Google
First time here. We came visiting from Brownsville, Texas and it was a fun experience. This was the first time throwing real axes and Kat was a great instructor and she had fun games on hand to play after learning how to throw axes. Would definitely recommend coming here. The atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly and funny!

Jeanette Peterson

Google
Kat was absolutely amazing! She took the time teaching us newbies for first time EVER to learn how to actually throw the axe properly. Great vibes all around. Will definitely be returning. If you haven’t checked out this place, you absolutely should. You won’t be disappointed. Also, if you have any stress, this will help curve the edge. Yes, pun intended.

Chanelle Johnson

Google
KAT was amazing! She was the only working and she did a fantastic job of being available for all the customers. I loved that she stepped in and gave great guidance and assistance to my family. We will be back mainly because of Kat and her customer service!!

Priscilla Lee

Google
Had a great experience!! Although most of us were nervous, Kat helped ease our nerves. She gave really good tips for each of us. Above all, great vibes and fun times!

Jamie Fiedler

Google
Had such a blast here! If you want an amazing experience, 100% request Kat! She was fun, knowledgeable, and definitely heightened the experience!

Google
My family and I had such a great time at Bad Axe Throwing! Our instructor was so kind and informative, he made our experience truly special. From the insightfulness, game opportunities and one-on-one lessons, it was truly a 5 star experience. I can’t remember his name, but look for the cool guy with the even cooler beard 😎

Allyson Woolley

Google
We had a fun time axe throwing. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond making our time fun and accommodating with excellent service. I highly recommend for a fun evening out with friends or family.

Google
Kat is amazing! We loved her and she is an excellent coach! We ride at dawn with axes for Kat!

Yelp
Should update their hours on yelp. Not open at 2pm on Sunday. Looks cool inside. Wish I could have gone.

Makeda R.

Yelp
Tonight, I came with a reservation through AirBNB and it was so much fun. Roux is a very friendly and informative coach! I would definitely come again!

Andrew B.

Yelp
We were here with a group of 5 guys last night for my bachelor party and it was even more fun than I imagined. The staff was great from the moment we walked in. After the safety training and some throwing, they came to give us (extremely helpful) pointers, set up friendly competitions, and showed up cool advanced techniques. I would definitely go back. Amazing and unforgettable experience.

Lara B.

Yelp
This place was so fun! It was Friday night after dinner and it was PACKED. I highly recommend booking ahead for large groups Each lane has an instructor to keep you safe, and to help with the subtle nuances of throwing technique Just a few inches off and your axe won't STICK! It will just bounce off the wood ( I know this all too well... but when that axe sticks... aww yiss Nate knew exactly what each of us needed to do in order to get a prefect throw They have super fun games for the group to play and st the end of our time he showed us some "trick" shots to practice It's BYOB and BYOA(axe) - certain restrictions apply If you are having a bday party and have at least 6 ppl the bday person throws free Wear comfy clothes and expect to be sore the next day That was a workout! I highly recommend Bad Axe for a fun and unique night out!

Mae T.

Yelp
So much fun. Great staff, super friendly, great loud music (got us all pumped lol). Definitely would go again! Canned wine and beer options were awesome!

Mdot M.

Yelp
too expensive for the experience. there were really no people inside. the employee was nice but we didn't really feel like the $30 per person was a good deal. concept is cute but not the ambiance.

Yuki I.

Yelp
Great experience, but maybe with a bigger group next time. It's $25 per person for an hour session. I'd never tried axe throwing, so I wanted to give it a try. Frankly, I'm really bad at it - I have terrible hand-eye coordination. I'd read on other reviews that it was BYOB, but when we brought out our wine, we were told they had stopped being BYOB a year ago. So that was a bit of a disappointment. Otherwise, we had a great time. It did, however, get a tad repetitive for me after the first 15 minutes or so of throwing. Oh well, it was all for the experience, and now I can say I've thrown an axe many times over!

Myrna T.

Yelp
Louis was a great instructor and very thorough with his instructions. I highly recommend because even when there was a big party there he still was very attentive and checked up on us.

Chelsea O.

Yelp
Had a great time here for a company Christmas party! You can bring in your own food and alcohol. They teach you how to do it, so don't worry about that. Wish you could throw more.

Beth G.

Yelp
Omg this place is so fun. I recommend going with a big party because you'll get 2 hours of throw (instead of 1), a trainer, and games. Wear closed toe shoes. You can BYOB. The trainers here are super nice. Music playing during throw was on point. Highly recommend!

Macy W.

Yelp
Had such a great time! This was a first for all of us and Olivia was an excellent coach. Music was loud, so it's not a place I'd recommend if you also want to have real conversations with each other. There's alcohol and you can order food delivery if you're hungry (no food at the actual place). Overall, really good experience.

Kurt Z.

Yelp
I had high expectations going into axe throwing because it just looked so much fun, and this experience exceeded my expectations. Austin was our "guide" and he was AWESOME. Super enthusiastic, easy to talk to, and walked us through everything smoothly. He made it a lot of fun. 2 hours was the timeslot and it was perfect to do practice rounds, 3 competitions, and then just some for fun throws. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

Glen E.

Yelp
Kai was the guy!! Homie. Highly skilled and knowledgeable. Communication was clear, made sure we had fun and stayed safe.

Sarah H.

Yelp
Came in for a double date and was not disappointed! Tori was fabulous at helping us learn the best way to throw, and explained the games well. He even jumped in for the last game which made it that much more competitive. Overall I would absolutely come here. Very laid back, but with enough structure you won't get bored.

Solomon U.

Yelp
The owner of this company was a kind gentleman and was hospitable and is willing to have every and anybody of nationality in his indoor Axe throwing field. He took care of us and treated us fairly. I would love to come back and do business with this Gentleman I. The near by future. If you're not Caucasian be aware, I did notice glares from other customers of Caucasian decent there. But that does not reflect the warm and loving welcome of the owner!

Eric R.

Yelp
Fun experience! Axe throwing mentors really like themselves. Food was decent. Drink selection and bartenders are excellent! Video games a bonus!

John B.

Yelp
Closed when it is supposed to be open, and no notice on business indicating hours or reason.

Katie H.

Yelp
Super bummer experience trying to get in. We only had a group of 3, so we couldn't book a party (they have a 6 person minimum and when I called to see if I could just pay for 6 and only have 3 people I was told 'we don't do that'). We really wanted to book in advance for my husband's birthday small group celebration, but we were told to just find a walk in time and come then. So we walked in during what was listed online as an open walk in time on a Sunday afternoon. We were ready and willing to wait but got told that we couldn't be accommodated because there were other groups with reservations and there were no actual walk in times availabe. Update your website if you can't accommodate walk ins! We wouldn't have even tried had the website not said we could be accomodated. We were then told we could book a walk in reservation online through Trip Advisor but we weren't able to find where it was and the staff were too busy to help us. Clearly, this place doesn't need my money to stay in business because it is very popular, but I won't be back here because I am not going to risk the disappointment again, especially for a birthday weekend.

Adam H.

Yelp
I've been here twice now for two different birthday parties, and had a great time each time. It's BYOB, and you can bring your own food as well. So you can order pizza for your group, and bring a cooler of beer to go with it (no liquor is allowed). Before the party starts an instructor will teach you how to properly throw the axe, as well as all safety rules/requirements. It's basically like playing darts at a bar, but a little more bad ass. Every lane has a dedicated instructor looking out for safety as well as keeping track of teams scores. Customer service was great each time, and when you hit a bulls eye you feel pretty awesome.

Rose L.

Yelp
Our team came here and had a great time! Jimi is an awesome coach providing important tips with humor in a fun and safe atmosphere! Such a great experience and team building opportunity.

Anna B.

Yelp
So much fun! Jesus was a great instructor and even structured different scoring games to play throughout our time slot to keep things interesting. TIPS: it's BYOB and you can bring your own food! Walk-ins have certain time slots so make sure you check those slots...I would call day of and check availability in case big groups have booked the place. Overall great experience.

Danielle A.

Yelp
Chris is great! This review is from over the summer but for some reason it did not post. Had a fantastic time, will be back!

Amy B.

Yelp
I was able to try out Bad Axe Throwing courtesy of a group I'm a part of, and was super jazzed to try my hand. The group I went with was able to bring in their own catering, and I saw another small group next to us with their own alcoholic drinks. I'm not positive of the rules, but seems like it's BYOB/BYO...F? The initial training was done well, but it really just comes down to practice and taking in feedback from the instructors assigned to your group. The main reason I didn't have a great time was due to our female instructor who was way more interested in throwing the axes herself and giving the absolute opposite instructions/advice than the guy who seemed to be running the place. Things like hand placement, wrist motion, and general posture was not what we were initially told to do. I figured there's just a million ways to get a good throw, but when every group except ours was doing well, I was pretty sad and confused. As the time passed, she ended up trying to show off to us by doing trick shots that were absolutely not placed well and would almost hit the ceiling and also the chain link dividers between the lanes - not very professional at all. I would recommend you try this place at least once, but I hope you get a better staff member! I believe they have groupons available quite often, so check out that site first.

Jordan C.

Yelp
I HAD AN AMAZING TIME!! So so much fun, I didn't have an appointment but was only waiting about 10 or so minutes before my friend and I were placed with a group. The coach was quick and to the point with rules and safety instructions. He demonstrated how to throw an axe and then let us at it! It was absolutely one of the best things I did in Dallas; an entire hour of axe throwing just isn't enough. Will go again and will bring more people. P.S. it is BYOB so... CHEERS!

Alicia M.

Yelp
We had SO MUCH FUN! I surprised my husband and took him here for his birthday. I figured I'd be watching more than throwing. I was wrong! Our instructor was very hands-on. By the time we left, I could confidently throw an axe and even sometimes hit the bullseye! It was so much fun and we've been talking about it days later. It was so unique and we already want to go back! Great service, awesome venue, great EVERYTHING.

Paul M.

Yelp
I'm really looking forward to going back in the near future. It was the perfect place for my Tinder date and I to meet up at. The atmosphere is vibrant and the staff is top notch!

Trey F.

Yelp
Get Ready-You Will Be Addicted. As soon as the instructors show you the basics, and are sure that you're safe and not being crazy with the axes....thats when the fun begins. . . I had no idea there were weird trick throws?? Anyways-a super fun afternoon for a large group-brought pizza and beer and threw some axes. Totally a great way to shake it up and try something different!

Margarita M.

Yelp
My work had a team outting at Bad Axe Throwing and we had a blast. It was a great team building experience. I was weary of axe throwing (I'm just over cautious of anything) but Jesus provided us with great instructors and kept us safe.

Twinkle L.

Yelp
Fun for groups! We made reservations online and the in-person check-in process was fairly quick & painless. Clear instructions from the friendly, knowledgeable coach (Tina) on both safety & technique; the coach also guided our group through some fun competitive games. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Facilities are decidedly bare-bones but more than adequate for large parties: there was a mini-fridge, large hi-top tables with stools, and picnic tables for each axe-throwing bay. The facility is BYOB so we brought in two large coolers and snacks. Recommend bringing your own drinks (even water) as they don't have anything available on-premise but there are convenience stores nearby. They also can lend a Bluetooth-enabled speaker for your own tunes, and there are other games in the building if axe-throwing doesn't suit your fancy (corn hole, over-sized Jenga and Connect-4). Parking can be challenging in this area so carpool if you can.

Yvette B.

Yelp
It was so fun! The instructor definitely added to the experience with his good music selection and down to earth personality. The games were a nice addition as well. Really had a good time

Mickey A.

Yelp
Great experience , I highly recommend this place , Jesus I think he is the manager , gave us great customer service , we really enjoyed our time. We will definitely will go back and will definitely recommend it to anyone

Ross S.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and go to Class Axe in Richardson instead. I've been axe throwing 10 times at various places and this is the first time I've ever had a bad experience.

Andrew S.

Yelp
Great place for team events, had a good amount of time for the different games. Jesus was a really good instructor.

Emily A.

Yelp
I have tried to make reservations here are a couple of times and I have also gone early to try and get a walk in time. Each time I was never able to get a spot. It's really unfortunate that they do not make it easier to make reservations or come during a certain period of time. Basically they just have a five hour window of when you can walk in and you may or may not get a spot... I'm really disappointed and I hope they change their scheduling soon.

Crawford J.

Yelp
Went for my wife's birthday and we had an absolute blast. Christopher was a great host and made it a lot of fun. We will definitely be going back!

Bailee K.

Yelp
This place was so fun with the best staff! We had a group of ten and our coach ( I can't remember his name but he's from Puerto Rico) was wonderful! He was so thorough in trying to teach us how to properly throw and the best angles and had the nest games for us to play against each other!! We definitely recommend this place! So much fun!

Barbara V.

Yelp
We went for my friend's birthday. Most of us had not gone axe throwing before. One of the staff members was assigned to us the whole time, which made it more fun because you could actually improve throughout the night. She was so patient and fun! You can also bring your own booze and food. It was a super fun experience. I would definitely come back here!

Gabriel D.

Yelp
This place is awesome! You will feel like a true warrior and Jesus is a great instructor. The satisfying thunk when you sink an axe into the board is unforgettable. May have found my new hobby thanks to BadAxe.

Rebekah R.

Yelp
Could have been more fun if they showed up on time....We booked a group birthday party and the coaches did not get there to even open the doors until an hour after our scheduled time. For paying $40/person for a private group it just put a damper on the day, and they did not seem very apologetic about it. Had a great time once we did get going; however, the canned beer also seemed a little pricey! My tip would just be to call the day before to confirm your time slot.

Megan H.

Yelp
Was looking for a different type of team building event for our group, which also coincided with a birthday - this was a great choice. There's a wide range of athletic skills between us but overall we all had a good time! Jesse (sp?) was our axe coach and spent extra time with those of us who didn't grow up chopping wood and should be considered dangerous with sharp objects. Towards the end of our time, all of us hit a great stride and got competitive - although the byob did help with that too of course. Great time - our only suggestion would be to have cups if you're offering byob option so guests don't need to walk to the Family Dollar to do that. Will definitely be back- thank you to Jesse and the Bad Axe team!

Breanna W.

Yelp
This was such a fun activity for date night! The staff were fun and relaxed while still making sure we were doing things properly. The place is BYOB, which I will utilize next time around! This will be a really cool place for a date, a party, or just a fun stress relief.

Laurie M.

Yelp
We had a great time! Jesus was fantastic! I highly recommend for a group and or team building event!

Allan Thomas K.

Yelp
Sorry to have to review like this. This place was ace when it first opened. $20 odd an hour. Your own lane during walk in. Cool staff, bring your own booze. Now it's just another corporate hellhole like the rest. Share a lane with a bunch of people when you walk in. Now almost 25% more expensive per own. And now you have to buy beer instead of bringing your own. Over $25 for 4 beers. I've been 5 times now. You've lost a customer in me and a bunch more of my friends when I tell them.

Gorgon S.

Yelp
This place is a dud so don't get your hopes up. The restrooms are disgusting...no idea how they pass local code, picnic tables look as if they never get cleaned, same goes for the axe handles. ( a little 409 would go a long way ). The guys running the place could use a reality check and take down the macho routine a few pegs. Literally watched & overheard a half dozen girls complaining about these guys getting too touchy & close, was pretty creepy to watch actually. I've seen this concept in other locations work quite well, this one however looks like it was thrown together at minimal expense. If you go into this place with zero expectations & don't mind weirdos breathing on your neck... you should be fine.

Renee E.

Yelp
We had a group of 11 people and none of us had ever done this before. We had a WONDERFUL coach, Jimi, who was terrific, and while keeping us safe (from each other) also had a great sense of humor. She helped make the evening so much fun. Our two hours seemed to fly by, especially once we all got comfortable with the throwing part which allowed us to get competitive. We will DEFINITELY do it again!

Shirley H.

Yelp
Kyle was so awesome. He was patient with us and so informative. He taught me how to throw an axe by the end of our session. I will definitely be back!

Shannon L.

Yelp
Went for a group event, had a GREAT time! Funny, knowledgeable staff and coaches, they used humor to teach us and give us pointers. Had a blast and will return soon!! Better than darts or bowling! Lots of laughs and no injuries

David L.

Yelp
We had an amazing time here. The staff was friendly and eager to help us learn how to throw the axes correctly. Thanks for the amazing time. I will definitely be returning.
