"We know the saying is, “no friends on a powder day,” but you’ll likely want friends once the lifts have closed and you’re ready to share details about your sends. Backcountry Gourmet is the best spot to replenish and recount. You’ll find this food truck permanently stationed at two separate locations, and both serve up a concise, curated menu with sliders, salads, soups, and sides. One location is at The Nugget Mountain Bar about a mile south of Purgatory Resort that’s great for an apres-ski or apres-mountain bike bite, and the other is in downtown Durango within the 11th Street Station, a former auto repair shop that’s been turned into a food truck collective.  Order their pork belly sliders, plus a side of fries with your preferred seasoning choice, and grab a seat on the patio or inside the bar at either location. If you’re looking for a quick morning bite prior to hitting the mountain, the 11th Street Station location also offers delicious (and massive) breakfast burritos from 8-11am. " - kristin smith

Great spot in a permanent little food truck/hall (11th Street Station). Tasty fresh sliders, the beef tasted great. Fries were crispy and salted well. Variety of seating options inside and heated inside for those colder winter days. Lots of different food options, perfect for groups.

Lots of 5-star reviews, and while I get the love, I’d say it’s more of a solid 4 stars. The Wagyu BBQ slider was good (once they fixed the missing bacon — shoutout to the staff for handling that quickly and kindly). The steak slider was decent, and the truffle fries, while recommended, didn’t quite land for me. The team was super friendly and helpful, and overall it’s a spot I’d still recommend — just not quite in that top-tier category for me.

Nailed it. Stuck the landing. Hit the nail on the head. Food is perfect. Tell your cashier to smile... even slightly. But the food? Big, delicious, value awesomeness.

Randomly stopped here and was super pleased with our meal! We tried 3 different sliders, 2 salads, and fries. Execution 10/10 Absolutely delicious food, perfect portions. Cool spot to meet up for food & drinks. Some scumbag had just stolen the tip jar right before we arrived, & chef was sad. Somehow he managed to channel his disappointment in humanity into his craft and gave us a very memorable meal. I hope to go back there next time I’m in Durango.

This place is delicious! The crab cake sliders were one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. My husband loved the pork sliders as well. Great atmosphere. We plan to return before leaving town!

Tried there fries and veg sliders. I know French fries are a bit oily in general but when I went they didn’t drain the oil at all. I couldn’t eat them. Vibe of the whole place with multiple trucks is good.

I’ve been searching for a solid non-meat breakfast burrito in town! Their spinach breakfast burrito is huge and hits the spot. My preference is to sub cheddar for the feta, as I find it gives it a much better consistency and flavor profile. Be sure to ask for a side of their salsa, as that has great flavor and absolutely enhances the burrito! Backcountry Gourmet has a great vibe and offers excellent customer service. Highly recommend!

We had the Pork Belly Bkeakfast Burrito and then went back the next day to have it again. I had it mine made dairy free. The guy working there was super friendly and took pride in his food. There are indoor and outdoor eating tables and a coffee and alcohol bar inside, both open in the morning. Would recommend this place to anyone.
