Fort Lauderdale’s Most Festive Bars for the Winter | Eater

"Get over here for cheap drinks and no chill. If you want to be surrounded by a thousand hula-hooping, shiny-faced, dancing-on-bars strangers in a 15,000-square-foot multilevel outdoor bar/deck party, then heeyyy, this is the place. The BACARDÍ-exclusive cocktail to order: the Rum and COAL-a Order up the exclusive BACARDÍ cocktail behind the bar, the Rum and COAL-a. It’s a jazzed up rum and coke made with BACARDÍ Superior Rum and spiced rums, Cherry Coke, lime juice, and a cherry garnish — Santa’s coal not included." - Vox Creative

This spot has always been a wish-wash location for me. The music on Friday, April 18th, 2025, was on point! However, the service was short of inviting or decent (lot of macho male vibes from the two guys that I got a drink from.... and I'm talking about Sprite and asking for 3 refills. Even while tipping each time, one of the guys seemed to be annoyed with me asking for refills. Anyhow, the venue itself is nostalgic to me, and I love the semi-open roof setting with the overhead awning. The stage, lighting, speakers, and DJ were all badass.... this place just needs more friendly and engaging bartenders.... the two dudes who were serving drinks would be better being garbage men with their attitude and dog shit "bartending" abilities. Whoever owns this joint now, I feel you have incredible potential (especially with this location and tourism), but you have some major in-house cleaning to do. Customer service is key within your industry. I have no comment on the food as I did not eat.

Gives day party vibes but for the younger crowd. Dj was good, brunch all you can eat buffet style food selection was nice.

Lovely spot, cute decor, and the drinks are delicious 😋 The staff is really friendly ad welcoming too. The food was good. I attended the mimosafest with my girlfriends and we enjoyed it very much. Great for pics too. Location is great, several other stablishments within walking distance. You have to pay for parking by meter/hourly cost. Venue has cool art and photo backdrop... it's outdoors so it's hot but fans and tent all around. Nice big stage too with great music and DJ also.

This place is always the joint. All parties have never dissatisfied. The Sunday brunch is the bomb and cannot be duplicated. You must get out there this spring break and any given Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. The food is good, plentiful, and all you can eat. Enjoy and leave me a thank you right here.

There is a phase in life when you're too old to be out at 2 a.m. on most nights of the week, but too young to be in bed at 9. America's Backyard had a soft reopening to transition itself from a bar to an outdoor/indoor restaurant with live music several nights a week. On a Saturday night at 8:30, the band was happily playing covers from the 70s, 80s, and 90s--giving everyone something to rock out on and taking requests long before the end. The food is mostly pizza, but it's good pizza served up personal sized with over 24 varieties (we had the margherita pizza). I was not impressed by the craft beer variety, which could use sprucing up in a South Florida jam-packed with great microbrews (my server suggested Narragansett for lagers and said they had not one sour on tap, bottle, or can). Cocktails are served in plastic cups in this new Covid world and we were seated with a reservation (yes, you need one) on stage right next to the band. My Backyard Lemonade was strong, sour, and a perfect pairing with cheesy pizza. We had a great time and will be back. The Himmarshee District needs a place that's open to families of all types (we brought our 🐕). Indoor and outdoor seating available. All staff wore masks. Plenty of hand sanitizer throughout Backyard. 50% capacity. Management, service, and cleanliness were on point.

I won’t be returning. Service may vary. Service may vary. This was my first time attending Beyond Brunch . I followed the BB Sundays on IG i was excited to finally go. A group of friends and I reserved a picnic table that included two bottles for the 3:30 -6:30 slot . I really don’t like to leave anything less than a 4 star review for a Black-owned or Black managed experience, but the service was very inconsistent and it affected our experience. *You might pay more. You might be more than what is advertised when we arrived. The amount that the final amount that was shared with us was greater than what was publicized on the website *Food lines were inefficient. The line for food was pretty long and inefficient. How did they find a way to have double buffet lines so that I think it runs more quickly and smoothly *Teamwork and communication are lacking. When we went to the host stand to be seated, they thought our party had already been seated and we had to wait for the host, who greeted us at the door, to come and clarify. This took about 15 minutes. *Poor Service. It took almost another 30 minutes for us to receive our drinks. We watched two tables be seated after us, and both of those tables received their drinks before we did. Allergen risk* For some reason when drinks finally came out, they only brought out pineapple juice. Usually two juices are brought out. Someone in our party is allergic to pineapple juice, and we specifically asked for cranberry juice and coke when paying the balance. After sharing this with our server, she never returned with any other juice. There were a couple individuals who were willing to listen and try to find out what was going on, but things were so busy that the communication did not happen. We watched tables next to us be served and catered to, while our table was completely ignored and neglected. *The food was decent. However, the line was so long that going back in was discouraging. Imaging standing in line for 30 minutes while your favorite sings are being played, then your food being cold. The Unlimited food didn’t really feel Unlimited. With this being my first experience and impression I don’t see myself returning. *Word to management. - Please foster teamwork. Service should only depend on which bottle girl you get. - Find a way to make your food lines more efficient (Ex: double the lines, allow people to pass on both side of the table. This is often done at hotel banquets) - Be more transparent about pricing, additional fees included gratuity, etc. Surprises are not fun and can damper the mood.

The atmosphere and the vibe here go unmatched. The friendly staff starts with the door staff and ends with the bartenders. Everyone there wants to make sure you have a good time. You like dancing? They've got you covered with a DJ and a place to dance. Parry games? Yup that too with Jenga, beer pong, and corn hole. Want to just relax and enjoy the night and the vibe around you? DONE! Sit around the palm tree or any of the other tables. My favorite part was hanging out at the bar with the bartenders! I was there celebrating my 40th birthday. There was 8 of us and the bartenders were amazing. Not only did they kill it with the drinks shots but they were so friendly. Special shout-out to Sam and Dillan for making our drinks and making my night amazing. These two made me feel like I was literally at a backyard party and my friends were taking care of me getting my drinks. They had amazing attitudes and were so personable. Thank you Backyard for an amazing night and to those reading this if you are thinking of going here.... Just go and have yourself a good night!!

I liked it the first time I went, but this last time, they stopped me at the door about my slides and told me to go home and change them.. like this suppose to be a backyard vibe, and my slides weren't flip flops or foot slides ( what I like to call them . If you know, you know, ) anywho went home to change them and still had an issue with the slides I wore the first time I came and had no problem getting in... so I had to wait until the promoter came to the front and cleared my slides like really??? I didn't enjoy this visit cause I was watching other people's shoe attire and was like really 😐the whole time.... haven't been back

Yelp
Went for old school Saturdays and we had a great time. All old school hip hop, rnb and reggae. Great vibes. Would definitely go again. They hold it one sat a month. You can buy tix online in advance. There is a parking lot right next to it ot metered parking.

Yelp
One word to describe this place... LIT! I was visiting the Ft. Lauderdale area and a friend invited me and we had a great time! Food was decent, drinks were strong, vibes was on point. Music selection is good as well there was enough variety between dancehall and the Twerkin music lol. They have hookah and bottle service so come prepared to spend but also have a good time!

Yelp
Bouncers have a power trip thought it would be funny to specifically single me out of my friend group to where I was the only one that couldn't get in with no real cause. Actually nonsensical. But showed me who my true friends were when they didn't back me up or threaten to leave also. So thanks I guess for that.

Yelp
Came here last sunday for the BB Brunch event held every Sunday 11 am - late. This is a fun place for sunday brunch if you like hip hop, R&B and Carribean music. Great place to celebrate a birthday for the younger crowd or if you just like to start the day with music, dancing and drinking. There is an indoor and outdoor area. Brunch is $50 pp and it includes a great buffet and unlimited mimosas. This includes the indoor area which has high top tables, a bar, stage with dj, the buffet tables and dessert and air conditioning. To sit outside, you have to buy a bottle for $150 which is not bad but no necessary because them mimosas are strong. The vibes outside are more lit and there's another stage with a dj and hookah smoking. I was impressed with the brunch buffet. There were lots of options, omelet and waffle station, fruit and dessert station, traditional breakfast items and soul food like shrimp and grits, collard greens, lobster mac n cheese. I will definitely return when in the mood to have a good time.

Yelp
This bar is usually a Millenian hangout. It promotes itself as a Spring Break bar and it usually is open only Thursday-Sunday from about 8or 9pm to about 4am...but they were the host bar for the Day of the Dead celebration this year and they opened early for all the related events. The bar has a nice green space, similar to anyone's backyard with picnic benches and high tops around. There are two large bars serving all kinds of beer and cocktails. Large TV screens are always playing some kind of sports programming. We had a great time here with all the decorations and the live music. Fun place.

Yelp
I totally enjoyed myself at the backyard brunch!! Food was really good. They not cheap with the food too. Unlimited drinks end at 3pm so come early to get your drink on. Some bartenders are weak with making the drinks and some are alright. Music is good. There is 2 djs. I don't like how they didn't share with the pass you have to seat in the cut. You can move around but bottle service seats outside. Make sure your ready to pay for parking.

Yelp
SUCH a neat venue, I really appreciate an intimate setting like what you get when visiting "BackYard" Revolution. So it's a bar, but it's BIG, wynwood style you have a beautiful indoor and outdoor stage areas, for concerts merch is sold inside and the "pit" looking stage indoors is closed off ... outdoor stage is where the magic happens! There are several counters for the bar that lines the back of the outdoor venue & a convenient railing is place to the sides which helps shortys like myself to see! My only complains here? I feel the show was oversold, with multiple people passing out from the heat from the crowd (not the elements) before the show even started. This means that again, short concert goes like me stand no chance, we only see half the show because of the magnitude of arms and phones raised... simply a few less tickets would have solved the crowding as there was also a lovely upper balcony to view the show from aswell. Additionally, Ashnikko herself felt the stage was poorly constructed so much so I have video of her calling this out multiple times. Nails, splinters and an uneven deck is truly NOT SAFE especially for such an energetic performer who uses the entire space and floor. Those two inconveniences and hazards were really worth the mention because I feel they can make an already FANTASTIC and intimate venue that much more of a memorable SAFE experience which would bring this place great success. I couldn't take a star away though, the architecture and over all layout was WAY TOO COOL, the AC was COLD where it blew, the music was incredible and the ability to be SO close to a performer you adore is irreplaceable! I hope to see more artist like this at the same venue! TIPS: SHOW UP EARLY it's worth it for the view! Park near an exit, the line to get out is absurd! All in all WHATTA VENUE ! 10/10

Yelp
This place has the rudest security ever. Two of my friends walked up to get on stage and right as i'm following behind, the security guard immediately yells in my face and locks the gate. As i'm trying to turn around and walk down the steps, he physically shoves me down hard and I went flying. He could have just politely told me no and also not used physical violence. ridiculous.

Yelp
I have come to this place on 2 occasions, once for the old school R&B night, very mature crowd, great music and drinks, I've also come to their Sunday brunch, vibe was really nice and food was good. Unlimited mimosas was awesome as well. Good service, attentive staff. Nice outdoor space with cute aesthetics

Yelp
OK everyone hold your brunch horses Beyond brunch at Backyard has an unbelievable menu. I was able to come back after over a year and find that they made a few changes but the changes were just improvements. The food is now indoors so that if it rains you're always dry, the live DJs are right up front , they have a guest DJs and they still have wonderful service. They have a great deal and they usually , if you're part of the mailing list, send out a coupon code for half all of the brunch on a Monday with advance purchase. A bunch includes all of the food, music and unlimited mimosas from 11 to 1. You can buy an extended package or purchase a bottle. They have specials running for those as well. It's a fun vibe. We went on 90s day and it was definitely lots of love, uncle Luke came out with his nephew for the throwback party. Great jamz and party. give me a shirt that you got from the kitchen Atreyu why do I have PJs we're going out

Brenna P.

Yelp
I love all the different venues, but the staff is not super friendly and they don't like questions lol. Definitely a space built for large events, but hospitality should always come first.

Kayla F.

Yelp
we paid 90 for no cover w the vip pass specifically for this bar and it was a 50 cover. fun bar but wtf i wasted my money:(

Luis G.

Yelp
The vibe is alright. Just when it starts getting decent and your think it's gonna get better, the DJ decides to to be dumb and put on wack song. Don't recommend because of that. Other than that, I still don't suggest to come here.
google avatar

Andres L.

Yelp
I went for my birthday weekend and it was a lot of fun. I'm surprised at the bad reviews. This place was my fave bar out of all of them on this street. Drinks were good too and the service was on point. Cute place to vibe out.

Yelp
Me and some friends bought our new years event ticket online. I've spent new years here in the past and it's been a great time. This time when we arrived we see a massive line outside. The open bar started at 9 and we wasted about 30 minutes waiting in line to get it. It seems they over sold tickets. Finally we get in and the when we get to the bar it was swarming with people. 2 bartenders per bar knowing how busy they would be is pretty stupid. Also there is no order. We got skipped like 3 times at each bar. Of course the bartenders ignore you when someone comes waving cash in their face even if you were next. It took like 15-20 minutes each time to get our drinks. Probably won't be doing new years here anymore. It seems they just want to secure ticket sales and figure out the crowd later. Very messy and unorganized.

Kathryn W.

Yelp
This places has the rudest bartenders you will ever encounter. My friends and I paid $30 to get in for an "open bar" until 12 at 10:30. The bar tenders refused to serve any of the girls who paid a cover for free drinks and threatened to call security when they weren't served and said they wouldn't "work for free". Maybe don't work a bar that sells open bar service then. Find another bar to work at.

Griffin S.

Yelp
The guy in the outside bar who's hogging the mic needs to save his breath and let the music play...I can only hear "we outside" so many times.

Yelp
Ah backyard. My boyfriend and I loved coming here when it was America's backyard and really wanted to see the new renovations. Backyard still felt like America's backyard but much classier. We are happy with the changes. The pool and dj stand is gone and now they have beautiful artwork and fake grass. Also, kid friendly and dog friendly! We went to watch the heat game and we felt comfortable and safe. You need a reservation to come in and as soon as you do your temperature is taken. After you are sat down, all the tables are very spaced out and I did not feel on top of anyone. All the staff and servers were extremely nice and accommodating. I love the new drink options and the prices are very good. Our drinks were about $6 and pizza was $10. The pizza was okay, we've had better but again we'd gladly come back to watch another game, movie, or band and just have drinks. The white pizza simply tasted like regular cheese pizza with no sauce. We'll be back soon to the Backyard.

Heather C.

Yelp
Really cool place, but I had a bartender who was genuinely the rudest person i've ever encountered in the service industry.
google avatar

Yelp
America's Backyard rebranded and it's the best thing they could have done! Stopped by on soft opening weekend. Very chill, outdoor venue. There is a large amount of tables, and seating areas. Dog and family friendly. At the moment the Only way in is with a reservation limited to 90 minutes. There is a 15 min grace period. You are also required to order at least one item off the menu for the table. Covid measures Included wearing a mask while moving around, the staff also wore masks and gloves. Tried their cheese pizza, it was pretty good! The menu had a nice variety of options, both food and drinks prices are in line with Fort Lauderdale bar prices. Live music was great. The band was playing upbeat tunes, so you can sit down and enjoy the music or watch the game on the projector or one of the many screens around the venue. Go check it out!

Nicole L.

Yelp
Amazing place. Love it here!il go here every weekend and it's so much fun! A great environment and genuinely good people!

Avrie F.

Yelp
Awesome nightclub I had so much fun with my friends. Definelty the place to be in FORT LAUDY!!! Awesome music and dj's everytime I have been! Recommend to anyone!

Shanteria J.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS SO UNORGANIZED AND STUPID . You can order tickets online but you still have to wait in line with everyone else . They just want money they don't care about their customers . I bought tickets ahead of time for 3 people and we all still had to wait in line for 45 minutes . If I could rate 0 stars I would

Yelp
My friends were treated horribly at this establishment - one of them was physically and forcibly removed from a bathroom stall after the two of them attempted to enter together. The bathroom attendant DRAGGED her out with no verbal warning. This is absolutely ridiculous

Meghan G.

Yelp
Don't book party packages here. booked a party package a few months back for my friends bachelorette. I had confirmed everything was all set the week before our booked time. Everything went to garbage the second we showed up. They had planned a hockey watch party that started at 6, and had forgotten about our package. We had to wait outside for 30 minutes while staff scrambled to figure things out, passing us off to different people. Eventually someone brought us to the bar and told us it wasn't her fault, zero party package stuff could happen and they 'didn't know what to tell us' and said I needed to talk to the bartender. the brunette bartender was awful, super rude and told her manager in front of us she didn't want to deal with us since we had open bar and she assumed we weren't tipping. When I asked if we were getting a partial refund due to not getting half of what we paid for, she yelled 'are you aware you're getting an extra hour of open bar?' No, because that's the first time anyone said that. Some guy who said he was the GM came over and apologized and said he would take care of us and he would be back with champagne- never saw him again. Additionally, I've emailed the event booker Jade and she's definitely never going to respond. So I'm leaving this review now to warn other people not to waste their money. Two stars since the blonde bartenders were super nice, bouncer was funny, and we made the most of our time.

Yelp
I was allowed in following my boyfriend. While I went to the restroom I realized my boyfriend was on stage with his friend who was DJing. I waited a few minutes for him to come back and then decided to just go up and tell him I was back. While I was doing so, your security grabbed me, insulted me and belittled me as I cooperatively left and went outside to wait for my boyfriend. I understand I was in an area I shouldn't have been in retrospect but the staff could have handled it better without embarrassing a patron. It's not always spring break.
google avatar

Yelp
When we walked in it was very nice. Very relaxed environment. The staff was amazing! And the DJ was great! It is a buffet style place. The food was ok. I do think that the chicken could've been more flavorful and less dry. It costs $50 for food and $75 for bottomless mimosas. I think the $75 was a rip off. They serve the mimosas in these tiny plastic cups. I had about 6 and it may have equaled about a cup. Ridiculous! Also, Miami is hot. The seating is all outside and they had inadequate cooling systems to keep you comfortable while eating. We sat and sweat our clothes out from doing nothing. It was so hot we barely wanted to get up for food or drink. But the prices we paid was so high, we had to.

Haylee U.

Yelp
Went for a weekend birthday brunch with a breakfast buffet and I enjoyed it! Came with unlimited mimosas for whatever your time reservation was. Loved the crab pasta they had and the waffles. Inside A/C was cool but maintains a club vibe at all hours of the day so it was hard to hear and see (lol). Parked in the parking garage across the street for a flat $5 if arriving before noon.

Yelp
bouncer kicked me out for dancing on a table with my group of girls that i was with ( only told me to get down but not anyone else ) so i got down cooperatively and exited out and the bouncer and i were exchanging a few words but nothing physical i wasnt inciting any violence whatsoever. long story short i said some stupid remark and walked away and as i walked away ( my back turned towards him ) he cheap shotted me in head gave me a black eye and concussion. cop witnessed it and did nothing about it i tried making a report with another officer refused to take a report. so i will now be filing lawsuits against this establishment and the security bouncer and police.

Yelp
Very fun bar!! The bouncers and bar tenders were all polite to us! Would highly recommend if your looking for a fun night

Yelp
so much fun! great atmosphere! best place to go in ft lauderdale had so much fun with friends definitely recommend to everyone!

Yelp
Not a good place to relax with friends. They do not know how to respect anyone without money and are willing to make you feel bad about even walking in there. Do not recommend

Yelp
So I used to frequent America's Backyard when I was in my hay day of partying; it was one of my favorite places for ladies night. The vibe was always great and you couldn't beat the free drinks. When I saw that the South Florida Day of the Dead was hosted here this year due to covid, I figured that's what it was. All the 20 somethings partying and getting wild. To my surprise, there must be new ownership or new management that totally revamped the Backyard, all the way down to the astroturf. There's benches instead of a bar in the middle and there is a food and drink menu. The bartenders were also servers and they were super attentive and friendly. They explained to us that the food menu was more of a pop up and it must change frequently because right now it's a Mediterranean themed pop up. I was happy to see some vegan offerings as well as other items. Since it was Mexican themed yesterday, we were hoping for more of some Tex-Mex items but I opted for the Falafal Wrap instead. I was not disappointed. The wrap was delicious and it came with some really well done fries. My husband ordered the Beef Tacos and really liked them as well. I stole some of his chips which were delicious! We asked for some sriracha and the server brought out some hot chili sauce which was perfect. The entertainment last night was also great. Overall, we both had such a great experience even though covid ruined the whole DOTD parade. This was a great idea to host the event here, the stage was perfect and even though the music was more jazz themed than mariachi or Mexican, it was awesome. We will definitely be back - especially now that it is more family friendly.

Yelp
Flew in for a bachelorette party and found this place that offered us $40/person for all you can drink for 2 hours. Seemed like a good deal so we showed up at 10pm like they suggested and we were the first 9 people in the bar. The bartender was so mean and literally rolled her eyes every time we got a drink. About 20min left in our tab time she would look at her watch to see if our time was up. Not really sure why you would offer this deal here if your staff was not willing to accommodate....

Yelp
I went for drinks and appetizer which they had a better happy hour menu and drink option atmosphere was good right on the strip

Bryan A. M.

Yelp
Terrible bouncers. Told my friends that they needed to be 23 to enter the bar. We're all 21/22. The guys and me were allowed in but, 2 of the girls were denied. When they asked why the bouncer proceeded to scream and yell at them to fuck off and to find another bar to have fun without, giving an explanation or any reasons. Ironically enough they had a metric ton of underage drinkers despite their "23 and up only rule". Terrible environment, service and security.
