I visited Black in Black in Bastille and had mixed feelings about the experience.
The coffee is genuinely excellent. It’s specialty-grade, well-extracted, and full of flavor — easily one of the better cups I’ve had in the area. If you appreciate proper specialty coffee, this place delivers. The atmosphere is also pleasant and relaxed, making it a nice spot to sit and enjoy a drink.
However, the food pricing does not match the value offered. I ordered pancakes with one egg, two slices of bacon, and syrup, and it cost €15. For that price point, I would expect either a more generous portion or more refined presentation. Other menu items, such as eggs Benedict with extra salmon, are priced similarly, which makes the pancake option feel particularly overpriced by comparison.
In short: come for the coffee — it’s very good. But I would recommend skipping breakfast or brunch here, as the portions do not justify the cost.
