Bahia Bustamante Lodge is a unique place in the world. A place worth travelling long hours to, as its absolutely stunning. And a way of immersion in not only pure nature, but also in the history of Patagonia, as well as in very interesting geological and archeological sites. Its a complete experience. Adding up great food, great beds, super confortable and stylish infrastructure. Ran by its owners. Its truly a one of a kind journey. Deserves at least 5 days.

We have traveled the world with our four kids and been to many different places. I can say with confidence that this just might be the most magical place we have stayed. It is quite the trek from the airport and certainly not an easy place to get to with young kids and tired parents, however, it was absolutely worth it. The staff and guides are exceptional. The attention to detail was unmatched. As a designer myself, I totally appreciated the "vibe" that they have certainly put so much time and effort into. We stayed in their newest renovated spot, the original house next to the main lodge and it was comfortable, beautiful, and the perfect amount of space for our family of 6. It is truly an "off the grid" feeling which, if that is your idea of perfection (it is ours), you will be in heaven. It's beautiful and full of adventure. We took a historical tour and saw the most incredible collection of skeletons and bones/shells etc. Our guide, Nye, became a good friend and it was truly like being on a family field trip--we learned so much and she was excellent with our kids and all their questions. It was so engaging. All the guides that we interacted with were just really great people and so helpful and kind. I must have asked a million times if we were going to see penguins, and now I laugh at myself, since there are about 500,000 penguins you can see. We saw whales one evening on the boat safari--it was pure magic. The wild life we saw was next level. |Also, the food was the best we had our entire trip in Argentina. It was creative and delicious. Each meal is curated perfectly and even our pickiest eaters enjoyed everything. The bread was to die for and the desserts were incredible. We did the all inclusive with the meals, and we were so glad we did! |Our most special memory was the New Years Eve dinner they prepared in the game room. We will remember that night forever. The other guests were so friendly and kind. The owner, Matias, was a special human. We were delighted that we got to meet him and his family and that just added to the charm of this place. I hope some day we can return and share with our extended family. If you are hesitant to make the journey--I 100% would recommend pushing through and making this one of your top bucket list places to visit while in Argentina. I cannot say it enough, but the staff and service are so incredible. Thank you, Bahia Bustamente Lodge, for a magical memory for our family that we will never forget.

Andrea and the service was incredible. The rooms were basic but each tour was fantastic... highly recommend the tide pools and secluded beaches (could be a world wonder). Also the navigation tour is amazing and also the tour of the penguins up close is great especially for kids. All around an amazing experience.

Set on the Atlantic Coast amid an amazing landscape and far from the disturbances of the modern world. This makes for an experience available in just a few places in the world. Add friendly staff, excellent guides and food equivalent to a 4 star restaurant and you feel you have landed in a dream. You are treated like family not like guests. The small staff means you that within a day everyone knows you and what you like. If you like wildlife and getting away from it all without having to sleep in a tent a d walk for miles this place is for you.

Bahia Bustamante Lodge is one of the most exceptional places I have ever visited. There is something about the place that permeates the spirit and leaves one in awe of the absolutely vast, sweeping land- and seascapes, seemingly barren at first, yet abundant with life. This is a place to come to in order to catch a glimpse of the miracle that is our planet, and to comprehend what we are losing. |The privately owned reserve is far away from everything, and not too easy to get to. Which is good. It means that those who make the pilgrimage to Bahia Bustamante most likely are already aware of the unique experience it offers. |The lodge compound itself is a former village, a “company town”, once dedicated to the harvest of kelp. Admittedly it looks a bit humble, set as it is in such a huge, dramatic landscape. But that is exactly what gives it “Hygge”, simple and comfortable without pretense. |The guest cabins are lovely, and feel like home. And the restaurant is remarkable. They have a truly talented chef, I think my meals at Bahia were some of the best I had in Argentina. When it came time for excursions to see wildlife, the two guides on duty during my stay were incredible! So informative and passionate about what they do, and well aware of what a magical little corner of the world they are in. |My stay at Bahia Bustamante is an experience I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life. |And to all my friends there- World Cup 2022! Viva Argentina! 🎉🎊🍾⚽️

We will never forget our four days at Bahía Bustamante Lodge. It is quite remote, and we drove four hours from Trelew to arrive. The scenery during the last hour along the private gravel road is stunning. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by Matías and immediately felt relaxed and knew it was a special place. Every day we walked along the stony beach photographing birds, including Lesser Rheas (like small ostriches) who wander through the grounds. Matías kindly helped me identify birds I had photographed, and told us about the history of Bahía Bustamante. The organized activities were fabulous. Our guide, Cande, was a superb naturalist with a biology degree, who showed us hundreds of nesting seabirds, dozens of Magellanic Penguins, and over a thousand South American Sea Lions when we went by boat near small islands. It was thrilling! We also loved hiking through the spectacular canyon with just one other guest, and visiting the penguin island at low tide. The food was delicious, and I appreciated the chef taking into account my lifelong vegetarianism. Our rustic room had a spectacular view of the ocean, and electricity just for long enough to recharge batteries. If you are interested in wildlife, don't miss the beginning of their museum of skeletons of marine mammals and birds. Thank you to Matías, Cande, and all the staff for an unforgettable visit!

My wife and I chose Estancia Bahia Bustamante because we were looking for an unusual experience, having stayed in many estancias before in Argentina, and we were not disappointed. Between the flight from Buenos Aires and the car rental, it is neither inexpensive to get to, nor a quick trip. On the drive on RN 3 from the airport in Trelew, traffic was almost exclusively trucks, with few cars. On the last 45 minutes on a dirt road, it's likely to see no more than a car or two in either direction. But that makes it special. We were told that roughly half the guests are from Argentina, half from North America, and half from Europe. Our accommodations were very spacious and comfortable, facing the ocean, which was less than 100 metres away. The staff were all terrific. The estancia is immense in size. Our guide, Marina, was wonderful and we very much enjoyed the tour of the settlement, which housed up to 500 people when the commercial seaweed business was operating between the early fifties and twenty or so years ago, but whose building are now mostly unused. We had wonderful excursions to the penguin island (accessible by foot at low tide) , the peninsula, and the petrified forest. (Due to a tendency to get sea sick, we did not take the boat ride to another island full of penguins.) While there is a reluctance to take inexperienced horseback riders, we were very fortunate to have Mathias, the grandson of the founder of the settlement and the person now managing the lodge (as well as the sheep farming on the estancia) take us for a terrific, early morning ride along the beach, which was a highlight of our stay. Jogging along the coast line is easy to do. The food was excellent and was prepared gluten-free/Celiac-friendly. Sightings of guanacos, rheas, and maras are plentiful, The price for staying at this estancia is relatively very high, compared to other estancias, but no doubt, this is because of its remoteness. We were convinced to buy a US$100 bottle of wine at our first dinner (with the unused portion saved for subsequent meals.) We later ordered two glasses of red wine at US$7.00 per glass and that was just as good. Note that the electricity is turned off at night and a battery pack to charge iPads and cell phones comes in very handy. All in all, our stay was great and we have wonderful stories to tell.

Bahia Bustamante was once a small village , now a lodge. The main building with lounge and restaurant is located in the former grocery store. Most rooms/cottages have ocean view. We had the pinguin cottage which is very spacious with living room, two bedrooms and bath room. Very good food at the restaurant. Nice excursions in small groups to bird islands, pinguin island (very close to pinguins without disturbing them) , tour of the peninsula … Very nice staff and guides
