The 15 Best Restaurants In Durango, Colorado

"We know the saying is, “no friends on a powder day,” but you’ll likely want friends once the lifts have closed and you’re ready to share details about your sends. Backcountry Gourmet is the best spot to replenish and recount. You’ll find this food truck permanently stationed at two separate locations, and both serve up a concise, curated menu with sliders, salads, soups, and sides. One location is at The Nugget Mountain Bar about a mile south of Purgatory Resort that’s great for an apres-ski or apres-mountain bike bite, and the other is in downtown Durango within the 11th Street Station, a former auto repair shop that’s been turned into a food truck collective.  Order their pork belly sliders, plus a side of fries with your preferred seasoning choice, and grab a seat on the patio or inside the bar at either location. If you’re looking for a quick morning bite prior to hitting the mountain, the 11th Street Station location also offers delicious (and massive) breakfast burritos from 8-11am. " - kristin smith

Google
Great spot in a permanent little food truck/hall (11th Street Station). Tasty fresh sliders, the beef tasted great. Fries were crispy and salted well. Variety of seating options inside and heated inside for those colder winter days. Lots of different food options, perfect for groups.

The culinary landscape is consistently evolving, with the appeal of satisfying meals remaining a constant. A delightful option in this realm is the creation of savory sandwiches. The preparation involves a meticulous selection of ingredients, contributing to a delightful blend of textures and tastes. The artful assembly of ingredients enhances the overall enjoyment.

Cashier was not very welcoming.. But Got 3 different sliders and they were great! The crab cakes were my favorite! The fliet migon slider had a few parts i couldnt chew thru and actually had to spit into a napkin.. Otherwise, great flavors! Can't wait to come back and try more!(and like 100 crab cakes)

Google
Lots of 5-star reviews, and while I get the love, I’d say it’s more of a solid 4 stars. The Wagyu BBQ slider was good (once they fixed the missing bacon — shoutout to the staff for handling that quickly and kindly). The steak slider was decent, and the truffle fries, while recommended, didn’t quite land for me. The team was super friendly and helpful, and overall it’s a spot I’d still recommend — just not quite in that top-tier category for me.

Google
Randomly stopped here and was super pleased with our meal! We tried 3 different sliders, 2 salads, and fries. Execution 10/10 Absolutely delicious food, perfect portions. Cool spot to meet up for food & drinks. Some scumbag had just stolen the tip jar right before we arrived, & chef was sad. Somehow he managed to channel his disappointment in humanity into his craft and gave us a very memorable meal. I hope to go back there next time I’m in Durango.

Google
Nailed it. Stuck the landing. Hit the nail on the head. Food is perfect. Tell your cashier to smile... even slightly. But the food? Big, delicious, value awesomeness.

Google
This place is delicious! The crab cake sliders were one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. My husband loved the pork sliders as well. Great atmosphere. We plan to return before leaving town!

Google
Tried there fries and veg sliders. I know French fries are a bit oily in general but when I went they didn’t drain the oil at all. I couldn’t eat them. Vibe of the whole place with multiple trucks is good.

Yelp
Crabcake slider and quinoa salad for the double win!! Yes to everything, bursting with freshness, flavor, and unique surprises like thin green apple slices with the crab cake sliders. Drop everything and get over there now!

Yelp
This is a food truck at the 11th Street Station location. What once was a gas service station this place is now is a collection of food trucks in downtown Durango. 11th Street offers open air & enclosed seating with pretty mountain & downtown views, along with beautiful summer flower pots scattered around the space. They also host live music all summer long. Tonight I had a couple of their gourmet sliders - the Filet Mignon. This comes with Blue Cheese Crumbles, which I omitted, Spinach, Roasted Garlic Aioli & Caramelized Onion. I've had this dish before & it's always been grest, however tonight there were several areas on the filet pieces that were raw. (I just ate the cooked steak.) Typically I would have requested new sliders but I was in a hurry. I also had a side of their regular house cut fries which were delicious...nice & crispy. It was a huge portion. Counter service wasn't up to par either, not particularly friendly. I'm hoping this was just a one-off. I will try them again in hopes this was the case, since this has been my go-to place in Durango.

Yelp
Wow, this breakfast burrito is big and savory. Way more creamy than the typical NM style. You'll need a nap after eating one of these.

Yelp
August 27, 2023. Sunday. Breakfast. Appearances are deceptive. This food truck, at the back of 11th Street Station, is small and hidden by an old Conoco truck. My wife and I ventured here because of all the great breakfast burrito reviews on Yelp. We love finding spots that are possibly better than homemade. The cashier accommodated us, because they were about 30 minutes from stopping burrito sales. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito ($12) with cheddar cheese, bacon, chipotle sour cream, hashbrowns, eggs and green chile. My wife ordered the pork belly breakfast burrito ($12) with pork belly, hashbrowns, pepperjack cheese, eggs, chipotle sour cream and green chile. Our burritos were ready in 20 minutes and our green buzzer vibrated. These were very large burritos. They toasted the tortilla on the outside, a nice touch. Green chile had absolutely no heat and the burrito could have used more bacon. Other than that, no complaints for size and taste. The chipotle sour cream went perfectly with the other ingredients. All the ingredients were fresh and the eggs were real, not powdered. My wife enjoyed hers and definitely said it was one of the best breakfast burritos she's ever had. Hit this spot up for a filling, top notch burrito. We had excellent service and left full.

Yelp
I had a filet mignon slider that had blue cheese and garlic aïoli on it. It was pretty darn good. I must say cute little outside area with food trucks. Nice when you come with friends because then there's so many choices..

Yelp
First the 11th Street Station concept is an absolute winner. Everyone was able to have something different. The weather was perfect for patio dining. The filet mignon slider and truffle fries were absolutely to die for. The meat was tender and delicious, the onions and bleu cheese added to the perfection.

Yelp
We decided to venture downtown to try out the establishments based on reviews. I was delighted to find the food trucks surrounding the watering hole! There was live entertainment, drinks, and the ambiance was great for an outdoor evening! I really was enjoyed the sliders and the fries that we had. I also ordered a margarita pizza from one of the trucks. Lets start with the sliders and fries.. BBQ BACON CHEESEBURGER SLIDER ($6) Grass Fed Beef/Cheddar Cheese/Bacon/Onion Ring/Tangy BBQ Sauce/Chipotle Ranch/Lettuce/Tomato. This is a delicious slider that we shared! Had a great flavor with a nice hot bun. Everything melted in my mouth .., great combination. FILET MIGNON SLIDER ($7) Blue Cheese Crumbles/Spinach/Roasted Garlic Aioli/ Caramelized Onion Now this was worth the wait! I loved the flavor with each bite. The bun had a different texture from the bbq slider but it was still great. Now the truffle fries!!!this was a huge portion and I enjoyed the crispness and the freshness of our service! Now for the pizza..this was a disappointment..I felt the pizza dough was not cooked because there were parts where it was still doughy. Maybe a couple more minutes in the oven would have been better. Overall great place to sit down relax and listen to the live entertainment. I would definitely venture back downtown for the sliders and truffle fries in the future.

Yelp
100% worth it, and the drive! Me and my mom just got back from Arizona, and wanted something small but delicious, THIS WAS IT. We got the fillet mignon slider, and crabcake slider. We just left, and it was gone like 2 minutes later, so, amazing, delicious, and amazing costumer service

Nunya B.

Yelp
Drove an hour to get here specifically for a breakfast burrito only to find out they only make them in the morning.

Yelp
Backcountry has the yummiest sliders! There's a good variety to choose from but I went with the BBQ bacon and pork belly! Both were delicious, but I'd probably lean toward the BBQ bacon if I only could pick one. The pork belly was pretty fatty in some places but had great flavor. I also tried the truffle fries and loved them! Service was super fast which is a huge win for me. I especially love where this is located--11th street station. There was live music to enjoy, plenty of fun outdoor seating, and just an overall great atmosphere. I will for sure come back!

Dusty C.

Yelp
This place has, and I cannot overstate this enough, the best breakfast burrito in town. Do yourself a favor and go get a pork belly burrito. Your stomach will thank you. The sliders are pretty effing good too.

Yelp
The backcountry gourmet is wild! We stopped by their cute food truck one morning and decided to share a couple breakfast burritos. These burritos were not only tasty but huge! Like 3 grown people could not finish two of them large. They were really tasty, definitely worth visiting.

Yelp
We just had the absolute BEST breakfast burrito of our lives. We mixed the pork belly and bacon and shared it because they are huge. Pictures don't do it justice, it's delicious we will be back for sure next time we're in town.

Christine B.

Yelp
The best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Whenever I'm in Durango I come here for breakfast & always order the Spinach breakfast burrito but my friends have tried the others & raves about them just the same.
google avatar

Naomi M.

Yelp
A few things to consider if you're coming for breakfast. Get there very early to expect to get your order in. If you can get one, the pork belly breakfast burrito is perfection. With large pieces of pork, cheese, hash brown and egg. However if you come within the last 45-30 minutes before the close for lunch, they will turn you away and they won't take your order, or give you an astronomical wait time to discourage you. A pro is that all their breakfast burritos are made to order, but a con is that they make the burritos to order and sometimes I wish they would prep better and rotate premade back stock.
google avatar

Erik F.

Yelp
The best breakfast burrito ever (seriously) prepared and served up by two enthusiastic characters! I had the bacon burrito which was abundant with flavor, and quite the hearty portion. While the chipotle sour cream and hand crafted salsa was good, the burrito stood on it's own. The bonus is that the kitchen team served up a generous dose of personality and banter upon pickup. They have a passion to serve up great food. I am happy I searched out the "best breakfast burrito in Durango".

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Delicious food at 11th street station which has great ambiance. Only complaint is I ordered the pork belly slider and got the filet mignon slider. I didn't realize till I had taken a bite and it was delicious so I kept it.

Sandra L.

Yelp
Yesterday was my first time eating there. The breakfast burrito was excellent...definitely could have shared with my daughter. She saw reviews on Tik Toc so we decided we needed to give it a try. I promise you the next time I visit this food truck I will give the server a little something to think about. He was VERY RUDE and condescending. If you don't like dealing with people then get out of this industry.
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Great sliders and amazing fries. I wish I could have tried all the flavors they offer for fries but we landed on truffle fries and were not disappointed. The filet slider was by far the most amazing thing. Great vibe and fun to picnic while enjoying lunch!

Yelp
For those Pride & Prejudice fans out there, in the words of Mr. Collins, "Many years since I have had such an exemplary breakfast burrito." My husband and I were looking for a substantive, to go breakfast. Admittedly tried a couple bakeries with no success. Came across Backcountry doing a quick breakfast Burrito search on yelp and it did not disappoint. The Green Chilis in the burrito really added to the flavor and it was definitely hearty enough for us to share. Legitimately excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing bacon breakfast burrito amazing service food came fast and very chill outside area with nice places to sit
google avatar

Amrita S.

Yelp
Oh my gosh... this might be the best burrito I've ever had. We hadn't planned this one but it's right next to Taste Coffee (good third wave option). I got their spinach mushroom feta green chile hash brown egg with chipotle ranch and man, was it yum! The fact that they grill it makes all the difference. Great service with a smile. Would recommend putting this on your list for Durango.
google avatar

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Awesome food, priced right. My husband and I ordered three sliders - the filet minim, bacon cheeseburger and crab cake, with a side of truffle fries. All three were amazing and well put together. You can tell the owner is an excellent chef with details like unique buns for each well thought out. Absolutely would return. We visited Union Social House and they have a location inside the bar where you can order.
google avatar

Suzanna J.

Yelp
Breakfast burritos are delicious. Best breakfast in Durango. I could eat a Bacon Burrito everyday but they big enough to split. Definitely a must to do if you're in Durango.
google avatar

Doug S.

Yelp
Interesting concept eatery. Appears to be a brick-and-mortar bar with several food trucks around a patio area. Turns out that all the food trucks are owned by the bar and are permanent fixtures so don't expect new trucks/choices if you return. We had the barbecue and it was good. Portions were a bit small, more on the line of a tapas eatery.

Calvin R.

Yelp
Food was excellent, however the guy that gave us our food was a complete jerk. Spoiled an otherwise pleasant experience. If you don't like customer service, find another job.Filet Mignon Slider was excellent

Jill B.

Yelp
Great food. Interesting setting--food truck(s) located in patio of a bar. Outdoor and some indoor seating. Good prices.
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
We ate here a few nights ago at the Nugget Bar location. The guys were so awesome. They took such great care of us. Food was awesome. We had the Filet and Crab Cake sliders. Delish!!!! Super friendly people! Amazing service!!

Kelsey S.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to grab breakfast in Durango. The burritos are hands down the best in the 4 corners and might be the best I've ever had. The sliders are also pretty good at lunch time. Every Friday I get a burrito from BG gourmet and a cappuccino from the coffee shop inside. I look forward to it all week.
google avatar

Jennifer E.

Yelp
So good! I would hear for salad for lunch one day and got the quinoa salad and added filet mignon and everything was delicious. I would only add maybe something crunchy into the salad. The salad was so good that the next morning my husband and I stop by for their breakfast burritos and we both agreed they were the best we've ever had! I got the gluten free (no tortilla) bacon burrito and my husband got the pork burrito. They were huge burritos too! Kept us full almost all day!
google avatar

Jayson L.

Yelp
Picked them from a number of interesting looking food trucks and was not disappointed even slightly. The filet mignon slider was amazing and as someone who doesn't like much pork the pork slider was out of this world. 10/10 will go again

Karen L.

Yelp
Cute little unique food truck setting. Service was wonderful by the gentleman we had. Food was ok. Small bites for the price. Also note that it is only local brews on tap so don't come here wanting your regular.
google avatar

Hailey S.

Yelp
The sliders here are DELICIOUS. We had the filet mignon sliders and even though they are filling and a great size, we could have eaten 10 more because they were that good. Every slider they had on the menu looked amazing as well - but they are very popular and some of them run out! So hurry up and eat here :) The two young male staff members working when we came were so nice and friendly too, they really made this a 5/5 star experience on top of the food.
google avatar

V M.

Yelp
Ok so let me tell you about the best breakfast burritos in Durango: the pork belly at Backcountry Gourmet. I don't know why this SW Colorado town couldnt do a decent breakfast burrito until now, but thank goodness BG came around! I love these! Lunch/dinner is also great, the crab cake slider is so good, the pork belly slider is so tender, and the tri-tip is super flavorful. Highly recommend all around!

Lindsey A.

Yelp
THIS IS A FOOD TRUCK - BEST ONE!! Y'all - this place is THE BOMB 100%! I literally enjoyed every single bite. We loved the Pork Belly Slider (the tomato & onion soaked in vinegar, and the aioli sauce is the BEST), Fried Green Tomato Slider, tomato soup, potato soup, and garlic French Fries. This is a food truck, in a square with other food trucks.
google avatar

Bennett F.

Yelp
An Employee of the store first messed up my order then proceeds to yell at me and tell me not to come to the window if my buzzer doesn't go off. Even though he gave my food away. Then another man gave me a refund and said that he would make my food. Then the first man came back and cussed me out and said i'm not getting my food and to get out of here. It was the worst customer service I have even witnessed. I would never suggest going here whatsoever.
google avatar

Jim T.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts burritos I've ever had and I must admit I'm quite particular about my breakfast burritos. The green chiles are a wonderful, smart touch. The gentlemen working here were great too! Highly recommend having them split your burrito for you as they are enormous for only $8!!

Troy W.

Yelp
Wasn't expecting a food truck, but the patio atmosphere was very nice. Friendly staff and most importantly, great Filet Mignon Sliders! Soooo good!
google avatar

Ivan K.

Yelp
Tucked away at Ernie's this food truck was beyond all expectation. I had each of the three sliders and couldn't get enough of each bite. The grass fed slider was incredible. The crab cake slider melts in your mouth with a wonderful buttery and yet tart flavor. The filet slider is an instant staple and classic! Try them all! I'm so glad I did!
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Great small burger, a real slider. They are a bit on the pricier side as far as burgers go but it's really good. And frankly sometimes a large burger is too much to eat lol. I wish they would start offering some zuberfizz or hell some regular soda lol. The truffle fries are really good, I dont know that they are worthy of the 5 dollar price tag but hey they aren't half bad. Really good food here at 11th street.

Nephi M.

Yelp
Had the pork belly breakfast burrito. Spectacular. Great food truck and enjoyable atmosphere .

Ian N.

Yelp
My wife and I were just stopping through Durango, and wanted to grab a quick bite. Couldn't be happier. We ordered two, but the burritos were so big we split one and took the other on the road. It was delicious. Def recommend.
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
Wow. That breakfast burrito is ON. 5 stars. Green chilis, hearty helping of pork, real tortilla.
google avatar

Adrienne P.

Yelp
Best breakfast burrito in the 4 corners! The guys working there are friendly and efficient & they use quality ingredients. The filet slider with a side salad is perfect for lunch!
google avatar

Ellie M.

Yelp
Best breakfast burritos! They are huge and not expensive. And the pork belly sliders are beautiful and delicious! Love this spot!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Best breakfast burrito I've had in Durango so far! Delicious tortilla, crispy bacon and the right size, I've been disappointed in other premade ones I've had around town. This is the best bang for your buck in morning!
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
Without a doubt the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. Not just in this area, but anywhere. It is SO good. It's also huge, so I always get one to split or save for later. Their lunch/dinner is great too - the quinoa salad is delicious and the sliders are always tasty and done really well. But the burritos, man.
google avatar

Heph Z.

Yelp
Hands down, the best food in Durango right now! The filet and fried green tomato sandwich are to die for. After living in this town for years, I was so disappointed in the food this trip. But BC Gourmet saved the week! We ate 4 out of 7 days at the little food truck outside The Nugget!!!
google avatar

Raj R.

Yelp
Quite simply the platonic ideal of breakfast burrito. Every ingredient is top notch, the caramelized onions mixing perfectly with the cheese and chipotle sour cream, the hash browns the heavenly intersection of creamy and crispy. The tortilla is crisped on the griddle resulting in a crispy, chewy, ooey, gooey, delicious meal that can easily feed two hungry adults. Do yourself a favor, eat here!
