Bad Jimmy's Scottsdale

This place should be called "Freaking Good Jimmy's"! We love the place and come once a week for a burger and soft-serve. The service is always great and the quality is excellent. For those that love a real smash burger, this is the place! A true gem in Scottsdale. Sharing a couple pics of the burgers I had today. Yes, I ate two, fries and soft-serve as well

Solid smash style burgers just off Old Town. Pleasant service, nice setting (like much nicer on the patio when the weather gets nice. Price is a bit high for quick casual burgers, though. Burger was solid. Definitely a small notch above Smashburger, quite similar to Shake Shack (but this sauce is better). Waffle style fries were tasty, but had that sort of spray starch texture on the outside (some folks like that extra crispiness, but not my favorite). Gonna have to try the bar some time.

Came in on their grand opening day! I haven’t been to their original location so this is my first experience overall. It wasn’t busy at lunch time so I was served immediately at the counter. The place is so cute and has a cool retro vibe. The service was incredible, both kind and quick. I ordered the double burger which was delicious. The smashed patties are super flat and crispy, the bun is soft, and the sauce inside is so tasty. Suprisingly the burger was not messy which is always a plus for me. I do wish it had cheddar cheese as I am a big anti-American cheese enthusiast, but I digress. The waffle fries are PERFECTLY COOKED! Crispy on the outside soft on the inside. Almost like a battered vibe, ya know? I didn’t feel sick after eating both so that must means they’re using decent ingridients too. Overall this place is an awesome spot and a great addition to Scottsdale! Highly reccomend and will be returning.

Love this place! Great authentic smash burger with a soft potato bun and some of the best seasoned waffle fries around! Indoor and covered outdoor tables available. Free shared parking lot.

They have been open only 9 days, and it was very busy on a Saturday lunch. But the service was excellent. You order your food, find a seat, and they bring it to you. We did not have to wait very long, and the Classic Smash burgers and waffle fire were delicious! Got a Wren House Porter and a Paloma from their bar. Seating inside is like a classic diner, and they also have a nice covered patio. Great addition to the neighborhood!

Dined at the Downtown Location not too long ago for the first time and loved the burger’s. Come to find out less than a month later they open a location right down the road from my work in Scottsdale. Decided to give the Scottsdale location a try today and was excited to see the same great quality and taste. As well as excellent service. This is my new lunch go-to for work! Can’t wait for next time. Make sure you try the Classic Double!

We have visited bad jimmy’s twice about a year apart once at each location. The burgers & fries were excellent, but definitely on the expensive side $45 for 2 people, and $70 when I paid for 3 (everyone drank FREE water) … As much as I want to love this place and recommend it, it’s hard considering the price.

Nice little hole in the wall in a large parking lot. Plenty of parking. The place is kinda small with very limited inside seating. We got to seat outside and it was shaded with some misters but still hot. The burgers were good, and well flavored. I wish they were a bit larger. What's disappointing is the price of a soft serve ice cream. Seven dollars for a soft serve, in my humble opinion is not okay. Otherwise, I recommend this place for the burgers and fries.

This newer Bad Jimmy's location might be tucked into a quieter corner of an awkward plaza, but it absolutely holds its own charm. While the downtown Phoenix spot has a bit more energy, this Scottsdale location feels calm, clean, and super well-organized. The bar area is especially cute, and the staff here--whether behind the counter or serving--are always friendly and sociable. Honestly, it's one of those places I find myself craving regularly because the food is just that good. Now that it's closer to home, I can see myself coming back often. A great addition to Scottsdale. I didn't take any photos of the food because I got it to go, but it did not disappoint.

My wife and I had read multiple write-ups about the great food at Bad Jimmies and decided to give the Scottsdale location a try on a Friday in August 2025. The photos of their food looked great in the articles! We were very disappointed. Nothing like the pictures. The place was tiny, crowded, chaotic and loud. But we thought ok, if the burger is so great it will be worth it. We started at the bar (I stood) where their drink menu was small and very overpriced ($7 for a can of Modello -no glass - really?) My wife had a very small glass (4 oz we are guessing) of basic California Sauvignon Blanc (in a tumbler no less) for $12. Not even a wine glass for that price? (BTW, we don't live in Scottsdale). So we stood in line at the counter and ordered one of their "Double" burgers ($12) with fries ($5). When the food arrived (they give you a number and then seek you out with your tray of food), we were surprised to find that there was only one beef patty. No condiments in sight - had to go to the counter for plastic wear and packets of condiments. Upon inspection, the smash burger was as flat as a sawblade and had no more meat on it than a McDonalds burger (in my opinion) - just smashed flat. The bun was flat and soggy. Then to boot, the Bartender had zero personality and couldn't have cared less. I must say though the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. So this is one of the best burger establishments in Maricopa County? We think not. We are going to try the others on the list of best burgers in Town (according to the AZ Republic) and are hoping for a better experience. We will not go back to Bad Jimmies - it was Bad.

Really good smash burger... one of the best we've ever had. Will definitely take family and friends here when they are in town. Olive oil and salt ice cream was good but way too salty. Will say light salt next time. This is a great location with a big patio and lots of parking. The music inside was super loud so if you want to have a conversation might be best to sit outside if it's not too hot out.

Great staff very attentive and happy. Location was convenient and small (4 inside tables, bar with 12ish seats and plenty of outdoor seating if it was cooler), darker vibe inside with dim lighting at lunch Fries were fantastic, hot great flavor good crunch They dont have any ice tea options Burger was good. LOVED the crunch on the ends with it being a smash burger. Bun was meh, tasted like a grocery store generic bun.

Was staying in Scottsdale for the weekend to attend the 9th Annual Heroin's Anonymous Convention with a grip of friends. We had a craving for hamburgers and Bad Jimmy's was down the road so we hit it up. The place is really small inside and was packed so we sat outside in the patio area. The burgers are the smashed on the flat grill type (semi crispy on the edges. I got the double burger with fries and it was delicious! It definitely satisfied my craving. On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a great spot, I'd hit it again if I'm in the area and craving a burger:)

Oh man, do I love it when something I've been eyeing, meets expectations and all the hype!! I had high hopes for this spot since I really liked the previous restaurant here- Starlight BBQ. I was sad to see that go, but Bad Jimmy's makes up for it. I read some 1 star reviews saying dry burger, no noticeable cheese, or fries were old with no flavor. If that's what happened to y'all...bummer. I had an awesome meal here. Let's not confuse things, it's pricey IMO. My burger alone was $16. This was a $40+ meal for 2 people, essentially fast food style experience. But goddamn I'll pay that again for food I genuinely enjoyed. I'm someone who consistently lists burgers as a top favorite food. Like, I would have one for a last meal situation. And this burger meets my last meal criteria... Bad Jimmy is a bad, bad man :) The fries were great- perfectly crispy outside and soft inside. Nice seasoning too. I just used ketchup this time but some ranch would be good too. I ordered the green chili burger since it's likely not on the menu all the time, and I've been on a green chili kick lately. But, I'm really glad my man ordered the classic double. I liked his better than mine lol. It was so cheesy and I liked the sauce on that burger. These smash burgers have great seasoning (aka salt) and the lacey burger char on the edges-- SO good. Someone commented they're too salty, I thought just fine. But I eat out regularly and my taste buds are accustomed to higher levels of salt than people who eat bland food, lol. Fun fact-- most home cooks under salt their food and that's why meals cooked at home can sometimes lack flavor or depth. I'm glad we split our burgers so I could try 2 options. Next time I'm going for the classic double or the double with grilled onion. We finished up our meal with some tasty soft serve. I wanted to order a cocktail from the bar, but decided this time to focus on the food and next time I'll come back for a drink. All the staff working were super nice and I will definitely be coming back.

We finally made it to Bad Jimmy's this past Saturday afternoon, right when they opened. I've been hearing great things about this place since their food truck days but hadn't made it out until now. Let me just say: totally worth the wait. I'm a huge burger fan--any kind, any style--but smash burgers are my weakness. And Bad Jimmy's absolutely blew me away. From the music to the decor, the vibe took me straight back to my high school years. The service was top-notch too; everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Now, the food... wow. The menu is simple, but honestly, that was the best burger I've had in my 40-something years of life. My husband and I were already telling the server we couldn't wait to come back and bring the kids. (He recommended trying their wings, which are available Mondays at this location and daily at their Uptown spot--definitely adding that to our list!) And we didn't wait long to return--brought the kids back the very next day! They loved it just as much as we did. A special shoutout to the server: after a long pool day, our 4-year-old was cranky and suddenly picky (no sauce, then no cheese). While I did a little "mom trick" to get her to eat the burger (just flipped it over to hide the cheese), the server still brought out a fresh Lil' John burger at no charge, just to help. Such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. Thanks, Bad Jimmy's, for an epic weekend full of burgers, fries, and great service. We'll be back--probably sooner than we should!

Excellent A+ Service Delicious, juicy Double Smash Patty with American cheese, Not-So-Secret Sauce and pickles Giant, Perfectly Seasoned Crisscut Fries with ketchup & big cup of ranch Mexican Coke Great early dinner after work in SW Scottsdale! Bar, booth, and patio seating in a clean, retro-garage style eatery. 90's is not a throwback for this old broad. Loved the atmosphere and music selection! Two gender-neutral restrooms for customers.

I was craving a burger, decided to try this hidden gem! I seen people enjoying outside seating with the misters and shade going! They have 2 double styles. I order the one with grilled onions. I also decided to try their fries (crisp cut). And I got a float. The float was just soft serve in a cup, except the ice cream tasted a lot better than your typical soft serve. You choose the soda at the fountain machine, which I chose Dr. Pepper. The burger was really good, they had a homemade sauce on it, not sure what it is, but it was so good I use my fries to dip in it. The fries were ok, I was hoping for a more crispy style, they were thicker with more potatoe per fry.. not a bad thing, just not what I was craving. They have a bar with a nice selection of spirits! I'd come back if in the area for sure! The burger was pretty darn tasty!

They are always busy but food comes out fast! The burgers are good. There are many options for the burgers. The chicken wings are so good. We got buffalo wings and could not stop enjoying them. The highball is tasty. I like to see their highball maker machine at the bar. Their float is great. We can pick the soda we want and they soft serve is creamy delicious.

This place is the spot!!! No matter which location you go to they are coming up with some of the most insane specials. Diner vibe with great music and cool staff. Love the veggie burger.

The Fries and ranch here are ELITE!! Perfectly crisp, seasoned and a fresh homemade ranch. The burger was good, buttery, but left something to be desired, perhaps needing a bit more sauce or more seasoning in the meat? The inside of the restaurant is very cute, Diner style, fun ambiance! Service as quick, food came out very fast!

Unique burger with quality taste. Tried the double burger, fries and swirl soft serve. The burgers are rich even though the patties are thin, the burger will fill you up. The fries were a very crispy waffle fry and those were delicious. The soft serve was decent, but after filling up on the burger and fries we could've done without it. They have a nice little outside patio with plenty of tables and unique old school seating inside with a liquor bar. Overall, a good unique burger spot in Scottsdale.

Great burger option in phoenix. We came here after a hike and were ravenous - so the burgers and fries hit the spot! I got the veggie burger and it was really good! A little too fried but still very good! The fries were also amazing! M The restaurant is a bit loud but has a fun and young vibe! Service is good and fast

Plenty of patio space with mist fans, minimal seating indoors and out. Incredibly small place. Cashier taking orders was unmemorable, waiter bussing orders was low-energy. Orders took 20 minutes to complete. Odd restaurant vibes. Burgers & fries were OK at best. Can't believe we spent over $12 for one burger.. AND we were hungry. Best of luck to Jimmy.

We got the double burgers and split fries and my gosh was this good! I've been hearing so much about Bad Jimmy's recently so I went to the old town Scottsdale location. If you like a smash burger you're in for a treat. These burgers were insanely good, the bun was perfect and the sauce on it wow. The fries were also the perfect texture, and the spices on it omg they are my perfect fry. Not to mention the ranch, so so good and they are a really good size for 1. The inside is a cool vibe with a full bar, limited indoor seats but they have a few tables outside. The employees were nice and the food came out pretty quickly. Will definitely be back!

Was so excited to drive to this place and try it out after seeing the hype- and the hype was RIGHT! Seriously the most amazing burgers and the waffle fries were perfection! The ranch was so good we bought some to take Home we also indulged ourselves in the soft serve ice cream and it was the perfect treat! Worth the 30 minute drive and happy they opened up the location here. Staff was very kind. Definitely a must for burger lovers!!

Small but mighty burger joint! Very fun and nostalgic 90s decorated place. Menu was simple with just 3 burger options to pick from. If you like thin and crispy pattys, this is your place!

Really good burgers here - would highly recommend. The only downside is that they are so busy and inside seating is limited. A little loud with the music, so probably not much of a place to take kids - but the food is incredible!

Too many burgers being cooked at once. The menu is boring and staid. Easy money for Jimmy, but no choices for us. It was like everyone eating the same thing at a wedding. Nothing special about this guys food either.

Best burger I've ever had. There, I said it. And what's even more impressive? This was take out. If a burger can impress me that much without stepping foot in the restaurant....Thats a winner! Highly recommend you all RUN, not walk to Bad Jimmy's! Delicious!!!!!

The food was excellent. The burgers were nice and hot, cheese was melted, and the fries were hot as well. The service was fast, the burgers came out quickly, and the ambience was nice. Kind of like an old style diner.

No complaints - solid smash burgers at reasonable prices . Parking is easy as it's in a shopping center . It's small and crowded but worth the wait - yum

Good burgers, is a shame the service is so bad. Consistently terrible service. It's clear they're going for a certain atmosphere, but the "too cool to take your order" attitude is rude. If you're just there for the food, I recommend ordering to-go from the much friendlier counter staff. If you're planning to sit at the bar, be prepared to feel invisible...and I've watched the same happen to other guests. Bizarre atmosphere.

Took my 12 yr old son there for a burger after middle school baseball and before football. My son asked staff for the WiFi and they wouldn't give it to him , then you could hear the staff mocking him in the back area. He was gonna be a good student athlete and complete some homework in between sports, 2025 you'd think you'd have some WiFi. The food was gut bomb gross, the atmosphere was cheesy, and the staff was lame- I wanted to check in with a manager but no one looked over 23. It's in the neighborhood but we won't go back

The burger was spot on. Bun was proper texture. Waffle fries were crisp and piping hot. The vibe inside is different with pulsating music. Kinda interesting but probably not for everyone.

I was really looking forward to it, but I really think a burger shouldn't taste like two layers of grandma's pantyhose soaked in hamburger grease.... with a ton of sauce on top. The guy told me that that's called a "Smashburger". I honestly don't think that's a Smashburger. I've had them before. I think all us foodies have had one. ... If there was 1 ounce of meat in both layers ,I would be very surprised. It was like looking through burnt spiderwebs.

Their second location, in Scottsdale. Excellent Food, Great CS and very clean. Don't let the small wait stop you from enjoying a great burger made with locally sourced ground steak.

Came in for dinner during the week, saw the videos and wanted to try that smash burger. We sat at the bar and the staff was friendly, checked on us often. The burger was solid but the WINGS were the star of the show... dry rubbed smoked wings are FIRE. Overall food was great, restaurant was very clean and great experience.

I have been wanting to try Bad Jimmy's for sometime now but parking was just too much of a challenge at the Phoenix location. To discover they were opening a Scottsdale location close up where I live was sweet music. Got to try it today. It did not disappoint. I had the Classic Double with the Waffle Fries. Both were great. This place is a burger joint...nothing more, nothing less. The menu is simple and straightforward. I was able to walk right in and they took my order right away. After ordering, you get a number and they bring the order to you. Twice staff checked on me to make sure everything was good. Had a great conversation with the manager, Anthony. It is obvious he enjoys his job and takes pride in the restaurant. He even came back with a complimentary Vanilla Soft Serve which was drizzled with a little olive oil and sea salt...two things I would never think to pair with ice cream yet it worked! Bad Jimmy's is where Starlite BBQ was located and is much better suited to the space as people are in and out. As a long-time resident of the neighborhood Bad Jimmy's is a welcomed addition.

I came here on the first day for lunch, and had the Double Burger, because I've had it before and loved it, and it did not disappoint. Super high quality meat that I know from the truck and Phoenix location, beautifully caramelized and integrated with onions, the lacy, sickly delicious edges...freaking awesome, particularly with fries and a litre bottle of Mexican Coke. So what's the problem? Later that day, my buddy wanted to take me up on the offer I had thrown out at lunchtime. It turned out to not be any sort of problem. While I could have wolfed down a second double, the special burger was the LA Burger which was a single smashburger patty topped with a layer of griddled Pastrami, and mustard! That delivered a completely different flavor profile, and I was delighted. Since it was now dinner, I didn't have any issues with having a cocktail or two, so I had their take on a sour, and then a classic margarita as a follow up, and they whipped them up quickly! Bottom Line: these guys are good at anything they think should be served in this spot. The cocktail program is worthy of a place cranking out some of this town's best food. And, the restaurant looks even better in the evening with the patio lights on and house lights dimmed, the bar, kitchen and Drink Machine lights adding to the ambience. Perfect meal on a perfect Scottsdale spring night.

Burger cooked well and crispy. Toppings are proportional and it's really not bad. Got the seasonal Green Chile Burger with inverted buns, which was interesting but tasty. I feel like it was lacking a punch of flavor, especially for $16. The fries.... my favorite. Seasoned perfectly (maybe on the high side which I like). I'd come back just for those. Overall, it's pretty expensive but good food. They have a cocktail bar inside as well and really dim, red ambience which is cool.

So happy to see Bad Jimmy's open up a new location in Scottsdale! The energy, the drinks, and the vibe are all just as amazing as the original. It's quickly becoming a go-to spot for nights out with friends. Great service, creative cocktails, and a space that feels alive.

I don't know what the hype was about. me and my family went on a Wednesday 8/20/25 and the burger was okay no tomatoes lettuce mustard or mayo and only have ketchup packets fries were good but spending $33 on a burger 2 drinks fries and a kids burger is not it its a basic burger and they don't offer combos its kind of sad. go to habit burger (kids eat free) or in and out. yes even they beat this place hands down. do better Jimmy.

I used to live on Miller where the bean cafe is now. It was called the Miller apartments in 1956. Cane by to factory the burgers here, we loved the double cheese burgers! We'll try the fries also, next time. Vanilla chocolate twist vibe was delicious. We'll be back. Live in Coolidge now.

Had a delicious craft cocktail at the bar while waiting for our burgers. We waited probably 15 min or so and these smash burgers did not disappoint. Crispy edges, grilled onions, and well seasoned. ( we did get the sauce on the side to dip). The waffle fries were fantastic too. Love a place that just does a small menu really well. And I'll be back not only for the burgers, but to try some more of those cocktails.

Amazing burger and fries as expected. We have been to the downtown location but this one is closer. We arrived a bit late on Sunday only to find out they were sold out however we were lucky enough to get the last 2 burgers. It was our lucky night. The burger was so good, quality meat. I love a steak burger. The criss cut fries are perfection, crispy and the right amount of seasoning. We will be back again and again. We spoke with Jimmy and learned a bit about his background. He and his staff were extra friendly. Fantastic customer service. As you can see from previous reviews I'm particular, I would give this spot a oh and the soft serve with olive oil drizzle and sea salt was uniquely delicious we can't wait to come back.

Don't believe all the 1 star-looks like people who've never reviewed & are probably competitors. Just went tonight & just as good as the other location! Loud, fun but really you come for the burgers. I get the one with pastrami -so good. Can't remember what it's called. The other through the double-the one without lettuce & ketchup & everything. I don't like the fries since they're seasoned but the rest of the group ate them. Too close to our house-we'll come often. We also got soft serve. I had olive oil & salt. Why is this not a thing everywhere!!

It was good. The burger was tasty and well cooked, the bun was soft (just the way I like them), the seasoned fries were too salty for me and I like salt, all in all a good lunch but to be honest I don't get all the hype? It's a good solid burger. but nothing I'd go out of my way to get. I don't drink soda so there was no option for a beverage except a water glass. Ok no biggie. But still a pretty average burger experience.... It would be nice to have ketchup bottles for dine in instead of packets but again not a big deal.

Bad jimmy's has ruined me for any other burger joint. This is the best burger in town! Today we ordered the smoked wings on a whim WOW!! Better wings than at a place that only does wings! Waffle fries are incredible. Don't get me started on the Ranch. Well done guys. You've been added to the rotation. Till next time.

First time at this new restaurant, stopped in for a Saturday lunch. It was packed. Saying that, the ordering process and service was very efficient. You order up front, find a seat and they bring your food. Had Classic Smash burgers and waffle fries, delicious!! You can also get drinks free the bar, had a Wren House porter and a Paloma. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff and good food...

Newly opened and very busy! I loved the atmosphere. The staff was friendly and were consistently cleaning between tables we had burgers, fries and a salad. Everything was very good.

This place is amazing. The vibe was awesome. It's cool enough to go out on your own, but if you are with kids, it's still a great option. The staff is amazing, the food is next level, and they have drinks and ice cream. If you are a local, I have no idea why you would spend your money at some other big burger place. Shop local, and support people sticking their neck out to do something really special.

Wow! I was swayed by all the great reviews. Stopped in at 6:00 pm on a Wednesday. The place is very very small, but we were lucky enough to get 2 seats at the bar. The menu is extremely narrow but that's OK if the burgers are great. Now for the facts; the Classic Burger was just OK; I've had much better and cheaper at Detroit Coney up on Hayden. No lettuce, no tomato, and minuscule onion. Worse than that: ketchup was only available in packets, not sure if you can even get mustard. The waffle fries might have been the best I have ever eaten; if it wasn't for the overpowering salt. But my biggest issue was with the wine beverage offering. While all of the food offerings had prices; the wine was listed as "market price." The only white varietal was a cheap white blend; that probably cost them $4 per bottle. However, the Market Price showed up as $15 on our final bill; for a measly 6 ounce pour. Over priced burger, too salty fries, and rip off wine price. Too many better places in Scottsdale. Nuff said!
