The City Just Kicked Backstage Coffee Out of the DCPA | Eater Denver

"After 13 years operating inside the performing arts center, this longtime coffee shop is closing following an eviction dispute with the city. City officials say the shop fell behind on rent (about $73,391.61) and failed to provide required sales reports; the owners counter that they were not previously asked for reports, blame a drop in sales after the city removed the space's HVAC system last year (they are suing over that removal), and suggest the city may replace them with a corporate caterer that is temporarily taking over the space. The owners encouraged patrons to support nearby local businesses and say they may consider reopening in the future." - Paul Albani-Burgio

This charming Victorian-style house, lives up to other reviews of feeling like a hidden gem, full of vibrant and whimsical charm. It’s a cozy and colorful coffee shop full of personality and flair…lots of flair. with intricate woodwork and a red roof. The bold pink sign out front with its psychedelic-style lettering immediately signals that you’re in for a unique experience. The coffee bar area is playful and intimate, decked out in various shades of pink. The eclectic countertop displays toys, trinkets, and menus, making the space feel like a cross between a coffee shop and a Barbie dreamhouse. Two other rooms in the house provide cozy seating areas flooded with warm natural light. The decor creates a nostalgic, lived-in atmosphere perfect for sipping a latte and relaxing with friends. Overall, the coffee shop has a fun, retro-inspired aesthetic that feels welcoming, artsy, and unabashedly bold. Oh, and the coffee was bold too with unique flavor combos to choose from.

Backstage Coffee is my new favorite gem in Greenville. From the moment you step in, you're welcomed by a colorful and fun atmosphere that lifts your spirits. I was greeted with a warm welcome and the baristas made an effort to connect personally with each customer. They also seemed to be knowledgeable about their craft, and were eager to recommend beverages, especially from their seasonal menu. Within the shop, you can find multiple menus and business cards along the coffee station, near the register, and on the wall. They perfectly match the shop’s creative ambiance. They have an active presence online, both on their website and social media accounts, where you can easily find their menu, seasonal offerings, and regular posts. Prices are clearly displayed on both physical menus and digital platforms. The shop offers seasonal menus, introducing fun and unique drinks that keep customers returning to try the latest creations. Overall, I had a welcoming and authentic experience at Backstage Coffee.

Backstage Coffee isn’t just another coffee shop, it’s an experience, and that was evident from the moment I first discovered them online. Their branding and marketing are a perfect blend of artistry and authenticity, making me eager to visit before I even stepped through the door. Their social media presence is a standout, featuring high-quality images, behind-the-scenes content, and community-focused posts that feel genuine and engaging. They don’t just showcase their drinks; they tell stories—whether it’s the inspiration behind a new seasonal latte or the journey of their coffee sourcing. Their posts create a personal connection that made me feel like part of their world. I especially appreciated how their marketing seamlessly translates into the in-store experience. The atmosphere matches what they promote: warm, welcoming, and infused with passion for both coffee and community. Beyond their strong branding, the coffee itself is outstanding. Every sip of my latte was smooth, balanced, and clearly crafted with care. I also tried one of their seasonal lattes after seeing it featured on their Instagram, and it was just as delicious as it looked in their posts. Their attention to detail extends from the digital space to the in-person experience, creating a sense of consistency and professionalism that’s rare to find. Backstage Coffee nails it when it comes to both product and presentation. Their marketing efforts don’t just draw you in—they deliver on every promise, making you want to return again and again. If you’re looking for a coffee shop that truly understands coffee, branding, and community, this is it! Highly recommend it! 🙌☕

From the moment you walk through the door, you’re wrapped in a feeling of warmth and love. The owners are some of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, and every barista greets you like an old friend—always ready to chat, laugh, and make your day brighter. Each drink is made with so much attention to detail, you can truly taste the love in every sip. The menu is always changing with creative, seasonal themes, keeping things fresh and exciting—and everything I’ve tried has been absolutely delicious. The shop itself is a happy and cozy home. It’s filled with love, laughter, and lots of pink! Whether you’re stopping in for your daily caffeine fix or just need a little joy in your day, this is the place to be.

Backstage Coffee is hands down one of the coolest coffee spots in Greenville! The pink interior is vibrant and inviting, and it really sets the place apart from any other coffee shop around here. I love that the menu changes with the seasons and holidays — I tried the Lucky Charms drink for St. Patrick's Day, and it was delicious and super fun! The staff were so friendly and walked me through their menu. The upstairs vintage clothing store adds to the trendy, college-friendly vibe, making it more than just a coffee shop. Definitely my new favorite spot in Greenville!

Yelp
This is the cutest, little coffee shop in Greenville! The coffee here is good, and they have a constantly changing seasonal menu that has fun and unique drinks. I highly recommend if you are in the mood to try a fun and new coffee drink. All the staff is always so kind and friendly, it is always a pleasant experience whenever we go. The setting is also as unique as the drinks, in a house in uptown Greenville decked out in pink, glitter, and funky decor. It also houses a vintage shop and restaurant. I love the vibe, and fair warning it can fill up quickly. Backstage coffee is defiantly a unique and fun place to visit in Greenville!

Yelp
So good! Creative coffee and other drinks and fun and welcoming. And delicious! Try Moosie's food out back too. And a great place to study and hang out!

Yelp
Got 2 drinks, ordered a maple late that tasted like someone just poured espresso and milk over ice. The other coffee was flavored wayyyyyy too much. It tasted overwhelmingly like orange extract. Service was fine l. Atmosphere is not my bag but not terrible
