Las Vegas’s 15 Most Classic Dishes | Eater Vegas

"The Double Down Saloon is one of the country’s best dive bars. It’s loud as hell; its sticky floors divided by pool tables and its walls covered in a rippling layer of stickers. Signs on the wall brashly demand “Shut up and drink” and “You puke, you clean.” All that is to say, the bar’s signature drink, Ass Juice, fits right in among the bar’s punk-leaning clientele. The shot is rumored to be the collective bartop spillage of previously poured drinks — and, honestly, it tastes that way." - Janna Karel

Google
Now with two Las Vegas locations, long after franchises debuted in Florida decades ago, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has been serving the Big Island for over forty years with a name that plays homage to burrows that carried Beans down the mountains in the 19th century. Part of “the 9th Island” since 2022 on West Charleston, the menu expanding with time to include specialty Lattes and Breakfast Sandwiches on King’s Hawaiian Rolls, fans of Hawaiian Coffee will find several blends as well as 100% Kona by the cup. Far better sourced than Dutch Bros or Starbucks, a few Koolers and Smoothies a sign of modern times, Cold Brew is smooth with soft acidity and doesn’t dilute thanks to frozen Coffee Ice Cubes while “Twisted Malasada Donuts” served warm are soft, springy and not overly sweet thanks to an abundance of Cinnamon.

Chafton our sever was bad ass ! He was extra extra nice and super cool he made us the best coffee today it was a pleasure waking up with him he was super polite and chill and he also made our day we love this location so if your in the area come see chafton he will treat you like family 10/10 service

Google
First time here was excited to try this bad ass coffee. The window attendant shared some options as a newby I chose hot 3 waves sz medium cost over 6 bucks the drink was hot the flavor average was not blown away by the quality or taste of the specialty drink. Maybe it’s better iced the after taste was wicked like burnt and bitter. Happy I tried unfortunately for me not worth it if that’s the fan fave specialty not positive it can get any better from what I just tried. 2/10 for me.

Time

Google
I ordered the 3 wave coffee, I would’ve liked it without the ice coffee and just regular coffee. I do feel it made the coffee more bitter. I also ordered the big one breakfast sandwich which was amazing. So much flavor, I would’ve never thought to mix pineapple with eggs but man..it’s a game changer. The customer service was sorry to say but bad. She was not too kind and when asked questions the answers were short and not too friendly.

Google
The service was great! The young lady that took my order was very pleasant and patient. The matcha tea was very good and adding coconut pump to it was the move along with the cinnamon twist donut couldn't have been a better combo.

potatochip J.

Google
Very solid coffee!!!! I recommend this place for the quality of their coffee and the fact that they use coffee ice cubes to keep your drink’s flavor from getting diluted. 🤩🙌 I’m a HUGE fan of that concept, I gotta say.

Sommer W.

Google
Came to the location, only one person was working. Service was slow but friendly. We ordered the donuts which are supposed to be served hot but the inside was ice cold. Will not be returning. There are other coffee, places with faster service, and deliver on what day or offer.

Dat A.

Google
Fist of all, to call a donut a malasada just cause it has sugar on it is ridiculous! It does not have the right consistency. It is dry and falls apart, making me choke on the dryness alone. The coffee was 'meh'.

Yelp
I loved the malasagas from Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, and the 100% Kona coffee was brewed to perfection. The beautiful dark chocolate and white chocolate mocha frappé was to die for--so refreshing, just like their coffee coolers. I highly recommend everything here! Next time, I'm coming back for the Hawaiian breakfast sandwich with Spam, barbecue sauce, and pineapple. I can't wait for them to open more locations--hopefully even one in Georgia! For now, the closest one to me is in Myrtle Beach, but it's worth the trip. The whole experience is infused with Hawaiian local aloha, and you can even support them online by purchasing their coffee. Very impressed!

Yelp
Such a good coffee spot, it was worth being 10 minutes late to work for! This is "on my way" to work and I'm venturing to find a new love for coffee shops since the options have been recently dismal, IMO. Close to Summerlin and right off of Charleston the cute teal blue colors make it impossible to miss this place. I ordered a small iced latte, half sweet with macadamia nut syrup and it was the perfect start to my morning. Not sure what their standard milk option is, but I'm assuming it's whole milk. After tip it was $7 but isn't that the standard price of a coffee now unfortunately? The only thing I would change is to add more ice. My latte came out warm which is kinda gross and I do like a lot of ice in my drinks in general, but counted only 4-5 cubes. I need it at LEAST 1/4 full of ice. Didn't realize that the cubes are actual coffee cubes so your drink never gets watered down. The barista was friendly, and i WISH this was in the SW area of town so I'd have the ability to drink their coffee more. 10/10 would come again.

Yelp
First time here! I drive by all the time but we came by after church today. I had the black and white iced coffee and a blueberry scone. Hubby got the three waves coffee and an everything bagel. The coffees were amazing! We loved them! Great flavors and not too sweet! Our pastries were fresh too! Best scone I've ever had! Our service was fantastic! Great guys taking our order and serving us! We enjoyed it. Although it was warm outside, we sat under the picnic tables and enjoyed ourselves! Support local!

Yelp
Because this is always good to mention these days, SUPER affordable! Tried their bacon, egg, and cheddar along with a maple wave latte and both were on point! The staff was funny and friendly and patient lol while we decided what on the menu to try. Will certainly be back and hope they get a few more spots!

Yelp
This is clearly my opinion let's start off with a pumpkin spice latte. In my opinion I couldn't taste the pumpkin and it was very sweet. Next the banana bread chai was very, very sweet. I wanted to try them both because I was excited. I literally took tea drinks and then I tossed him. These were truly not the best at all. I usually love their drinks, but these I definitely would never get again and would not recommend. Just way too sweet and didn't taste as they were labeled.
google avatar

Yelp
Great coffee. I ordered the three waves, which was delicious (Coconut, Caramel & Macadamia Nut flavors). Extra points for the coffee ice cubes. Even when my iced coffee was melting down on the way home, it still tasted like coffee at the bottom and not like dirty water. That was cool. Also, there were a lot of unique coffee flavors like Iced Raspberry Reef and Ube Cold brew. 4 stars because the service was pretty rough. They got my order wrong twice, forgot to charge me and forgot that I had ordered a second drink. The worker who took my order was arriving late and trying to communicate with her supervisor why she was late and missed most of what I was saying. In the end, we got it all sorted out, but took way longer than it should and was just frustrating all around. I would still try them again in the future though.

Yelp
Bad ass coffee of Hawaii is a drive through/ walk up coffee shop that serves authentic 100% Kona coffee which is quite hard to find unless you are on the island. The 100% Kona coffee takes 5-7 minutes to brew so keep that in mind. What excited me most about visiting was the Malasadas. I'm obsessed with malasadas and the only time I get them is when I'm on the islands. What we ordered: - 100 Kona medium coffee - Twisted malasadas (one order comes with 2) - The aloha breakfast sandwich (ham, egg, swiss, pineapple, BBQ) - Bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich The malasadas were unfortunately very disappointing. They tasted as if they were previously frozen and the appearance left a lot to be desired. Additionally, both breakfast sandwiches were much smaller than I was expecting and also looked unappealing, however, they did taste good. Service was quick and friendly and they offered a generous 25% off for military, nurses, and students.

Yelp
I've been to this place 3 times. 1st time was a great experience. The person that waited on me was so friendly and helpful. I got the Mai Tai kick. Absolutely delicious. I later realized it had dairy. I'm not a dairy person. Still delicious. Not what I expected when mixing orange and coffee. BA knew what they were doing with this. My second visit was a terrible experience. A young man with Dark hair waited on me and had terrible customer service. I am not sure his name but possibly was Chaftin (The Manager) I ordered the Mai Tai Latte but forgot to mention to get coconut milk instead. When I got to the window It took a while for him to come to the window. When he got to the window I asked if he had already made (bc if he hadn't I was going to ask.) He said that he had so I said ok and didn't say anything after that. He then said " Do you not want it then?" I told him I still wanted it and paid. When I got my drink, it was warm and stayed warm even after the ice melted bc there wasn't enough ice to cool off the shots. The drink was very mediocre. Today I went back to try one more time. The guys who waited on me today was the best! He had great customer service, helped me through my order and was overall a great experience. His name was Eric. I ordered a LG Mai Tai latte with extra orange. He made sure my drink was cold and asked me to taste it before I left to make sure I was happy with it. He deserves all the accolades bc his customer service is on point. Drink was so good. I will be coming back entirely bc Eric was great!

Yelp
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is a total gem! I had the Three Waves Iced Big Kahuna and the bacon, egg & cheddar sandwich--both were absolutely delicious. The drink was perfectly balanced and smooth, and the sandwich hit the spot. But the real showstopper? The coffee ice cubes. Unreal! Such a genius touch that kept my drink flavorful to the last sip. Super friendly service. This spot is definitely going into my regular rotation!
google avatar

Yelp
recently visited Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii at 6150 W Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas and was thoroughly impressed! I ordered the Bad Ass One sandwich, which features Spam, egg, Swiss cheese, pineapple, and a BBQ drizzle, all served on King's Hawaiian® sweet bread. The combination of sweet and savory flavors was delightful, and the sandwich was both hearty and satisfying. To complement the meal, I chose the Big Kahuna Monkey Mocha--a rich blend of dark chocolate and banana flavors. The drink was smooth, indulgent, and perfectly balanced, making it a standout choice. The staff were friendly and efficient, enhancing the overall experience. The Hawaiian-inspired decor and laid-back atmosphere added to the charm of the place. Whether you're in the mood for a unique coffee concoction or a flavorful breakfast sandwich, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii delivers on both fronts. I highly recommend stopping by to experience their delicious offerings and warm hospitality.

Yelp
Today I decided to get a coffee and I got a piña colada oat milk shaken espresso. The coffee and fruity flavors made espresso something a lot different than others. I have yet to try other things on the menu, but this has to be one of my favorites thus far. The service was great and Homie and the ambience was a grabbing Go coffee shop
google avatar

Leena T.

Yelp
Yummy walk up coffee shop located close to CSN! I got the pumpkin latte and it was great. I don't like when coffee is unbearably sweet and this was perfect. Great fast service Will definitely be back when I'm in the area 10/10
google avatar

Yelp
Its a hit or miss depending on who makes it . Sometimes its really good and sometimes its not that great. But the workers are always nice .
google avatar

Keith F.

Yelp
This is a walk up place that serves some pretty tasty coffee! I had the white chocolate flavored iced coffee. As many other reviews mention, the ice cubes are made from coffee which keeps the flavor and overall coffee taste strong for the entire cup. The price is similar to other big chain coffee places. The surrounding parking lot is a little grimy but it wouldn't necessarily stop me from coming back.
google avatar

Sarin P.

Yelp
One of my coworkers had recommended this spot and I decided to drop it during my lunch break for a caffeine kick. I think my favorite part of the drive thru experience was the barista wishing me a bad ass day. Needed that encouragement! Their menu has a lot to offer. I ordered the iced beach bliss, which has flavors of white chocolate and macadamia. It's definitely on the sweeter side but tasty. I love the fact that their ice cubes are actually coffee based versus water. Genius! Looking forward to trying other items from the menu. They serve breakfast and some pastries as well
google avatar

Savi C.

Yelp
This is my ABSOLUTELY favorite coffee shop in vegas!! It's a bit out of the way for me so I am hoping and praying they build way more locations in vegas! They also need more in Hawaii lol I went to Hawaii and wanted some badass bit I was in Honolulu ... my go to is the turtle kick and they have the best mosoladas I've ever had even in Honolulu.... their ice is even made of coffee... the staff is super friendly and I believe every Friday they do free gifts for pets like they gave us Frisbees, bandanas and stickers for us hoomans... I would totally give up starbucks if there was one closer to me on the southwest side... but totally worth the drive
google avatar

Geralyn R.

Yelp
Super fast and friendly service despite the worker being the only one there on a Saturday afternoon. I got the "monkey mocha" which wasn't super sweet like I thought it would be. A lot of dark chocolate flavor. I would definitely get it again. My girlfriend did say her iced matcha was a little too sweet for her. We also got the twisted malasada donuts. They were piping hot, but a little dry on the inside. Would come back, especially since they have a drive thru. What other coffee spots have. Drive thru that isn't DB or Starbs?
google avatar

Caitleen N.

Yelp
A new fave! It's a cute little walk-up with a drive-thru that is conveniently located by my school -- perfect for when I need a coffee or want a breakfast sandwich (love the Bad Ass Sandwich). I've tried the Beach Bliss, Monkey, Mocha, and Three Waves, and I have not been disappointed! Service is always quick and easy, and there's always enough parking around the area.
google avatar

Liz L.

Yelp
The service was not great but the staff member I feel did try. I just wanted a hot mocha with no white chocolate and it took explaining this 3 times to get my order. I just feel there was miscommunication. The drink was fine, I would try them again. I would try their Americano next time.

Crystal V.

Yelp
If you ever need a cup of REAL coffee come to BAD ASS COFFEE!!! Always hits the spot! Caramel Wave is my favorite but today I tried something new The Dirty Pumpkin Chai (Hot) and oh my it's super delicious!! I need to go back for another ! Shout to Workers this morning what a great Vibe !!!
google avatar

Tara H.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place and they have some of the best iced coffee I've ever had! What makes them different is their coffee ice cubes that do not water down your drink! This place is a must try!
google avatar

Joyce B.

Yelp
This is strictly a walk up coffee place, so I was at the window to order my small latte. I used my card and was told just to sign the touch screen. I'm short and the screen was angled funny and was very dark...I could barely see where to sign. Well imagine my surprise when I saw my small latte was over $6! I asked the guy there and he said it was because I had tipped $2 for my coffee! I explained that I didn't even see the screen where a tip was indicated, but all he did was give me the paper receipt. The coffee was good (I had it on Kona before) but I won't be returning!

Jose C.

Yelp
The location is out of my way but I was in the area and in need of coffee. Drive thru was quick and efficient and coffee was good
google avatar

Noemi H.

Yelp
Service was phenomenal! Coffee was bad ass I got the beach bliss (hot) and my husband got it (iced) Even got a sticker! Ice cubes were coffee ice cubes. Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
There coffee is ono ! Sooo good im from hawaii and i had to check them out. Prices are great they got alot of stuff to choose from ! Definitely recommend 5/5

Yelp
I recently went to Bad Ass Coffee and had a mostly positive experience. It's drive thru only, but I had plenty of time to look at the menu since there weren't many people in line when I went. I was going to get the 100% Kona, but they don't offer it iced, so I went with the 10% Kona instead. The coffees pretty good and the ice is also made of coffee instead of water, so it doesn't dilute the drinks. The orange mango smoothie was really sweet, reminding me of an orange creamsicle. In terms of the location, it's not a very good spot. There were a few homeless people behind the building right when I was trying to exit the drive thru, and it takes time to get onto the road, but it's hard to control those two factors. Overall, pretty good drinks, but not sure if I'd come back just because it's personally a bit far for me for just coffee.
google avatar

Gerry W.

Yelp
Kudos to Chafton & Tony for providing great Kona coffee and tasty donuts at Autofest 2024 .
google avatar

Al N.

Yelp
Stopped for some grinds and java. Aloha Spirit on point. The sausage sandwich with egg was just the right way for a Monday starting then some Kona with coconut sweet. Wish it was closer to home and I'd be there daily
google avatar

Alicia N.

Yelp
This is a small coffee shop that is a gem! Drive slow or else you will miss it. I was looking for a good coffee place to have something different! The coffee and blended drinks are so delicious. There are different flavors and concoctions that you can try out. I always get the raspberry mocha. They must use crushed ice because the ice blended coffee is like drinking , the texture of a marshmallow. Employees are always very kind and they make sure to offer any suggestions if asked. I must try coffee shop!
google avatar

Kismet H.

Yelp
Just shy of $7 and ive been cheated a couple ounces. The cup felt super light when they handed to me. I really simile how inconsistent they are, very hit or miss in the flavor and quality of the drink. I wouldn't recommend!
google avatar

Treshia M.

Yelp
This business has been a coffee place I want to try for a while and I'm glad I got to try this place. It's a pretty simple service, either you go through drive thru or you park and go up to their window. Their menu has alot of items that seem overwhelming on what to try so I was sitting at the drive thru menu for a minute thinking of what to order. I ordered their Three Waves latte drink, iced. It had a good amount of sweetness and a good flavor, I really like that the ice cubes they put in are actually coffee ice cubes. So if youre running out of the drink, just let the ice cubes melt abit. I also ordered the Bad Ass One sandwich, a pretty good hawaiian inspired sandwich. I thought it would've needed some sauce but the bbq sauce thats on the sandwich is enough. And last, I ordered the Malasada Twisted Donuts. This was a good sweet treat, a good malasada in the shape of a donut is my best way to describe it. A good place to get some coffee and breakfast, pretty fast service where I didn't need to wait long so it's really good for on to go. Definitely a return from me because there are items on the menu I still would like to try. Definitely a place I would reccommend others for a good coffee!
google avatar

Ruby L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place by accident but I'm glad I did! I have yet to try all their lattes but the Kreme de Kona is yummy!
google avatar

Cassandra S.

Yelp
So I tried this coffee spot as I am always on the hunt for a new place to call my favorite. I did like it's a drive thru but the coffee just didn't do it for me. I got some type of iced coffee. Can't remember exact name of coffee I ordered. Not bad just not great.
google avatar

Sally L.

Yelp
My husband liked his coffee. I was a little confused with mine as I ordered an iced drink but there was no ice and then I read the label and they wrote that it was hot. And then it's weird that my hot drink is in this plastic cup ....
google avatar

Austin A.

Yelp
Seriously by far the best Coffee shop in Las Vegas. I went there Wednesday on my way to work, and was greeted in the most friendly way imaginable. It was my first time going to the shop, and i had questions. The guy who greeted me told me his name was Chafton and if i had any questions whatsoever to let him know. He was extremely patient and explained every detail of the menu to me. I have very rarely experienced that kind of customer service in Las Vegas let alone anywhere. Then as i got my drink he went out of his way to ask me about my favorite Baseball team. He told me all about him growing up and playing and how he coaches youth children. Then as i left he gave me a free sticker and said he hopes to see me again soon. I am extremely pleased and will be a returning customer with friends and family!

Liz M.

Yelp
Never tried this place before but I love Hawaii, and I love supporting local businesses- other than that the dark chocolate banana coffee was amazing! The guy was super nice too, I will definitely be making this a weekly stop!

Davie G.

Yelp
Mainly went there to buy the coffee mugs they were selling to benefit the victims of the Lahaina fires, but the wife got a coffee. It was pretty good. We're still using our Love to Maui mugs every day! Aloha

Thomas S.

Yelp
Tried Bad Ass coffee for the first time on my birthday. Wifey's treat. After carefully reviewing the awesome menu we went to the drive through. Ordered and went to the window to pay. Malia was very welcoming and when my wife mentioned a bday discount she took off my whole coffee. Not only was it delicious to start but even better because it was a free one on my birthday. I'll be back for sure. PS wifey loved her coffee too.
google avatar

G B.

Yelp
Delicious cup of Joe! I was visiting from Cali and thought I would give this place a try. Try the beach bliss and my daughter said the matcha was pretty good too.
google avatar

Norm K.

Yelp
I am not usually in this area of town when it's coffee time, but I was yeterday and I took the opportunity to try Bad Ass, the coffee of Hawaii. I skipped the drive thru to order at the window. There were a couple of people waiting for their orders. Cassy (her name was on the sticker on the side of the cup) took my order. After the people in front of me got their drinks my drink was made. There was little wait at all. I ordered my standard drink--4 shots of espresso over ice. I got in the car and took a sip before getting back on Charleston. Very well done. A taste different than what I'm used to. I normally go to the same place every time I get coffee. This is a fairly handy spot. It seems like I'll have to try one of their breakfast sandwiches when I'm in the area.

Vane H.

Yelp
Food and drinks are great. I love how the coffee isn't too sweet and is very strong. Staff is sweet and kind. Highly recommend. New fave.
google avatar

Thuy N.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop. I got the beach bliss, it was good but a little too sweet for my taste. My husband got the bad ass mocha. That one was better because it was more on the darker side and not as sweet as the beach bliss. I LOVE LOVE coffee ice cubes. My coffee never got the diluted taste. Will definitely come back when we're in the area.
google avatar

Mallory D.

Yelp
I wish they would put what the ingredients are in the mania. Like what gives you energy and what are the other ingredients besides "watermelon and dragon fruit." The individual that took my order couldn't describe it to me. Either way, it gave me some energy for the remainder of my afternoon. The reef rider (originally called pink drink) had a good taste and was refreshing on this hot afternoon. The drive thru would have been faster expect for the position of it as you exit into the main road which was busy.
google avatar

Helaina R.

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming to this location almost everyday for 2 years . Chafton and Ellie show the best customer service. They are ALWAYS a pleasure and they go ABOVE and BEYOND every single time. Lately, it hasn't been the same with the customer service... Mahayla seems like she has an attitude any time I ask for a cup of water/ice to go. She mumbles under her breath and says nothing else. I Ignored it until she did the same to my husband. I dread the days she is there because god forbid I have to interact with her. As a loyal customer, I shouldn't feel uncomfortable going to my favorite coffee shop bc of someone's bad attitude. EDIT* The former manager is no longer there and service is back to normal and wonderful!

Yelp
I finally made it to try Bad Ass Coffee with my daughter-in-law who is a Dutch Bros addict. I personally think they are way too sweet. I have ordered 100% Kona Coffee Beans and 100% Ka'u Coffee Beans from Big Island Roasters to make at home , but I wanted to try somewhere that actually makes it here in town and probably makes it better than me. I downloaded the app for the free medium sized coffee. The young lady that took my order at the walk up window was very nice and we each got a sticker. I got the Mocha Kick Koffee Kooler with added Coconut and The Bad Ass One Breakfast Sandwich ( Spam, Pineapple, Egg, Swiss Cheese, and Bbq Drizzle ). My daughter-in-law got the Turtle Kick Koffee Kooler ( White and Dark Chocolate, Caramel, Macadamia Nut ) and a Turkey, Bacon, and Cheddar on King's Hawaiian Bread. We both agreed that we liked my Mocha Kick and Bad Ass One Breakfast Sandwich better than her Turtle Kick and Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar Sandwich. Hers were good too, but mine were both better. I will come back again to try the hot coffees like the 100% Kona and the Peaberry. It was nice to sit outside. They have 2 tables with umbrellas. Luckily today was mild and not the usual 90+ degree weather. They do have a drive thru, but it comes out directly onto West Charleston which some may not like. The parking lot is small and shared with other businesses in the plaza, but they do have a couple designated for them beside the business. I would recommend checking them out. They are priced a little cheaper than Dutch Bros and a little more than Starbucks. I only go to Starbucks like twice a year for the Peppermint Mocha Frap. I don't like their hot coffee.
google avatar

Tom Y.

Yelp
Boy, oh boy! These ladies know what they're doing. Temperature, aroma, flavor, and service are just right. I'm not usually taking a flavor latte, but this one is good. Awesome. Good job, ladies!
google avatar

Ashley E.

Yelp
New customer here, I was around the area looking for a new coffee place. This place popped up on my maps, saw they had good reviews. I decided to place a mobile order and I got the beach bliss with non fat milk and vanilla cold foam. I like sweet drinks so if you aren't a sweet person, order this half sweet. It was pretty delicious and very good. They also have an app you can download and get rewards and order ahead of time. The area it's located was little rough but it was a cute place. They only have a walk up or a drive thru, no indoor dining but I also saw they had food on the menu as well :) will try next time! If you haven't gone here yet, go! I will be back
google avatar

Denise C.

Yelp
Our second time back here and always yummy this one instead of only coffee we tried the malasadas(donuts), my coffee was amazing per usual! And the donuts were okay, they couldn't be great because it tasted yummy but what ruined it was how greasy it was, it made the donuts itself so soggy.
google avatar

Varryan M.

Yelp
Different flavors than what you are used to. Worth checking out. The breakfast foods are microwaved frozen food but very tasty
