"We could write a whole guide about food in Honolulu’s dive bars: it’s that good. And Omakase by Bobae is one of the best examples of how high our standards are. You can find this sushi bar Monday through Wednesday at the liquor bar of Back Alley Cafe, where the one-woman show serves seasonal nigiri topped with luxe ingredients like fatty nodoguro and Hokkaido scallops dotted with yuzu kosho. Bobae isn’t the only union of a dive and sushi bar you’ll find in Honolulu, but it does stand out for the delicateness of the raw fish and more casual setup than other sushi spots of the caliber. Check the Instagram for monthly specials and bento drops." - Martha Cheng

Easy parking in private lot or metered street parking on Sheridan. Back Alley Cafe and Omakase by Bobae are inside this one restaurant Sushi is Monday and Tuesday are the regular menu Wednesday are handroll menu only The bae roll was amazing along with the tuna poke Papaya salad + fried rice and NY steak are all amazing chef Phil keeps crushing it friendly staff and service with a smile and always love supporting small family local businesses. Clean small ambience since it shares with another amazing business.

My friend and I went there on a Monday night and most of the food menu was not available. We manage to order garlic fries (delicious), kimchi fried rice (good), and crispy pork belly (a little overcooked), beer, and soju ($20). We had fun but not worth the price!

We went for celebration of new year with a bunch of friends who love Sushi. The Sushi chef "Bobae" was a very talented young lady n over known her since she was working at Bozu Sushi Restaurant. As soon as I knew she got an independent I wanted to come n see her and so I convinced my friends too. The place itself are kind of old bar atmosphere but oh my gosh the foods are all so great we really enjoyed them all! We are already planning on coming back to her again!

Out of almost everything on the menu! Saturday night and that have almost nothing available on the food menu. We arrived at 6:30 PM. Street parking still available on King St. We came for karaoke and food. They were out of karaage chicken, chicken wings, rib eye, pork chop, rib eye, and kim chee. We had to settle for garlic fried rice and kalua pork nachos. The fried rice is sticky, reminds me of school cafeteria. The nachos were made with that nacho cheese, stale chips, and minimal amount of kalua pork. Since they were out of every protein except mandoo, I asked if we could bring in outside food. Girl checked to see if that was ok and now they had rib eye. Overall, food was meh. Karaoke is $1 per song. Only the Korean machine was working in our room, so we couldn't get the artist's voice to play. Made for some off pitch singing at first. Also, bring cash because the bill is higher if you want to pay by credit card.

Previously just a bar and karaoke type establishment, Chef Jeff (from Tokkuri Tei, Sushi Maruyama, etc.) has been adding upper scale sashimi type dishes to the menu. Interesting juxtaposition getting these types of dishes right along side your dive bar beers and shots.

Chad… nothing more needs to be said. The service is amazing and the food is to die for. A hole in the wall that feels like a resort experience.

Google
Sketchy people that work here and the customers are also shady. That “sushi” place inside the bar is disgusting and the sister sarah is mentally ill, all she does is talk bad about people for no reason.

Yelp
We came here for Bobae's handroll night but also wanted to try some of the other food the bar menu offers. Parking lot is right next door or they have street parking. We sat down and were given a menu. Fiance ordered a beer (they don't have draft) and I got the papaya salad- lao style at medium spicy. Wow the papaya salad was great. Even though I got medium it was spicy but still tolerable. My water was refilled a lot that night hahaha. Will be coming back to try the nem Khao, wings, and crab fried rice.

Fati Y.

Yelp
Always a good time here where they have karaoke rooms as well as an open bar area. The food menu offers everything from pupu's to a full on meal. The ribeye is my favorite Great service and drinks await you at every visit!

Cheryl R.

Yelp
Cassii and Koa are the best! I will never forget you both! Koa was very friendly welcoming me in. Cassii made my drink perfect and REALLY took care of me. Both were amazing!

Yelp
Nice small lounge. Not too crowded, not too loud. Servie was great. Definitely gave good recommendations and was very friendly and patient. The food was so delicious. We are looking forward to going back for that Thai Loco Moco!! The wings were also fabulous! Crispy and lots of great flavor options! See yall soon! Definitely going back!

Yelp
Back Alley Cafe has a mix of Thai and local food. The chef, Philip, uses fresh noodles only on Tuesdays for some reason, so my friend Alice told me I should go try the food on a Tuesday. She even went so far as to call me in early December to say she was pre-ordering dishes for pickup, and would call in a separate order for me to pick up. Then late Tuesday my Chinese handyman friend called to ask me for a ride to Kaneohe. He was renovating an apartment and had forgotten his wallet in the apartment so didn't want to drive back out there without his license. I somewhat reluctantly agreed to take him on that 30-mile round trip to retrieve his wallet. The last time I made that round trip was decades earlier to retrieve a young woman who was staying with friends a block away from the apartment being renovated. I had to pick her up and drove back into town, and then drop her off later. The things I used to do to get laid! Sorry, children. Anyway, this time I was also suitably rewarded in a different way. It seemed that the owners of the apartment wanted to change out all the appliances for new stainless steel ones, so there was a newer refrigerator that the handyman needed to dump. Now that very same Tuesday morning I had been looking for a replacement refrigerator for my home. It's difficult to find appliances for older homes because most of the refrigerators being sold now exceed the 30.5-inch width of the existing space of my 87-year old home. This refrigerator which was going to be discarded was in excellent condition and fit the existing space. Not only did I score a refrigerator without having to go through the laborious buying process, but my handyman friend delivered the refrigerator to my home and hauled away the old one for free. A great deal for giving a friend a ride to get his forgotten wallet!! While the replacement refrigerator fit into the space of the old refrigerator, I discovered that the replacement was much smaller on the inside than the discarded refrigerator, although the exterior dimensions were pretty much identical. It's like Dr. Who's TARDIS in reverse!! But I digress. After retrieving my friend's wallet, we went to pick up my pad see ew and pad grapow at Back Alley Cafe. We ran into Alice's minion who was there to pick up, pay, and drop off the food to her apartment. I don't know how women get guys to do these things. The menu has a lot of local dishes and Thai specialties. There is also a sushi menu but I think the woman who runs the sushi bar wasn't around that night. I asked Philip how he learned to cook Thai food and he replied that he is Thai and grew up with the food of his ethnicity. We decided to dine in, and it was a little underwhelming. While the food was good, the ambiance was divey, we were served on paper plates, and our individual dishes were those rectangular okazuya-type little serving receptacles. I prefer the food, ambiance, and civility of Thai restaurants, but if you're out with the boys and want decent food and liquor, this place will do.

Yelp
This jem was a surprise! This is an industry spot so you know food is going to be good. Small space with cute ambiance. We ordered the garlic chicken wings and chicken kimchee fried rice. The chicken was wonderfully crispy and loaded with freshly chopped garlic. When they say garlicky, they mean it! The fried rice was also very tasty and came in a large bowl topped with an egg. Highly recommend, bring your friends!

Yelp
Went to Back Alley as one of the places to check off our friend's list. The menu was Korean influenced and we were disappointed to learn that the chef relocated to a sister restaurant. Be aware because all the photos of the food on Yelp is based off the old Thai menu. The current menu is pared down to the regular local Korean favorites like Kalbi, pancakes, Kim Chee fried rice and chicken karaage. The ambience was small bar-type seating (booths/tables) but the overall place was clean. The bartender Chad was very engaging and actually took over the table service from our waitress (who didn't seem to know much as it seemed she was new to the job).

Yelp
Small Local Bar. Street Parking. Full bar selections. Bar Food, Sushi, Cajun Seafood, Thai Food. Opens til 2:00 AM.

Yelp
Dropped by on a Sunday night and happened to check out Back Alley Cafe. At first it was to have a couple of beers before heading to the next stop, but it ended up being a good time sharing stories and laughing with the bartender and waitress until midnight. Chad definitely knows how to treat his customers right, and Denise being there made the experience more enjoyable. I didn't have a chance to taste the food or their sushi, but its something to look forward to on the next drop in. The grindz thats posted on Yelp looks Ono! If your ever find yourself here, look out for the Chad special!

Jaxjar ..

Yelp
The beer here is never really cold. Food is so-so... Not sure if it gets any busier, but we were the only ones there for a bit.

Mason N.

Yelp
This place took 2 hours for dinner for party of 9 because theres only one sushi chef. If you do come, make sure your whole party didnt order sushi. We took turns watching each person eat, and having teens in the group, get hangry, was not fun. The other reason for the low score, they had a coin operated machine. It didnt have a sign that tells you if its broken. Me being the dummy, put on 5 dollars and it ate my money. My sister then said why did you out money in, im like...i wanted to try the game. She said "the chef was yelling that dont play the machine , its going to eat your money." Im like, i wish i had heard or someone had been louder. Either way, sucks to be us. Wont come back.

Michelle O.

Yelp
Came here with my other half on a Friday night. Line out the door but luckily we made reservations in advance and had a kareoke room. Kareoke room is free for up to 2 hours if you spend up $100 on food and beverage, but kareoke songs are still $2 per song so don't forget to bring cash. Remote control was a bit confusing at first and no song book, but you get the hang of it after. The food though... that's why I'm writing this review. I've never been to a bar with such amazing food! Sushi was great, crab fried rice was wonderful and even the pork chop was insanely good!!! Would come back again for sure.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Cute little bar. The staff was very friendly and able to manage drunk patron with ease. He seemed harmless but they kept an eye on him. Quit to refill water & check if I needed anything. I only stopped in for a drink so not sure about food quality but the service was good so I'd definitely return.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Thum khao kapoon isn't on the menu, but chef phil is AMAAAAAZING!!! There isn't too much Lao restaurants on Oahu, but this place is it! Everything is delicious! The flavors, the spice level, the freshness is perfect! I can't explain enough how good the food is here! Customer service is on point! Like I said, chef phil is amazing.. amazing in his skill and treats you like family.

Emily B.

Yelp
Good food, easy going stop in. Philip is bomb, takes care, and cooks good. Relaxed, good music. Will come back again. Tyyy

Lauryn M.

Yelp
apparently their old chef left so it's korean spot now service was good but it just wasnt what we were expecting

Yelp
Such a cute spot!! Came here with my boyfriend a few days ago for a pre-movie snack. We have driven pass this place so many times and finally decided to stop in and glad we did! We were too early for the chefs food but sushi was open and we just wanted smaller plates anyway. We ordered our usual drinks, and the BAE roll which was lovely and also the sashimi plater which was just as cute as it said on them menu lol. Very tasty! We were here right when they opened and Chad was our person. He was absolutely wonderful. Between the hospitality shown from Chad and and the sushi, we can't wait to come back again and try more food and maybe rent out the karaoke room one night!

Corina Q.

Yelp
I came here for happy hour, which is offered from 5:30 - 7:45pm, and again from 10:30pm - 1:30am. We got the mentaiko pasta ($9 HH, $12 regular price), and I found it strange that it took over 20 minutes to come out considering there was only one other table occupied. The pasta was cooked a little longer than I would have liked, but the mentaiko taste (although slightly faint) was good. Our server also wasn't very attentive while she was eating her meal at a different table. However, I did appreciate that they don't charge tax on cash transactions and the abundance of street parking near the area.

Yelp
Came here after a hard days work with my co-workers and bosses. Such a chill and relaxing place that opens after 5pm. The food was soo delicious and the portions are large, enough to feed 3 people per plate so we ended up sharing. The food I got was the crab fried rice and garlic fries which were both amazing. There's also a karaoke room but we never went in. The staff was friendly and were very knowledgeable about the menu. Just beware though that parking is tight and you may want to get there before they open. There is a bar but I don't drink so I did try any of their alcoholic beverages but my colleagues enjoyed them. We stayed for about 4 hours just enjoying each others company. I would definitely go here again!

Roanne T.

Yelp
It's a bar that's open late. Was walking distance from our hotel near Ala Moana. Wasn't busy. Wasn't the cleanest. Food took a while to come out. Kinda weird/sketchy that there was a guy who came in and was selling alcohol to them from his backpack. He also asked us outside if we wanted to buy whatever bottle it was that he didn't sell when we left the bar.

Bobby J.

Yelp
Warm and Friendly service, a skilled Sushi Chef named Bobae, awesome Asian Fusion Cuisine with local, Korean, Thai/Lao by Chef Phil. Sushi on M-T-W only.

Mae D.

Yelp
5 stars for great food and great service! My family and I comes here every once in awhile and we leave satisfied all the time. The crab fried rice and pork chop with mushrooms/onions hits the spot every time. Those are the two dishes I recommend to people. The workers here are awesome and even on busy nights they leave their customers happy.

Yelp
Red Dragon Roll Salmon Skin Salad Agedashi Tofu Back Alley Roll We got all of the above at Happy Hour prices after 10:30pm - yay! Thanks to Sari for the great service and helpful tips! She recommended that we get the $15 bottle of soju instead of the $20 mixture of soju with ice cream and yogurt. Good call! The Peach flavored soju was just right! I had been here before, but I was focused on karaoke ($1 per song in a free private room) and didn't get to eat that much (hard to do both at the same time). My friends were ordering food that looked really good, but no one was singing, so... I felt like I had to... haha! Sorry... LOL! This time, Lisa M. was so kind to help me celebrate my Night Off from work! She had the night off, too! We were SO HAPPY!!! Then Randy S. joined us and we laughed even harder and ate MORE yummy food!! Randy said that "Back Alley Roll" is kind of what they have the most of - like Special of the Day or "Whatever the Chef Feels Like Making". Our male server clarified this when I asked, "what is Back Alley Roll"? And I gave an example, "Like salmon?" And he said he could ask... ...and then it appeared... fresh and deliciously savory with a slight crunch from the slivered cucumbers! MMM! I ordered the Agedashi Tofu because I remember that Angel H. had that the last time we were here - and it looked ono - and she said it was... and we all agreed! Lightly battered to get the flavor to adhere onto the soft tofu... with various toppings which included a tiny spicy kick! I'd get it again - as well as the Red Dragon Roll and the Salmon Skin Salad. Yeah! I wanted the Uni... and I repeated it several times... However, wishing hard and saying things aloud doesn't make magic happen all of the time. When they run out, they run out. Like "If can, can. If no can, no can..." Shucks! This just means that we must return... The free street parking in metered stalls after 6pm is very convenient. Restroom was clean and functional. Environment was pleasant and spacious. The late Happy Hour was good timing for us because some people were leaving so the place wasn't crowded! If you come for the "Early" Happy Hour, go as soon as you can because every seat will be taken later! Note: Daily Happy Hour from 5:30 pm to 7:45 pm, and Late Happy Hour = Sunday-Thursday from 10:30 pm to 1:30 am.

Jace T.

Yelp
If you're looking for someplace to kick it, eat, drink and maybe sing karaoke... then this is a spot you should consider... located on Sheridan St closer to King than Kapiolani and just mauka of Meadow Gold... with very little parking but quite a bit of street parking... but check out the signs because there are restrictions... inside is a lil' tiny with a bar and about half dozen bar seats and another half dozen tables, but if you get a karaoke room I can't help you cuz I've never seen them here... but the food is what I come for and friends come for the booze... The goods... 1) Spicy Chicken Wings... Spicy wasn't too bad for me and I don't usually do spicy but these have spicy and honey on them to give them a unique kick... done well and if you've had Vonn's chicken kinda taste like those... 2) Gyoza... nicely sized pieces with a pre-made dipping sauce... Imma give these a standard thumbs up... they were good but not special but still good! 3) Chef's Roll... someone ordered this and this was ono! Imma big fan of white onions and sashimi... if you like that combo get this one! 4) Chicken Wings... just fried chicken with ranch dipping sauce... was good without the ranch but together worked! 5) Chicken Karaage... seemed anorexic compared to the Chicken Wings we ordered but tasted surprising gud... of you don't wanna fuss with bones get this! 6) Ikura Uzura... was on the specials board... for the Ikura fans! 7) Pork Chops... pre cut and topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions... was a nice size chops and tasty! 8) Kim Chee Pancake... a Korean dish that came with the same sauce as the gyoza... was good but took forever to come out cuz my friend ordered this before I got there and came about second to last of all the things we ordered! 9) White Chicken... this was interesting... looked like baked chicken chopped up with a dish of cubed veggies or fruits and a separate dish with salt and pepper... I'm assuming to sprinkle as you pick you pieces... I don't remember eating this but was on our table and we also had a basket of fries soo I was kinda full when this Plate came out... ;) Service... good friendly service and they constantly check if we needed anything and refilled water routinely... I knocked down a star for the late Pancake and they're lack of control of LOUD patrons in the joint... dis one guy was yelling and pounding on the table next to us but no one asked him to keep it down... think he needed to be cut off! Otherwise this place is a legit watering hole to grind at... until next visit... Grind On! Pau!

Erin R.

Yelp
Love this place the vibe is always right and the wait staff are very attentive...... BUT PHIL's cooking is really where's its at % just let the pictures speak for themselves.......

Yelp
2nd time here and had great times! great food and its a great relaxing environmen. everyone is pretty chill here especially the staffs. Chad is super awesome, so check them out on Mondays when he's off jk Chad is awesome, super friendly and very attentive to the customer. their food portion is definitely worth the prize. Highly recommend

Yelp
Not the Back Alley Cafe as I remembered it. Where's the sushi bar? If you're looking at all those delicious sushi photos... bad news, they don't serve them anymore. The photos below are what I ordered with not-so-cold Stella on draft. Better off ordering bottles. I could've walked a couple more yards and get a much cheaper poke at Kyung's. The poke didn't wow me, nothing special about the poke and for $18? They better let you keep the saucer it came in. I ordered the salt and pepper chicken wings... covered with garlic. I can only imagine what the garlic chicken wings would look like. I honestly came here craving for sushi, I'm disappointed I even ordered a plate or two of meh!

Melvin D.

Yelp
Both the crab-fried rice and garlic fries were outstanding dishes that I had when I was there. Karaoke is also available, although we didn't use it. This restaurant's staff was polite and well-versed on the menu items. Just be aware that parking is limited, so you may want to arrive early.

Tony T.

Yelp
excellent service and food! great local bar and diner! beautiful waitresses as well!

Yenny R.

Yelp
The food is amazing. Service is a little slow (prob understaffed). But the staff is really nice. Also if you order the crab fried rice, its nice to know it takes a really long time to cook! So if you are planning on ordering this, I recommend ordering it as soon as you are seated and look at the menu for other items later. Will def come back again.

Angel H.

Yelp
It was my first time at Back Alley Cafe with some Yelp friends and I liked it. Go early! When we got there at 6pm on a Friday night the place was empty. We left around 11pm and the place was packed. We were in a private room, way in the back, so we didn't see all these people come in. The karaoke machine takes cash. It's a dollar per song. They even have songs in Korean. One person in the room sang it and it was so nice. If it gets too hot in the room, you can ask one of the workers to adjust the A/C for you. I'm glad we went early to take advantage of their happy hour specials. Happy hour is daily from 5:30pm to 7:45pm, and Sunday-Thursday from 10:30pm to 1:30am. We ordered so much food. We had soy beans, french fries, fried mandoo, fried chicken wings, agedashi tofu, sushi, and fried calamari. Everything that I tasted was pretty good. My favorite was the agedashi tofu. It was lightly battered and fried. It had the perfect crisp to it. Then, it was put into this yummy broth. I had a blast with everyone there. I liked this place more than I thought that I would.

Luisa T.

Yelp
Ordered the sushi sampler and the fish was very fresh and very good. They were out of all the crab and shrimp which was a bummer. Great service. Definitely will go back!

Will X.

Yelp
Back Alley Cafe is a chill, low key Korean bar with everything you'd expect if you've been to some bar in a ktown. Shelves of just soju and other shelves for other alcohol. TVs with kpop music videos. Nice waitresses. And a decent happy hour menu. Since we went on a day that wasn't busy, it was easy to get quick service. We got a few drinks and the chicken kaarage, which was good. Chicken was moist though wish there were either more batter or some sauce to accompany it. Otherwise, a cool unsuspecting bar. Plenty of street parking around. Pretty high credit card minimum though. I think at least $20.

Krysten I.

Yelp
Back Alley Cafe is located in back of the keeamoku mcdonalds. It's kind of a tiny place on a corner and is therefore really easy to pass. If you're lucky, there is a very small parking lot, otherwise you're better off finding street parking. They have happy hour until 7:45, which seems very generous. There are both food and drink specials, too. Instead of $20 for flavored soju carafes, they're $15. I spent $90 on these babies alone, so even though it's happy hour, it gets to be a little pricey. About the soju drinks. The menu is a bit redundant and there are basically like 5 flavors listed (melona, strawberry melona, yogurt, etc). I think it was pretty obvious that the party I was with would be ordering a lot, but the waitress didn't bother to point out that they had several (like 10) other flavors listed on the wall outside the private karaoke room we reserved. I just happened to see the sign on my way back from the restroom.... I didn't really eat much of the food. The food I did have was decent, but it was mostly pupu things like fries, edamame, fried chicken. Their sushi looked interesting, but idk if I'd come here just for sushi. I guess it's a nice change from what's offered at other karaoke bars. My one solid gripe was that this bar runs on bar time. Whatever the hell that means. I know I'm not like a seasoned patron of bars, but I've never even heard of bar time. Apparently, because the workers want to close up early, "bar time" is set like 15 to 20 minutes ahead of real life time. So at 7:35, 10 minutes before happy hour should have ended, we were given a hard time about ordering more happy hour drinks. If the waitresses would have explained that or did a last call, all of this could have been avoided. Whatever. I don't think I'll be back.

Arlo G.

Yelp
This is my go-to the bar! Been here a lot and know enough about this place to give an honest review. So let's start with the basics, this place has not only street parking but also it's own parking lot. I have never had an issue finding parking when coming here. This place features a 8 table dinner area with full bar to include a sushi bar. Additionally they have 3 karaoke rooms available one that is huge and great for big parties. Staff is friendly attentive and super easy to talk too, Tia, Jon Jon and John are among my favorites here they always make sure that me and my friends have a good time. With a full menu, sushi bar, full bar, and karaoke rooms how could you not love this place but more than anything the place and atmosphere is nicer than any of the other karaoke bars that I have been too. Hands down the best place to go, try it out and trust you won't be disappointed!

Kacy O.

Yelp
Back Alley Cafe is probably one of my favorite karaoke bars on Oahu. There are 3 karaoke rooms available, one of which is larger and can fit around 10-15 people. The other 2 rooms are smaller and can fit around 5-7 people. You can call ahead to reserve if needed. I like that you don't need to rent the room, you pay per song ($1). I feel like places that make you rent the rooms are a waste if you don't sing the entire time and want to eat, drink, and talk story. The food here is pretty awesome. They have a full sushi bar as well. They serve a lot of Korean and Japanese fusion types of dishes. All are good! There's plenty of drink options with a full bar. They even do flavored sojus. There are plenty of tables in the main bar area if karaoke isn't your thing. Staff here are friendly as well. Try this place out for sure!

Lika T.

Yelp
I never knew there was a bar next to McDonalds! Came to check out this bar with my friend who likes to drink. So we came here to get a few drinks and chill. We wanted to sit at the bar so its chill and qa red to get a few drinks. Our bartender was name Kara, she said she's new and still working on her bartending skills. She was really cool to talk too and just talk stories with. We got a few beers and ordered the kimchee pancake and that stuff was hella good! It went perfect with the beers we drank. The atmosphere here is really quiet and chill. They play really good songs and the service here is fast! We also got a server, he helped with the waters and clean up as well! They really know how to do their jobs! The servers name was Elijah and James. Nice people and fun to talk too. This place doesn't get busy as much so it's really nice to go too. If you looking for a non busy bar that's not packed with people then this is your bar! They also have karaoke rooms if you wanna grab a room and sing! I really enjoy coming here with my friend so we both can talk enjoyable. I recommend coming here if you looking for a chill place to drink. They can make you any kind of drinks and they have SUSHI!!! LIKE WHO DOESNT LIKE SUSHI!!! I will definitely come back for sure!

Yelp
They just got revamped with the new kitchen chef!!! I've been Philip and Julie's fan from their awesome cooking at the Cafe Anasia. It was a sad day when I found out that they left Anasia last year. When I found out that they just started here last week, I had to get my hungry self here for the tasty treats!! The sizzling rib eye is always my favorite. Kim chee fried rice with beef was good with a bit of a kochujang kick. The garlic shrimp was tender and garlicky, mmmmm... I'm a fan of fusion pastas and the uni pasta was outstanding. The portions are good sized and it's served family style. I was so craving my other favorites such as the thai beef salad, thai clams and the pho but I can only eat so much at one time. Now that I know where they are set up, I can pace my cravings once again..

Yelp
I got invited out for some karaoke with friends and was super excited cause the last time I got to do a proper karaoke was in Korea so I was hoping to find a good spot. You reserve a room and you each song is $1, you feed cash into the karaoke machine kind of like a vending machine, be warned the language and writing is in Korean which was ok for me since I can read Korean but luckily for my friends they put little translation stickers on the remote so you can navigate the menu. Although song choices weren't bad they surprisingly didn't have a lot of artists which I was bummed about but we still had fun. Food was amazing! The Korean fried chicken was so crispy and the sauce wasn't too spicy, the Korean fried rice actually tasted like my moms dish and I was a huge fan of the spicy tuna sushi, we got melon soju but strawberry soju was my favorite, all the food and soju made me feel like I was back in Korea and I think for the price of songs and food and drinks this spot is worth coming to. They also have different rooms the rent, ours was just a regular room but the others have disco lights and louder music so you can choose.

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this place for the korean and japanese food..since those are literally both of my favorite cuisines and Back Alley Cafe didn't disappoint! They have great Korean and Japanese food. I came here for happy hour and it was for my birthday dinner with my friends, and we ordered way too much. My favorites were the spicy rice cake, korean fried chicken and the back alley roll. The back alley roll usually differs from what the kitchen has, so it's different every time! Something I could do without is the mentaiko pasta, it didn't really have much flavor. I believe they allow smoking in the bar...I'm not sure but I saw someone smoking and I wasn't pleased by the smell in the bar.

Yelp
The place is decent.. we got the big room but when we wanted to sing international songs.. the system was loading for over an hour. We asked to reboot the system because we want to sing from both systems.. one of the reasons why chose to go there. The machine ate our money when rebooted but we were able to sing. Good song selections. We ordered food but they were out of what we wanted so went with the sushi, oysters and chicken. The sushi was yummy and the oysters were amazing... but we had to go out many times to get plates, more drinks and to order food instead of the waitresses coming to us. I would of drank more but they rarely came in to check on us and I found it bothersome to go to the bar. When they did come in, we ordered another lemon soju... they ran out of one ingredient. Overall, we had fun but there were many inconveniences.

Yelp
Super random sushi spot with delicious food. This small hole in the wall bar has a 3 seated sushi bar. The chef and staff is very attentive and friendly. The fish was fresh and the chef was fast and creative. They were out of a couple of items like the cucumbers and live oysters but we found other things to make up for it. They also do omakase (chefs choice) if you're feeling adventurous. The bar itself was a little run down and the parking only could fit about 8 cars. Their hours are very convenient as they are opened till 2am. They do have street parking available as well. I would recommend making reservations if you want to eat at the sushi bar since they only have a few seats available.

Yelp
Michelle makes the best drinks, I've only been here a couple of times. They have a private kareoke room and a cigarette vending machine!! Cool! Anyways their agedashi tofu is definitely one of my favs. I need to come back and explore the menu a little more. They do have parking around back.

Yelp
This bar is about a 2 minute walk away from my house. Small, hole in the wall Korean style bar with a karaoke room in the back. It's barely ever super super busy when we stop by so maybe we're just lucky! The first time we went there was the best cuz Michelle was bar tending for us and she was awesome. She recommended us to try the house special which is some sort of Soju with a bar of Melona. To die for if you a fan of sweet girly drinks, I am not on the other hand but they did have my Guinness and Cabernet! But yeah this bar is perfect for a home bar or just a weekend bar. Swing on by maybe I'll see you there?

Yelp
Located off of Sheridan Street behind McDonalds and Wal Mart. This is a bar with private Karaoke rooms. You can make reservations ahead of time. There is no charge for the rooms and you pay $1 per song. The food is really good. My favorites are the Mentaiko Pasta and the Kim Chee Pancake. They have Stella on draft which is a plus. The staff is friendly. Parking is limited but you can find street parking. Great laid back spot to have fun with friends.

Yelp
Best place to eat and drink. Amazing workers, from the back of the house to the front of the house. Never disappointed when I come here.

Yelp
Karaoke and soju always calls for a good time! Celebrated my 24th birthday early this past weekend. I've been to Back Alley twice before this past weekend and it's always been great. The service is on point and the food is bomb! It's a great place to just hang out with friends casually or party it up in the karaoke rooms. It's Korean style, no room charge, just $1 songs. The system is similar to Tipsy Pig. They have multiple systems. I like the Korean system because it has more current songs in Korean and English and has a variety of other languages as well. Parking is limited, so I'd recommend parking at Walmart and walking over. Definitely looking forward to planning more parties in 2018 here! Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what I should try next!
