Good pizza & beer spot. Had some great local bands & musicians playing outside & inside. Worth stopping by & giving out a try. Also, within walking distance the train depot too!

We had the opportunity/honor to visit the Massachusetts State in JUL_FY2024 and it was an amazing experience, a great opportunity to learn more about Massachusetts history and legacy. We swing by at BackbeatBrewingCompany, and for sure it's a remarkable place. Definitely, it's a place that deserves my respect. It was a privilege enjoy the amazing Doctor Love Stout and outstanding atmosphere.

This is a brewery doing amazing British style cask beers! Worth the drive from Boston!

My new favorite! Amazing real hand pulled cask ales like they serve in England. They also have some cold beers too like ipas and lagers, but be sure to try the cask ales. Food was very tasty too. Had the Mac and cheese the first time and tried a pepperoni pizza next visit and it was awesome, but it’s only available certain days so check ahead.

Best Pizza + Beer + Atmosphere in Beverly. Prove me wrong. I popped in a few weeks ago after a long walk around downtown and grabbed a beer. Solid beer. I enjoyed my beer on one of their patio tables out back under a nice umbrella. Today I went for a run, a long walk, and decided that I needed food before I crashed. It was between Backbeat and OTTO... I ended up going to Backbeat because they had nice seating and I was greeted with an amazing Pepperoni pizza with hot honey on the side. The person that tiled the pepperoni on my pizza should start doing bathrooms and floors because my pizza was amazingly covered with pepperoni. Each of them curled up but didn't burn. The pizza was a little thin, but not super thin and it didn't fall apart when you folded it in your hand. I ate 4 slices, I probably should've stopped at 3. I carried the rest home in a box. They have bands playing on weekend nights, clean bathrooms, board games out back, and a nice selection of bar food.

Some of the best Beer Cheese and Pretzels Ive had in a looong time! Can actually taste the ale in the cheese unlike some beer cheeses where its as if the cheese sat next to the beer ha! Vibes are immaculate, Allen and Frank are a joy to talk too. A great local place to come to any time of the week

I went around 11:30 on a Friday. I walked up to the bar and ordered a flight of 4 beers. Good pours, but a little $$. Nevertheless, beer was very tasty and service was great at the bar, had to wait a little longer than expected for food. Lunch was good. I enjoyed the Cuban, but needed more pickle in my opinion, I would get it again, but request more pickle. The beer cheese and mustard was very well done. Soft Pretzel was a little dense, but some people like that. I will be going back for multiple visits.

Backbeat always has an amazing selection of tasty, unique craft beers. Delicious pizzas on trivia night, and outstanding music.

Yelp
Cool place in the heart of Beverly by train station. Great staff that knows their beers which is hard to find these days. They have a food menu although I didn't partake. Tip: cool little British food shop attached with Cadbury chocolate, crisps and some meat pies

David S.

Yelp
Awesome beer with a great vibe! I love hanging out here. The service is also very friendly.

Yelp
Backbeat offers a nice variety of beers that is not a barrage of IPAs that you normally find at breweries these days. They've even gone back to the roots of English-style cask and IPAs that are rare in the current environments and styles that are being used in most craft breweries. The space is a new and clean, with an industrial feel. It's both welcoming and spacious, giving you a feel that there is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their drinks without feeling crowded or being in a dingy space. The servers are excellent and polite, giving you advice based on your tastes as well as being upbeat and passionate about what they do. It's been one of the better tap experiences I've had during the quarantine days that have been going on for 6+ months at this point. Let me put the negative reviews to rest on the food... this is not what you came for. There ARE cheap options to bypass the "rules" but we got the pretzel ("sticks") and while they were nothing to compete with a true German pretzel, it was serviceable. If people like "A Y." want to complain about wanting to brewery hop, then plan your day better or go to the Mass government Yelp page and blast them, not the local brewery that's doing everything they can to stay open AND continue to offer you a place to get out, enjoy a pint, and continue to abide by the rules. Happy to return here my next trip to Salem, it was a pretty good experience given the current circumstances.

Yelp
Hi. To the owner or manager - I promise to delete this review once you acknowledge it but this is the easiest way to make you aware of a situation. I love your coffee. But your morning shift barista destroyed the milk when she heated it up. It was sooooo hot it actually tasted slightly burnt and the increased temp destroys all the hard work of roasting your espresso properly. Short and sweet, you have to retrain the barista or I have to stop coming here. As an ex barista (can ya tell?), you need proper training to froth milk. Don't laugh readers! This is a technical process to get the temperature and milf fats whipped properly. If you can fix this problem- I'm a customer for life. Just reply to this post and once rectified I will delete the 1 star rating. Lastly, always ask customers if they want cinnamon on their cap- I f***g hate it and that didn't help the situation. However, when a drink is made properly I will overlook it. You have to get her some help - she thinks she's doing it right and I didn't want to be the know-it-all jerk customer who corrects here. Let's fix this please! I want to frequent your business. Thanks.

Yelp
This place was such a pleasant surprise in Beverly! We spent a few hours here on a Saturday afternoon, and could have happily stayed here even longer - there's just that much delicious beer & food! We snacked our way through a few things on their menu, starting with the Baguette & Pub Cheese (perfectly toasted!) and then moving on to the Pretzels with Beer Cheese (yes, cheese is the common theme in most of what I eat). The pretzels were extremely filling... but that didn't stop me from also ordering a giant oreo meringue cookie. This place has an amazing selection of baked desserts, which is a unique aspect compared to other breweries I've been to. The pulled chicken sandwich was wonderful as well (A+++ pickle... this is a key priority for me!). The brioche bun was soft and buttery and the chicken was moist and flavorful. It was a bit of a twist on a typical pulled chicken sandwich - more of a sweet ginger vibe, as opposed to traditional BBQ, but I really liked it! But what's a great brewery without some fantastic beer? Thankfully, this place delivers on that element too. First, let me just say that I LOVED the clever names to each of their brews (think the "Czech You Out" or "The Spunky Monk"). I also really appreciate that this place takes variety seriously - from NEIPAs to stouts to sours to pale ales to everything in between, Backbeat definitely doesn't pigeonhole itself into just one type of beer. But amazingly, everything they do, they also do REALLY WELL. The surprising underdog winner of the afternoon was the apple cranberry hard tonic. It wasn't something I planned on ordering until others raved about it, but I'm so glad I did. It wasn't a traditional hard seltzer (way more flavorful and fruity) - it literally tasted like Autumn in a glass! I also have to shoutout the space here - I was really glad that this was a brewery where you felt you truly had space to breathe without being crowded inside with too many other people (super important to me during COVID times). It was a big, open, airy space, with a nice mix of big tables for groups and smaller tables for couples. I am really looking forward to coming back here again throughout the winter - there are so many more beers (and so much more food!) I can't wait to try. PS. Bonus points for an exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The cherry on top of an all-around outstanding place.

Yelp
Of all things, I was not expecting to find a British-themed brewery/restaurant in Beverly. We walked in on a Saturday morning, and there was a group playing live music, which added to the Brit atmosphere. The menu isn't very long, but the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the hot dog, which is served in a baguette bun with a white bbq sauce. For $9, you get a large serving that will definitely hold you over. They also sell lots of british candy and snacks, if you're into that.

Emma J.

Yelp
Went for the beer and left extremely full and happy! We tried a good chunk of the brews and were really pleased with all of them. That's pretty rare! Also the hot doggy the baguette was amazing and I will definitely be coming back for more of that! Overall the atmosphere is really nice (indoor and outdoor seating) and I think this place might be the best of all the tap rooms/bars in Beverly. Am very interested to try the coffee and baked goods too.

Molly C.

Yelp
Great place for music, fantastic beer & chill vibe. Definitely will be back. Easy to find and no waiting.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
I had the Jack bomb sandwich which was gone in an instant because I had been stuck on the commuter rail for 2 hours before getting there. That being said, it looked like a messy deli sandwich in the best possible way where you know it's going to be good. Glad all the sandwiches came with a pickle and bag of chips as well. I had the Apple Cran hard tonic which was really good, but then I had the skip the gym heffiwisen which was really bready and heavy. Order at the bar, pick up at bar, return items to the bar kind of place (no hate, just saying for others)

Charlotte M.

Yelp
Awesome! Just finished my ham and cheese croissant sandwich. Who would have thought about having breakfast at a brewery? My daughter said the coffee was delicious and my English Breakfast tea was yummy. No after taste. Then onto the waffle with fruit and maple fresh cream shared by my daughter and 21/2 year olds grandson. The place is definitely child friendly. Go to the counter order, sit, wait a few, and presto your meal Is there. Fast for sure. Simple foods. Lots of space. Long picnic tables. Beautiful open outdoor area too. Live music evenings too! Please support these folks!

Tori K.

Yelp
My favorite spot in Beverly! I've tried their coffee, sandwiches, and a range of their beers (loved their blonde & their brown ale), and everything has been AMAZING! Atmosphere is fantastic. It's my favorite place to work when I'm getting stir crazy (and would be a great place to study since they have wifi)! The environment is much more suitable for working during the day than coffee shops around town in my opinion, and there is always PLENTY of available seating (with outlets). And live music every night?! They also have a ton of board games (FREE to play...) so I'd recommend Backbeat as a hangout spot for ANY age! They have an extensive breakfast, lunch and snack menu, in addition to a cafe menu (coffee, cole brew, espresso drinks...), beers on tap, and cask beers, etc. Oh, and service is amazing! Place is a GEM!

Yelp
Great beer, cool people. Love their live music, and in the fall when they open the doors, it's a beautiful hang

Lezeth A.

Yelp
I've been spending the month working here. Great WFH substitute. Good beer, nice vibe, light music, Coffee, and GREAT soft pretzels

Tetsu C.

Yelp
Located right across the street from a commuter rail station I expected this place to be more crowded. On a few of my visits Backbeat was pretty quiet but somehow the popular beers on the menu was not available which was disappointing. Nonetheless the staff were super friendly and I had a great time.

Jimmy C.

Yelp
Great open venue bad prices good food subpar beer good coffee good breakfast nice view of commuter rail

Charley B.

Yelp
Came here on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Friendly staff and good service. Cuban sandwich was delicious. Each beer was good in it's own way, but Jive was a standout NEIPA.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Wow this place was something special. We loved the hard tonics. I would say they are a little sweet for some people. These are not white claw seltzer. One tasted just like Crystal Light. We also enjoyed the beer selection of IPAs. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We bought a 1$ pickle to comply with the food with beer law. The pickles were so good we brought two more.

Eric Y.

Yelp
Atmosphere is nice. Love the outdoor tables. Live music is a good idea if the music were better. Beer is a good craft beer although it was something like a 10-12 oz pour at best. Staff is friendly and helpful. So why such a bad rating. The food. 2 sandwiches, a beer, and a soft drink came to over $48 (20% tip included). The beef brisket sandwich was fair. Tastes quite a bit of liquid smoke. Nothing great. The pulled pork sandwich was beyond terrible. It's like these people never had a pulled pork sandwich before. They use white meat pork instead of the shoulder or pork butt. The sauce was this odd white/creamy sauce with no flavor of bbq at all. In fact, the sandwich was near flavorless. No salt, no acid/vinegar. It was without a doubt the absolute worst pulled pork sandwich I've ever had in my life. Considering the bad/mediocre food and the small beer serving size(look at their website pics), I'd give this place a pass if you have other options.

Tom B.

Yelp
Great beer, food and people. Awesome location to jump right off the train or grab amazing beer, or before heading Into Boston for a game (if we ever get those again). Has a really unique British foods store onsite.

Suzy M.

Yelp
Best brewery I've found in a long time. Beer is exceptionally good with many varieties. This is a small locally owned brewery. The Brewmaster is Pete, who is one of the nicest people I have met. He is there most every day they are open, which is everyday but Sunday. Don't miss this great vibe with live music every night.

Grace C.

Yelp
There's something for everyone here. I don't drink much so my husband comes for the beer and I come for the eats. Over the summer the bbq was smoky and fall off the bone. The menu changes but the veggie Reuben is great and the smothered ham and rye was so good. Tables are spaced out and you can get cans and food to go. I learned their pints are served in British glasses so you get more than an American glass. ;)

Nick L.

Yelp
This place is the brewery I've been looking for! Great beer but also CASK ALE plus crisps to munch on with your pint (Hula Hoops and Monster Munch!) Also a great selection of snacks and confectionery from across the pond. Did I mention the cask ale?

Bri Nana G.

Yelp
Not from around here, and they were nice and helpful when deciding which to choose. Was a quiet place, the strawberry lemonade was delicious.

Nolan K.

Yelp
Love this place! Owner and staff are super friendly. Good food, great beer, large outdoor seating area. Highly recommend!

Camille C.

Yelp
This place is just awesome. Their beer is varied (meaning IPA's AND other beer) and we loved each one we tried. Each beer was complex and tasty. I especially liked their Cask beers. Their hard tonics are also delicious and a great alternative for folks who are not into beer. Food-wise, my wife enjoyed the Cuban and I loved the veggie Reuben; it was quite flavorful and just the right amount of spicey.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Love this place! Got a spot at one of the picnic tables on the patio and the beers, atmosphere and staff were awesome! There's also a few spiked seltzers on tap for the non-beer drinkers so there's something for everyone. Didn't eat anything but the menu items sounded delicious. Can't wait to go back and try the food and some more beers

Kylie T.

Yelp
Great, open spaced brewery! I'm in love with the Tribute to Tasty brown ale. Awesome location and food selection as well!

A Y.

Yelp
This place as a brewery is completely fine but this new "food with beer" law has made it so I have to consider food into the review. Expensive and subpar. If we're going to be forced to purchase food you should be offering something at one dollar. Not 7 dollars brownies or a shit whoopie pie I have to throw straight into the trash. Some people can't force down 4 meals at different locations and don't like wasting food. Will update when they fix their menu to offer an item that isn't expensive AND horrid.

Daniel H.

Yelp
Stopped in for a beer and ended up staying for several hours. The atmosphere is relaxing and the beer was great. I was satisfied with the food and the service. If you are in Beverly, I would highly recommend stopping by.

Christina B.

Yelp
Really excellent, varied beer selection with food available and socially distanced, shaded picnic tables. A good spot for Beverly,
