"Those looking for a hot and spicy dish to torture their palate come away from Cuban cuisine a bit disappointed. Instead, the country’s dishes embrace bright notes of citrus, sautéed onions, garlic, and plenty of rich pork fat to liven up the meal. And at this cafe off Trousdale Drive, it comes in the form of flaky empanadas stuffed with a variety of fillings, croquetas, marinated pork dishes, sweetly fried plantains, and the insanely energizing colada (Cuban-style espresso)." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

It's always been a family thing to eat here. I love this restaurant and hope it never goes away. I always get the veggie plate(rice, beans, and plantains). The empanadas are great. Mango juice is a must! Don't forget to try the arroz con leche.

Best and most authentic Cuban in Nashville I used to live around the corner ~13 years ago and would frequent this place. Came back for lunch today due to being in the area - the food has only improved. If this place was closer it would be a weekly lunch. You cannot ask for a better authentic Cuban menu unless you go to Cuba. The food is done from scratch, fresh, and to order every time. Couldn't give this place higher marks for the food and counter service. A+ Pictured are the sweet plantains which were awesome

Back to Cuba never disappoints! The food is unforgettable and, as you listen to the music playing in the background, you can’t help but be fully drawn into the experience. If you are looking for a flavorful Cuban meal, this is your place!

I was excited to find a Cuban Restaurant located in Nashville after relocating from the Miami area of South Florida and was looking forward to finally finding a place to stop for a Colada. I visited around lunch on a Tuesday since they are closed on Mondays. They are located in a small strip mall with a gas station and several other businesses so the lot was crowded and their was a line inside. Once I got up to the counter I ordered a double shot Colada and a Cubano Sandwich off the menu. The service was adequate and the staff was friendly. The inside area of the restaurant was small but typical for a Cuban Lunch place. They also have several bistro style tables with chairs outside on the walkway. Most the other patrons were ordering to go so getting a table was not difficult. Despite the crowd my order arrived to me quickly. The Colada was a generous size for a double shot and had a nice espumita and was correctly sweetened. It arrived at my table relatively quickly but I was surprised to find it not hot but rather almost barely lukewarm and left me disappointed. I am hoping this was a one-off and that maybe it was delayed in reaching me or the espresso maker was not working correctly on the day of my visit. The Cubano arrived and looked great. I was disappointed to find that the bread seemed to be stale as it was very hard and crumbled apart as I tried to eat. I had read other reviews stating that the bread was hard but thought the reviewers were not accustomed to a sandwich being pressed. This was not the case though as the bread was dry and falling apart. The sandwich was dry and I did not find any mayonnaise and a very small amount of yellow mustard. While the portion size was decent I was unable to eat the entire sandwich due to how dry it was. I will try the Colada again when I am in the area but will probably leave the food alone and await our next trip back home.

Dang. This place is so good. I’ve been on sabbatical from giving reviews for a few months. But I had to come back to tell the world: get this food in your belly. It’s amazing. Seriously. I feel like we really went back to Cuba. (I also highly recommend going to Cuba. But that’s for a different review.)

I will have a smile on my face for a long time! I've been craving Cuban food ever since I left California. If you have ever been to Versailles and are craving it, Back to Cuba Cafe is the place to go. Manny was awesome and gave me great recommendations. I had the Lechon Asado and it was amazing!!! Think of Pulled pork with a Latin twist. You HAVE to come here! It's the BEST!!

I'm a Cuban from Miami working in Nashville for the next 6 months. Needless to say I was thrilled to find a Cuban Cafe in the area. Even more thrilled to find that the atmosphere and more importantly the food is 100% authentic. It's a bit of home here in Nashville and I most certainly will be returning. Thank's for the great food!!

The food here tastes very good. The cafe itself is very small and unfortunately due to COVID there are a few menu items like vaca frita and churrasco that are unavailable. It is a little more on the expensive side for Latin food, but the servings are large.
