This café, operated by a coffee roaster, has an excellent manual to ensure consistency in espresso extraction among its barista staff by using timers to measure extraction times. To maintain the temperature of the portafilter, they clean it after extraction, reattach it to the machine for storage, and release hot water from the machine head before extraction to keep its temperature stable. This meticulous internal manual is highly commendable. Naturally, the coffee was delicious, and the ambiance was wonderful. The warmth from the gas fire pit placed in front of the outdoor tables was cozy and pleasant. I strongly recommend this spot. Grab a coffee and head to Pilot Butte Viewpoint to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of Bend.

This is our go to place when we're out mapping restrooms. Easy place to order, sit, work and enjoy a nice cup. Staff is always friendly. The roll up door in summer is cool and the outside flamed patio is a good addition. Oh, the restrooms have a clean home vibe and we dig that.

Solid drip coffee served here, awesome, excellent beans for home consumption. Parking can be challenging. Flat whites are always tasty but at times served up lukewarm/warm.

The coffee is excellent! I’m a sweet coffee kind of person and the honey lavender latte is amazing! They also play good music and have a nice atmosphere.

Fantastic latte, warm people... but the music just a little too loud to have a quiet conversation or do computer work. Other than that, it's well worth the trip.

Made two visits because the Bombay Latte is magical. Get the Bombay latte for dine in and enjoy the good vibes inside or the fire pit outside. Matcha latte Togo was great for the road trip

Every time I'm in Bend I stop at Backporch coffee and think about the next time I can have their honey lavender latte each day between lol. I think it is the best lavender latte I've had - the syrup is locally made in Sisters, so I haven't been able to replicate. Also, the coffee itself is wonderful! Staff at this location was super friendly as well - lots of open tables and quiet.

A friend brought us here with rave reviews. However, her coconut milk latte was made without actual coffee (just a steamer), and my mocha was made without mocha syrup and then was far too sweet. The house made jalapeno cheese bagels were DELICIOUS however!

Quick service and friendly staff! Great tea, the black tea with orange blossom syrup is my new favorite and soooo addicting. Will be back specifically for this ice tea.

Coffee was pretty good, but I think there are some better places in Bend. They carry a lot of pastries from local bakeries and the ocean roll was good. Staff was friendly. Lots of outdoor seating, but it's on a busy road so ambiance isn't as nice as places downtown. Decent amount of indoor seating - would be a good place to get some work done!

The coffee at Backporch is my favorite in Bend. The people who work here and friendly and fast.

WOW I am so impressed with Backporch Coffee Roasters! Stopped here when driving through Bend to check out a local coffee roaster - ended up coming back multiple times during my 1.5 weeks in the area. The coffee is just really good. I got hot and iced lattes that were consistently made well. My friend and I tried out the pour-over packets which are perfect for camping or having in class. They have a case of great-looking baked goodies - the only vegan item is a bagel (hope for more in the future) and there are some gluten-free items. The sea salt chocolate chip cookie is amazing! There are also some bars and chocolate bars. The atmosphere is very laid back. It's the perfect spot to hang out with a friend or study/work on a laptop. Not too loud inside and they have free wifi that works very well (I was able to stream videos without any issues). This location has plenty of outdoor seating and a garage door style wall that opens when the weather is nice - I like the open/outdoor feeling. Can't wait to come back!

The coffee is good but service is very much subpar. This review is for the brick and mortar location, not the cart. Every time I have been to this location the employees seem to be inconvenienced by my presence. As soon as I walk in there is no greeting and no smiles. Then if you order multiple things you are told "HOLD ON!" with a hand up to slow the ordering. When they call out beverages it is the most lackluster thing I have experienced. They usually don't get names for their cups and when they call out the beverage they are so quiet you can't hear anything they're saying. There are plenty of other coffee shops in the area the focus on the customer experience. I will not continue going here. Hopefully the owners step in and support their teams in leveling up their customer service skills.

I want to know where these friendly baristas other reviewers mention were when I visited! The service I received was indifferent at best, oblivious at worst. Maybe this is a coffee shop more set up for a laid back Saturday morning. I came in on a Tuesday before work, and I'm glad I arrived early because the process from getting in line, ordering, and getting my espresso took over 20 minutes. I ordered a quad espresso, my go-to drink. It was $6.50. It was good espresso, but not $6.50 good. A friendly smile would have gone a long way.

I always have the best coffee drinks at this particular location. The staff is friendly, the service is great, and the music is always good too! I also appreciate that they have a few gluten-free options on the snacks menu. Highly recommend.

Great service! The barista suggested the Bombay with half syrup it was perfect also enjoyed the baked goodies.

PRO TIP: If you buy a bag of beans, you get a free drip coffee. The cashier did not disclose this to me until after I ordered a latte and paid. Stopped by Sunday morning. Ample amount of street parking and there's a parking lot in the back. The latte was okay, nothing super special. However, I got their ocean roll and it was splendid. It wasn't too sweet like a cinnamon roll, and had a hint of sea salt.

I visit Bend at least 3 times a year. This is by far my favorite coffee spot. I tried giving other roasters a fair shot - only to find myself coming back. The dirty chai is my go to. Best I have had hands down. Does not taste artificial. This time around I bought a bottle to bring home. The baked goods from local bakeries are good too. Try the Ocean Roll. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

What a huge drag. The coffee is solid, yet the staff consistently act elitist and super inconvenienced. If you can overlook feeling unwelcome and not being treated with kindness, give it a go. Bend has several options with equally good beans and coffee. I've stopped supporting them because it's so unpleasant.

Had to check out back porch coffee since it seems to be one of the local favs! Back porch has three locations, two of which have indoor seating and one which is drive thru. They have tons of drink options and pastry options. I got Gf pumpkin bread and an oat milk latte and it was delicious!

I always stop here at least once when I'm in Bend. Love the coffee and food, and the staff is so nice. It's a great place to hang out and enjoy your coffee and chat or work.

Backporch consistently creates the perfect cup of espresso! I order a hemp milk latte, extra hot with whip cream. It's a treat!! The employees are kind, genuine and become like friends. The atmosphere is clean, modern, & relaxing!! It's a perfect place to work, meet friends, or sit alone and think.

A bit pricey but you can taste the quality. Super friendly service A+ I like my coffee on the sweeter side so I ordered extra sweet and it was delicious. The place is a bit small and always seems to be busy but if you're looking for a good place to grab coffee with a friend or work on your laptop this place is great. 4 stars because the WiFi is spotty af and mediocre at best.

If I can give these guys Zero stars I would. The staff are not friendly( Atleast smile Guys!), Long wait! The coffee is good though. Coffee shops is about the ambiance and vibes...coffee comes 2nd. If you are thinking of coffee, go to sisters coffee or Kevista! Much much better!

Almost left Bend without visiting. Had been on my list to check out. So glad I detoured to come. Instantly relaxing and inviting environment, friendly and warm service. And though I was initially skeptical of the lavender honey latte, so glad I got it. It was so delicious! Def stop here for a lovely coffee shop experience!

Stopped by with my cousin who knows his coffee. After his first sip, he said this was the best coffee he's had on this road trip. He ordered the darker blend. This is mainly a coffee place. They do carry bakery goods made offsite, but there was a limited assortment and they were selling out fast. Quiet pleasant place to visit with a friend or just read the paper.

Overpriced. A lot of places will offer free refills, and fancier ones like this will offer $1 refills. The 50 cents off refills deal they have is pretty weak. I love coffee. So much so that I want to drink 3 or more cups in a sitting. Expensive refills and not being able to switch to a decaf drip are big turnoffs. Friendly and accommodating employees bump this up to 2 stars.

I end up going to this coffee house because it's in walking distance of my sister's place. However, I really don't think this coffee is very good. I tend to believe that a good cup of coffee is one that doesn't get bitter as it gets cold - this coffee gets so bitter, I end up having to toss it. Or if I forget about that and drink it, my mouth puckers up and I wonder why the hell I did that to myself. If are you are getting a fancy drink, it's good because you have flavors and milk there to distract you. That's what I end up doing... fancy drinks. And then I'm paying a lot more. I'm more of a black coffee drinker, but here I've got to ditch that notion. Finally, I find the workers here not that friendly, and the chairs have my nether regions numb before I'm even done with my coffee. I get it... you don't want people hanging out for a long time. But these metal seats don't even let me finish my drink in peace.

The tastiest vanilla latte I have ever had!! This was a little gem we stumbled across on our road trip. Super clean, staff were extremely friendly and the coffee was truly amazing. We could really do with cool little places like this in Texas.

Excellent local coffee shop with fresh flavor and crisp coffee deliciousness! The aroma of the coffee house is pleasant and breathes life into you as you enter through their doors. This was our home coffee shop for a long weekend in Bend, and we really lucked out. This was a great way to star our day. Their espresso is my favorite in town (we've tried all the big ones). Although I don't love too much fancy-fancy with my espresso these days, I will say they use the best almond milk. The nuttiness really pulls out the flavors in their espresso. I picked up a lavender latte one morning for my brother which was aromatic, but subtle in flavor (i.e. exactly what you want). The design of the shop is clean, the bathroom art is beautiful, and their customer service, and product are reliable.

I enjoyed my morning stop here thanks to welcoming employees, good coffee and tasty breakfast treats. They had delicious baked goods from FOXTAIL and Sparrow. When we were there, the coffees available were Colombian and Kenyan, and I always like having the option between South American and African considering the usual differences.

This branch is a little smaller, and at times, the parking may be limited, but walking can be part of the fun. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing even when there are many people. There is outdoor seating that is very nice and peaceful, but only when it is under 90º, because there is no shade. I have experienced friendly employees who are always patient and easy-going in conversation while drinks are being prepped. Great location if you are looking for a quick order, they are fast even when there is a line. Sometimes I have ordered, and needed, complete decaf but ended up with the jitters waaay too close to bed time, Oh no! I absolutley love the superb espresso at any Backporch Coffee, and even tho I like sweetened coffee, the drinks here are delicious plain-jane. Try your first few sips and gulps plain, then add your sweetener afterwards, because the experience is worthy.

Without a doubt, the best coffee in Bend. The staff is also delightful and helpful. What a wonderful local company. Can't wait to return back again!

Back in Bend for a visit after living here for 26 years and back at Backporch to revisit friends! This coffee spot is the best coffee hands down in all of Bend Oregon. When one doesn't want to make the drive to Sisters for Sisters coffee, then one goes to Backporch where you are family! Dave is the owner and is bringing in incredible coffee from all over the world!! The east side is my favorite because of Amanda and Evette. These two ladies typically work weekdays opening morning shifts and they are fantastic. I miss their smiles, friendly service, and great conversations about their lives. Great people make a place like this special. After being gone and coming back in they still remembered my name, And I their's. All locations kick it up a notch by serving Sparrow Bakery who is notoriously known for their Ocean Rolls. If there was a way to get these fresh delivered every morning in Texas I'd pay some serious money to make it happen! When you're in the mood for real coffee then find your way to Backporch and never return to any other coffee places in Bend!

Okay, just gonna say, right off the bat the atmosphere here is awesome. Cozy and warm and yet still open and bright. The staff was nice and kept the place clean, plus one of the best mochas I've ever had. Definitely a good spot to relax and read or write or even catch up with someone.

This location of Backporch Coffee Roasters opened recently. The interior is clean with almost an industrial feel. The quality was consistent with the other locations. The barista was engaging and the customer service was excellent overall. The parking lot was a bit small which may be problematic if it were busier. 4 stars.

I have to say, these guys know how to roast and brew some coffee beans. Always more than satisfied. Great place to sit by yourself or with friends and just enjoy your coffee. Their 3 Bend locations have great decor with reclaimed wood.

Good atmosphere, nice selection of pastries. The AeroPress I ordered was just meh--nothing interesting teased out and no better than drip (underextracted, temp too cold). No choice of beans or roasts offered. Disappointed.
