Back Dough

$6 for a dry, cold, and old donut. If you're open for only an hour at least give fresh donuts. We were also either given the wrong donut or they put bacon in a Sour Cream donut without displaying there was bacon in it. I would rather go to any other donut shop and get a chocolate or glaze donut for $1-$2 which would be a million times better than the donuts here.

Got the Cuban and the Hot Chicken. The chicken was greasssyyyy. No flavor just grease. And the Cuban has some flavor but again overpowered by the greasy bun. The wait and the cost was not worth the hype. Plus we really wanted a sweet donut!

Tonight was a blueberry stuffed donut and a chocolate glazed with raspberry sauce. Both were excellent! Looking forward to going again and trying more flavors. Such a cute, unique idea of a place!

These doughnuts will be legit. Mine did not disappoint. Don’t wait too late in the night to pick yours up. They are definitely worth it though. Never have my friends and I enjoyed doughnuts at night so this is different for sure. Different good however.

The concept of this donut shop is very unique. It’s inside a steakhouse but there’s a tiny a tall guy pops out of the window. It was really funny. They flavors of donuts changes every week. I got lucky when I went, the other two flavors were kind of out there. I got the honey butter chicken option. The butter was extremely week so I had to take some off of it. But it was still a good balance of salty and sweet. I’m not sure what they put on top of the donut and there was a tiny flower on it too lol my roommate got the Elvis and she liked it! She said it was a good balance between salty and sweet as well. I would recommend this wacky place!

6/20/25 - tutti fruity and lavender wedding. The tutti fruity was one of the worst things I’ve ever put in my mouth. I don’t know what I even ate. The lavender wedding was decent except that it was drenched in oil like the fryer wasn’t hot enough. I wouldn’t eat these if I was PAID $4-6 a donut, which is what these cost.

This is great hidden gem in the back of Queenies by Tim Love. They appear to have 4 flavors a night but it changes as he wants. Our favorites were the cheesecake and the pulled pork donut.

My friend and I came a few minutes before they opened and there already was quite a line for a Friday night during Halloween season! We waited around 20 minutes or so, and when I got home I threw the donuts in the air fryer a bit since they do not serve warm at all. Once warmed, they are so delicious! The flavors change by the weekend but they only offer 2 flavors and I was hearing in the line it's 1 of each per group ordering.

Back Dough is something that probably wouldn't work in a lot of places, but in a college town like Denton, it's pretty perfect. For a select number of hours on Friday and Saturday, you can buy some truly amazing specialty donuts. A peculiar arrangement perhaps, but the results are wonderful. We got the Salted Caramel donut, the Strawberry Cheesecake donut, a Burger donut, and a Nutella donut. I have to say that they were all amazing. I want to crawl into a bathtub full of those Nutella donuts and eat my way out of them. If you're lucky enough to be out when these amazing confections go on sale, be sure to stop by and pick up a few. You won't regret it!

Y'all! A literal hole in the wall spot. If you don't know about this place, it's because it's a hidden gem. Located in the back kitchen of a restaurant, this concept is so smart! Got here around 11 and there was already a line formed. On this week's menu I got to try the Pinka Colada which was a pina colada flavored donut. It was delicious! The donut was so light and fluffy and the filling and flavors were so subtly sweet. Literally sooo good!

I have heard so many great things about these donuts. My sister grabbed me one a few weeks ago and it was delish. The menu changes daily so we wanted to see what they had to offer tonight. The theme for the night was Power Rangers. Each ranger represented a different flavor. We both decided to go with the pink ranger which was strawberry whip w/ strawberries purée. The first taste of the strawberry purée was the WORST!! My taste buds were extremely offended. I tried not to let it ruin my experience and tried to just ear the donut itself. This was no better. The donut itself it not your typical donut. It is more of a light bread consistency. It was not sweet at all. It tasted more like a dinner roll deep fried in old chicken grease. My tongue had a Vaseline- like film after taking a bite. I am disappointed and at $4 a pop and all the hype, I was expecting greatness. I believe the hype is more about the "back dough" after hour experience and not the actual food itself. Try at your own risk!!

I love back dough... sometimes it's hit or miss on the donut toppings, but always order the grand slam (all four)! I went there for my birthday this year and the waiter tried to light a little candle in my donut to make it special. These people are awesome. The wait is worth it! My al-time favorite is the brisket donut... amazing. Nice work, y'all!

Back Dough falls in line with basically every Tim Love experience I've had. Some things are good, and some things just aren't. Getting donuts here is a Russian roulette for me, because most times they're just not that good for the price. Donuts are always good, don't get me wrong. But if Hypnotic Donuts was open this late, I'd be more inclined to put down $4 for a donut there. The dough here is pretty dense, but not cake donut dense. These donuts are also pretty difficult to eat with just your hands on a street corner, so buckle up. I've had a few donuts that I've adored, specifically the filet mignon beef stew and the creamsicle. But otherwise, just like most of the food I've experienced from Tim Love, there's just something missing. A minor frustration worth noting, nearly every chocolate donut variety I've had from here has basically just been a donut with chocolate pudding. I love chocolate pudding, but the fancy titles build up different expectations. Despite my meh feeling towards Back Dough, I still find myself throwing money at them quite frequently. That might have more to do with the late night boozy hungers though.

Top notch quality! Huge, fresh donuts offered on a rotation of creativity every weekend, so it's different and unique each time. Get there "early" because there will most definitely be a line waiting at the back door of Queenie's for these delicious donut creations! Sweet and savory alike! $4 each and cash only. Look for the red neon sign in the window!

You'll get charged $4 for each donut and if your donut is supposed to be filled with chocolate, they'll either barely add anything or completely forget to add the filling.

Literally got there before the line started. It was so crazy, but these donuts are something to be crazy about. They come to you hot and fresh. Such a great late night sweet treat. $4 a donut is totally worth it. I got the raspberry cheesecake one and it was so good! If you are in Denton and have time. Stop by!

These fresh doughnuts are worth the small wait in line. I had a fruity mango type of donut, because they had a ground pork donut that day, but i'm looking forward to trying out a savory one next time.

Late night super duper secret doughnut shop behind queenies. They use homemade ingredients and change the menu weekly so doughnut expect to see the same menu. The staff is friendly and the menu is unique and the doughnuts are super tasty. However the reason for the four star review is bc they are too doughy and at four bucks a pop I didn't think they were worth it. The doughnuts are good but not four dollars good. Also if you are using a debit card you gotta order two donuts. They close at one am so leave the bar early if you want to try this late night fried dough

Sooooo..... the concept of this place is great. A little door opens up down a back street and we all know BACKDOOR GUESTS ARE ALWAYS BEST! You feel like your getting something special. Now these were good but not great. The concept is what is fun but the product is ok. we got the coconut cream pie donut, an apple pie one, and something else. We definitely ate them but they were cold. In this kind of atmosphere your expecting a hot donut. It was not that.

This place was sweet. It's only open 11-1 on weekends. I wouldn't call them doughnuts really. They're like huge things of sweet dough, stuffed with something. Had a lemon one and a blueberry and they were both delicious. I didn't try a savory, thinking that a savory doughnut didn't sound awesome, but now knowing it's not really a doughnut I think it would work awesome with savory, and want to go back and try one. Definitely check it out if your out. Also they take credit card now - if you buy at least two.

We tried the salted caramel and shredded beef donuts. Both were quite large and priced at $4 each. The salted caramel one was my favorite, it was filled with creamy caramel filling and topped with fresh whipped cream and salt flakes. The beef one was good but the caramel was top tier!

My wife and I normally are home in bed by 11:00pm but we have been hearing about the gourmet donuts served at the rear of Queenie's Steakhouse on Friday and Saturday nights. We arrived 10 minutes before 11 and there was already a line. Everyone was having fun waiting for the donuts. The menu had four choices: two sweet and two savory. My better half chose the Chocolate Turtle donut; I chose the Sweet Potato Pie donut. Both were out of this world. We will definitely return the next time we are up late on a Friday (or Saturday) night.

It was a neat experience and the donuts were good! Get there fast enough though or they will run out of flavors

This place is so amazing . First time going and I had a great experience. I was told there menus are never the same, they change daily. I ended up getting the Belgian which was really tasty. This donut was an old fashion donut tossed in brown sugar & cinnamon. I can't wait to go again and try something new on their menu. I really recommend this place for a late night snack. Hours are from 11pm-1am

The perfect solution to a late night craving while you're out on the square. These donuts are awesome. I had the peaches and cream one once and that was incredible!

I have been going to back dough for five years and recently my friend and I went to get their doughnuts. Her and I both were extremely disappointed in the quality and taste of the doughnuts, they did not taste the same as they did a few years ago. I am unsure if the recipe has changed but they were hugely disappointing. Hopefully,​ they go back to their original recipe otherwise we will not be back.

The donuts are a little pricey but totally worth it. I tried the chocolate mousse donut- I was surprised at how large it was. I could barely finish it. The donut was hot with a sweet mocha cream filling. Absolutely delicious- one of the best donuts I've ever had!

Well, we just waited for over an hour for this place only to find out it's "cash only unless they don't have a line". So, I can't comment on the food, because after waiting for so long, we didn't even get to try it. Poor business practice, and i don't think we'll come back, no sense in supporting a business that doesn't care for its customers.
