Google
Deli is legit, lots of good options preselected menu items or anything you want custom. Lots of good snack and drink options. Also great options for a last minute gift (wine, crackers, cheese, chocolate)

Google
Great selections (a couple very cool liquors you don't see everywhere!) and also super great staff! They were in super high spirits about the loud and boisterous pride celebration happening outside - felt very welcome as a QTPOC. Thanks!

I worked there for 5 years, hard work and dedication. Went above and beyond for this man. I went on Vacation in May of 2024, I came back from vacation and worked a whole shift. During the shift it was the regular as any other day. But at the end of my shift after a vacation from spending money on my kids coming up from Jersey he pulls me in the office and laid me off. There's no trust in this man. Very unprofessional. Communication helps. It was blind sided by me. I would not support this business at all.

Google
I recently visited Bacco’s Wine & Cheese with high expectations based on the stellar reviews, but my experience was disappointing, to say the least. The store itself is lovely, offering a well-curated selection of wines and cheeses, but the atmosphere was unexpectedly tense due to the owner’s behavior. While browsing, I couldn’t help but notice the owner speaking to his staff in an unprofessional and rude manner. He was visibly frustrated and, rather than handling it privately or calmly, chose to berate his employees in front of customers. His tone was loud and dismissive, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. I felt terrible for the employees, who seemed embarrassed but continued to work diligently despite the disrespect. It’s clear that a lot of effort has gone into the product selection and presentation here, but the owner’s demeanor overshadowed any enjoyment of the visit. I believe that a business can only thrive when there is respect and a positive work environment. Hopefully, the owner reflects on this and considers a more respectful approach to managing his team, as it undoubtedly affects the overall experience for customers. Until then, I’d recommend looking elsewhere if you’re hoping for a friendly, welcoming shopping environment

Google
Went in to get a sandwich, told the man behind the counter I'd need a few moments to make my selection. He gave me attitude, and the sandwich wasn't even that good, especiallyfor the price i was charged. Don't trouble yourself. They have other great selections, and other nice staff, but I won't be coming back any time soon.

Lilli M

Google
Impressive selection of wines and cheeses with extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. They also have a wide variety of fresh bread, liquor, groceries, and produce, plus a delicious deli and sandwich counter. Not your average local market - a true gem!

Tom N.

Google
Fantastic place! Went looking for breakfast in this area and both places we went to no longer exist. Walked in here not knowing they serve breakfast and had the best breakfast of our entire time in Boston. The lunch menu looked great. Wish we were in this area for lunch. Also a great selection of cheese, fruit, wine, bottled drinks, everything. You will thank me for recommending this place. You. are. welcome!

Ann S

Google
They are super helpful; my roommate went to buy cheese and didn’t know what to get and they helped pick the best cheddar we’ve ever had! We were also pleased to see that they carry ethically sourced and locally made chocolate bars. Good selection of wine and very interesting and unique craft beers!

Yelp
Ordered the Italian sandwich for lunch and really enjoyed it. The ingredients were fresh - a very nice balance between the meats, balsamic glaze, and ciabatta. Would recommend getting it toasted. Will be back in the future to try new food

Yelp
Used to come here all the time for lunch during work and absolutely loveeee their cranberry chicken salad sandwich. Workers were always so nice and usually knew my order when I walked in lol. So heartbroken I moved away but look forward to stopping by whenever I visit Boston again

Yelp
Recently, I went to a wine tasting at Bacco's. Let me tell you something. Never at any point in time would I think I would be met with such unexpected rudeness. The owner, probably the one with the gray hair, just came out of the blue with such an abrasive tone telling me that me not purchasing something is considered disrespectful. I felt that was wrong for the simple fact that this was never mentioned previously and now for some strange reason, it becomes an issue. I did not think that a wine tasting experience can turn a personal ambiance very uncomfortable. I fully acknowledge that it is a business but I believe no owner should ever speak to a potential customer ever so rudely, regardless of their personal reason for being there.
google avatar

Brock W.

Yelp
Great cheese, excellent customer service. If you need wine/cheese champagne and more, this is a one stop shop! Enjoy

Matt C.

Yelp
Ordered a buffalo chicken wrap for the first time and was happy with the taste but very unhappy with the value. $14.97 for a wrap that took probably nine bites to eat. Bacco's really needs to get bigger wraps or price sandwiches accordingly. This sandwich was miniature. I can get far more food from a number of nearby places for a couple dollars less. Wish I took a photo!

Mike F.

Yelp
Sandwich was an inedible mess - 20 dollars for a chicken sandwich for which the chicken was hard and rubbery, had to throw the whole thing away - plenty of other lunch spots around.

Yelp
The first thing I noticed about this place is how DELIGHTFUL it smelled when I walked in! So smoky, peppery. I could smell the cheese/meat/charcuterie. I just stopped in quickly to buy some hard ciders and wine. All ciders were by a boutique brand and were tasty and light! The wine was fantastic. My price tag was super cheap for what I got! This place has a lot of higher level wines that you might not be able to find other places. Very well curated. Again, it was a quick stop, so I didn't get to try the cheese and charcuterie, but that smell is heaven. I'll be back! They also seem to have a very carefully curated grocery. Would love to have something like this near me.

Anthony M.

Yelp
Do not eat their Chicken Shawarma, got it yesterday and have been in bed sick as a dog sense. Their sandwiches seem fine but this was next level fail

Ron J.

Yelp
Simply stated, the sandwich I had was exceptional! I ordered the Italian sandwich and it had the usual meats and cheese that you would expect, along with a nice balsamic glaze. The thing that pushed it to a new level to me was the peppadew spread. It was a salty, vinegary, sweet flavor bomb that took the sandwich to a new level! The staff was friendly, although it was a little difficult to know where to go or just how things worked for a first time patron. Thankfully the first bite of the sandwich erased all confusion and made the stop more than worth it!

Yelp
Such a cute cheese shop! The person working the front counter (I didn't catch her name) was SO helpful. I told her I wanted to buy a few cheeses for just 2 people. She really took her time and let me sample several cheeses before deciding on a few, even though she knew I wouldn't be making large purchase. They also have wine, crackers, etc. --everything you need for a perfect charcuterie board. The prices were affordable as well, although I would be willing to pay more based on the quality of the product and service.
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a bottle wine. Walked out with several bottles, cheese, and a few other snacks including a delicious box of sugared plums. This is a great place to load up. There was an ongoing wine tasting. At first I was confused about it- was it a private tasting? I asked questions about wine and then they poured a glass so I realized it was a general tasting. The guys behind the "bar" were extremely knowledgeable about the wine they had. And a few cheeses were out to taste near the cheese section. This solidified my choice. Would highly recommend this place!
google avatar

Trish L.

Yelp
Excellent selection of wines and gourmet foods. Friendly staff and convenient downtown location. Nicely designed store with big windows for good lighting.
google avatar

Marissa R.

Yelp
Reasonable prices for quality treats-- what's not to like? The first time I came here, I was new to the Boston area and in search of local honey for a gift. The salesman was able to guide me through the various choices, explaining the flavor profiles and textures of each. I left with a jar that I considered pretty affordable for the quantity/quality, and the gift recipient was very pleased with it. Bob Bacco himself is very friendly, thoughtful, and professional. His gift recommendations are well thought out and I have always heard amazing feedback from people who receive the gift baskets and wine from here. The baskets are easy to personalize based on price and content. I would highly recommend Bacco's for all your entertaining purposes; there are great staples for wine & cheese nights with guests, or even just to add to your own dinners/meals.

Brooke J.

Yelp
Great store, however, one of the women who run the checkout acts pretty snooty which doesn't suit her at all bless her heart. Still a great little store.

Tedd S.

Yelp
I haven't been there for years but went this afternoon and it was a great surprise. They have so many wonderful items that we found lots of things to get for holiday gifts. Unusual jams, locally made chocolates, my friend's favorite anchovies, great crackers and even some rose. The owner and his staff were very nice too. This place is a wonderful find and a well kept secret. Let's change that. It's nice to have a little store like this in the neighborhood when all of the mega stores are everywhere. Let's support it so it stays around. Boston's needs special places like this.

Yelp
I went here on an amazing co "mystery picnic." The mystery picnic was terrible, a true waste of money. However, the food at Bacco's was the only good point. It was excellent, well presented and well thought out.
google avatar

Betsy B.

Yelp
Extraordinary. There wine and cheese selection is fantastic and unique. There lunches are fresh and delicious.
google avatar

Farrah S.

Yelp
A cheese deli- a freakin' cheese deli! Did I die and go to heaven? Bacco's has an incredible assortment of cheese, wine, beer, charcuterie supplies, and artisan goods. They have wine tastings daily and the staff is so nice! If you're a wine and cheese lover (which is pretty much everyone) you must visit this local gem.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
We never would have found this place on our own. We landed there as a stop along a mystery picnic through Amazing Co. on 6/25/22. This shop provided the best service and best food along the whole route. The woman who helped us (wearing a white lab coat with brown hair in a pony tail) was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She immediately rectified an error in communication about gluten free crackers. I want to go back to ask the name of the cheddar she endorsed because it was phenomenal!
google avatar

Eammon B.

Yelp
This was a very cool little shop that happened to be just up the street from our hotel. We stopped by to grab some beers and they certainly delivered. There's a fun selection of East coast beers from MA, ME, VT, NY, and more. This place won't blow your mind, but it sure worked nicely for providing us with some delicious libations to sip on when chilling at the hotel!

Yelp
Affordable wine for the Back Bay... which we locals know is hard to find! WINE: A wide range of offerings at reasonable prices. FOOD: The closest thing to a deli in this Boston neighborhood. STAFF: The owners are very friendly and patient. Go in and ask questions to learn about win. THE DEAL: sign up for one of their $20 wine & cheese tasting to try a variety of brands!
google avatar

Eric F.

Yelp
The folks here provided the cheeses for my recent party and everyone loved them! The lady was very friendly and did a great job of providing recommendations and tastes as my friend and I were deciding on which ones would pair best with our wines. We eventually decided on some Tomme Noire des Pyrenees, La Tur, Manchego and 3-year Aged Gouda, all of which were very reasonably priced especially with the Living Social deal ;) I can also vouch for the bread that they bring in from Iggy's - the exact name of the one I got escapes me, but it comes in full loaves for only $3 and has a lovely spongy texture. And if you're ever in need of a quick lunch to-go, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have prepared lunch boxes from Pigalle.

Bridget L.

Yelp
Review for wine offering: Smallish but very well curated wine selection. The nearly daily tastings are enjoyable. The sales folks are knowledgeable and pushy but not too pushy. I've had some fantastic bottles because of their recommendations. I've also felt okay leaving without a bottle of nothing caught my eye.

Owen E.

Yelp
Best lunch spot in back bay. I go about once a week and have never had a bad experience. Their caprese sandwich is the bomb. Great drink selection too.
google avatar

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Great local spot for a quick lunch! The weekly specials are always fresh though they are the same every week. The deli has a list of preconceived sandwiches but feel free to create your own! Today I went with the roast beef with cheddar cheese and caramelized onions and bbq sauce on the onion focaccia bread( toasted) - you have a choice between bbq sauce or horseradish with this sandwich! I also opted to add a pickle because they are so good!
google avatar

Rebecca W.

Yelp
I want to thank Bacco's for their amazing customer service. I called this week with a very last minute order for someone's birthday. They were able to get him his present the same day, actually I believe they got it to him within a couple hours. Bacco's really came through and helped make someone's birthday special. I also want to give a shout out to the man I spoke to on the phone. I unfortunately didn't get his name, but he was so nice and accommodating.

Yelp
Great selection on beer and cheeses. I'm not much of a wine person, but they had a great amount of that too. =P The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful! I enjoyed their cheese, as well as the pre-made sandwiches. Yumm!
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
I placed a last minute order for a wine and cheese basket and I could not have been happier with the results I highly recommend this place. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and completely professional.

Yelp
This place is great! I had decided to host a wine/cheese party awhile back before realizing I had no clue what I was doing. I came to Bacco's on the day of my party in a bit of a panic, but the lovely staff put me right at ease and was incredibly helpful. They suggested an excellent array of cheeses and charcuterie based on the number of people I was hosting and allowed me to sample everything. The owner was extremely gracious and helped me select the appropriate amount and variety of wines and was happy to find nice wines that fit into my price range. Don't be intimidated by this place. Some of the wines are pricey, but I was able to get a ton of excellent bottles that were $20 or less apiece. I also appreciated the fact that when I explained my predicament of hosting the party and matching wines to cheeses, he got a box and told me exactly what I should get, then loaded the box for me. I hate it when employees are wishy-washy and tell you that any wine could work, etc... The party was a huge hit and my friends are still raving about the quality and variety of wines and cheeses I offered. Thanks, Bacco!

Yelp
This was a disappointment today. I got out of work early and saw that they had a wine tasting from 2-7. I've always wanted to try it but I usually am not out of work in time. I walked in, and there was a couple ahead of me ordering cheese from the man behind the counter. Another lady had walked in ahead of me, and was looking around, not sure what she had come in for. I looked around for anything resembling a tasting, such as a table with cheeses, etc. In the wine section, there were 2 men talking to each other, clearly they were staff. What bothered me is that No One acknowledged either the lady ahead of me, or me. I'm pretty sure all of the employees were aware 2 customers had entered the store but not one person smiled, said hello, or asked if they could help us. I then walked out. This to me, is a hallmark of poor customer service. The 2 men in the wine section could have said hello or asked if they could help us. Since there were no obvious signs for the tasting inside, it would have been nice if someone had offered assistance. I had actually wanted to purchase a nice Rose, and this would have been a great opportunity for me. I know that they have a wonderful selection, I pass by there often. I left and bought elsewhere.

Yelp
If you are a wine and cheese lover, this is the spot for you. Tons of different cheeses and wines. You are free to sample as many cheeses as you need before deciding which one to purchase. The people working the cheese station are really nice, friendly and knowledgeable about the product. There are also daily wine tastings which is amazing. Lady working the wine seemed a little grumpy though. If you are not into cheese or wine - like me - they also sell some good beers!

Eleanor H.

Yelp
Set up a recurring wine and cheese of the month delivery for my son and his fiancée and they absolutely love it! Hugh and the team at Bacco's do an absolutely awesome job... Both in picking items to include in the monthly boxes, and communicating as to deliveries etc. highly highly recommend!

Sue S.

Yelp
I have been to many cheese shops in my life. My favorite is Wassicks in Wellsley. If you choose to go to Bacco's, just go to Whole Foods- Whole Foods has a better selection and customer service. The girl working Friday is was absolutely clueless. I wanted Brie - I said it normally costs about 18 dollars for just shy of a Pound of Brie. I told her I had 25/30 people. She handed me a 5 dollar triangle that she squished. I opened it up and set it back down and told her it was unacceptable to give this to a customer. There was more Brie on the paper than possible to eat. I asked for recommendations for medium to hard cheese and she gives me 3 cheddar options. Lady if I wanted cheddar the grocery store has that. I asked about Gouda. She said oh we have that and starts reading labels to figure out which one it was. She doesn't know what she is doing and made the experience that I wouldn't go back. There were 3 other employees there and only 1 other person in the store - anyone of them could have helped her. Poor teamwork, poor customer service. This is fine cheese- treat it as such.

Yelp
I feel a new obsession coming on. A little oasis of cheese and wine right in the Park Square building? I'm so there. I popped in after work looking for some interesting and different cheeses to bring to a cheese-lovin' friend who was hosting a housewarming party. My friend has tried just about every cheese there is so I was excited when the woman at Bacco was confident she could hook me up with something special. Talk about unpretentious: When I asked her what her favorite cheese is she got a huge smile on her face and, without skipping a beat, said "Cheddar!!" She was also very respectful of price and made suggestions to help keep the cost down. I felt like I was getting a little background on each type of cheese (just enough for some conversation starters at the party) and we talked about what would be the best fit for the evening. I ended up with two small wedges. One was a pecorino with truffle and the other was a cheese with ginger and mango mixed in. I got to sample them both, and other cheeses that were passed around the store when I was there. I love that she helped me find one cheese that was rich and savory and another that was light and sweet. Since I was on a cheese mission, I didn't pay much attention to the wine (and that's saying a lot). But my trip was such a success, not to mention an overall pleasant experience, that--like any new obsession--I know I'll be coming back for more.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
As much as I like to support small, independent businesses, Bacco Wine and Cheese erroneously charged me multiple times for a single purchase. When I asked them to correct this they told me that even though they had an "ongoing issue" charging customers multiple times I could sort it out with my credit card company. This was not a suspiciously large transaction -- it was less than $10. Not respectful of my time since now I have to dispute this my credit card company.

Yelp
Bacco's brings me happiness. It is my go-to for everything delicious: wine, chocolate, cheese, pasta, beer, meats.... this is how I picture heaven. I am consistently greeted with smiles and genuine kindess by the staff during my shopping experience- not surprising considering the tastes and smells they are surrounded with all day. It's a good idea to shop hungry at Bacco's- you are pretty much guaranteed a sample of wine, beer, and any glorious cheese they have in stock. You THINK you are just stopping in for a bottle of wine, but you come out with so much more- and whoever is at your end destination will be the luckiest person in Boston. And to hint to any of my friends/relatives who may be reading this review, they have amazing gift baskets filled with different varieties of their high-quality products. It's like happiness in a basket, and probably the best gifts I gave this holiday season. Most of the baskets have everything you need for a delicious dinner + dessert + leftovers! Go with an open mind and an empty stomach- and I promise you'll be satisfied with your experience while there AND after (or at least until you've consumed all of your purchases).

Matt C.

Yelp
Close to work, knowledgeable staff, great wine, superb beer selection, it doesn't get much better than this. The staff here will take any piece of information and turn it into a great recommendation for a product you would have never considered. My piece of advice is simple, don't trust your gut, just trust the staff at Bacco's and you will never be disappointed.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Great service, great selection! They helped me curate a put together a gift basket for my friends bday!

Erika S.

Yelp
Went in today looking for a specific prosecco (i'm very new to the wine scene so i asked for what i knew) and was met with a very swift, "nope." Was not friendly and did not appear to genuinely want to help. Very odd and poor service. I ended up around the corner at another store. While that store didn't have what I was looking for, they took the initiative and made conversation and found me something to leave with. I would NOT recommend this store.
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
LOVE this place! The Bacco staff is so friendly and knowledgable. The store is small but there are lots of delicious, unique, carefully selected local products available. They offer a wide range of wine choices and also have a great beer collection. To my delight they offer lots of tastings of wine, cheese and other products. Such a great place to stop in for lunch, to pick up something special, or just to have a quick snack and look around while waiting for the bus!
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
This shop has an amazing selection of wines. The knowledgeable and courteous staff suggested several inreresting wines from various regions and within my price point. I was the surprised to find a Pegau cuvee blanc from Chateauneuf du Pape, a rarity. They had a wide range of choices from high-end to affordable, all offerings vetted by the staff. The cheese shop was terrific too. I spotted some favorites from Cowgirl Creamery, as well as some new cheeses from smaller producers for the adventurous. A tip for those visiting, there's a wine tasting every day between 5-7pm, and if you purchase at least four bottles there's a 10% discount.

Yelp
Staying the night in Boston. Found this business through yelp. Both staff members were incredibly helpful with my wine & cheese purchase and also with recommendations on what to do during our stay. The business itself was amazing with a little bit for everyone!

Yelp
This may be a dangerous pit stop for me as I walk home each day. I came in finally, wanting to try some cheeses and in search of some GOOD chutney. The variety of cheese is quite large. If you don't know what you are looking for someone will be able to help you decide. Do you like creamy? Salty? Hard? Soft? Yellow? White? Goat Sheep Cow Ewe!? I tried some pretty awesome cheeses which did come with a price tag at $49.99/lb but it was worth just buy a small hunk. They do have other more affordable cheeses too so don't be put off by the prices. They also carried one chutney, a lovely eggplant mango which I have to say was reeaaaallly quite delicious. They are very knowledgeable, and very willing to help so don't be shy!

Yelp
Great specialty cheese and wine shop located in the Park Square building. The shop is wonderfully laid out, spacious, and inviting. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They offered us some great samples and gave us background info on the process, location, and flavor profile of the cheeses...a little cheese education while we nibbled. The "worlds best cheddar" was amazing-- I'm going to enjoy ever bite of that little block! The aged Gouda was lovely and the Serrano Ham was delicious. The prices are a bit high but the quality, variety, uniqueness, combined with the staff's knowledge & helpfulness, make the prices very reasonable. We had a very nice experience and will return soon!

Rachel C.

Yelp
Don't give people their wine in brown paper bags when it's pouring out because the bag will give out and all their money will be spilled on St. James Street in a busy intersection. Also, they only had 1 pinot noir under $20. Good cheese though, and their white wine selection was a lot better than their red in terms of affordable.
google avatar

Yelp
I have recently discovered this little gem on St James Ave. They have great cheeses and wines, and more! They have a small selection of wines and beers, but what they have is amazing. They offer samplings/tastings almost every night so you can try before you buy! The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, ready to assist you at the drop of a hat. This is the perfect place for grabbing a quick fix on your way home from the office, or for planning your perfect cheese and wine party--all your needs are met in this one stop shop. The new Bacco's Fine Foods next door, is like having a little gourmet grocer as well...everything you need, right downtown! I strongly suggest that you stop by here some night on your way home from work--have a sip, sample some cheese, learn about your wine selections...and go home and impress your guests with your new findings and your on your way to becoming a wine aficionado!

Yelp
There is nothing inviting about this store as the sign says. I was in this shop 3 times last week and thisnisbthebsynopsis of what happened: Day 1 1 - I arrived with only one other person inthe store. No one looked up today hello how can I help? 2. The employee was at the wine tasting. You would think thatbhere is an opportunity to greet and offer some wines ../ nope 3. I purchased 3 bottles of wine. The same employee tookenjis wine ribrhebcoubter.. no acknowledgement is any kind. Did not look up but spoke with his colleague. 4. 77$ later feeling deflated in the usual Boston service standards Day 2 Thought This must be a one off ./ nope! Again same person more interested in stocking the inventory to bother acknowledging patrons. No smile no proper friendly intervention. My husband also frequents this shop bit we are pretty much done with the attitude of the staff in this shop. If you are attempting a Aeueioeja look tobrjisnshop; the service needs to follow the same path. I will certainly my continue to discourage people from this shop . These employees should be better trained to deal with patrons..

Yelp
I am super sorry to be writing this review right now because previously I have had terrific experiences with Baccos. However, previously I was always a happy customer buying a case of wine at a time, so I suppose there was no reason to be unhelpful to me then. The staff was always very helpful in the past and Bob himself never snooty. I was VERY surprised, then, on my most recent experience when Bob himself flatly refused to replace a bottle of wine for me because I did not have the bottle anymore. I had taken the bottle with me on vacation, and upon finding the cork to be moldy, was afraid to drink it. I took pictures and kept the cork to bring back to him as proof. I did not bring back the bottle as I didn't want the extra weight in my bag. When I called to explain the situation, he was very unwilling to help without the bottle since he would not be able to get credit for the bottle himself. He was even a bit rude in answering my request. As it was a $15 bottle of wine, I am even more surprised at his reluctance. It seems to me it would have been a small price for him to pay to keep a frequent customer. I have bought a single case of wine from his store each month for quite some time now. I always enjoyed the experience as I had felt like they treated me with respect and as a person, not just a dollar sign. Now I see, my business is not even worth a $15 bottle replacement. I have never had such an experience with other places. Any other time this has happened to me businesses have been happy to replace the bottle, no questions asked. It's really a shame. But, on the other hand, now I have an excuse to go shopping for a new wine store, which is always a fun experience.

Thank you!!! Bacco's pulled through and helped facilitate a same-day charcuterie board and wine delivery for my BFF with me calling from California. Pics of it looked amazing! Knocked off one star because they were running about ten minutes behind and had to meet my friend's husband at the train station to drop off the delivery, giving him one minute to board before his train left. Regardless, they were pleasant to work with and I definitely recommend them! :)
