Where to Find the Best Bagels in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Max Palmer and his wife Kayla began like several others around Nashville in January of 2020 — as a delivery-only bagel shop that started in their home kitchen in January of 2020. Fast forward 14 months to March of 2021, when they landed a permanent home in the Fairlane Hotel after popping up at farmers’ markets and on the menus in a few local restaurants. On the menu here, you’ll find rotating flavors and schmears, bagel sandwiches, pretty pastries, and Stay Golden Coffee." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Google
This is one of our favorite places to go for yummy breakfast and coffee! The staff is always so kind and accommodating. Every single thing I’ve tried has been DELICIOUS. EVERY. SINGLE. THING. the atmosphere is clean and always friendly when we bring our toddler! Their menu always has new and intriguing combinations to try for bagels and coffee. If you haven’t been, you need to make a trip!

Grace L.

Google
One of my absolute favorite spots in town!! Sometimes so multiple times a week. Everyone is always so friendly and gives great recommendations. The bagels are the best in town, I’ve tried a lot of bagels here and these are my favorite and don’t even get me started on their coffee!! Chef’s kiss! They really take time to curate their menu and have created a great variety of options and seasonal rotations!

Google
New York style bagels have found themselves in Nashville! All the bagels tasted light, fluffy and fresh. From the savory lox bagel, to the french toast bagel (definitely get the maple pecan smear). and the staff puts a favorable “heap” of cream cheese on in. We’ll be taking some bagels home to share with friends. Plenty of seating and kids love the bench wall. Calm and welcoming atmosphere. Drip coffee was perfect, not too strong but still packing flavor.

Google
This place is delicious. Hands down, from the assortment of bagels to the freshest coffee everything is 10000/10. The staff is always amazing and handle the hungry crowds like pros. I come back every time I visit and I bring bagels home (that’s a 6 hour drive!). Wish I could move just to be in the same city. Will be back (again). (Delicious flavors every week. Bite me.)

Google
Reviews from me and my daughters: The food is good, and this isn’t one of those fast food places where you can only get three things. 5 stars-Alaia It’s really good, I like the pumpkin spice one (cream cheese), I like the circle wall outside. 5 stars -Evie We love spending mornings here, trying the different combos of bagels on the sandwiches or the different cream cheeses. The coffee is great and the people are always super kind. 5 stars. -Chike

Google
Bagels are DELICIOUS!! One of the only food places in Nashville that I leave thinking about the next time I’ll be back. The rosemary and sea salt bagel is 10/10. Only note is if you want it actually toasted, you need to ask for it EXTRA toasted. When they toast it, it’s more of just warming it up. Still great that way too though! Outside of the bagel, the feta cream cheese is absolutely perfect. The two together…a beautiful duo in your mouth.

Google
As you can see by the empty plates, your food will not disappoint. This place has a lovely atmosphere. The service was friendly and enthusiastic which always goes down well. The bagels were big and delicious so you might be taking half home for lunch. You’ll be called to collect your coffee from the barista up front and your food will be brought to your table, hot and freshly made. Can’t beat that kind of start to the morning. Definitely worth a visit and don’t be surprised if you become a frequent flyer 👍🏼 parking available out front or around the side of the building for a short walk through the complex directly to the front door.

Google
Nice outdoor space for the dogs, plenty of seating inside. Actual NY lox bagel was the best I've ever had! It was carefully crafted to perfection. Only complaint was I didn't see any bagels with salmon roe like in the front of the business Google photos.

Yelp
This bagel shop is an absolute gem! The bagels are fresh, perfectly chewy, and delicious every single time. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Their coffee is also really solid and offer seasonal drinks. The atmosphere is great whether you're looking for a cozy spot to get some work done or just want to meet up with a friend and catch up. It's comfortable, inviting, and never feels rushed. One of the coolest things is that they also partner with the library to offer bagel-making classes. such a fun and unique touch that really shows how much they care about the community. Highly recommend this place to anyone who loves good bagels and good vibes!

Yelp
Nestled not where Google maps has ever told me it was exists Bagelshop. It's right over in the section it looks like it isn't in - where it looks like it's residential. Google took me to the bowling alley - I submitted the correction, looks like they finally took it. Probably my second favorite bagel place in TN for the actual bagels, but maybe I'm in the minority here, I want a bagel and cream cheese, not a half tub of cream cheese with a bagel. I mean, great amount and all but damn, let the bagel breathe sister. Here's the part where I tell you I lived in NY and got fresh bagels and have a particular set of requirements for how they should be. This isn't quite it, but these are close. Not really my place or side of town, but nice to have when I'm out that way

Yelp
Came here for a quick pop in breakfast and it was so good and quick! I tried few menu items and can't wait to come back and try more! Delicious!

Yelp
The Benny is one of the best bagel sandwiches in town! I always get mine on the Rosemary Sea Salt bagel and add sausage. If you like a sausage egg and cheese, you will love this version! There can be a bit of a wait on weekends, but the staff does a great job of processing the orders quickly and getting food out to everyone. Even when I have thought that the line looked really long, it has never been too bad! This is great place to meet up with friends for breakfast!

Yelp
Incredible bagel sammies and coffee! I had one of the best bagels I've ever had. I got the New Yorker (lox) on a rosemary sea salt bagel with the dill cream cheese. It was absolute perfection. My latte was also delightful. The decor is gorgeous and artsy, definitely a mid modern vibe, and the music was great. Service wonderful. In sum, I absolutely love this place and wish I could teleport it to Colorado. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
The Bagels and Cream Cheeses here are delicious. Today was my first time here. I was intrigued by their "Spicy Everything Bagel," so I ordered one (not toasted) with Veggie Cream Cheese. It was delicious. The Spicy Everything Bagel here is not only a bit spicy, but the seasoning is on both the top and the bottom! And the Bagel has the right amount of snap and chew. Pairing the Spicy Everything with the Veggie Cream Cheese made me super happy. The staff were friendly and the latte I ordered was very good. There is a good amount of indoor seating and the entire restaurant vibe is casual. Their pastries also looked really good. I will definitely return soon and I highly recommend the Bagelshop in Donelson.

Yelp
I been following their story on Instagram - and unsuccessfully tried to visit one of their pop up shop locations. Then I visited their downtown location and fell in love with their bagels. I'm glad they now have a larger store front in Donelson. Had an amazing breakfast sandwich and iced coffee that was reminiscent of new York bagels!! 10 out of 10 would recommend!!!

Yelp
The perfect neighborhood bagel shop! If you are from up North like me and are picky about your bagels, Bagelshop won't let you down. Their bagels are solid, and their rotation of fun flavors and shmears keep it fresh. We are always greeted with a smile and friendly conversation when we come here, too. Make a day of it by stopping by the Donelson Library, going for a walk at Two Rivers Park, or shopping at Rick's Comics or the Game Cave!

Yelp
Amazing bagels! They are soft and chewy, everything you'd hope for in a bagel. I can't wait to go back and try more. The coffee was outstanding, I really like the bean blend they use. They have plenty of inside seating and a nice shaded patio area outside to enjoy when the weather is nice. I got The New Yorker on everything bagel with the feta and garlic schmear. I have no notes, I'm now obsessed with Bagelshop. You don't wanna miss this place.

Yelp
fresh & unique bagels daily! Coffees are delish and service is fast ! They are always coming up with the most fun combinations. Once a month they host a quiet book club where you can order mocktails/coffee and small bites. Super heartwarming and such a good time. Great way to meet likeminded people & enjoy some good food !

Paula P.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The cashier is very welcoming and ready to help. Very clean, with music in the background. The bagels are insanely delicious. We had the New Yorker and the special along with the yogurt bowl.
google avatar

Yelp
They have really yummy bagels with lox. I loved the coffee here. I am a foodie just traveling through Nashville to visit some friends and had to try a local bagel spot in their Neighborhood.. as a New England girlie who loves bagels-- I could see myself living here knowing there is a delicious bagel spot close by! Woohoo
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped into the Bagelshop to grab a quick breakfast before heading to the airport. I got the Bagelshop platter which was so delicious and I got a mocha latte with oatmilk which was the best coffee i had in awhile. If it wasn't because it got busy/the line was long I would have gotten one to go. I added this place to my list to return when I'm back in town. Such a great little Bagelshop and the inside was so clean and the vibe was perfect.

Yelp
I heard many things about this bagel shop and had the opportunity to finally make the way. I got two bagel (to share) one sweet and one savory - the avo and the fig with goat cheese. I was shocked when got my plate, I thought it would be a sandwhich but it was more of a opened faced bagel with toppings on each side, not sure if it would've been different if I asked from them to-go. Though it was good and great for sharing it would've been nice to know. The parking for this location was great, the ordering process was a breeze and the service was great. On a busy Saturday morning I was able to grab a table and not feel rushed to eat/drink my order. I do like this bagel shop but only would be back if I am in the area.

Yelp
Bagelshop has been on my list for quite some time now, and like most Nashville locals, it ended up being lost on the never-ending quest to "try this place out". Well I finally did it and the fast casual shop did not disappoint. I ordered The Benny with sausage which was the perfect pick after a holiday. You can choose your bagel and add a meat for extra cost. It's massive. The bagel itself is fresh and soft, and the sauce they use may have changed my life? Verdict is still out on that.. I walked in to order and only waited about 5 minutes before I was at the register. Even when they're busy, the team moves efficiently ensuring every visitor gets their bagel fix. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. If you're looking for a great bagel a smidge outside of the city (with ample free parking, hello!!!) take the quick trip to Donelson for Bagelshop. I'll be back soon to try one of their sweeter options. It's called balance!

Rachael B.

Yelp
I got The Benny with sausage on a spicy everything bagel and it was incredible! The bagel had that perfect balance of a crisp outer crunch with a soft, chewy center. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Located under The Flats apartments in Donelson Plaza next to the Dollar Tree. Good food and coffee, great music and good aesthetic. I was dissatisfied with my cappuccino , tasted very bitter and burnt. They were nice enough to replace it with a hot latte. Great service!
google avatar

Steven Y.

Yelp
They have honestly I think the best bagels in all of Nashville. I have been following them since 2020 when they got started. As a former NYer it is hard to find a good bagel and whether it is a LOX bagel, cream cheese, or some specialty like the Bourdain or Nashvillian. I have never been disappointed. I usually go with my daughter and wife at times. There is plenty of parking, the staff is great and the owners are great people.
google avatar

Megan V.

Yelp
Updating my review after being a regular customer for almost a year. Lately it seems like my bagels have been a little more inconsistent and that's always a bummer. Sometimes I get a huge bagel that has an inch of cream cheese and it's great, and there's mornings like today where I get a teeny tiny little bagel with a whisper of cream cheese. It would just be great to know what I'm getting for sure every time so I can order accordingly.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my go-to Saturday 7 am bagel pickup. I actually set the alarm I love this weekend routine in our neighborhood so much. I'm always met with hospitality in a smart vibe where I'm offered great food. And yeah, the bagels are chewy--they're adapted from the Montreal style to this market. Don't like it? Ok, then, find what works for you. But don't two-star troll on local businesses simply because they don't cater to your highly particular and refined taste. Drive-by Yelping isn't cool.
google avatar

Yelp
After they first opened, I wrote a review about how incredible everything is, except how overstimulating it gets in their space when it's busy (a 'me' problem) and how I wish they had outdoor seating. Flash-forward and now they have a cute little outdoor space. Not only do they have incredible food and drinks, kind staff, quick service, good music, and great vibes... they also truly value community feedback and.. just the community in general, which you can tell from the abundance of signage and events they hold at their space. Yelp
Darn, quite disappointed by my first Bagelshop experience. After making the drive out to donelson, specifically for the tuna melt sandwich. It did not come as described. I received my sandwich, and it didn't look like there was cheese in it. I asked the staff about it, and they said it was in there but white so it looks the same. However the whole point of a tuna melt is for the cheese to be melted, as it shows on their socials. And it definitely was just a cold piece of cheese. Also they ended up giving me their siracha bagel, which I didn't order. Hopefully I'll get to try it again and get something else instead. But not likely to be making the drive out just for this spot.

David W.

Yelp
Great little bagel shop! We shared a single bagel with lox and it was plenty. Definitely will come back on our next visit to the area.

Yelp
I really like this spot. Best lox sandwich in town, hands down. And super good people. Ordering online, I appreciate that you can sub cc flavors, edit the level of toast, and they even have an opinion scoop out some of the bagel. I add pickled red onion Now- I'm not going full 5 stars because I was disappointed by the vegan options. The vegan lox is oil based. I was really wishing it could be like a lox flavored carrot or something more "real" especially since the vegan cc is basically whipped oil. I sincerely do appreciate that they have such a full vegan menu, any I know I'm probably in the minority with my disappointment.

Yelp
A great spot in Donelson for Bagel Lovers! The Plaza with Scallion and Dill Schmear with Fresh Cucumber and Tomato was such a treat. Favorite Dishes: Asiago Bagel, The Plaza
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so happy to have this place in the neighborhood! The bagels and cream cheese never disappoint. This last time I tried the New Yorker (lox and cc) and a cappuccino -- both were 10/10. Employees are very nice and the vibe of the shop is nice to chat! I came several times over the summer on my breaks from work and they always got me my food quickly.
google avatar

Julia R.

Yelp
This is such a hidden gem! I had the avocado tartine and added turkey and I also tried my friend chicken salad bagel- both were so good! Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. Would def recommend!
google avatar

Joanna B.

Yelp
Best bagel in town! I do a build your own with the aoli which is amazing. A hefty portion for a good price. The atmosphere is super comfy and a great working space. The people are so helpful and happy. I crave bagel shop regularly

Jose C.

Yelp
Homemade vegan cream cheese!!!! It's so good! Had the vegan dill schmear on their everything bagel. Cold brew coffee tastes so much better than any chain coffee, very good flavor.
google avatar

Emily A.

Yelp
Bagels were very good but I've had better. The egg I thought was cooked to perfection! Very open nice space and workers were very friendly.
google avatar

Casey V.

Yelp
We love this bagel shop and especially enjoy the Friday specialty flavors! Also appreciate they have multiple vegan cream cheese options for my husband who is lactose intolerant. We always bring a dozen home with a tub of schmear. Have also attended silent book club and the atmosphere is super fun with delicious pizza bagel bites.
google avatar

E A.

Yelp
Was really good when they first opened, but unfortunately went downhill quickly. Bagels are never toasted even when specified "extra toasty boi", added hashbrowns option tastes like they were freezer burnt and then microwaved, and amount of cream cheese has become less. Also some staff- particularly 1, sucks. Give us something good donelson!!!!
google avatar

Shawn C.

Yelp
I truly wanted to love these bagels. I've waited with such anticipation for this shop to open, yet I doubt I'll visit again. I'm a New England girl who knows bagels! Unfortunately, I felt these were extremely dense. I ordered a dozen to take home. They were all different sizes and far too thick for my taste. I like a hard crust with a chewy middle. Ended up bagging them up and handing them to a homeless gentleman downtown.
google avatar

Jacqueline L.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday morning and the place was pretty busy. The line to order wasn't insanely long, maybe 6 customers before me. It took about 10 min to get to the front and place my order which isn't too bad. I ended up ordering a French toast bagel with mixed berry schmear. It took a good 25 min to get my order which I think is ridiculous for a bagel and schmear. I understand if you need to wait a bit longer for a sandwich that needs to be cooked but toasting a bagel and putting some schmear on it shouldn't take that long. It seemed like they didn't really have a good system of getting these orders out fast. I was really hoping that the bagel itself would redeem this place but once I opened my bagel, it was covered in everything seasoning. That definitely ruined the bagel for me because I was hoping for a sweet light French toast flavor with a hint of fruits but instead got hit with the powerful everything seasoning. It was on both sides of my bagel and even got into my schmear. I don't think they kept their workstation clean in between orders, or else this wouldn't have happened. Now the texture of the bagels: I prefer my bagels fluffy with a slightly crunchy outside and soft interior. This bagel was very dense and almost dough like. I'm not sure if I came on an off day, but I doubt I'll be back when there are many other places to get great bagels in Nashville.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
SALTED ROSEMARY!!!!!! These bagels are fantastic. Fresh, intriguing flavor choices and a variety of schmear options. The staff is genuinely helpful, and once your order is in, the service is fast. It might take awhile to get through the line--but know things are quick after that! Finding a seat is tricky when it's busy, but people are usually kind enough to give you a heads-up when they're about to leave so you can snag a spot. Their coffee is pretty tasty, too!
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
GREAT little local bagel shop! Bagels are ALWAYS on point!!! Loooove the spicy options! Super cute ambiance & tons of options. My iced latte was perfect, everyone was so helpful & kind! *DON'T LEAVE LESS STARS BECAUSE YOU THINK EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ALL THE "vegan" OPTIONS, super NOT COOL! They are not a "vegan" establishment so should not be rated on that. 5 stars + all the way!!! Support local!

Yelp
This was my first time going to the new Bagelshop in Donelson. I'm from Donelson and I was so glad to see that we had a Bagelshop! I ordered the Honeysuckle Latte, which uses their house lavender and honey syrup. I got mine iced with oat milk, and it was delicious! The lavender was more herbal than sweet, which I really enjoy! For my bagel, I got a bacon egg & cheese on everything! The bagel was nice and crunchy with the everything seasoning, and the eggs were fluffy and flavorful! The cheese and bacon they use goes perfectly! The service was very quick and friendly! Everyone was very attentive and warm. The inside is adorable! The lighting was nice with how many windows there are, and there's lots of space to sit down to read or do work. I took mine to go, but on a day where I have assignments to work on, I could totally see myself enjoying the space! They also have very cute branding, which I am a sucker for! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I love this little shop! It's right by the yoga studio I attend and it's so nice to have something new in the area. I love their bagels, the variety of spreads, and how generous they are with everything. The drinks are really good with some unique flavor combinations. My only complaint is that they didn't make the tiramisu schmear a permanent menu item- I definitely don't go as often since they took it off the menu, even tho everything else is really good. That was just *it* for me. The yogurt bowl leaves a LOT to be desired and I have several friends I can't bring with me bc the yogurt bowl is the only gf food offering, but I genuinely enjoy going in by myself and sitting to work and eat. Take-out is always super quick and they really move the line quickly as well. Highly recommend

Yelp
I finally got to try this coffeeshop/bagel shop today for lunch! It's been on my list for a while. This shop is super cute and the staff was very friendly during my visit. It's bright and open inside. This is great for to go orders or dining in. Definitely a place to get some work done if you need a change of scenery from your home or school. I loved the bagel sandwich I got. It was filling and delicious. I tried the chocolate covered strawberry with oat milk, which was a season drink on the menu. I definitely want to come back for other coffee items. There's a lot of parking here and it's aesthetically pleasing inside. This would be good for groups too as there are lots of tables and even games to play!

Nash T.

Yelp
I stopped by the bagel shop in Donelson today and ordered two sandwiches to go along with a mocha latte. The mocha latte was solid, and the woman who took my order was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. I watching my two sandwiches sit on the counter for nearly five minutes as several staff members walked by and ignored them. As I finally got up to ask if they were ready, one of the employees--who was making drinks and wearing an extremely unprofessional tank top--responded with immediate rudeness. His appearance, including visible armpit hair and skin conditions, was frankly off-putting in a food service setting. I wasn't being difficult--just trying to check on my order--but was met with attitude instead of basic courtesy. This interaction was shockingly unexpected and disappointing enough that I won't be returning. And I work in this plaza frequently!
google avatar

Yelp
Sooooo good!!!! I'll definitely be back to try more If you're in donelson and looking for awesome bagels & coffee go check them out!
google avatar

Becky Y.

Yelp
Had been excited that Donelson was getting a bagel shop. But after this visit, I probably will not be back. Service was very slow. You order at the counter which I certainly do not mind but it took quite a while for me one bagels with lox and cream cheese to arrive. Finally had to ask and it had just been sitting for a bit. The lox was only "fine," certainly not a reason to return. Bagel itself is OK but does not approach some of the other bagel shops that are only about 15 minutes away.

Jazz A.

Yelp
by far THE BEST bagels i have ever had in my life. store was so cute with lots of sitting (and standing) room. staff was more than kind. will definitely come back again if ever in town!

Amy K.

Yelp
I love this place so much. The staff is great and the food is amazing. I'm a bit of a bagel snob originally from NJ so it's great to find something to that reminds me of where I grew up. Recommend the Spicy Everything Bagel and the specialty seasonal coffee drinks
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Fresh bagels just like you picked them up at H & H bagels in NYC. Great service delivered to your table. Clearly of tables are quick. Outdoor seating is available too.

K R.

Yelp
The place is cute and the staff is friendly. The bagels~ not so much; very doughy. BUT I am also from NJ originally so I'm a tough critic. They were fresh and that's a good thing.
google avatar

Dominic L.

Yelp
Best bagels in town hands down! Staff is so chill and super nice. Rewards system is great, ambiance is laid back. Delicious schmear flavors. Great coffee too! Quickly became my favorite morning spot.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
This is the cutest little spot, with super friendly staff and bagels that are to die for!. I'm super picky...I visited for the first time this morning, and was warmly greeted and my order was taken promptly even though they were BUSY. I ordered a bagel with bacon and cheese, and it took about 5 minutes for them to prepare it for me. It was everything a bagel should be...crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, perfectly seasoned (I got jalapeno cheddar - the bagel of the day) with a generous amount of bacon and cheese. It came to me warm and melty and was fantastic.

Yelp
Food was really good, the bagels were pretty thick. Lines are kinda long but food is served fairly quick. The drink are okay .The vibe was a East Nashville, hipster vibe. Bagels are really good. Overall pretty good experience!!
