The 15 Best Restaurants In Kendall

"Kendall outsiders may be surprised to see a bagel spot in this guide. But Bagel Express is an old-school Kendall bagel shop located across from Town & Country Mall (or whatever bougie name it goes by now). If the dude across the counter wore more form-fitting clothes, you’d think you stepped into the ‘70s. Bagels here strike the perfect balance between soft and chewy, the lox schmear is smooth and savory, and the coffee is hot. " - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

The 8 Best Bagels In Miami

"Kendall outsiders may be surprised the area has some solid bagel options. But before croquetas took over, bagels were as common in this part of Dade as Michael Kors bags in TJ Maxx. Bagel Express is old-school. And bagels here strike a good balance between soft and chewy, the lox schmear is smooth and savory, and the coffee is always hot. Bagel Express - Review - Kendall - Miami - The Infatuation

"Kendall outsiders may be surprised the area has some solid bagel options. We get it. Kendall doesn’t have a bagelicious reputation. But before croquetas took over, bagels were as common in this part of Dade as Michael Kors bags in TJ Maxx. Bagel Express is one of those old-school Kendall bagel shops located across Town & Country Mall (or whatever bougie name it goes by now). If the dude across the counter wore more form-fitting clothes, you’d think you stepped into the ‘70s. Bagels here strike the perfect balance between soft and chewy, the lox schmear is smooth and savory, and the coffee is hot. It’s also kind of trippy to eat a bagel in a place that feels less like being on the set of The Nanny—which is what you’d get in Aventura—and more like ¿Qué Pasa USA?." - Carlos C Olaechea

We've been coming here for 35 years. New owners came in and they are awesome. They have added delicious onion bialys , croissants, occasional homemade pastries and rugalach. The bagels are the best. I get an omelet with vegies, sausage and cheese. We also get the nova platter and they give us generous amounts of lox, onion, tomato, lettuce, pickles, capers, potato salad and cream cheese. Everything is fresh. This is the best place to get the nova platter in the Kendall and Pinecrest area. And one of the few places in Miami that still serves vanilla and hazelnut coffee. They also serve espresso coffee drinks. They have different kinds of in house mixed cream cheeses and they make honey butter. They serve Martinelli's apple juice and Dr. Browns soda, along with tea, coca cola sodas and orange juice. You can get sandwiches made with Boars Head meats and they have a sanwich lunch special that includes a drink and chips. The restaurant is family owned and family orientated. They are super friendly and and accomodating. The restaurant and restrooms are clean. They keep a tv on which is nice too. They have inside and outside seating. We've met a lot of the other regulars that come in and we always enjoy the atmosphere here.

Google
I’ve lived here my whole life, and I’ve never noticed this little shop, definitely a hole in the wall mom and pop vibe. I ordered an everything bagel and cream cheese with a cheese omelette and honestly it’s been some of the best breakfast I’ve had in such a long time. Very simple yet flavorful. The bagels are top-tier and there’s quite a selection of bagels to pick from. Very affordable as well compared to places now a days. Service was quick and to the point. Very delicious and will definitely be back.

I used to live in NYC so every now and again I wake up with a serious bagel craving----I just want a traditional styled bagel, with some yummy cream cheese, and a coffee. I came into The Bagel Express with this craving in mind and was pleasantly surprised to find a true diner styled experience. The bagels here are definitely quality in comparison to other local spots. My boyfriend got a garlic bagel with cream cheese and egg on top while I decided to go with their nova platter with chives cream cheese that came with a delicious pickle (seriously, above average), lettuce, tomato, onion and a tiny side of potato salad. We enjoyed our meals and were definitely full after. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the pricing was a little high (we spent around $30) and the coffee was absolutely terrible; couldn't finish it and didn't want to. Other than this, I would come back for an authentic bagel or to try their deli styled sandwiches which is $10.50 with a drink and chips. IG: @KFitzEats

Google
Have been coming here for years and just now posting a review. These are authentic NY styled boiled bagels. They’ve been consistent and delicious every time no matter which kind you want. Today I had a multigrain everything bagel double toasted with honey maple turkey slices with provolone loaded with all the fixings accompanied with a nice pickle and potato salad. Extremely satisfying. Pedro prepared my lunch today and as always, a super nice guy. I’ll keep coming here and recommend to anyone who appreciates a really good bagel!

Google
Fresh food!!! Fresh baked bagels, Bialie's, and rugelach. Polite service. Delightful place! Bialy was great! Delicious Onions on top, Porous texture and crisp edges. Nova Scotia Platter was perfect. Crisp cold new pickle. Fresh Crunchy cold sweet raw onion slices. Nova -mild and delicate flavor. Bagel great! Potato salad just right! Generous portions and fair prices. Oh I almost the rugelach were fabulous & homemade. Chocolate and raspberry. Yes, I am starved for good real deli food in Miami. Bagel Express more than delivered. Now that I found you, please keep it up! Dr Brown's sodas too. Heads-up, they have delicious empanadas too and sell out fast. Go early to Bagel Express and get some happiness food. They close at 2pm and are open every day.

Google
Ordered a delicious breakfast bagel sandwich. Bagel was toasted and fresh with the honey butter spread. Ordered veggie omelette which included spinach and tomatoes. With cheese included, my total came out to 8 dollars. Pretty decent price compared to other places. Plus the ladies working there were very nice and making sure eggs were cooked to my likings. Overall speedy, fresh, and delicious.

Google
Kind of sucks now. You ask for a bagel with cream cheese and you get a very light schmear. Resulting in a dry bagel that really accentuates how piss poor the bagel itself is.

Nelson Vega

Google
Alright at best. Cold bagels- service with a frown. People don’t want to be there. Bagels is tough, not warm and chewy. Not really understanding the bagel toasting process here. Honestly- I’d love to say the place is great- it’s not. By a long shot. Cruise a mile to to have much different experience. My visit was a Saturday Morning. All mediocre.

Yelp
It's refreshing to have a delicious bagel shop in town. The employees are kind, speedy, and helpful. My go-to has been the wheat everything bagel. Putting sunflower seeds in an "everything" blend is genius. The nutty flavor, in addition to its saltiness and chewy texture, makes the bagel better than most. Additionally, the lox is always delicious, but if you're looking for something less expensive, a good ole bagel and cream cheese does not disappoint.

Yelp
This place bagels great service is great bagels always need to be fresh and they have second day bagels for cheaper price shop all updated but clean

Yelp
The food is great and always has been. That hasn't changed since the change of ownership. Ambiance has shifted drastically. The warm, old-American vibe is now replaced with a more modern, cool toned theme. I see what they tried to do, but it's just a bit colder now. Not my vibe, but may be for someone else. Service is moderately good. The warm welcome and occasional comment or banter from their old staff was great! Maybe a culture clash? They no longer butter your bagel for you when you order one toasted. The butter came in pre-packaged foil wrap. Ice cold and the knife kept bending too much to be able to properly spread. Little things, but feel like a big change in quality. It's deterred me from returning for a dine in experience again.

Gaston D.

Yelp
This place rules!!!! Their Honey Walnut spread is ridiculously good. Try it on anything!! Best place to get your bagel sandwich fix, West of the Palmetto. The family that runs this are very sweet and friendly. They have tables inside and outside. Love their coffee and their prices are very reasonable. Santino and Gabriela were running it when I came. Not my first time here, but my first time posting about this gem.
google avatar

Krista I.

Yelp
I've been here before for a bagel and cream cheese end it was always decent enough. This morning was not the case at all. I asked for my bagel whole grain everything bagel extra toasted. I got it barely toasted. I realized this when I pulled out of the parking lot so I went back to have them toast it more. There were no apologies. They took it. I waited. They gave me my bagel. I left. I didn't check it, assuming they would have just put my bagel in the toaster. When I got home they didn't give me my bagel. It wasn't even the bagel I ordered. Also the coffee tastes like dirt. Won't be coming back. $10 for bagel and small black coffee is ridiculous anyway.

Yelp
One of the BEST salmon bagel in town! The dough is very soft big amount of salmon and also the potato salad is one of the best sides you can choose :)
google avatar

Yadira M.

Yelp
Quick and delicious breakfast. Small place located in a strip mall. Everything was made on the spot with fresh ingredients. The omelettes and bagels were great! The little potato salad that comes as a side was fresh and delicious. I was just a little disappointed with the salmon, it was tasteless. Also, the outside tables and chairs were not clean. They ran out of napkins while we were there, but they were quickly replenished. Fast and friendly service
google avatar

Rolando G.

Yelp
Really yum bagels! Fresh and delicious. $2 per or $10 for half dozen. You can buy the 1/2 lb small tub of cream cheese for $5.

Yelp
Best bagels in Miami! I've been a fan since eating them during my days at Miami Killian Senior High. When I reached out to Killian a few years ago asking where they got their bagels from, they told me "Bagel Express" which was a pleasant surprise knowing they were a local company. The bagels are big and chewy, and the cream cheeses are also really good (definitely try their Honey Walnut cream cheese). Service is quick and friendly. Can't go wrong with this place!

Kathy A.

Yelp
We came to the Bagel Express under new ownership. The ambience is a bit cold, with not much on the walls. However the bagels were well made, well toasted. Honey walnut cream cheese was delicious. Scrambled eggs weren't amazing, flat top cooking but not bad. We also had lattes which were well made. We will definitely return. Put something fun on the walls!

Norma P.

Yelp
Asked for 1/2 dozen bagels. Noticed the display bagels were quite dark, over baked. Asked the employee to please not give me the dark ones. She bagged the bagels behind the counter and handed me the bagels in a brown bag. I paid and left. When I unpacked the bagels at home they were all very dark brown, very hard and dry and very difficult to slice. I called to speak with the manager to complain and was told she only spoke Spanish, luckily I do. She was not interested in my concern. Her conversation was all about defending the business.
google avatar

Miralys S.

Yelp
The food is good and hasn't changed since the new owners took over but the service definitely has. We've been giving them a chance weekend after weekend but it doesn't seem that anyone knows what they are doing. Too many chefs in the kitchen...literally. The order taker takes down the order but when you get your order something as simple as cold chocolate milk and large cafe con leche come out as large hot chocolate milk and small cafe con leche. A bagel ordered un-toasted, gets toasted. It's each and every time for the past couple months and we are not going back for some time because it's not even enjoyable anymore and disappointing that the simplest orders just don't come out right.

Yelp
I was looking for a breakfast spot and found this place on Yelp read the reviews and pricing and thought I'd try it out. Let me tell you the reviews were right. This little hole in the wall was fantastic. I had the vegetable omelet with a raising bagel, cream cheese and coffee. And it was great. The food was very fresh and prepared perfectly. The staff is attentive and the ambience was won't that everyone new everyone. So the atmosphere was a family just sitting down for breakfast. I just found my new bagel place in this area. Now I just have to plan on my next visit. Thank you for what you do and provide.
google avatar

Omayra B.

Yelp
I have rated this place 5 stars previously... That is until now, there are new owners and they are very rude, not the other young folks that work there. The eggs do not taste the same. Service is not as pleasant either. Also, the space is small in there we always try to give way when people are exiting and the owner bumped into my husband and didn't even say excuse me.
google avatar

luis a.

Yelp
Ive been a loyal customer to henry (previous owner) for years but let me tell you something... the new owners are just as great as henry! The new menu they created is amazing, from the empanadas and sandwiches to the best thing ever, which are the media lunas! Delicious and freshly made! Friendly staff, great customer service, Elijah always makes your breakfast with love! Great job bagel express!

Neylin D.

Yelp
This is the go to spot for a perfect light breakfast! Their media lunas are chefs kiss!!! With some cafecito . Super friendly staff and amazing owner! They had a great environment, super chill didn't not feel rushed even when they are in the middle of a rush!!!

Mary Q.

Yelp
I was heartbroken to walk into this bagel joint and see it so different. Looks like there is new ownership. I used look forward to all the sarcastic pictures. Another thing that jumped out at me right away was they covered the bagel window- I don't like that at all! It all looks very white when you walk in but not very welcoming as it felt uptight. I'm hoping they need some time to get up to speed with things but i couldn't wait, they were taking very long. Hopefully they hire more people to help. I might come back to give it another try because I'm close by.

Yelp
This used to be one of my top breakfast destinations during my Miami Dade College years. Decided to grab some breakfast and ordered their smoked salmon platter with wheat bagel. Amazing , got a great portion of the fresh salmon and onions, capers, and chives cream cheese. Family owned and great hidden gem in West Kendall.
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
Went there this week while on staycation. We wanted a good bagel so we thought why not bagel express. Once we got there we thought that they have breakfast so we chose the two egg, bagel and coffee breakfast. Plain breakfast but satisfying. The bagel were handmade therefore they tasted good. They charged a little extra for bagel with cream cheese but that's ok. Customer Service is a little dry but not disrespectful, so I can handle that.
google avatar

Mark F.

Yelp
Henry is a true gentleman, and the food is outstanding. Best Bagels in town!!!!! You can't go wrong with a dozen bagels and coffee on the weekends!!!!
google avatar

Falyn H.

Yelp
The Nova Scotia on an everything bagel hit the spot this morning! The pickle is definitely an acquired taste and not one that I personal had. Lol I was too full from the bagel to make it to the potato salad, but I did taste it and it was really good. My husband had the garlic bagel and liked it, but said it was a bit too salty for him. Are you a Dr. Brown's soda pop fans like my husband? They got you cover here with a variety of flavors. The staff was nice and made sure to clean down the outside tables in between guests. We live down the street from this sweet little bagel shop, so we'll definitely be coming back again soon.

S T.

Yelp
Just left The Bagel Express and have to say that the Lox platter is on point! $15 but worth it, comes with your choice of bagel, spread, salmon and all the fixings, potato salad and pickle on the side. Suggestion would also be to add a wedge of lemon and use Vidalia onion instead of white. Also took home to try a plain and cinnamon raisin bagel. Total was over $20 including tip. Excellent location and quick service!! Will be back.
google avatar

Jorge B.

Yelp
Excellent bagel, the cream cheese was very tasty and the service was quick and friendly. They need to put more poppy seeds on the poppy seed bagel but otherwise it was the best bagel I've had in Miami.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Best bagels in Miami. Hands down. Only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because I've had several instances where they screw up my take out order. But the bagels are so damn good I keep coming back anyways (they happily make it right if I ask them to correct it). Come here.... Just check your order before walking out the door.

Yamy I.

Yelp
Bagel Express has been sold and it's not the same service or quality anymore. We have been here for over 30 min and they have seem to get all the customers orders wrong. They have 4 employees and they don't know who order anything. So sad to see our l best breakfast place go down.
google avatar

Wendy A.

Yelp
YUMMYYYYY Wow what an amazing place. It's not too fancy but their bagels have to be the best ones I have tried in all Miami. My daughter ordered and garlic bagel with an omelet that had Swiss cheese and ham. The omelet was made fresh right there in front of us and then they put it inside the bagel. Sooooo good. We paid almos $8 but it was totally worth it. See you next time for sure!
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
The bagels are good and the service is friendly, but everything else was kind of a problem. On my most recent visit, I was ordering take-out. It was extremely crowded with too many tables and chairs, and there was a lot of stuff on the walls, which added to the clutter and the feeling that the walls were closing in on me. While the service is friendly, it took a pretty long time to get our order. We had to wait several minutes to pay, and then even longer to get our order. The prices were slightly higher than I expected. I ordered a bagel "platter" with cream cheese, lox, and tomatoes. When I got home I realized the cream cheese was left out of my take out bag. Make sure you check your order here.
google avatar

Aymara L.

Yelp
The Bagel Express is in a hidden little corner of Kendall (Miami, FL). One of my favorites bagels EVER. No frills, just classic deli vibes. Been here for over 25 years, and their NY-style bagels cannot be denied. #LocalGem
google avatar

Stephanie Michelle P.

Yelp
My mom and I have been coming here forever! It's a hole in the wall, but ain't nothin' wrong with that! They make their bagels in house and are actually the bagel supplier for roasters & toasters. They are delicious and fresh! I love eggs with my breakfast, but for some reason, the eggs just come out weird here. So now I order the tuna platter. Their tuna has tiny pieces of carrots minced in it and isn't overloading with mayo. It's just right! Reasons for 2 star deduction: 1. I think it's a little over priced. 2. I've noticed that when you become a regular customer here, they build a confidence with you to treat you like the red-headed step child they didn't want. They are rude and say comments that an employee shouldn't be saying. When mentioned to the owner, he defends the employees. (Obviously the customer isn't always right here.) *Pocket friendly tip: BOGO deal on bagels on the last hour they are open, but they won't cut or toast them for you.
google avatar

Cinthya S.

Yelp
Not impressed will not be returning. They got the order wrong. On top of that they asked us twice to confirm order
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast menu!! food is always great and the staff always greets each customer with a warm smile. They are very helpful and will take their time to help you with your order.

Yelp
I've been going to bagel express as long as I can remember (20 years at least). The service, food and atmosphere are always the best. If you want great bagels at a place that makes you feel at home, this place is for you.

Yelp
Always the best bagels! Love getting the baker's dozen on the weekend. Perfect for the weekend brunch and great for leftovers. The bagels are always the freshest. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Pretty good for fresh bagels. The service was very quick and the food was good. Reminded me of a New York bagel shop. Everything was fast paced in here. I ordered a bagel/egg/cheese and it came cut in half. My daughter had a plain bagel with cream cheese. The only thing I noticed was that they were running out of bagels but it was 1030am so get there early for your favorites.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome. I've been here maybe 5 times I've prolly been helped by the whole staff everyone is great.. I order the same thing everyday the number 1 - two eggs (scrambled with cheddar cheese) bagel with (walnut) cream cheese & Small coffee. Food always comes out in a good timely manner. They haven't missed a step the quality of food is great every time. Getting back to the staff they are very polite, informative, and attentive. This is a very clean and neat place to eat. 5 stars !
google avatar

Elaine F.

Yelp
I am so happy these guys re-opened. Their bagels. Do you want authentic New York style bagels, will get them here. Help these guys out and stop in for a bite. I swung by just to drop off my dog for her annual shots and I saw they were open for business.

Yelp
I have been coming to this store long time ago, Bagels are half price after 2pm. The selection of bagels is great, plain, poppy seed, onion, pumpernickle, everyting, garlic, etc. I always get the cream cheese salmon, it's yummy. The owner is always there, the quality of the product is superb.

Yelp
Loved it here. Food was great and Yahnelys, our server was amazing and attentive. Will definitely return.

Yandhira F.

Yelp
I love their bagels! Love the family Atmosphere i would definitely come back for bagels all the time! The eggs bacon and cream cheese are all fresh!

Robert D.

Yelp
I have been a customer for over 25 years and have tasted a number of different items on the menu. The bagels are all made FRESH daily as well a the cream cheese spreads. (Cream cheese and chives is a real winner!). The staff is very well mannered and the restaurant is very clean. There is something about "fresh" food that many of the other restaurants are not able to compete with. From great roast beef and pastrami sandwiches for lunch to eggs for breakfast they have it all covered here! It's no wonder they are there after 29 years -- everyone is happy and keeps coming back. Many of the other local delis buy their bagels from Bagel Express! It really doesn't get any better than this if you like a good bagel!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this bagel place in Kendall! I discovered it only a couple years ago and I'm so happy I did. Its located om 117th avenue in the small plaza just SW of the Red Lobster on Kendall Drive. Also in this plaza is Giardino Salads. Parking can be impossible at times but I've never given up and left. I love coming here on weekends when the place is packed with regulars and the sounds of their conversations amongst eachother and with the owner fill the tiny room. It gives Miami that small town feel even if just for a morning. I enjoy that very much. The staff is like family there. They are pretty friendly and quick with your order. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. If the place is empty enough I'll just wait there for it. Otherwise I sit down to get out of the way. Sometimes I sit outside because anyone who knows me knows I love outdoor seating! They serve bagels, bagel sandwiches, deli saNdwiches (deli meats sliced to order) eggs prepared any way, bacon and nova... of course. Their cream cheeses and butters are mixed there by them and they serve them on the side by default. This is perfect for me because that's the way I normally order it anywhere I go since I don't like the schmears to melt. My favorite bagels here are Egg and Cinnamon Raisin. Their Honey Walnut cream cheese has big pieces of walnuts and is perfectly sweet on either. Though the Egg bagel tastes extra delicious with regular butter. They offer brewed coffee, espresso, Natalie's O.J. and in 2 sizes, canned sodas including Dr. Browns. For dessert they have a cake stand on the counter that's always filled with Rugelach (a Jewish pastry usually made of cream cheese and filled with walnuts, chocolate or fruit). They also sell their spreads/schmears in tubs for you to take home.
google avatar

Marilyn O.

Yelp
The coffee is just as good as Einstein's Bagels (they have French Vanilla & Hazelnut). The bags are fresh made in house and their cream cheese is delicious! The only thing missing was the Nova Lox my fiancé got was missing capers but everything was fresh and delicious! I'll definitely be coming back here. It reminds me of NYC!
google avatar

Jacqueline O.

Yelp
The owner of is place is the nicest ever. Authentic NYC style bagels. Delicious salmon spread. COVID conscious service.
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
by far the greatest bagels in town! I've been coming here for like 20 years and it's always amazing service! Henry the owner is a doll! Knows everyone by name and treats you like family. Delish variety of cream cheese spreads. My favorite is the Nova you won't regret it. They have sandwiches too. board head meat and cheese.
google avatar

Antonio A.

Yelp
Fresh, cheap bagels and breakfast items. I usually have the #1 (1 bagel of choice with side of butter or cream cheese, cup of coffee that I swap for a can of Coke, and 2 eggs your way). I also add either a side of bacon or a side of grilled ham. OJ available too. I appreciate the option in sizes because I could never drink the large OJ. The Cinnamon Raisin bagel with Honey Walnut cream cheese is my favorite. I tried the Everything bagel just once but didnt have it again because the large grains of salt made it entirely too salty for me. Even after I tried picking them off. The Egg bagel with butter is DELICIOUS. The owner is usually there chatting with the regulars, which is nice. The employees are generally friendly no complaints there really. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. The space is tiny with lots of tables crammed in and a couple outside (bonus points for outdoor seating). Overall, a great little spot for a quick, cheap breakfast. They also serve nova and deli sandwiches but I haven't had either here. I have to knock off 1 star because the bathroom situation is unclear and I don't like that. There might be one there might not be.
google avatar

Peter T.

Yelp
Horrible service and horrible quality bagels. No room for social distancing and last time lox and cream cheese purchase here we had stomach problems for days. Stay clear of this place
google avatar

Rc G.

Yelp
They make good bagels. They are open until 230p, but if you like a selection get there before 10-1030a, by 1130-noon they are almost out of bagels and don't make more. So if you're looking for a late breakfast or lunch, suggest you find another place so you don't either settle for something you didn't really want or then have to go look for some place else

Faby P.

Yelp
I love this little place. My husband and I used to go every weekend, religiously, when we lived closer by. We now go about once a month. The service is awesome. The people who work there are super warm and welcoming. They take your order right away and your food comes out fast. The eggs are freshly made, they come out steaming hot. I usually order an egg white omelet w/ ham and a whole wheat bagel toasted w/ honey walnut cream cheese. The bagel is soft but firm, not mushy. The cream cheese is made fresh on premises (or so they say) and it's really good. The omelets are freshly made and always come out perfectly. This is a great little place to stop for breakfast (or brunch, if you roll out of bed @ noon) on the way out on the weekend.
