Had a great experience picking out climbing shoes for my son! Devin was extremely helpful and she have my son lots of tips on how the shoe should fit! Upon checking out, the nice gentleman encouraged my son to try different locations in the area to climb! This was our first time here and I was very happy with the customer service!

This store is a mixed bag, the problems seem to start from the top. While some staff are helpful and friendly, it's clear the management is more focused on short-term signaling than on actually growing, it's weird. There is inconsistent communication here that creates confusion and frustration for outdoorsy customers. The store's refusal to handle warranty claims, especially for bike and snow products, is seriously weird and makes it feel completely disconnected from the online shop. This lack of support for both employees and customers makes BC feel like it's simply treading water, pushing customers to shops that actually care about outcomes. I used to trust this place, but can't recommend them anymore.

Checked out this place for the first time. This place feels like a mix of REI & Moosejaw. They have a lot of camping equipment & a very nice bike area with a repair center. Overall decent price point and very friendly staff. Martin was informative on all the stores offerings & gave great customer assistance. If you’re in the market for any of these products make sure you check them out!!! 💯👍🏼👏🏼

I had a great experience at this store. I purchased a few items online that unfortunately didn’t workout for me. I was able to return the item at the store and they ordered the items I needed for me as they didn’t have it in store. I’m so happy with my new boots 🥰

Refuses to honor return policy at the time for purchases (I was attempting to return new, unused goods in original packaging). Retroactively changed the return policy to refuse my return. Do not shop here. Many alternative outdoor gear shops that actually honor their return policies nearby.

This has less about the store but the service in general. I ordered a pair of climbing shoes online first then requested a replacement for bigger size. I had to remind them to ship out the replacement. Then the shoes are still not the right fit so I went to the local store to return the shoes and bought a new pair. It’s been two full weeks, I haven’t received my refund so I reached out to the CS chat. And basically I have to remind them to process my refund. I have never had any experience like this before. You return the products and having to remind them to process your refund….? Please kindly improve your system. But I have to say the employees at the store are extremely friendly and helpful. This staff showed me the differences in between brands and models and was very patient with me and helped me with the sizing. So maybe don’t shop online in the future.

Abysmal customer service. I ordered an important item for an upcoming trip, with a large buffer between when it was to be delivered and when I needed it. The item is delayed in transit, and they are refusing to offer any form of support, expedite a replacement, or provide any possible solution. Their prices look good on the page, but if they cannot stand by their delivery times and do not assist customers when there is a problem, it is not worth the risk of doing business with them.

I had a fantastic experience at Backcountry! Josh was incredibly helpful with my purchase of a down jacket. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the Rab brand and took the time to guide me to the right choice. His friendly and professional approach made the process smooth and enjoyable. The other shop assistants were also very kind and welcoming, creating a positive atmosphere throughout the store. Although the store does not carry a lot of non-backcountry brand. Overall, I’m super happy with the experience and will definitely be back for future gear needs!

They have some nice gear, but a weird shop. If there was music on, we were in between songs the whole time we were there. There was an odd silence and everyone working was standing on the first floor talking. The second floor seems to be all discount clothes. I got tired of asking help to find something, and cannot speak to the prices comparison, it was such an awkward experience.

I'm so impressed with the staff here. Joe really went above and beyond to help me with my snowboard and help me put my bindings on. I really appreciated how quickly he did it and took the time to explain everything to me. Zach was also very helpful in helping me find my bindings. I was pleasantly surprised that they have an on-site tech to help with ski, snowboard and bike services. Thanks Backcountry for helping me this season!

The bike shop was super helpful! I bought pedals at a different store, but they were understaffed and wouldn't help me get my old pedals off. I went to this bike shop and they helped right away, no wait, no charge, removed my pedals and put on the new ones. Great experience.

I recently had a bike built for me by Clayton Patton at the Backcountry store in Chicago . Clayton went above and beyond to make sure that the fit was comfortable, the component geometry was correct and fit my riding style. Clayton also went out of his way to find the correct components to fit my budget for building up the bike. Clayton has a vast knowledge of components that fit your body type and budget. Clayton was very open to using existing components to stay within budget constraints. Clayton was very patient both in looking for parts and fitting me to my new bike. I would highly recommend Clayton and Backcountry to anyone looking to either buy a stock bike or build up your dream bike.
