"Bagels from our favorite local neighborhood spot, Bagel Buffet. Got mine toasted with Kerrygold butter wall to wall, and I added Grey Poupon mustard and four slices of Boar’s Head salami. My son, husband, and I love salami. Love salami."

Bagel Buffet Serves Exemplary Tacos — and Other Cheap Eats - Eater NY

"Near the bustling corner of Sixth Avenue and 14th Street, Bagel Buffet was just one of many nondescript bagel stores in the city, serving up decent bagels with the usual treatments and toppings, in addition to omelets, Danish sweet rolls, several types of croissant, and, at lunch, hamburgers, toasted cheese, wraps, and paninis. But more recently Mexican food was added to the bill of fare, and it quickly outshone everything else." - Robert Sietsema

The next time I'm around, I'll make a point to come back. Their workers provided outstanding service also. The dishes deserve recognition. The environment pleases, the food impresses and everything works well. Despite the popularity, I had a good time and satisfying meal.

Google
I tell visitors they must try this local spot. Outstanding dishes here come with reasonable tags. Nice servers provide good food in generous amounts at reasonable costs. The workers all exhibited warmth and personality. I'll be back to try everything on the menu.

I experienced what happens when a restaurant truly cares. This restaurant has become our family tradition. What else would make this experience complete? The meals here are perfectly prepared. This spot addresses a dining need.

Google
Had breakfast here on Oct 14th: price was okay ($5) and the bagel was decent (nothing special). Seems okay for a quick and reasonable (price and quality) breakfast.

Google
I was pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of bagels here! Was craving a bagel early in the morning and came across this place. Would definitely recommend it - nice place to grab other quick convenience items too.

Google
Excellent smoked salmon bagel with red onions and capers. Came to New York City looking for this.

Google
Came for a ToGoodToGo pickup and I couldn’t trust the food from this place because the bagel toppings behind the counter didn’t look fresh at all. Meat behind the counter was grey, peanut butter looked dry and with a greasy white film on top. I appreciate them trying to reduce food waste with the app and the bagels probably don’t have the same issues as their toppings appeared to have, but if a place is unsanitary I just can’t trust anything that’s provided. It is close to closing and it’s probably been a long busy day for staff, but sanitation is just really important to feel confident in what I’m getting to be safe.

Yelp
A solid 4 star. Place is basically a bodega which features bagels. Mind you the bagels are excellent and the coffee non descript. Very little room to sit. Service was fast and efficient and friendly. Worth coming back if in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Had a quick lunch date with my bf. He eats here frequently. We got his usual- chicken parmigiana with a side of fries. I didn't enjoy it. The fries wear too soft. I prefer mine to be crunchy. The bread was too hard. Sorry my love but I'll choose the next quick lunch meal.

Yelp
Really wonderful, bagels are a favorite , l miss the location on 6th ave and 8th street where l would buy hot bagels as they came out of the oven at midnight, these with butter were the best bagels l've ever had, regular bagels are very good too, also really excellent Mexican food, l could argue that this is just as much a Mexican restaurant as it is a deli who would have thought excellent Mexican food at deli but it's New York, there you go, highly recommend.

Yelp
Looking for a quick bite, we went by fellow Yelpers reviews, and in a rare 1-off, found this place to be unremarkable. We both got a bagel sammie, and the eggs were half-black from a grill that obviously needed cleaning, maybe from use from the day before. Bagels were fresh, but nothing out of the ordinary. Kind of feel like we wasted a good bagel opportunity . . . Cheers! RS

Yelp
Bagel Buffet was one of the few places right by Union Square that serves an everything bagel with egg, cheese, and sausage, and they're available at lunchtime! I was nursing a craving for this specific but popular breakfast sandwich but was sad (and surprised) by how hard it was to find a place that would satisfy it. The bagel unfortunately had some burned bits on it but was otherwise good. There was a pretty thick sausage, fluffy egg, and good amount of cheese--and it was only $4.60! (It ended up being $4.20 after using a college ID for 10% off.) While I wouldn't recommend coming out of the way to get a bagel here over one of the famous bagel shops, I think Bagel Buffet deserves a solid 4 stars for a cheap sandwich that checks all the boxes! :)

Yelp
I've lived around the corner from Bagel Buffet for almost a year and I'm sad to say that it took me this long to try it! The number of times I've passed it on the way to Murray's bagels is embarrassing. The staff is nice and service is quick! I got The everything bagel with egg cheese and sausage, toasted with a fresh squeezed OJ for a little under $8! This hit the spot & i will def be back!

Yelp
One thing's for sure. This is the best bacon, egg, and cheese I've ever smelt. I opened the tin wrapper and a waft of pork breezed through to the pleasure centers of my brain. I've been in the neighborhood for close to a decade and I've never noticed this unkempt out-of-place bodega until now; it's truly a different world when you step inside. I ordered my usual: a bacon, egg, & cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel itself wasn't very plump and if anything, after being pressed, was closer to an English muffin. It's less filling this way but the bagel to meat ratio was more proportionate. My coffee was basically cart coffee. No complaints. Refreshing even, to be able to get a normal breakfast in an array of non-normal options.

Julia K.

Yelp
Great place, tasty food, friendly and extremely well mannered service, free delivery, and great prices! What's not to like? Will be ordering again!

Yelp
Although they sell bagels, best options here are Mexican. I bought home a chicken torta and two pork tamales for my family and they devoured them. A real local gem. They also serve excellent tacos on corn tortillas and quesadillas.
google avatar

Arahant K.

Yelp
Great tasty options. Reasonable prices. Great for breakfast/ brunch. I usually buy bagels and latte/cappuccino. I love it.
google avatar

Ruggy J.

Yelp
They're called Bagel Buffet, but that's somewhat misleading. They also happen to make some of the better and more unexpected tacos you'll find in Lower Manhattan. The street tacos are significantly larger that similar tacos, double-wrapped in corn tortillas and stuffed to the gills with all sorts of meat options. Bistec, pollo asado, carnitas, barbacoa, and more. Guacamole comes without an up-charge, and there's enough heat to where it's unnecessary to add hot sauce. At $3, it's a lot of bang for the bucks. If tacos aren't your thing, of course, you could always get a bagel.

Yelp
Super quick bagel spot! Very soft and tasty bagels. Limited seatings, but several different bagel options. Very quick service and friendly staff. Coffee is pretty good.

Randi J.

Yelp
I think this is really me...and I'M in NYC! I live right around the block from Bagel Buffet, which has performed splendidly over the years. Love their tuna, egg, grilled cheese sandwiches on toasted bagels. Have lots of great, unusual salads and cream cheese specialties, as well as burgers and meat sandwiches. Since the pandemic and the warmer weather, Bagel Buffet has set up a small outdoor dining area...very cute and decorated with beautiful and real plants. New furniture also selected by only woman working there. And you can sit there forever. Here are some pictures.

Yelp
Bagel Buffet NY Manhattan Union Square/Greenwich Village 1pm BagelSunday 31st January 2016 Three Stars This small place served up an okay bagel. They didn't have Salt Bagels. Grant got an everything Bagel with Bacon, Eggs, and Cheese. I had Chorizo, Eggs, and Cheese on an Egg Bagel. They were smaller than usual. The eggs were freshly cracked and cooked. The meat was lacking and cheese was barely melted. Overall, it was okay but definitely a quicker alternative to Murrays Bagels down the street.

Yelp
Very disappointed with how today's situation was handled. I ordered a sandwich and it was left with my doorman. I get to the building and the delivery was waiting for me, I go open the bad turns out it's a chicken wrap. I am thinking they messed up my order I was too hungry to call back and wait for the right order to get sent so I just ate the wrap. About 20 mins later another order gets deliver this time what I had originally order, I go down to get my delivery and I grab it And eat it. About 20 mins later the delivery guy comes and back saying that where was the order because he had drop it off at the wrong address. He was told both order were eaten. He calls what seemed to be the manager. The manager is demanding for the first order to be pay back because we knew it wasn't our order. Long story short he hung up the phone on me. 1- if they messed up. It wasn't my fault. I didn't want to deal with waiting calling and waiting so I just ate what I had gotten. 2- now out of all times is not a great time to come pick food up from a customer you don't know what I had done to that food. 3- if ya fucked up take the lost and don't argue with a customer over an item that's not even $10 especially if they not at fault.

Yelp
I ordered a turkey bacon, egg and cheese on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel and it was fine. This is your standard no-frills bagel/sandwich/juice shop and it works. Prices are pretty good for the area.

Yelp
Do not take this place for a real bagel shop. It's not. They have a basic selection of starchy bagels, though I don't know where they are trucked in from... the word 'bagel' shouldn't even be in their name (it's more of a quick/greasy lunch & sandwich joint). I think they offer nova salmon, but I didn't trust it here. I'll save my craving for another venue. Would I return? Ha. There are too many good (& legitimate) options nearby, at least for breakfast. Lunch? I'll pass. I don't know who is boosting this place with 4-5 stars, but whoever it is, please stop comparing places to the Path Station holes you frequent. Come above ground, come up for air, and treat yourself better. Don't give a place 5 stars just because their dingy fluorescent bulbs aren't burned out.

Jen N.

Yelp
A strong showing for these guys and gal. The speed, the accuracy, the dedication! If you want an absurdly sweet old school New York coffee, egg on a roll, or sandwich, this is great! Eat that thing right away though, sitting at the little tables-- they do not travel well. I've had their tortas twice-- once was delish and the other was a little disappointing; not sure what differed (could it have been my mood?).

Charlotte L.

Yelp
Although this may be an underrated menu option, their pork tamales are amazing. Perfect size for a quick and filling meal and they are as authentic as they come. Can't get enough!

Yelp
Imagine yourself in The Village looking to experience what its like to be a native New Yorker. You are looking for a place that could be your secret spot. That is Bagel Buffet. They are extremely accommodating and offer breakfast all day. I have never left feeling underwhelmed. Don't let it's looks deceive you- it's great.

Samantha S.

Yelp
My dad had told me to try this place for their Mexican tortas and they did not disappoint. 100% recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Hidden gem! Don't be fooled by the appearance, looks like a little hole in the wall but the food is outstanding. - Bagels are fresh and flavorful - Breakfast sandwiches are simple and delicious - Mexican dishes are AMAZING! The tortas, burritos and nachos are to die for... much better than any Mexican restaurant in the area They pay attention to special instructions and the staff is SO friendly, both in person and when delivering. 5 stars for sure!!

Yelp
Got off the Path looking for a bagel shop and I didn't realize i was standing right next to one! There are a bunch of signs with plates of delicious looking sandwiches and fries displayed on the window, on the street, inside all around the walls, that I didn't think there were bagels until I yelped it. So much food and everything looks super appetizing. Got the lox and bagel - yummy! There's so much to pick from besides bagels.

Yelp
This place has been around for at least 20 years that I know of and though I don't visit often, it never disappoints. The bagels are always fresh, the breakfast sandwiches so yummy! I had to write a review...
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
Went here in search of the best bagel in NYC--unfortunately, I still haven't found it. I decided to go with a toasted pumpernickel bagel with cream cheese. While it came out extremely quickly (2 minutes?), it lacked the freshness and size that some other places around the area have been able to achieve. Nonetheless, this place is great on the weekend as there was barely a line and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.
google avatar

Deborah J.

Yelp
I freakin' love this place. Best breakfast bagels in the neighborhood. Friendly and competent people working there.
google avatar

Yelp
Just ordered! Super pumped to add to my takeout list! Late night hunger is a thing! Love crazy and polite!
google avatar

Kath B.

Yelp
My favorite place to come for lunch or a little pickme up. 4 freezers for drinks from naturals to water to snapples. Yuss. Wraps, Salads, Sandwiches, Chicken Tenders, Fries, Bagels, Coffee, Teas. Has it all. Place to sit always. Guys are cool and you feel comfortable. Used to stop by here years ago then rediscovered this gem! Also remember the other location :)
google avatar

Owen B.

Yelp
Neighborhood gem!!! These guys take pride in their food. Their tacos are amazing. All fresh ingredients! Anthony Bourdain would be impressed. Sandwiches are great. From a marketing perspective, they should change their name. 'Bagel Buffet' is limiting and they are so much more than bagels. The bagels are fine but by no means what they do best. Plus, there are bagel shops nearby that specialize in bagels. Rebranding would be a payoff and worth the investment. Nothing fancy inside but they've got a grade A rating from the city for cleanliness so that says something.
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Reasonable priced. Quick, easy, and they'll remember you. Perfect spot for quick breakfast or lunch. I eat here nearly everyday and I think they're the top.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
Small deli on 6th ave just south of 14th st. most people walk by, but the regulars keep going back. While it's called Famous Bagel Buffet...don't let the name fool you....the tacos and tortas here are amazing! I got back each week and either get a set of tacos or a torta (usually salted beef). I have a friend from mexico who also goes back weekly for his torta fix. i recommend this place to everyone in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Nancita M.

Yelp
Omelette was good but I ordered white toast with butter. Got wheat toast dry. Boohoo.
google avatar

Obie F.

Yelp
Food quality okay but cashier was too distracted to get my order right on first or second try. Then ended up with such a pathetic little smear of veggie cream cheese on my bagel that had to ask for more. Disappointing.
google avatar

Victor P.

Yelp
Pretty good bagel and sandwich place! The service is always quick and the prices are decent!
google avatar

Joe A.

Yelp
It was fine. The food tasted fine but this bagel was certainly not up to snuff as far as NY bagels are concerned

Hyun K.

Yelp
This is the hidden gem of Union Square. Hands down, this is better than Murray's bagel's (I actually tested multiple friends on this). But if you want to eat their best, get one of their Chorizo Tortas. It will change your life.
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
So I don't pop in here very often, as it may have sounded in my initial post. Stopped in yesterday after a long hiatus, and frankly I am not seeing where I justified the 4th star. The bagels are average. Yes, it is conveniently located right outside the PATH station, but there is a better bagel just 1 block south. It took me until today to walk that extra block...
google avatar

Tellitlikeitis S.

Yelp
I love this place your food ALWAYS tastes good! they make it fast and the guys remember how u like it.

Zoe G.

Yelp
Great inexpensive spot for quick breakfast. I grab a bacon egg and cheese or bagel with cream cheese on my way to work. They're always quick. I have ordered delivery from them many times and it is fast! Never messed up my order and just as expected each time.
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
Called to place a catering order, was literally passed off to 3 different people all who asked "how can I help you?" after telling them I want to place a catering order I was put on hold for an extended period of time. Finally speaking with an actual person I was told I could make the order a day before the event. Overall HORRIBLE customer service!

Shen B.

Yelp
I ordered breakfast at/around 9am. I called around 9:45 to inquire on the status of my delivery and was told that it should arrive within a few minutes - few minutes turned in to 2 hours and then to not coming at all. I called the store to cancel my order and asked to be refunded in which I was told it would take a few days for my refund to hit my account. Well, just like my breakfast my refund never made it's way to my account. I called the store and asked to speak to a mgr. about my refund as was told I'd (me the customer) have to call an 800# to get my money back (hmmm!). I said to the mgr. that that was unacceptable and I wanted my money back. Long story short he said I'm not getting it back. What great customer service that was. I'm angry that I have to give this crappy company any form of star rating. If it were up to me, I'd rate it with an expletive.
google avatar

Nancy G.

Yelp
Never an issue for delivery when I order. Always prompt. Their iced cappuccino is awesome!!!
google avatar

Nicole H.

Yelp
Placed an order on seamless.. gave me hot chocolate instead of coffee, and whole wheat bagels instead of plain. The bagels also were hard and seemed like they were days old. Speedy delivery but I wouldn't order or go here again.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
These are the best bagels around. I order off of seamless at least once and week and the delivery is so fast. Always less than a half hour and they've never messed up my order. Highly recommend.
google avatar

April Y.

Yelp
Really good bagels here. I usually get the lox spread on a savory toasted bagel and it's great. I always try to eat only half, but it's so good I end up eating the whole thing in one sitting! The guys working there are courteous, efficient, and can multitask! Leave a tip.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
I get this place probably too often for delivery because it's so GOOD and CHEAP! I almost don't want to write this review for fear of it being discovered, but it's seriously the best breakfast place I've tried in my three years in New York. I order it on the Seamless app on my phone before I stop at the subway and it's always waiting for me when I arrive at my office. Personal favorite is the whole wheat everything bagel or the egg, turkey bacon and cheese sandwich but it's all good!
