. We had avocado-toast, eggs Benedict with bacon and banana pancakes. Everything was very tasty. Portions are quite big and you have an option of ordering small portions. Coffee is great here. Next time in Zurich I gonna visit this place.
google avatar

Meghan V.

Yelp
Babu's was a great coffee shop to hang out in a while after exploring Zürich all day. We had delicious pastries and lattes. The latte are was beautiful. Babu's was very busy the night we went, so finding seating was a bit hard, but we had time to kill and had no problem waiting a few minutes.
google avatar

Leeann L.

Yelp
We had brunch here and on Saturday around 11:00am the waiting time is around 1 hour.So if you wanna come please be prepared--- be patient!! Service is ok. Maybe too many people wait in the queue.. Food is not bad. We ordered the fruit pancakes and rösti with ham. Very fresh food! Latte is also good.
google avatar

Gabriela M.

Yelp
This place is perfect for a Sunday brunch or afternoon coffee in the town...I would recommend to make a reservation, because it gets very busy. Otherwise it has its own atmosphere. I love their coffee and cakes. It is my favourit coffee place in Zurich :) I highly recommend to visit!
google avatar

Yelp
I've heard about this place but didn't realize that it was just around the corner from Vior (old Sugar Lounge) until I went to look for this place because my out-of-town guest wanted to check it out. (He had found it highly rated on Yelp, ;)) It was pretty packed when we walked in, and I was almost afraid that we couldn't get a seat, but then we snagged a spot at the corner of the long table near the front entrance. The place is cute and really looks homey. I saw lots of girls having brunch there, and some guys who were there with their female partners. We were a bit confused about how things worked at first, but I guess you find a seat, order at the counter and tell them your table number, and then they bring the food to you? I couldn't decide what to order (everything on the menu looked so good!) and finally settled on a cappuccino and blueberry pancakes. The cappuccino came with a lovely heart design on top. I love it when I get coffee art in my drinks. :) The blueberry pancakes were a bit smaller than what I expected (I guess I had delusions of grandeur coming from the U.S.), but they were still cute and served with powdered sugar and maple syrup. I thought the food was fine, but nothing spectacular that blew me away. I guess just normal, thick pancakes. I did like the fresh blueberries though. All-in-all, nice food in a cute place. But a teensy bit overpriced by American standards. (I guess normal by Swiss standards though.)
google avatar

Clara L.

Yelp
came for the waffles got two - one with chocolate and one with just powdered sugar sadly, i felt like they were just slightly above-average waffles that we can find anywhere in the states
google avatar

Josephine K.

Yelp
I managed to visit the bakery and coffee shop during a connection I had in Switzerland. It was a few blocks from Zurich HB and it was the only shop open on a Sunday morning! Upon arriving, I ordered my breakfast at the counter and got the Plain Bagel and Apple Cider. I sat down near the window area and waited. The server came by and gave me my dish. Normally in the States, you only get a plain bagel with cream cheese. However, mine came with a side of cherry tomatoes and cucumbers which was a surprisingly good complement to the bagel. It was warmly toasted and the cream cheese was not too strong in taste. My apple cider was also nice and hot with a real slice of apple for garnish. Both were delicious and I am making this my go-to place for a quick bite to eat in Switzerland.

Yelp
Not a bad option if you want a Rosti Breakfast and good coffee in a nice setting that is walking distance to the Zurich Main Train Station. Fried Eggs and Bacon on Rosti. Smoked Salmon with Cream Cheese on Rosti....delicious. The only downside is the service is a bit spotty (Swiss Service is an oxymoron) and its a very long wait for a table if you don't have a reservation. Oh, and - this is Zurich. Breakfast and Coffee for two runs you $100+.

Maddy C.

Yelp
Great food and coffee. Their banana pancakes are delicious. Gets pretty crowded, might be expected to sit outside.

Ryan B.

Yelp
Large brunch menu (had avocado toast and hash - very tasty and large portions). Coffee was also very good and there's a large pastry selection. Everyone around us was ordering breakfast towers which looked delicious. It was very busy, so if you can make a reservation that would be smart (they were able to seat us without one, but the table was only available for 40 minutes) staff were nice and helpful.
google avatar

Bea B.

Yelp
I'd give it an extra star for the ambiance. It is probably one of the most inviting spots in town to have a sit-down and a nibble. I went by to check the area, (House Hiltl is right around the way) stop in and try a beverage. The capp with a little bit o'cake on the side was gorgeous, if, however, not up to snuff if one is a fan of 'third-wave' espresso drinks a la Gorilla and Joe's in NYC and Monmouth, Dark Fluid, Speakeasy et al in LDN. I loved being able to sit at the window, sip my drink, and watch passersby. That's the best way to enjoy a coffee. Regarding service, I found it to be very fine indeed. The folk were nothing but professional and friendly. I suppose if I were to become a more frequent visitor, then I may have to contend with occasional 'spotty' service as Laura A. mentioned in her review. The place is so darn good-looking, that I'd take the so-so service just to be able to sit somewhere so very nice.

Yelp
For breakfast in Zurich, this place is the real deal. My colleagues went with traditional morning fare (Bacon, eggs, potatoes) and it looked fantastic. Surprisingly, they had Açaí on the menu so I had to try it as I haven't seen that anywhere else in the 10 days I was in Switzerland. I did add a side of scrambled eggs and everything was delicious. The açaí was fresh and the eggs had a nice "slightly runny" texture. The accompanying cappuccino was also good although there are better options throughout the city. The place was open on a Sunday and was somewhat crowded. About 3 groups waiting for a table when we arrived around 10:30am. The cafe itself is charming. It's not very large and you order & pre-pay at the counter then walk to your designated section. We sat at the window bar which was facing the street which provided us with a nice view of people watching and seeing Zurich's fancy cars stroll by. As is everything in Zurich, this place can be pricey for breakfast and will set you back approximately $25-$35 USD per person. It is near the main shopping district so it's a great option on Saturday's when everything else is open.

Yelp
Babu's is so good that I have told friends coming to Zurich that they must visit! Delicious (non-lo-cal) pastries, and the best cappuccino in Europe (so far...but on a mission to prove myself wrong). Watch out for the salt container on the table - with my first coffee here, I mistook it for the sugar container...surprise! In my defense, the staff said that happens all the time (but they quietly removed the salt when they put my replacement beverage on the table). Ten minute walk from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main train station), easy to find (sign on the building that can be seen a block away). Lots of shopping nearby. Lots of locals here - moms with baby strollers, couples, friends, and singles at the bar stools near the window. Just find a seat (shared tables) and enjoy. Bring a book to read or friend to talk with because you will want to spend time here. This would be my neighborhood hangout if I moved to Zurich...

Yelp
So so so very good! We stopped in for a sweets and caffeine fix - Babu's has iced coffee drinks, so both the hubby and I tried an iced toffee coffee. It was good, but had large chunks of toffee in it that were too chewy and sweet for my taste - Should've just went with the iced cappuccino, though the husband loved his. For the sweets: husband had the carrot cake and I ordered a waffle with cream and honey. I don't even like carrot cake, but their's was DELICIOUS! Do note though: the slices are ginormous! My waffle was perfect - Not too sweet, not too big, just pure waffle and honey heaven! Highly recommend Babu's!

Yelp
Came here for lunch. Very cute/quaint ambiance and would visit again for this reason. Would pass on the food. Ordered the Salad w/Chicken and it was so so. All the ingredients were set on a plate, not mixed. The dressing was in a gravy boat on the salad plate; felt like it wasted a lot of plate space that could of been for food. Not worth the price, and the flavor didn't make up for this. Ordered an Americano and it was good. Light/Med body coffee. Would come back for coffee and the casual spot to meet a friend. They have table bread they cut for you and bring to your table. Bread was good. *Start the loyalty card for coffee

Yelp
Excellent breakfast! Ordered banana pancakes and a pumpkin spice latte. Pancakes were incredibly light and fluffy - some of the best I've ever had. Latte was also wonderful. Very cute interior. Gets very crowded though - was easy to find a seat since I was traveling alone but I would advise going early if you're a larger group.

Yelp
Fantastic brunch and service! We visited Zurich this past weekend and per usual I had scouted out a number of dining options for us. Babu's is a place you might normally pass by; but once you peek inside you find a packed cafe with hip decorations and mouthwatering baked goods on display. Our waitress came by and we pointed to the tiered plates that we saw on a few tables. She explained that the portion would feed both of us and we could also choose between eggs or pancakes in addition to the included OJ and coffees of our choice. In no time we were sipping on delicious cappuccinos and the freshest orange juice. Then just as quickly she delivered the brunch masterpiece which included homemade brioche, rolls, jams, muesli, fruit, cheese and cured meats. Everything was so delicious and we hardly had room once the eggs and pancakes arrived, but we of course suffered through :) As with everything in Switzerland, foods comes at a hefty price but once you make peace with that, you are ready for Babu's.

Yelp
Babu's is definitely worth a visit. It came highly recommended by many locals and the food was excellent. They have delicious pastries, amazing coffee, and a very pleasant ambiance. One of my favorite spots in Zurich!

Yelp
When it comes to eating out, I am as picky about the place as I am about the food. I don't like dark, gloomy places, no matter how good the food might be. I don't like places with really uncomfortable seats, or where the atmosphere is stiff and formal - both things prevent me from relaxing, and that makes my meal/coffee break a lot less enjoyable. Babu's, opened in June 2011, is exactly what Zurich was missing: a place to get a coffee, a snack, a quick but delicious lunch, or to linger and chat with a friend or read a book by the fireplace (in winter) or people-watch while sitting at the vintage iron tables outside, by the gorgeous vases of hydrangeas (in summer). Behind its doors you can find freshly baked bread (which my discerning Italian palate found irresistibly delicious) and great cappuccinos; sandwiches made with the fabulous bread they bake fresh daily on the premises, several salads, made with fresh ingredients and also accompanied by a basket filled with a variety of breads to sample (my favorite? the veggie one with fleur de sel) and if you just fancy a nibble, lots of desserts and baked goods to accompany your tea or coffee. The friendly atmosphere and quirky, elegant-comfy (Californian-French, as a friend described it) decor round up the place nicely; and if that wasn't enough, the carved wood shelves at the entrance are filled with gorgeous items that are actually for sale: candles, pottery, burlap totes and other lovely things. Perfection! (Note: The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is that they don't offer non-dairy alternatives when making coffee drinks, and I have missing out of deliciousness because of my dairy intolerance!)
