DFW Restaurants and Bars Where You Can Watch Football | Eater

"Captain’s orders: You must go to Backyard for your next football game-watching experience. And coincidentally enough, Captain’s Orders is the name of a menu favorite guaranteed to transport your taste buds to the tropics. Made with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, cream of coconut, orange and pineapple juices, it’s a perfect sipper any time of day at this 12,500-square-foot, year-round patio behind Bottled Blonde." - Steven Craig Lindsey

The Best Sports Bars in Dallas

"This giant spot inside a warehouse in Deep Ellum has 45 TVs, which is insane, and a massive patio to boot. It’s dog friendly if you want to bring Fido along and the crowd really gets into the games. It’s a solid pick for a big group of folks — order a tray of sliders and onion rings to go with that bucket of beers and cheer as loud as you can." - Courtney E. Smith, Kevin Gray

The 15 Best Dallas Restaurants With Fireplaces and Fire Pits | Eater Dallas

"To be clear, Backyard is more like a greenhouse than an actual outdoor space given that it’s covered and mostly closed in, yet the dog-friendly Deep Ellum bar offers several fire pits to cozy up to, along with games like shuffleboard and corn hole. This place gets insanely packed (and noisy) on game days, be forewarned." - Whitney Filloon

Google
Order was wrong, their menu didn't have most of the beers or the ingredients for the cocktails. Then looking at the check there's obviously math that's not adding up. Servers seemed like they could care less. Yes, dogs are welcomed and I was super excited to see the corgi but most of the machines take coins. Really disappointed.

Google
The vibe was more for a younger younger crowd....early 20s early 30s, but it wasn't bad... especially on a Sunday. It was kind of slow. However, I'm sure it picks up during football season. The place had a lot of table games etc.. and drinks were not too bad! Overall l, I would definitely go again!

Google
Very fun. Food was good. Even though we didn’t get to have any drinks I had a nice time! It was a great experience and my job is the best!

Google
Long overdue but wanted to give a huge shout out to Chloe and the entire team at The Backyard. We hosted one of our annual live events at the bar in early December and the entire team had a blast and we received multiple testimonials afterwards that were all positive. With our company name being "Underdog" the bar could not have been more fitting with the dog mural and overall vibes and staff morale. Attaching some photos from the event but we absolutely look forward to the next time we are in Dallas. Thanks again Chloe and team!

Google
This was my first time visiting this establishment, and while I initially enjoyed the games and overall setup of the space, I was extremely disappointed with the service. I ordered two shots and a side of fries, and when it came time to get the bill, my experience took a turn for the worse. Before the waitress even brought my check, I noticed my card had already been charged from the bar. Upon reviewing the bill, I was shocked to see I was charged for three shots, and the price per shot was incorrect. The menu clearly stated that Lemon Drop shots were $9.00 each, meaning my total should have been $18, yet I was charged $30 for just two shots. When I brought this to the waitress's attention, she acknowledged the error but claimed there was nothing she could do to rectify it. I requested to speak with the manager, but he completely dismissed my concerns. It was around 6 PM on a Thursday, and the establishment was far from busy, so there was no reason for such poor service. Ultimately, after waiting an unreasonable amount of time with no resolution, I decided to leave rather than continue to engage with an uninterested staff. My good experience quickly turned sour due to the lack of accountability and customer service. I will not be returning to this establishment, as the manager’s indifference, billing errors, and added fees have left a lasting negative impression.

Google
Backyard in Dallas is the kind of place that feels like your own backyard—casual, friendly, and unpretentious. Great for laid-back hangouts with solid beer selection, friendly bartenders, and comfort food done right. Perfect spot to unwind without any hassle

Google
Food was really good. Drinks were good but too expensive for how little you get. Server was awful. Had to get the bar to track her down every time we needed her because she would abandon our table. I see why they do auto grat here and hold onto your ID. Would be so easy to dip out since the staff just ignores you.

Google
This place is great. We are on a trip from Oklahoma to the coast. We stopped here and we didn't know that they dont allow under 21yrs old during the week. BUT they made an exception and let us go ahead and enjoy their very creative space! Not to mention 4 of us are for 36 bucks! Win!

Yelp
I had the most NEGATIVE experience at the Backyard! As a single mom of alumnis, I flew into town to celebrate the Red River Rivalry and decided to come to Dallas and spend my hard earned money this weekend! Our family decided NOT to go to the game and instead come to the Backyard. After 30 minutes of being in the establishment, security and management thought that when I leaned on a post, closed my eyes and sat quietly at our paid table that I was TOO INTOXICATED to stay and was kicked out by 12:30 PM. I AM A 55 YEAR OLD CANCER SURVIVOR, on medications that not only pushes my body to have menopausal symptoms, it causes me to have fatigue! I was not drunk, I was quiet, sitting at a paid table watching tv and to say that I was upset, having to leave my family and the entire celebration was an understatement! I flew in from out of town specifically to celebrate with my family whom I do not get to see all year long! On Saturday, management decided to make me leave without trying to understand my situation. In order to not embarrass my family, I left without making a fuss. What a TERRIBLE place, what HORRIBLE management. Red River Rivalry is a big deal! People shouldn't be working if they can't handle humans. If they can't have grace or just treat customers with respect. I saw many young drunk & loud customers and yet they were allowed to stay... I hope that the security and management team members one day get to experience someone they love with cancer and I hope that they remember how their actions affected someone already going through hell... There could have been other solutions, but unfortunately, management here is taught not to give a shit about their customers, especially older customers who are quiet cancer survivors on medication! DO NOT COME HERE if you want to be treated with grace and respect! THEY ARE NOT KIND, THEY ARE NOT COMPASSIONATE! They really do belong in the backyard! So spend your money somewhere else where they actually give a fuck about you! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Yelp
So I came to this place one day when I was denied entry into Kanvas because of a dress code. When I arrived to this place the doorman told me the same thing about the dress code but still allowed me in as it was during the day. The food was not really good at all. The service was amazing. I wouldn't recommend this place a lot. Nothing exciting

Yelp
Went for a corporate happy hour. Great vibes, fun activities to play with friends (cup pong, ping pong, cornhole), and a little arcade area. Love how bright it is - although it does get pretty hot inside. Bartenders are great!

Ethan R.

Yelp
My group and I got a table for the Red River Rivalry this past Saturday, and the only thing worse than OU's offense was the service we received while watching the game. Wont be back.
google avatar

Robyn S.

Yelp
This is an awesome spot to play yard games in the air conditioning and has solid drink options. They have a pay lot next door for parking. Indoors there's corn hole, large format connect 4, air hockey, basketball shooting, pool, etc. Nice bartenders.

Yelp
We had a ball here people watching as well as dog watching. Just be careful when you order a beer and they ask you if you want to make it a "Large". We both said "yes" and was then served the largest beers of my life. If it had had a spout I would have thought it was a pitcher and we spent the rest of our time drinking beer using both hands. :-)

LaDonna C.

Yelp
Such a fun place to watch Sunday football. We are from out of town and were looking for somewhere to go. Troyer, the guy at the door, gave us so much information about the area and was the only person at any of the bars to welcome us in. We will definitely be back.

Jasmine M.

Yelp
Overall the place was cool BUT I got to the door , I asked the man if there was a fee if I don't have my ID? Most places . No ID No Entry . So the man who I guess checks Id's he proceeds to say $20. So it was 2 other people behind me . After I payed that 20? He didn't even care if the rest of the party had identificaction. I called the next day and asked is there a fee if I have no ID . They said no . I don't care if the fee was $5 .. Don't charge for your own personal gains . Run me my 20 Back thanks

Yelp
Tons of fun and great food, I'm definitely going back when I visit Texas again. The customer service was awesome as well!!!

Yelp
I wouldn't give this spot one star. It's terrible. They have severs that want to take your money and kicking is out at a table we had for over 2 hours and wanted to give a table to some guys that were ordering more drinks. Scam scam scam...upsetting honestly. Terrible service and terrible people here. You can improve everything

Yelp
Very chill spot in dallas, if you are wanting to hangout publicly with friends or settle those fun disputes then this is your place! Great food and fun games!

Yelp
Front door was great! Hyped up the place before walking in and had a great attitude on the establishment! Backyard is THE spot for game days!

Yelp
Definitely I dope little spot to drop in on. Games, Bar, ALOT of seating, and food. The service is great, no complaints. The food is also very good.. they have really good happy hour deals, deals that you wouldn't wanna miss.. Thursday and Wednesday half off everything, and on Wednesday all games are free !! DOPE!!! I will definitely be back , count on it! And you should stop by as well!
google avatar

Chijioke N.

Yelp
This place simply doesn't miss.. great scene, vibes and music.. I actually love this place. The food was truly BUSTING ! The servers are always helpful and attentive, even at the bar where I normally sit it's always smiles and good service
google avatar

Yelp
For a minute I thought this was a joke but it's NOT... so we ordered this appetizer just know you will pay $15 for 6 onion rings and 6 pickles disappointed but other than that everything else was OK not in a hurry to come back...you might want to ask your waitress if it's worth ordering an appetizer. Was there to watch the World Series game

Yelp
I gave this place a 2 star rating for multiple reasons. 1. They advertise this as a dog bar but when we got in there 0 dogs to be seen. We brought our dog and i assumed there was a outside area but the restaurant is made to look like you are outside. We asked to be sit in a booth area so i could keep my dog in a corner area so she didn't wander off or get excited while we ate. The waitress was hesitant but said sure. 2 min later someone else came up to us and said we couldn't sit at the booth because there were for bigger parties. We moved but I was annoyed because it was so loud in there. More like a club atmosphere and we had to sit next to all the people playing corn hole and rowdy crowd. I wanted to leave but We were starving so we ordered the buffalo chicken salad which was pretty basic. The sever didn't even ask if we wanted blue cheese or ranch dressing and brought it with blue cheese which i was not happy about. The decor is cool though. I'll give them that.

David I.

Yelp
I went here last week with 2 friends to play corn hole. we had 2 beers each and a couple appetizer. The bill was close to $100. They added almost $20 in service fees. I got home and on their website it said service only added to parties of 6 or more. The food and service was great but I'll never go back. shame on you.
google avatar

Fatima C.

Yelp
Terrible drinks and service. The arcade games don't take credit cards and gives you an error. I tried 3 different cards. Also, the last time I was there you had to pay an entrance fee for a donation that was forced. Less than 10 minutes after we entered, they closed down the table where they forced people to donate. How ridiculous! The drinks were filled with cheap liquor and I was unable to consume.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
They could do better. We spent over $500 and we had a table that they came around and said $350 if you want to stay at this table. It wasn't a booth or anything special...a table. If you wanna do that, cool. But put up a sign...we tried watching the cowboys game and half way through you decide to say pay or leave? On top of that gratuity added plus venue fees...
google avatar

lisa k.

Yelp
Super fun, great drinks and food! Great for families too! Austin like vibe! Also great to watch sports ;)
google avatar

Jeff J.

Yelp
This is a pretty fanfuckingtastic place I will say, theres a shit ton of tv's for whatever event you wanna watch & the drinks are tasty as fuck. I came on a Wednesday night & it was not at all crowded & I wanted to watch the yankees game so a SUPER attractive lady in a very stylish hat & dress with a cute lil pit bull following her around went into a high voltage room & turned the game on for me. Damn she was HOTT! They've got ALL the fun backyard drinking games you can think of like corn hole, giant jenga, beer pong, giant connect 4 etc etc. I had the mini corn dog appetizer & a pulled pork sammich for a main course & both were so fucking delectable. The only complaint was its pretty warm in there & they do have a lot of those heavy duty fans blowing harder than a thai hooker but its not the same as AC. But I get why because its a open air venue, theres lots if open walls in there with large openings/cracks so it would probably cost a fucking fortune to pump ac into that place. The shitters in the mens room loom like the kind you would clean with a power washer but because of the type of place I did not take issue with that. Probably a fun place foe dudes cause most of the bartenders are super hot scantily clad lady's with daisy dukes on & they were all very friendly & fun. Im looking forward to my next visit here.

Yelp
Perfect spot for game day! They have really good wings as well. Parking sucks so prep for that.

Yelp
The Backyard is a super dope bar & grill in Dallas, TX. They have a cool and hella spacious semi-closed/semi-open space that's perfect to hang with your friends! Definitely worth checking it out when in Dallas.
google avatar

Curt W.

Yelp
We were sitting at a table and were asked to leave because a Cowboys game was starting and they reserve the tables for games. Our group of 6 was asked to stand so two people could take our table. There was no mention or sign on the table when we sat down an hour before a game was starting. We left but we're charged a venue fee and automatic tip that I was not told about so I accidentally double tipped. Sorry excuse for a business. It is dirty and too loud to be run this way. Never going back.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
Very poor representation and lack of customer service. Wouldn't let our friend in cause he didn't have belt loops, yet let others in after him in very similar outfits. Not to mention others inside with same fit. Said if he paid $20 they'd let him in. Girl at front desk was nice, just wanted to let her know the disservice as the rest of us left. When leaving bouncer in hat with blonde tips in his pony tail said "yeah keep crying" . Politely asked him what he just said, and he looked behind himself as if someone else said it, when he was the only one in the area. Wouldn't look at me or say anything additional. As we started to walk away, he yelled "bye-bye "and waved. It's 840p on a Friday, just trying to watch 2nd half of Mavs game, there is no need to be so restrictive let alone a jerk!
google avatar

Ryan B.

Yelp
New to the area and this was the first bar I came to too watch the cowboys game. So far great service and good vibes

Tim T.

Yelp
Great vibe, smells like farts. Cool place with lots of seating and good music. Stinky.

Yelp
I had a really good experience at this place. Which is actually pretty surprising. I believe some of the hostas are a little obnoxious, and snobby. One of my friends simply asked her how do we get a table and all she did was point to the people that were in front of the cash register, like you couldn't have said that nicely, very poor customer service on her part. However once we were able to get a table, a nice waitress walked us to our table, she literally gave us all of what we ordered in a timely manner, our food came out on time and actually kind of fast. The waitress periodically checked up on us even though it was pretty packed that night. Right now they are all wearing mask, if you were sitting down at a table you can take your mask off, if you walk around or decide to play a game, you need to wear your mask. They do enforce masks so that's great. Some of the waitresses are a little snobby, so get ready for them to get in your face about anything. This is a good place to go to play games, have a few drinks, nothing here is expensive at all, it's pretty affordable. For the food and the drinks, and a table for a party of more than six, I think our tab was 300. Which is pretty good for a pretty casual bar in Dallas. This place is casual, you don't have to dress up, just make sure you have your mask ready. Parking sucks though.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
This was a really chill environment had games to play we opted for beer pong! Was really entertaining for the birthday crowd we had on a Saturday. Drink prices were decent pretty much the norm for Deep Ellum area on the weekend! Food info: Food was actually really great I had the waffle poutine fries had brisket bacon and cheese curds delish! There hotdog was awesome as well served with a slice of watermelon.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
This spot was a great place to go to drink and kick it. We went for happy hour. It wasn't crowded at all. By the time we left the line was around the corner. We didn't try any food but the drinks was great. We had cocktails, Vegas Bombs, Green Teas, and a bunch of other random drinks. Service was great... Happy hour included good drinks with great prices... And this place definitely keep you entertained with the Dj and drinks.
google avatar

Shenell E.

Yelp
I'm not 100% ready for a football game until I have an order of wings and fries in front of me and Backyard is the perfect place to get both. Just place your order at the bar and head to your table for kick off. Before you know it you'll be rooting for your team to make a touch down in between stuffing your face with piping hot fries and saucy wings! Their venue is set up like an backyard, and definitely gets warm in the summer time. They have a ton of picnic style tables and tvs all over the venue, but make sure you get there early to get a good spot. Pro-Tip: Dog friendly bar!
google avatar

Rick B.

Yelp
Great pavilion-style music venue and bar to eat, drink, and play in! Right behind Bottled Blonde; same side parking lot (don't forget to pay - they tow). Good food centers on burgers and finger food. Well-stocked bar for all your drink needs (Rockstar Energy drinks available). Friendly staff; if you get a table, they will attentively wait on you. Of course; if you stand up and walk around, you will need to order drinks at the bar. Clean restrooms, variety of seating choices, and a fun vibe - WE HAD FUN!! We already like Bottled Blonde, but this is even more fun! We'll be here again!

Robert S.

Yelp
Fun place, decent food and decent service. However... I parked in what appeared to be a public lot directly across from backyard's front door and used the parking app but somehow got an $87 parking fine from "parking revenue recovery services." so this is NOT a public parking lot. I have tried to reach them to explain that I paid through an app using the signs on the lot. Have gotten zero response. So now I have to pay it or they will report it to the credit bureaus! I can't be the only one this is happening to. Seems like backyard would be concerned about this and would either work something out with this shyster parking company, or provide warnings and directives on their customers' parking.
google avatar

Briana M.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. We came for a Sunday afternoon game day and it was an interesting vibe to say the least. To be fair, it was definitely trying to be fun and I think if you were with a bigger group, it would have been funner but definitely an awkward spot for small parties. The food was meh, and got cold very quickly as where we were sitting was absolutely freezing. The service was also absolutely horrendous, it took us probably 45 minutes to be waited on - after literally going to the bar and just getting drinks there. Definitely more of a clubby vibe and will not be back!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
I really hate to leave bad reviews but I know nothing will change unless someone says something. We came here for a private event as the company rented out the entire venue. We were one of the first 20 people and right from the very beginning I could tell there was a lack of management. I asked the front desk if the kitchen was open and they had to ask someone else. Then we sat down at a table and they said someone would come over but no one ever did. (There were less than 20 people inside before it got busy) Another woman came to check on us and apologized for the slow service. We ordered food and drinks with her and the food made it out before the drinks did (weird) but okay I understand with covid and everything going on maybe they didnt have their "A team" working I ordered a margarita and they do not know how to make drinks. A margarita is triple sec, tequila and lime. I don't know why there was seltzer water. Strange. My drink was almost clear (way too much triple sec) Food was very poor quality, bar food, not worth the price you pay. Patty melt was overcooked well done and the poutine was weird..had fried cheese curls. Definitely not a legitimate poutine. 2nd round decided to walk to the bar and try ordering a margarita from a different bartender. The bartenders dont know how to make drinks. You could tell they are not properly trained. She was nice but poured equal parts of triple sec and tequila and finished it with soda water. Disgusting. I couldn't even finish it. I was happy I didnt spend any money and used the drink tickets on it. Music WAY too loud you cant hear anything!! Overall the spot has potential but definitely needs more present management and re-training. Bartenders pours were WAY OFF and definitely wasting money. To the owner/manager: I watched so much liquor be over-poured if this was my bar every bartender would be fired. Owner/management needs to: 1) train bartenders how to pour, 2) simplify the food menu, focus on making a few good quality items 3) turn down the volume a little so people can actually have a conversation(especially since this was a private event) We left after using our drink tickets. And will not return

Yelp
Great time, Had a blast playing arcade games and cornhole and watching people ride the mechanical Bull. Highly recommended if your in the area. Age seemed to be around 25+
google avatar

Julie h.

Yelp
Super chill, dog friendly spot. We came here for a few drinks Sunday. Of course Dallas was playing so the place was packed!! It seems to be a spacious spot but wow was it crowded. I loved how many people brought their dogs to hang, while others popped bottles, and played games. They have corn hole, basketball arcade game, jenga and checkers. I'd totally come back. From the only person that wasn't wearing a Dallas jersey on Sunday
google avatar

Fernando S.

Yelp
Food quality isn't great, wait is long, and the drinks aren't made with love. The hostess is MIA, at least in spirit, when you arrive, so plan for mild but attitude abundant confusion. They have plenty of TVs for game nights so they have that going for them. :)
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
If I could give this place negative stars I would I have never been to place that charges a venue fee for nothing and gratuity for over $150 when the manager got involved and I asked were is it on your website he explained it's not and so I asked again how can you charge something that's not advertised he explained he could charge gratuity on anything he wanted when he realized the conversation wasn't going the way he wanted he had his security get up in a aggressive manner when I ask what are they doing up his reply are they threatening you I explained yes because I didn't like the intimidating manner they got up he proceeded to kick me and my wife and her friend out because we challenged the system

Deepa S.

Yelp
I guess they're deleting bad reviews now. I went with some friends last weekend and we were pushed out due to a miscommunication. My friend was basically jumped by 3 bouncers who tore his shirt and left him with multiple injuries. Also if you go down this list on Yelp, there will be many others that agree. Sooo cool place to go if you like getting harassed by bouncers with no questions asked.

Teodolo S.

Yelp
Had a great time! always great place, came with my best friends definitely recommended for a good chill time!! TJ in the entrance was great treat me like home!!

Yelp
Instant bond with our server Carly - so much so that we left and decided to come back because the vibe was great as were the food and drink. For a busy Friday night we had some excellent service. In a potentially pretentious location the service was genuine and attentive. I tried the frozen mule (YUM - almost too good I drank it so quickly), and their large blueberry lavender mojito (Double Downer) - super tasty and I sipped it slowly enough to last! The WINGS!!!! I was really surprised their "bar menu" delivered. I legitimately couldn't put the wings down and I didn't even order them - I embarrassingly stole them from my friend's plate all night (worth it). This place is large, spacious and I think beyond the service the music was my favorite part. Super solid playlist - all the 90s, 00s, current goodies you want to hear while enjoying a drink. Lots of games to enjoy as well. I definitely recommend coming early though because it gets CROWDED. Pro tip: covered patio for doggos on rainy days!

Yelp
Great social gathering spot!! Good music, good food, and great drinks! Corn hole, beer pong, large Jenga, & merge connect four!
google avatar

Yelp
Not a bad Wednesday night. Games are free and appetizers a half off. They charge you for ranch that you're going to have with your wings. Kind of ridiculous. Processing fee? What in the ....
google avatar

Renee' A.

Yelp
Sooooo I don't really go around large crowds or "club" style places. This is the first time in a long time. Came here with some friends, that have been here before. It was super fun!! It's wide open not everyone is around you. Large fans going, live DJ!!! Though you're not going to get any rock music if you ask...more of rave kinda music. Played corn hole though you have to give your license and $1 to play. Which was fine with me. The drinks were great!! If I was going to go out on a night I would come to this place again. Good vibes!!

Brian Q.

Yelp
Update: 3/9/18. I came back with a big group for a Thursday happy hour and it was fun! The place had a decent size crowd this time but I'm glad it wasn't full because it allowed us to play connect four, shuffleboard, cornhole, and air hockey. There was also a special painting class going on that night which was fun to watch. Microbrew beers are $7 for a pint or $14 for a big 35oz mug. (No specials for HH) I still haven't tried the food but I'm going to upgrade my rating to 4-stars for the happy hour fun factor. There's a valet parking lot adjacent. Backyard is a casual bar and grill next to Bottled Blonde. I came with a group of friends after we decided we were not going to wait in line to get in next door. It's a huge place with fire pits, couches, TVs, and many games: cornhole (bags) setup on artificial turf, table tennis, and billiards. The place was mostly empty on a Friday night but it has a lot of potential if the food/service is decent and they can attract a good crowd. It was 1am so we only had one beer and left. I'd come back and try it again if parking isn't painful. 3-stars until I can experience it further.

This is an outdoor bar but inside ! Rain or shine, you can come to Backyard and have an entire picnic setting with a full bar a few feet away. This bar is dog friendly, so your pups can join in all the fun! There is turf grass for them to play on (they need to be leashes though). If the dogs are off the leash or too aggressive , they will he asked to leave. There are several games to play! Corn hole, air hockey, a huge jinga set, ping pong and more. There are picnic tables for you to sit but also leather couches if you are throwing a party! This place is great for groups celebrating any occasions. On Wednesday night, it is 1/2 whiskey night. I brought my pup and a few friends and watched the game on one of their multiple massive screen TVs.
