These Restaurants and Bars Are Worth the Drive to Columbia | Eater Nashville

"Row & Co, a multi-use retail complex south of the Square, boasts several small businesses, but most notably to those with an appetite: Bag of Joy Bagel Co. At Bag of Joy, Nick and Kailani DeLorenzo are crafting bagels from locally sourced ingredients — with flavors like dill pickle, honey brie, and cacio de pepe — that often draw lines around the building and sell out frequently." - Chanel Rene

Waited about 15 minutes in the line, and wow was it worth every second! We had a sausage pinwheel— SO GOOD!! We grabbed the last one, and it was amazing. Also grabbed the rosemary sea salt bagel with bacon schmear and the rosemary sea salt with the garden schmear. Will be returning many more times. Also the man working is an absolute ray of sunshine!!!

Delicious bagels and schmear! It was about 20 minutes wait during rush hour on Friday morning. Please plan out your time before visiting or you might go to work late. This place is only opened 3 days a week, Friday-Saturday 8am-noon. It is a tiny space and only has a room for 4 people to stand inside the store. This is a grab and go, in and out store. No dining area. It is $4 for a bagel or 3 for $10. Don't be surprised when you see the price. It is a bit pricey. Normally, a plain bagel cost in Nashville and Franklin is around $2.75 or $4 including cream cheese schmear.

WOW! The bagels here are indescribably delicious! The toastiness of the bagel and the creaminess of the schmear is a perfect combination. We tried the rosemary garlic bagel with honey brie schmear and the salted bagel with strawberry schmear. The bagels were fresh and are very reasonably priced. The owner was kind, personable, and informative. He made our stop an enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend getting a bagel (or 2) from Bag of Joy Bagel Co!

Google
Such good bagels! So friendly, so fresh, so damn good! Also tried the sausage pinwheel this time and WHAT?! I didn’t want to share with my wife. We’ve never had anything there we didn’t love but the jalapeño cheese is our favorite.

After moving to TN and realizing the majority of the food wasn’t worth paying for, Bag of Joy is a diamond in the rough! My sons and I love their bagels. They have a great chewy texture and good flavor! Definitely recommend stopping by if you haven’t.

Have been here now close to 10 times and every time it is just as good as the last. Can confidently say the jalapeno cheddar bagel with bacon cream cheese is the best bagel I've ever had. The owners are also extremely nice and make a point to talk to everyone who comes in. If you live nearby you have to give this place a try!

Having lived in NY for most of my life where there are bakeries and cafes everywhere you take it for granted until you can’t find a place who serves fresh bagels. Bag of Joy is a small take and go bagel place and offers limited and very delicious schmears . I was hoping to try another taken for granted staple a bacon egg and cheese and unfortunately they sell out early. I got the Asiago bagel with vegetable smear and ordered the rosemary and bacon for my bf who is also a NY native. We both enjoyed our bagels and the owner was very friendly. The bagel is photo had some bites by me before I took photo . The parking was tricky and I had to use my parallel parking skills. Recommend and will definitely be back! 5 out of 5 on my yummo scale😛

First visit due to limited shop hours and I don’t live in the city, happened to be in town for an early meeting. Came for a salt bagel and there was one left. I brought it home to toast and had one half with butter the other with cream cheese. This bagel was definitely not like the bagels of coastal CT/NYC where I lived for decades. This bagel was thinner, dark brown which to me means over cooked and had a sprinkle of salt. I was hoping for a plump, chewy bagel with a thick salt coating. I was a bit shocked at the price for a single bagel. Over $4, which I imagine is because of the low volume. If this is thier norm it will be a one and done for me. I wish them success but I doubt I will return.

Yelp
Don't miss this amazing shop in Columbia! Go early so you don't miss out bc he does sell out fast sometimes by 10:30 am! Only open 3 days a week (Friday - Sunday). His sausage pinwheels sell out within 30 minutes of opening! Had to get there by 8am to snag some! Worth it! The Asiago and the rosemary bagels are my favorite!! The honey Brie smear is so good! Columbia is fortunate to have this shop!

Yelp
We drove down from Franklin to try these and it was worth the trip. I've tried several bagels since we moved to TN and these are the best. Crispy outside with an airy inside. Amazing.

Yelp
First let me start off by saying I know my bagels. I lived in NYC and NJ for over 20 yrs. I then moved to Texas and was in Texas for 4 1/2 yrs. I LOVE bagels and have been on a quest for them since I left the east coast. In San Antonio, I found a couple places that were good, one even super good. But Nothing came close to the east coast bagels I was used to and loved. Even friends would bring me bagels when they came to visit. I had one friend gift me bagels on my birthday lol. This past Saturday I tried Bag of Joy Bagel for the first time. I have lived in Columbia for 7 months and have been wanting to go but had not had the chance. I googled it, found it and went in, super tiny spot only big enough to order. One very busy person behind the counter. Super simple menu to choose from... I was eyeing all the bagels while I waited in line trying to figure out what I was going to try. I got the 3 bagel bag with an everything bagel, an onion bagel and a plain bagel. I usually always have cream cheese or a Smear at home so I didn't get that. They were 3 for $10, which is high for this bagel girl but OH SO WORTH IT! Omgosh. I am hooked. They were hard and crunchy on the outside and soft n chewy on the inside. They were not that salty and just right. You have definitely found a loyal customer in me, please don't go away. You beat the chain bagel companies that I have tried as well! Next time I will try a BEC! IYKYK! Thank you!!

Yelp
We go almost every weekend! Welcoming place! We like the Jalapeño cheddar bagel with dill pickle schemer, blueberry bagel with lemon schemer and the Cinnamon Toast Crunch bagel!

Yelp
Dude.... I can't even explain how awesome these bagels are. Living so close to this place is a blessing and a curse. I regularly send my husband to get be bagels on days that he is off work. My usual is the Asiago with Chive Schmear. But today they were out of the Chive, so they recommended that my husband get me the Garden Schmear. MOUTH WATERING. I've never had anything like this on a bagel! It was so good!!!

Yelp
The bagels are good, they aren't the best. Are they better than a place like Panera, eh, a little. I get that supply prices and overhead are high, but $40 for a dozen bagels is awfully steep. I like to support local, but I'm afraid of how the prices will affect their sustainability.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place, best bagels that you'll find in Middle Tennessee. This is part of the weekend routine for us now. Get there early if you don't want to stand in line for long, but even if you do there's always nice people to chat with and it's WELL worth the wait. Bag of Joy bagels!

Matt B.

Yelp
This place is really good, but prepare to wait. I waited about 30 mins. The small setup and 2 person staff makes it hard to get food out quick and move the line. The tiny cramped waiting area stops them from taking more orders. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. It was really good! My son got a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and really liked it. Unfortunately I could only order one BEC because they were out of eggs. They quoted a much longer wait and my time was up at this point. Staff wasn't apologetic about it. Worth the wait, but don't go if you are in a crunch for time. It could be 45 mins to get what you want.

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS bagels!!! The atmosphere of the shop was awesome as well. Loved all the little details: the Dolly and Guy saint candles, the Mrs. PacMan arcade game, and even the owner's Grateful Dead apron! Love the vibes!

Yelp
Tried BOJ for the first time today. Got there just after opening (7am). They have a problem with service. The guy taking orders is also slicing, toasting and dressing bagels. I ordered 2 bagels, paid, and stepped aside. He sliced and threw them in the toaster, then proceeded to take the next guy's order of like 8 dozen bagels. Meanwhile I was standing there and my bagels were sitting there getting cold. Finally the poor baker guy came over to finish packing my order. Combined with the wait time of the customer in front of me, it took about 20 mins to get 2 bagels. Once home, the disappointment continued. The bagels were thin as pancakes and tough as shoe leather. Seriously, a grocery store bagel is better than this. The strawberry schmear barely had strawberry flavor. The blueberry bagel had even less flavor than the plain bagel, and certainly no blueberry taste. Will never return. But I hope they improve and do well eventually.

Yelp
An East Coast bagel shop in Columbia, TN?!?! Who would have ever thought. Being a Jersey girl (originally) I never thought I would find bagels like Bag of Joy Bagel here. My everything bagel and my husbands jalapeño cheddar bagel were both awesome. I am happy as a clam. You guys are probably not going to be in that location all that long because you're going to need a bigger facility!! Thank you sooooo much. Blessings over you and your business!

Kimberly R.

Yelp
The service was great, and the bagel was outstanding!! I can't recommend the blueberry with lemon enough!

Yelp
If you want an amazing bagel and flavorful cream cheese, this is the place to go. The Asiago bagel with tomato and basil cream cheese was amazing.

Yelp
Never had a better bagel! This place is AMAZING. The jalapeño cheddar bagel with bacon schmear is heaven sent.
