"French bistro Baco sends out the best steak tartare in Montevideo. The first international outpost of the famous restaurant by the same name in Santiago, Chile, Montevideo’s Baco is run by Sophie Le Baux — daughter of founder Frédéric — and her Argentinean husband Matías Fasolo. The vibe is similar to the Chilean original: Wine boxes decorate the walls, and handwritten messages to guests are everywhere. Dishes are always well-executed and accompanied by a wide selection of high-end wines by the glass. The creamy bone marrow, steak with bearnaise sauce and pont neuf potatoes, beef bourguignon, and varied selection of cheeses are also worth trying. From the dessert menu, the creme brulee is a must, as is the house-made ice cream. — MB" - Marcela Baruch, Nell McShane Wulfhart

We’re so glad we found Baco Vino y Bistro on Christmas Eve when nearly everywhere else was closed for the holiday. Their wine selection is absolutely fantastic, and while the food was decent overall, there’s some room for improvement, especially with the chicken dish. What truly stood out, however, was the excellent service. The manager and servers worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone had a great time, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere despite the busy holiday. If you’re visiting Punta Carretas and need a reliable place to dine during a holiday, Baco Vino y Bistro is definitely worth a visit!

Attentive service and delicious French cuisine. We were drawn here by their expansive wine list and steak tartare. Luckily, we managed to snag the last order of caviar for the day. When we ran out of blinis, they kindly brought us a fresh, warm batch.

Came here for dinner with a couple of friends, and were unfortunately very very disappointed! Asides from the extremely small and low quality portions of food, most things didn’t even come as described.. We ordered the duck (which with the cost of 1500, came with maybe half a breast.. ridiculous!), the Sea bass (3 little bites, not the filet we were expecting), the steak tartare was just ground up beef, and the Ravioli (which was actually nice seasoned) was so over cooked that it was like eating mashed potatoes.. I would’ve gladly rated it a 1 star, but the Creme brule at the end was tasty :) In short, you don’t get what you paid for. food is mediocre and overpriced, it’s a big restaurant that had next to no atmosphere, service was fair.

We visited there around noon in April, 2023. We used Uber to go there from Montevideo shopping center. We were first group for them. Their foods and wines options were good sense and qualities. We are thinking this restaurant is one of best restaurant in Montevideo.

Amazing place to Be enchanted by their food and wine selection. From their homemade baguette to their perfectly cooked lomo with bearnaise sauce. Love their 15 wine by the glass selection which varies often. Loads of choices. My father in law loves their French onion soup and asks me to visit every time in montevideo.

Google
Best wine list in MVD and the best steak tartare. Also phenomenal is the flan with dulce de leche. And everything else. I think the tartare here is better than at the namesake in Santiago.

Google
Sister restaurant to Baco in Santiago de Chile with much reduced menu, but excellent wine list. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not have on the menu simple French staples like pate and duck. Service was good and quality of dishes we had was good as well.

Very good food and wine. Paradise place for vegetarians. Not easy to escape from meat in Uruguay
