Great service and gorgeous ambiance. While the decoration isn't my style, it was very pleasant and tasteful, it felt like a Prada store. The staff was very attentive and friendly, even though their English wasn't that good. I ordered a la carte. The food was good, with good presentation and flavors. However, I was surprised that the quality was only slightly higher than in the many sidewalk eateries in Hanoi. Especially the beef and pork meats were mediocre; chewy meats are the norm in Vietnam, but I was hoping this restaurant to do better. The bread was great, and the dessert was completely disappointing; despite claiming that they use Marou chocolate, a local brand that serves great desserts, it had barely any chocolate flavor. At the end of the day, it's an inexpensive fancy restaurant, and if you don't have high expectations about the food, it's totally worth it for the rest of the experience.

Wonderful experience - from the food to the ambience and service. Love that we get to pick our pickles! Food was delicious. Although expensive by local standards, the portions were very large e.g. each noodle dish could feed two persons. What to order: - Halong Stone Crab noodles (must try!) - Bun Cha Had a great time here!

We went with the set menu and wine paring and weren’t disappointed. The restaurant reflects its proximity to the opera house and was peaceful even though it was almost full. The staff were very professional and welcoming. We were fortunate to speak to the sommelier throughout and his knowledge and experience added to the overall experience. The food and wine were of the quality expected at this level and we had a great evening. The only thing lacking was our photography. The first dish was excellent 😊

Our first night landing in Hanoi and we stumble upon Backstage hungry and tire. Despite not looking well dressed to dine at such a beautiful restaurant, we were greeted by friendly staff. Our waiter Frank was super helpful with the menu and later tips about getting around The French Quarter. Our son order he tenderloin, what a treat he devour the whole dish. Overall a great dining spot for family and we would likely return again. I hope Frank gets a promotion soon! Oh, the wine was super yummy too 😋

Expensive restaurant in an expensive hotel. The space looks and feels decadent like a French restaurant of the 70’s. The food is correctly made and presented but lacks flavor fantasy and probably no passion in the kitchen . This was a lost opportunity looking for a high level expression of Vietnamese cooking . There are definitely better places. Service was good and “ correct”. Time for Michelin to update its review?

I had the pleasure of dining at Backstage, the signature restaurant at Capella Hanoi, and overall, it was a delightful experience that deserves a 5-star rating. As a vegetarian, I truly appreciated the effort the restaurant made to accommodate my dietary preferences. While I must admit that the vegetarian selection on the menu was somewhat limited and could benefit from more variety, the dishes that were available were thoughtfully prepared and presented with elegance. I tried the vegetarian version of Bún Chả Hà Nội – a creative take on a traditional local dish. Although the flavors were pleasant, I would rate it 3 out of 5, as it lacked the depth and richness typically found in its original counterpart. What truly made the experience memorable, however, was the excellent service and refined atmosphere. The staff were attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. One of the highlights of the evening was the cocktail experience – a mixologist came directly to my table and prepared a personalized cocktail right before my eyes. It was not only delicious but added an engaging and theatrical element to the meal that I thoroughly enjoyed. The design of the restaurant is stunning, with an elegant blend of theatrical flair and modern sophistication. It felt intimate and luxurious without being overwhelming. In short, while the vegetarian menu still has room for expansion, Backstage more than makes up for it with impeccable service, atmosphere, and creativity. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined dining experience in Hanoi - especially if you enjoy crafted cocktails and attentive hospitality

The service exceeded all expectations, with the manager bringing so much enthusiasm and joy to every interaction—it felt like more than just a meal; it was an experience. The pairing set was bold and creative: high-acid drinks with appetizers, IPA with salad, and even a Vietnamese sweet rice wine paired with duck. I appreciated the innovation, though some pairings—like creamy drinks with creamy dishes—felt overwhelming after a few courses. Still, major points for creativity and daring combinations. The food itself was flawless; every dish was thoughtfully prepared, and even small touches like the pickle cart were memorable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a fresh and joyful take on Vietnamese cuisine.
