Ax-Throwing Bars, Explained | Eater

"Started in 2006 by a Torontonian who turned a casual, beer-and-axe pastime into organized venues across Ontario, this league helped popularize indoor ax-throwing in Canada and reports a strong safety record—by 2015 it noted only five or six minor injuries over nine years." - Monica Burton

Huge shoutout to Mace who helped us on 12/13/2025! It was our first time axe throwing, and he made the experience so much fun from the start. He was welcoming, funny, and super encouraging, and he did an awesome job teaching me how to throw an axe with zero judgment. He kept the energy high and made everyone feel comfortable and included. Because of Mace, we had an amazing first experience. He’s a total asset to the team and definitely deserves recognition!

I was taken to Bad Axe by a friend for a birthday celebration. I loved every minute of it. It’s a very fun, addictive activity. There are some reasonable safety precautions that are taken, but the staff lets you experiment with axe throwing as you see fit, offering some helpful advice but also letting you develop your own rhythm. I would recommend that a person bring ear plugs because the banging of axes that don’t hit the target properly can be a bit loud (if you have sensitive ears, like I do). Overall, I highly recommend.

My friend and I had a great time. We got really great service from Mace (a fitting name) who we ended up having a great conversation with as we threw. He was also really helpful in teaching us how to actually hit the target, lol. Highly recommend this place!

First time 🪓 throwing. Great time. Really fun. Loved the atmosphere. Good times! Didn't eat any food but the drinks were good. Would go again. Mace was great. Very friendly and great advice. Just the right amount of involvement to make an amateur like me feel like a pro.

This is the second time we’ve gone for a birthday party and once again it did not disappoint. Luke was a fantastic host, both knowledgeable and funny, and we would love to have him host us again. Thanks so much for both of our experiences! We will definitely be back!

I went here for my birthday and couldn’t be happier. Super friendly and informing service. Mace was our instructor and did a great job showing us how to throw properly. Would definitely recommend!!!

Had such an awesome experience here. We were a group of 5. We had Luke helping us out - 10/10 for Luke! Taught us all how to throw, got us doing trick shots and helped us in the team matches. Great customer service and all over fun time. Throwing the axes gets addicting, especially when you’re competitive. Great group activity. Aaron - should take tips from Luke jk

Yelp
An incredibly good experience. I'm not a fan of this in general (so dangerous!) but it was facilitated really well and definitely a unique idea. Definitely great for groups, a date, or some bonding time. It was 10 am so not sure about what drinks are good or not but...I'm sure they're good enough!

Yelp
Had a good experience here as a company event of ~20 people. I'm not a big fan of ax throwing indoors because it gets loud, safety can be a real concern, and people who don't know how to throw axes may get really frustrated. This experience went pretty well, and the one employee on site did make some effort to assist people for a little bit. Ultimately the company had a good experience, though I wasn't a fan of the actual axes (the grips seemed slippery and the blades were dull) or targets (dull axes would bounce off the areas of the targets that hadn't been hit a few times already) or the relative lack of guidance (multiple times people walked towards their target while the person standing next to them prepared to throw).
