Food: best chicken parm and handmade pasta I’ve ever had. I substituted pappardelle for penne and Arabiatta for Alfredo. Salads were excellent as were the charcuterie options. Service: we sat at the bar and loved hanging out with Jessica, the bartender. Atmosphere: great vibe, music and bar seating Highly recommend

Google
Had a good time but thought the food was just okay. For the appetizer the eggplant was tough and rubbery and the Buffalo mozzarella was actually a lil dry (usually the opposite problem). The chicken was swimming in the sauce so was pretty soggy. Pasta alla Norma was pretty yummy.

Really average execution of some simple menu items. Food had very little flavor. Overall, I did not feel like it was worth the money.

Friday dinner:(~7 pm) - Walk-in, we(4) got seated immediately. Lovely place, great vibe to go on a double date😅, recommended by a friend from the city(5yrs). A little bit on the expensive side. - Ordered Cheesy garlic bread for appetiser, it’s yummy and filling. -Tried “Gold rush/Golden nugget” martini, it’s okay, a little too much ginger for me. -Ordered Linguine Scampi(Shrimp) for entree, it’s the nice portion size, well flavoured, and a perfect dish, the number of shrimp was good too. I’d order again and recommend as well. - Served in 10 min. Server was sweet and accommodating. Space was clean and was little congested. Parking was okay.

Google
Very chill atmosphere, friendly servers, and great food. I ordered the Frutti De Mare. It had great flavor and a bit of heat on the back end I loved. The sea food was just a hair overdone but considering we are nowhere near an ocean I can't complain too much. I would definitely go back.

Google
the mussels were exquisitely cooked, and big! Loved the romaine and pear and cheese salad, with candied walnuts for dessert! Highly recommend Russel's place, been going for years..

Google
I had the worst experience with my food, ordered the Pollo puttanesca which came with grilled chicken. The pasta was good and the sauce accompanying it was delicious but the chicken strips were absolutely awful. If I had bought chicken at Costco and warmed it up it would have been better. It was chewy, non descriptive looking and awful in taste. I should have refused to eat the food but I’m not one to judge and make a fuss. It was extremely disappointing and disgusting. This is an establishment that has a pretty nice menu and the pricing reflects that the expectation is higher. Please do better.

We've eaten here twice now and I haven't been pleased either time. The latest (yesterday) my dish was so salty that it was inedible... tasted so salty it feels like it either had to be done on purpose or that the chef accidentally dropped the salt shaker into the sauce and forgot about it. I ordered the rigatoni w/ prosciutto, asked for roasted garlic instead of red onions. To make matters worse, our young waitress dropped off the food and never returned to check on us until what seemed about 30 minutes later. Things I don't like about this place: * They've a mozzarella bar, but all the mozarella bar dishes force you to select two other things like tomatoes or olives. Why can't we get mozzarella alone, or mozzarella and meat, and call it a day? * Mozzarella doesn't even feature prominently in their own dishes. That rigatoni I mentioned above, why doesn't it have big pieces of mozzarella by default? * Most of their dishes are seafood- and meat- heavy, or have mushrooms (not a vegetable). Very little besides salads for a vegetarian to love here. This is strange to me, since Boulder is full of vegetarians and vegans. * Wine by the glass here is a complete rip-off imo. I could see maybe spending $13+/glass for a bottle of Michael David Rapture somewhere, but the wine list I saw is absurd at these prices. It feels like this restaurant hates their customers and wants to treat them with utter contempt. * Finally, the atmosphere is very LOUD. The ceiling here is the worst material and acoustics for a restaurant. We were situated near a table of cackling women and I got cold chills down my neck with each ensuing loud cackle. The entire place was just terribly loud.

Yelp
Beet salad was delicious, fresh crisp greens, yummy walnuts, perfectly prepared golden beets. Pizza crust was great. Pizza was tasty but too much cheese for my taste.

Candace R.

Yelp
Great service nice ambience. The Baccos salad was out of this world however I ordered the ruby red trout entrée and was disappointed and I highly regret that I didn't send it back. Especially considering that it almost cost $30. I even had some leftover and threw it away. I've never met a trout I didn't love. Ruby or rainbow. It's one of my favorite foods and this fillet was huge but tasted like it had been frozen for 25 years. No flavor. The spinach and potatoes that accompanied it were great. I would only return for the salad. Unfortunately, I took some of the chocolate mousse home for later, and it was extremely disappointing as well. I really wanted to like this restaurant more than I did.

Matthew R.

Yelp
This place is way better than the 3.5 rating. The place has great food and service. The food is fresh and prepared to order.

Jody A R.

Yelp
The perfect go-to neighborhood place! The staff and owner are friendly and attentive, the entrees are always delicious, and the service is on time. The carbonara and chicken saltimboca are my favorites, and my husband usually orders one of the mozzarella or bruschetta selections with a mista or arugula salad. Pasta's always fresh. The great atmosphere and reliable experience make it!

Julie E.

Yelp
The delicious charcuterie board was great- the customer gets to choose from an array of different cheeses, meats, side such as fruit marmalade, olives and grilled vegetables. Ours was perfect because all our favorites were on our custom board. Their wine menu is very thorough to please any palate. Then we ordered 3 different pasta dishes- creamy pesto gnocchi, tagatelle, and the paperdelle. Every pasta complimented the whole meal. The soft pillowy homemade gnocchi was the best I've had in years! The in restaurant homemade bread and dishes were just what we needed after a day of hiking in Boulder. Can't wait to try more authentic menu items at Bacco

Mercer D.

Yelp
Service was quite good, we easily found two tasty glasses of wine, the fresh bread was really good, as was the pesto dip that came with it. And the flourless chocolate cake and ice cream was delicious. It's a shame the rest of the food is so subpar. Why is the chicken parm not breaded? Are the brussels sprouts supposed to be mushy and in need of seasoning? Filet mignon was ordered medium and delivered dry and very well done. The quality of dining out in Boulder has come up, but it seems like Bacco has slid in the wrong direction. I hope they make some changes in the kitchen. Bacco has so much potential.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoy our time at Bacco! We eat there about twice a month. Great food, service and atmosphere! Thank you all!

Yelp
We have enjoyed Bacco a number of times over the years. I understand from someone -- not sure if it's true -- that they may be under new management or ownership since Covid? If so, I applaud them that they not only kept the quality, but perhaps even raised it a tad. Recently we've dined there twice with friends -- once with a big table for a special holiday outing, & once just skating in the door after a show right before the restaurant's closing. Both times they were welcoming & the food was very good. The service is attentive and friendly, too, & the wines are quite nice. It is as close to an authentic Italian trattoria as you may get in this area. (I lived in Italy for some years, in north, central and south.) Perhaps my only criticism -- not a very typical American one -- is that they've made the portions larger now. Nonetheless, with food that yummy, it's nice to have leftovers to bring home. Buon appetito e buon divertimento! (Enjoy your meal & have fun!)

Yelp
Super fun little place to stop by, I've been eyeing this place for a while now but finally had the chance to come with my boyfriend! I wasn't disappointed. The food was amazing, we got a few things to try like the cheese board, cheese bread and we loved it, also the bread that came out complimentary was a great touch, the pesto that comes with it made me so happy! I got the rigatoni vodka pasta with prosciutto it was insane. I've never had cooked prosciutto before and it's definitely a new favorite, my boyfriend also really liked it and wished he ordered it too. The waitress was super nice and helpful with everything and the food didn't take long at all to come out. It was a nicely lit restaurant not too big or crowded which was nice and I honestly will be coming back as soon as I can!

Yelp
Love this place! Every dish I've tried is really good. Glad I retried it, just wish it was open later.

Yelp
Delicious! Great service and a local business. Food is delicious and they have an extensive menu and fabulous happy hour!

Yelp
Nice people and interesting menu. Unfortunately, the food really doesn't live up to its billing. Not sure I'd choose to eat here again. The white wine menu if severely lacking.

Yelp
I'm so confused, was this supposed to be a soup? I opened my to go box to find my Alfredo Pasta swimming in a bath of tomato sauce. Image on the left is what's listed on door dash. Image on the right is what was received.

Yelp
We dined at Bacco while in Boulder. We happened upon this restaurant and thankful we did! The pasta and food are great, and the price for a great meal are perfect! The staff are hard working and friendly--- highly recommend!

Yelp
The trout fish dish was tender and tasted very good, perfect flavor with caper. Tiramisu is overpriced and disappointing for an Italian restaurant. Although the serving is large, half of the tiramisu is topped with whipped cream and chocolate fudge which is not authentic. Food packaging for doordash order is subpar. Used a paper box for a dish with sauce on it. Half of the box was soaked and leaked into the plastic bag before it was opened. Did not include utensils as requested.

Robin C.

Yelp
Bacco hosted our son's rehearsal dinner for 40 and it couldn't have gone better! The food was all delicious, the space inviting and the staff were friendly and attentive. Russell was very professional, offering suggestions to make the evening go smoothly. Would definitely recommend Bacco for a private event!

Luke V.

Yelp
I don't ever really write reviews on businesses, but when I see Bacco without a 5/5 on Yelp I gotta help spread the word. Bacco is my favorite Italian restaurant in the entire world. My go to dish is the chicken Parmesan.. it is the best dish in Boulder. Alfredo penne paired with the mozzarella smothered chicken is just to die for. Love bacco, always demand that company from out of town go here when visiting.

Yelp
First time diners who will be back! Went with another couple, and they loved it there for their first time as well. Our server was friendly, attentive and efficient. My pomegranate martini was delicious. The menu has a lot of choices. I ordered the salmon entree which came as a nice sized portion with mashed taters and spinach; brought half home for another meal. Both guys ordered the cioppino which came in a giant bowl full of delicious broth and lots of fresh seafood. They commented that the bread brought to the table tasted wonderful. My friend ordered eggplant parm and was very impressed. We arrived about 5 on a Friday and the place quickly filled up by the time we left around 6. Looking forward to going back soon. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Russel runs a great restaurant with attentive staff and wonderful eats. We love eating out on the patio when the weather cooperates!
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
The first time we were here it was fantastic Went here last night with a group of 6 and it was very disappointing The octopus app had too much sauce and too many potatoes The fried calamari app was terrible. Tasted like store bought frozen The chiopino tasted like seafood in tomato soup My wife's eggplant was undercooked (although they did credit us for the latter) So wanted this to be our fav Italian rest. But this time it was a huge disappointment On the only plus side the server(s) were outstanding!!
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Linguine Scampi was absolutely divine. Moving to Colorado from New York it's tough to find good quality, straightforward, no frills, Italian food. Bacco nailed it. Deada** b, this New Yorker is happy.

Yelp
I've been to this place many times over the years, and am finally getting around to writing a review. In short, my FAVORITE Italian food in CO. I'm 50+ years old, and have eaten a lot of great food in my time, but these guys stand apart from the rest. Some of my recommendations: charcuterie board and their cheeses which are legit Italian renditions, the gnocchi, the spaghetti/meatballs, and the pizzas. Take a chance with this place. I've never had a bad meal there.

Marlys L.

Yelp
Russell and his team did a BEAUTIFUL job with our son's rehearsal luncheon. The food and wine was yummy and the staff was very attentive. We had the place to ourselves for 3 1/2 hours! We are so grateful for a thoughtful and delicious experience. Thank you!!

Brendan O.

Yelp
Good stuff. Solid cured meats. Solid fresh bread. Solid service. Solid wine. Solid pasta. Solid solids.

Yelp
The customer service at this place was top notch during my visit. From the greater when I walked in the door, to manager behind the bar who periodically walked over to my table to check on me, to my amazing server that was so attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I wish that more people interacted like her instead of the meat robots that much of the food service industry has become. While waiting for my meal, I was served tasty bread with olive oil and seasoning to dip in that I wasted no time devouring and washing down with a local draft IPA. I ordered the penne salsiccia with additional roasted red peppers and asparagus; it was exactly what I wanted. The garlic cream sauce was rich and the veggies added that extra boost I was looking for. I'll definitely come back to this place the next time I'm in town, and I'd like to thank this restaurant for the pleasant experience.

Chris W.

Yelp
Great wait staff, great food and generous portions (that feel like fair exchange) make this our go to place for date night.

Peter B.

Yelp
Russell and his team are always welcoming The food , especially chicken francais excellent and the burratta mozarella the best in Boulder.

Steve W.

Yelp
Coming home to Boulder after 2 yrs of Kauai life, we couldn't wait to get back to one of local Favs; Bacco Trattoria. Saturday night out w my bride, anticipating a good meal. Sadly, something has been lost in the past 24 months. Minestrone Soup; watery, little flavor, scant veggies, no pasta. Caesar Salad w Salmon; basically vinegar and oil dressing and a piece of "Salmon Jerky". No flavor salad and the driest salmon I've ever been served. So disappointing.

Beth K.

Yelp
The cheese AND "fresh" bread got dry, and the portions even smaller. I'd rather park on Pearl Street

Peter S.

Yelp
Had a really amazing dining experience at Bacco this evening. Our server was amazing, the foot was top notch, and the owner and his wife stopped by and caught up with us and chatted which is always nice. Can't say enough about this place - first time there and we'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews--I've had great service every time I've visited Bacco. I could live on their homemade mozzarellas and fresh gnocchi with the pesto cream sauce. You can taste how fresh all the ingredients are. The gnocchi is the best I've had since my trip to Italy too! Their portions are decent without being gigantic too.

Yelp
My pre-pandemic experiences at Bacco were always quite satisfying, and last night's dinner brought some unsavory surprises: my wife's grilled Ahi tuna, and it's accompanying greens, arrived so over salted we had to ask the server to remake it. My eggplant was undercooked and bland, yet the accompanying pasta in cream sauce was too salty (someone needs to plug some of the holes in their salt shaker in the kitchen). But the saving grace, was that my father-in-law's Cioppino Di Bacco was a sublime experience for him, tickling his Italian genes on the eve of his send off to Rome. I realize that Bacco, like many restaurants, is struggling with staffing issues which may account for the inconsistencies in the food quality. I'm hoping our next visit will be less problematic.

Patty F.

Yelp
Best italian I have had from Boulder to Longmont in quite a while. From the appetizers (calamari, octopus, avocado bruscetta, asparagus) to the dinners (shrimp scampi, arrabbiata, pizza), all were great. We will make this our regular spot from now on!

M.B. L.

Yelp
Have ordered delivery service/to go from this restaurant at least 4-5 times in the last year. Loved the ravioli and pizza best. Meatballs were good but a little bland to me personally. Meals are always packaged well. It was shaping up to be some of my favorite Italian in town... Unfortunately, we ordered a few bread boxes with dip earlier this summer while having family over for dinner, and I noticed that literally every piece of bread had mold on it. Not just one, but literally spots of mold on the crust of multiple pieces. This just made me nervous to eat the rest of our meal, as I'm pregnant and really don't want to risk getting sick from food. It's a shame, because I've liked their food in the past, but this just made me doubt the quality control and if corners are being cut due to covid. I don't see how anyone packaging our order could have NOT seen the mold.
google avatar

Henry B.

Yelp
You can't put a price on quality, this place has put a heavy discount on perfection, as that's as close to what their food tastes like. Spaghetti and Meatballs.
google avatar

Todd B.

Yelp
Went with four people, tried the mozzarella bar with 3 cheeses and 4 condiments. All of the cheese and toppings were great! Full of flavor and the avocado bruschetta was a hit as well. The house bread could be better (if warmed up,) but was decent enough. The restaurant is one room that can be loud; therefore, if you cannot hear well, be prepared for it. Service was good but drinks took a while to be obtained. For the entree, I had the butternut squash ravioli which was very good with a light broth that I did not expect. It was strong in aromatics with sage and reduced white wine. Two other companions had the linguine scampi with shrimp which lacked any flavor. Although it was cooked well with the pasta al dente, and the shrimp nice and pink, both companions had to add a lot of salt, pepper, and parmesan to make the dish edible. It could not have been further opposite from my experience. For dessert we tried just about everything they had and nothing disappointed. I especially liked the tiramisu. I will be back, but will be sure and never order the scampi. Maybe their chefs will read this and make adjustments to an otherwise great experience.

Yelp
Excellent service, great ambiance and delicious food! Fav Italian restaurant in Boulder!

Yelp
This place is fire. i don't eat italian food often, but I would definitely go here again and recommend checking it if you dig italian food. I had the bolognese with the house made pasta, sauce was delicious & the pasta was so darn tasty and perfectly cooked. and the cannoli, holy moly I could've eaten 10.

JM L.

Yelp
every 1-2 years I give this place a chance and have dinner there as its in my neighborhood....and each time I leave feeling very unsatisfied thinking I won't be going back. And then a year or two passes and I give it another shot and leave with the same thought that I won't be returning. The menu looks good....but unfortunately, the menu might taste as good as the food!

Wallace S.

Yelp
I had the CIOPPINO DI BACCO (Fresh fish, shrimp, clams, mussels and scallops in a spicy seafood broth with fresh herbs and linguine, topped with garlic crostini), and one of the others in our party of five had the same. It was molto delizioso .. very delicious. We both agreed. Everyone else loved their food and the garlic bread was fantastic. We ate outside and it was fine and the service was very good. Will definitely go back.

RIchard D.

Yelp
I would give it a 4 1/2, mainly because there is sometimes a bit too much sauce with some of the specialty pasta. Bolognese sauce is great comfort food, particularly with the house made tagliatelle and the lasagna. The capesante appetizer is superb and the braseola bruchetta is another keeper. The restaurant has become our local go to place, particularly by arriving soon after 4 PM. Noise level can increase at busy times. Waitstaff have always been excellent The owners are wonderful people who seem to have a heart for trying to make their restaurant a welcome, friendly, neighborhood place to relax and enjoy good food.

Laurie A.

Yelp
Consistently excellent food, good service, nice atmosphere. Great for a light meal of tapas or a full dinner- I've had Pollo Bacco - chicken with mushrooms, pearl onions and pacellta in a garlic goat cheese red wine reduction sauce with roasted potatoes - wow! One of the few places that doesn't skimp on portions. My friends say the pizza and pastas are great too. Have come here many times!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place more as it is a cute spot and a little off the beaten path away from the crowds. However, the food was marginal and the service was awful. We were served part of dish completely frozen and when we asked we were told they ran out so they got more from the freezer. It proceeded to melt on to the rest of the food on the plate making it all unappetizing. They gave us another side but when asked to just take it off our bill they refused and made us feel uncomfortable for even asking. In addition 2 items were completely forgotten (an appetizer and a glass of wine). Maybe all of that could be excused if the food was better but we got three different pasta dishes and there wasn't anything special about any of them (salty, ravioli seemed frozen and tomato sauce was bland). And to call yourself a mozzarella bar and then serve what tasted like supermarket mozzarella was disappointing. Maybe the burrata would have been better.

James H.

Yelp
It is My new fav Italian place to eat in Boulder!! Love the bread and the pasta dishes! I will be back soon!!!
