Just home after a 2 week holiday for a family of 5, what can I say, just wow!!! The hotel, location and and staff were amazing. Our son was sick for 1 day, too much excitement and sun and the staff were brilliant, offering anything we wanted to support and help. So much to see and do. It was stunning, beautiful and I’m in awe of everyone working there. Nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone of any age. Just perfect

My family of 3 + our friends family of 4 just got back from Mexico last night . Unfortunately , we choose to stay at this resort . It is really hard to see where to begin . Let me start with the rooms - Rooms are from 1970s with lots of mold and spider webs around , air conditions either doesn't work or some rooms ac doesn't stop it is like -10 in the room . You are forced to open the balcony room to allow some heat in the rooms . We changed our rooms twice on our second room , it started leaking on the ceiling , FYI it did not even rain a lot when we were there . Food - Buffet food are same for breakfast / lunch and dinner . It seems like they only change two item per meal and there you go . I don't even want to talk about the line up to enter the buffet let alone with the quality of food . I am not a picky person , i technically eat anything softer than a rock , but I was having hard time to find things to enjoy . You do the math . + All they have for the kids menu is fries and spaghetti that is it , we asked for a simple natural yogurt , however they only have fruit flavored yogurt which doesn't taste like yogurt . Pools are okay however if you don't wake up at 6-7 am to reserve you spot with some sort of personal item / towel . You can not get a chair by 9:30 everything is taken . This tells me that they over book the place . Beach area are nice however their service for drink at the beach bars are super slow . We could not find any one to ask for drinks at the beach area , pool locations are better with the service however you might need to be a little on the heavy side when it comes to tips . We were tipping the waiter $5-10 for first round of drinks to make sure we were getting a good service . It worked well . Bahia Privileges members is another level of bull shit you guys can see it here . If you have children with you , you can not enter the Privileges area of any kind . You need to ditch your kids to take advantage of the privileges area which are not really privileges in my opinion . Last but not least , there are some lovely people who work here but majority of the staff is miserable and they don't want to be there . I probably got smile from 2-3 people during 1 weeks stay . Not staying here again , I advise you guys to stay way from this resort , if you don't want to waste your money and valuable time.

We returned to this beautiful resort in less than a year – the first time we've ever chosen to revisit the same place. It’s hard to say what we love most: the stunning nature, the comfortable accommodations, the fantastic restaurants, or the hardworking, always-smiling staff. Speaking of which, on our first morning, we searched for and found our favorite waiter, Manuel. Just like last year, we made sure to sit in his section for both breakfast and lunch. He is always cheerful, kind, and even teaches us Spanish. This resort is highly recommended – we can’t wait to return!

This resort never disappoints. While the rooms are getting somewhat dated they are always clean. If you need anything just ask and it’s there in a flash. Husband wasn’t feeling well and they phoned the room twice to see if he needed anything…chicken soup, water etc. The thing I would like to highlight is the amazing waiter service at the main buffet. Eric (a.k.a. Speedy) is AMAZING!!! Never lets you run out of coffee/mimosas/water…genuinely cares for each and every person. 5 stars for Eric!!!! Beach and pool area also nice and clean.

Bahia Principe is amazing! We were greeted by the chef Jezie and the hostess Maria, who explained the types of food and the specials prepared daily. The experience is great! We love it so much we've come back 3 times since. Highly recommend. Have to make an edit: Do not use the Coming 2 service if you can help it. They did not do their job of ensuring people get into their vans. Our experience, they hid the van behind a pillar, waited for a minute, took a picture and left, leaving my family and two other couples to find our own way back to the airport. And this is a service you pay for! Absolutely pitiful. Bahia, you need to find a better source for transportation. These people are far to unreliable. Additionally, there never seems to be enough wait staff in the evenings at the lobby or behind the lobby, and the bars seem understaffed as well, sometimes waiting 15-20 minutes to get your order taken.

We stayed here in July 2024 and overall I came away feeling robbed. This is no way a four star (let alone 5 star) resort. If you think it is you must have your eyes closed.. The rooms are dated, smelt of damp. Air conditioning throughout was poor in particular the sports bar which is a great place but hugely let down. The food is ok, but I was in Mexico and fully expected enchilada’s or burritos. In fact it was pizza or pasta dishes. How traditional. If you are planning on a trip to Mexico look elsewhere.||What I would say is the beaches are wonderful and the beach bar is lovely. The staff are outstanding but I must make special mention to Edgar, he is a dream. Look out for him during breakfast or lunch if you are booked to go. What a delightful member of staff and one of the best I have experienced.

We visited in October 2024 for 7 nights. We stayed in the Adult only block, and had a lovely view on the ground floor overlooking the Kapok restaurant and the infinity pool. The hotel was spotlessly clean! The food was really good. |Unfortunately when we were here there was a tropical storm for only had 2 days of sun, so we only ate at the Katok al a carte and the Indian Al a carte as we wanted to avoid the rain. Both al a carte were nice! The Jerk chicken in Katok was lovely! Buffet was nice and had staples for fussy eaters. Equally the snack bar was nice too! the drinks in this hotel have to be the best I've ever had in an all inclusive hotel! So much choice. ||The rooms were cleaned every day, sometimes twice. we were a bit disappointed with the mini bar service, we tipped £20 at the start of the holiday in hopes of getting a good service, and would have tipped each day too, but it was never replenished so we ordered more drinks via room service instead. ||The staff here are very hard working and eager to please, it's just a shame that we didn't get the nice weather as we ended up spending most of the holiday in the Sports Bar playing Uno.

Gretel and Abbigail were so much fun and made our trip very enjoyable. They provided the entertainment with enthusiasm!! Hector our waiter at the poolside bar was sooooo sweet! Enjoyed our stay!! Food was good and we love these sprawling properties so we can get in some good walks. Tulum is a must to walk to for shopping. Building 83 concierge staffing were top notch!!

Yelp
Overall, it was a decent experience at Akumal. We booked through Expedia and came with a rented car, so we didn't have to deal with taxis. They have free parking. The system is janky. The website gave us errors after we booked our 3 restaurants. The phone in our room didn't work. They have trolleys to get around the resort and to go to the other ones starting at 7 am. Staff were nice, and we had cash on hand to tip at the bar, buffet, restaurants, and for the shuttle drivers. They speak English. When we received our room key, the system didn't register immediately. Staff came to help immediately. They have so many pools and bars. I enjoyed the scenery. All inclusive guests must wear their bracelets at all times. The drinks and food are ok. You get your money's worth. All restaurants have welcome drinks. Some of the food was salty or too sweet. The room was humid but mostly felt clean. The mini fridge has some drinks and snacks that can be restocked. Hot water and AC worked fine. There's a safe. There were a few little ants that got in. The lobby bathroom was gross sometimes. It was hot and some stalls didn't have toilet paper.

Yelp
On first impression when we checked in I would give this place a 5 star. It was beautiful. The decor and scenery was spectacular. The beaches were great, although a bit rocky in areas, but the activity and entertainment staff was excellent. There was always something going on to keep you busy whether it's an afternoon foam party, shows in the evening, fire dancers, and silent disco parties. The Ala Carte restaurants were pretty tasty, but making reservations was an absolute nightmare especially if you're trying to get more than 2 rooms together. As soon as soon as you're able days before you arrive go in a make your dinner reservations. The app as well was pretty low functioning and hard to navigate. As you dive a bit further into the resort you start to notice a few unpleasant things, such as the constant construction in the adults only area, many animals around the dining areas, and some units in our group had brown-ish water from the taps. The buffet food was good, but got a bit tiring after 5 days. Another thing that was unpleasant is that they make it difficult for you to get your own transportation outside the resort. They don't allow taxi pickups, so they try to rope you into paying a ridiculous amount for a "collective van" that holds 12 passengers when you only need a small car for 2. In the end, we ended up walking to our destinations against the advise of the collective drivers saying that our destination was 3 hours drive into the jungle. I knew better, so I didn't pay attention to them. The cenoté we were going to was a 20 minute walk up the road from the main entrance to the resort where a shuttle will come and pick you up. Beware of the scams. All in the experience was pleasant, but it would've been nicer had we had more access to leave the resort and explore.

Yelp
I have been coming to Jamaica for some time, and I have to admit there needs to be plenty of changes to the country even more so since hurricane Beryl came thru. My travel group is well over 120 plus, and a grown and sexy set of folks who love to discover new places and sample local food. To close out, I was not pleased with the visitor experience staff. They were rude and downright incompetent. My wife wanted a massage, which she did enjoy, but the hoops we went thru to set that up were ridiculous. Plus, the Bahia App is worthless and not very stable, just like the internet at this resort. I would recommend another resort that is more courteous and will make sure you return. Semper Fi.....

Yelp
This is a tough review. We enjoyed our vacation but only because our newly renovated room and our swim up suite were amazing! I'm giving 3 stars because of the room, if I had a different room it would definitely be a 2 star hotel experience. The drinks are watered down and terrible. The buffets and restaurants were not good. We are foodies and we need good food to have a good vacation. I figured out ways to try to enjoy the buffets better but really just avoided it for lunch and dinner. The beach restaurant tikalito is the best option for lunch as they will make you freshly made food. I wish there were more Mexican dishes offered...shocking lol. But we really wanted more Mexican food in Mexico. Lots of fried things and only one type of taco meat (Al pastor-which was pretty much all we ate for lunch). The hotel itself is beautiful. Great landscapes. Loved the creatures everywhere. The swim up suite was well worth the money. We spent most of our time here. It was gorgeous and private. Much better for couples without kids to get an escape from the rest of the resort. I did not like the activities. We have been to other resorts with way better activities. First off finding the activities was impossible. Even staff didn't direct us properly and we missed them. The only activity I enjoyed which was not planned was Zumba at the beach. The shows were ok. I was upset because they purposely made the show boring if they wanted you to BUY a bigger show that night. Which leads to the most annoying thing about this hotel...solicitation. I did not pay tons of money for ALL INCLUSIVE to be solicited EVERYWHERE I went to spend more money. It was absolutely ridiculous. There were good things about this resort but we know that our money is better spent elsewhere so we will not be returning.

Yelp
Went here for about a week for a birthday trip and really mixed feelings about it. The thing I loved the most and was the saving grace was the staff. Every single staff member we encountered was friendly and provided great service. The issue was they were seemingly understaffed maybe. Restaurants were impossible to get dinner reservations for but then you would go and half the restaurant would be empty every time not matter what time we went for dinner. As if they didn't have enough staff to service the tables. You always had to wait forever for a drink at the bar. At one point I was waiting 15 minutes because there just wasn't a bartender at the swim Up bar. Again I don't think this is the fault of the bartenders or servers they were always very kind. It's just there's not enough staff. The pools were lovely and the entertainment team provided a great time and a day full of activities. Caesar on the entertainment team was the absolute best! The rooms were a bit outdated but they were fine enough for what we needed. Akumal is seemingly advertised as adults only that's why we picked it but it's not. Only certain areas are. The staff on the trolleys were always accommodating. The place is enormous and we finally somewhat figured it out by day 3. Alcohol options are limited but you make the best of what's given. The buffet food quality varies from hotel to hotel. Akumal was better of the hotels on the property but even still I've been to resorts with better food. Breakfast was the best time to hit the buffet. Most of the portions for dinner were very small depending on the restaurant. Also if you liked something you couldn't get a second order. Other all inclusive hotels I've been to you could order as much as you want, even at the restaurants. As for the nightlife, many of the shows are an up charge not expensive but I never experienced that before. The hacienda has a DJ at night which was decent and it was on the resort property so it's a nice option if you don't want to go into town. So all in all I had a good time because I was with my best friends. This was my first time at an all inclusive in Tulum but I've been to better all inclusive resorts in other places. Shout out to all the hardworking employees. Please remember to tip. They're hustling out there.

Yelp
Heres the deal, their location and grounds are absolutely beautiful!! The pools and beach areas are gorgeous and just as pictured online and on social media. The palm trees and grounds are well maintained. The checkin was very easy and so was getting dinner reservations at the concierge. I felt safe on the property and the facilities were spotless. The employees work tirelessly to maintain the facilities. They are so friendly and happy to help or answer any question that you may have. Although we didn't spend much time in room, the bed was so hard and the pillows were sooooo flat. The room was a little dated but not terrible. Our room did smell Moist and mildewy. Luckily, my Travel-mate knew to call the front desk and ask for a dehumidifier, which they brought to our room promptly. The downside to the mildew fragrance in the room is that my entire suitcase smelled as such when I got home. Our room was cleaned daily but I experienced gnats or flies at night, I dont know how but I had to use bug spray at bed time. Our bathroom was updated and it was nice. I was very underwhelmed by the food offerings at buffet. Food was very repetitive and not freshened often. Swim up bars are great and so were the bartenders and pool tenders. They offer lots of drinks but I have to think their alcohol is diluted. I watched them Pour it into my cup and one could not taste the alcohol or feel it. Word of caution, their front area steps and their pool areas are slippery, so are the steps at the entrances into the pool. I often cringed going up and down the steps around the pool/sidewalks near pool bec they are marble of some type and very slippery when wet, which is often. Hour and a half commute from cancun airport to the resort in a private transfer. Overall a solid three star facility. Glad that I came and experienced.

Yelp
The number one redeeming feature of this resort was the newly renovated swim-up suite that I stayed in with my wife. If the review was based solely on the room this would be a 4 or 5 star review. Sadly, after the room, everything else falls firmly into the 2 star category. I have been to multiple all inclusives and this one probably takes the trophy for most mediocre food. When I go on vacation, food is a major selling point for me. I want to eat well when I am on vacation. This is not the place for eating well. Also, the beach wasn't the best either. It was very rocky, to the point that I was almost willing to just skip it all together rather than nearly fall and cut my feet while trying to get out into the water. It was very cool to see the fish and sea life. I will say that was a fun experience. Other issues that I had were that the coffee machines seemed to always be down, other machines weren't working, overall upkeep was lacking. The service wasn't that great either. There are much better places to visit for around the same price point. I could give this place three stars, but if you are going to pay the prices that we paid for this trip, we expect food and service that is better than the typical McDonalds or fast food. If anything, I would have preferred to have the option of McDonald's instead of eating their food. And that goes for the buffets and the sit down restaurants. The only restaurant that I thought was worth it, was the Japanese teppanyaki. Other than that, you can skip this place.

Yelp
No water pressure or hot water multiple days. Also, it's scalding hot or cold. When water is available it smells like gasoline. AC is extremely loud. Buffet food is subpar. Rooms are outdated. Staff at check in are rude. At Dolce Vita restaurant-good food, but server made an irritated comment about one of our family members having allergies to the food. Guest services seems annoyed to help. We asked if they could help us find a reservation at one of the a la carte restaurants and she told us we should have come in the morning of check in for the week. So we got scolded. I felt two years old again. :/. Each morning the cleaning crew talk loudly outside the room, so sleeping in is not a choice. At night other guests can be heard as if they are in your room. Soundproofing the rooms would be nice. Grounds staff and entertainers are friendly. Will not return.

Yelp
The decision made by one of my friends, The resort was fabulous, beautiful pool and honestly lovely shore line. The main Restaurant had a great opportunity of good deal of foods, extremely excellent and nicely managed. Staff were polite and attentive . Super happy with my experience.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this resort out after many hours of research. We got a good deal for our family of nine. However, sometimes you get what you paid for. We stayed at the Bahia Principe for 4 days. Our first half of the trip was at The Fives in Playa de Carmen. After a long trip to the resort from the Cancun airport (about and hour and half drive) we were excited about jumping into the pool while we waited for our rooms to be ready. We got into the pool and noticed right away how cloudy the water appeared. I saw a paper towel with a brown streak across it and quickly jumped out of the water. Not too long afterward, my kids started pointing out that a family had their toddler in the water without swim diaper or swimsuit. We left for the beach. The beach was extremely rocky. You must have water shoes or you will probably end up cutting your feet. The water was a beautiful blue. The only good experience that came from staying here was learning that the local fish like to eat bananas. If you feed them bananas a whole school of fish will come right around you to get in on some of the sweets. Sadly, one day our time at the beach had to be cut short because there was a lady who decided to go topless. When my husband asked about this on the Facebook group it created a huge discussion on how prude Americans are and "get over it". I am sorry, if a resort wants to allow this they should have an adults only section. But if you see kids around you shouldn't be showing the girls. My two cents... We had three rooms that were all right by each other. The rooms were a decent size but had bug issues. Not on the beds but just on the floor. My son was excited about taking a bath with jet streams but when he pushed the button to get the bubbles going a million little black bugs of various sizes swam out into the water instead. There was also the occasional power outage at mid day with no advance warning of "the building needing to have some regular maintenance service done". Then there was the rudeness of the servers. We were not allowed to go to the buffet in our bathing suits unless we had cover ups. Which most of us had but because my daughter had shorts over her bathing suit that did not qualify and we were sent away. Another time, we were told that our son had water droplets on his leg so he was "Too Wet" to be seated. The quality of the buffet food was poor. Their breakfast sausage tasted old and rubbery. We soon discovered that the better buffet was at the Bahia Principe Tulum, which was a short golf cart ride away. The Tulum buffet and servers were a lot better for some reason. There was a little arcade that was fun to visit but people were not allowed to go there in the daytime. If you wanted to play in the arcade or play pool it had to be after 4pm. I don't understand the rigid rules about this. Especially if parents are with their children. At the Tulum resort there is a water play area that was really nice. Overall, there was some shade options available for guest but if you don't get there early you will not be able to take advantage of them. Another important tip should you decide to try this place out is to make your reservations for the different restaurants as soon as you get there or the day before you get there online. We tried to do this but their website didn't allow us to do so. Which made us have late dinner reservations for most of the nights we stayed there. The fine dining was really good. The only other memorable experience we had was watching their magic show. Some of the shows are free others have additional fees but are affordable.

Yelp
The staff is awesome. Especially Cristian, i hope I spelled his name correctly at the front desk. He was soooo helpful when he probably didn't have to be. We was told the public relations desk would be open at 9am, we got there around 8am becuase we had an excursions planned. NOTE: You must make reservations for dinner or u will have to eat at the buffet. So after we ate breakfast around 915ish we explained to Cristian we needed to try to make reservations be we left. He saw no one was at the desk and could not tell exactly when that person would arrive, so he made the reservations for us. That was awesome because no other front desk employee did so they just kept pointing to the empty desk!! Thanks to him we had reservations and we did not miss our excursions, thanks!!! Overall it's a very beautiful and large property which I enjoyed alot. You can tell its an older property but it's very well maintained. The pools are everything super clean and very large. At no point did I feel crowded even at the infinity pool. The views are great all over this place!! Now the down side....even though there was plenty of food it was not all good. You can tell the main buffet and the restaurants is where they take serious pride...kind of. The smaller buffets not so much. For the smaller buffets its replenishment of items, the quality and the omelet makers...omelets should not be brown!?!?! The chicken nuggets taste like Styrofoam...even kids didn't eat them. The churros however were great if you got them straight from the kitchen!! At the restaurants all the service was great/outstanding! However, the food was ok and the plating was not consistent. If 2 people order the exact same thing the plates should come out look identical. Which means the kitchen was rushing, no one looked the order over b4 it left the kitchen, and the waiter/server did not notice either. Overall I really enjoyed my and will probably try other Bahia resorts becuase of this one.

Yelp
This is my second time at this resort and I love it here. There are a couple of reasons for giving it a 4 and not 5. Buffet food is never really hot. They have it under heaters so it's warm, but not hot. Also isn't very organized. The second reason is because their app sucks so we couldn't check in online and couldn't make alacarte reservations in advance. When we got here and made them there were only a few options which was unfortunate. What I love. The staff. They take a lot of crap from rude customers and still work with a smile on their face. Be nice people. The workers aren't indentured servants. This is their job, yes, but they are humans. The grounds are well kept and so pretty. The on-site entertainment is great. They have stuff going on during the day and at night. You never really have to leave the resort! The rooms could use updates, but all in all they are just fine. Bed, ac, working tub. Perfect place for sleeping and getting ready. Ordered room service and they were quick at night. Ordered extra beverages and they were as well! Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
I TRULY don't know how this place has such good ratings... The place itself is okay - pools are pretty and the food is not bad. However, the lack of communication, the inconvenience and the cleanliness are what knocked this resort down to a straight 1. To begin, no one in this hotel communicates with one another. The hotel is separate from the call center and they claim that only the call center has power to update anything with your reservation. The website and app are soo janky - constantly giving error pages or showing multiple versions of a page every time you click into it. When you try to communicate with the call center prior to the trip, it's extremely difficult to get in contact with them because the call automatically drops after you're on hold for 10 minutes and there is always a hold. I had checked in to my booking ahead of time through my Bahia Principe and yet the hotel had so much trouble finding my reservation upon arrival. i had initially booked on Expedia and canceled, but rebooked through their website. They could only find my Expedia reservation and kept telling me it was canceled. My other friend had her booking "auto-canceled" (whatever that means). They didn't communicate anything to her and she only found out because I had told her to try checking in online earlier. How can you just cancel someone's booking without any notice? The website really advertises how nice the place is through photos and all inclusive deals. However, the "all inclusive" is such a scam. The only food places that are all inclusive are the buffet and like snack bars/food trucks. All of the actual restaurants are considered "premium" and depending on how long you stay, you only have access to 1-3 premium meals a week. They say you have to make reservations, but the reservations are all booked days before you arrive... The restaurants are super empty all evening. They essentially save so many spots for people to pay $120 per couple for a dinner instead of giving spots to all inclusive guests. I've never been to an all inclusive hotel that finds sooo many ways to charge you and to have basically nothing included in your "all inclusive" deal. No one understands what is happening anywhere in the hotel. They'll tell you that the spa or food truck is open and you'll walk across the resort only to find out that it is closed that day. While this all sounds bad, what got me the most was that the rooms are straight DIRTY. There are stains everywhere on the floor and the showers look like there's mold growing on the handles and the bottom. Our sheets/towels had stains and they don't even change the sheets when they come for cleaning. We noticed because all of the stains were in the same exact spot. We had to call to get it switched and the new sheets had stains as well. Overall, I would not recommend this to anyone regardless of how great a deal it seems because it truly is not worth the headache.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this resort. I'm not sure I will be back. I was really disappointed with the room and the buffet. The room is a typical 3 star hotel room. The beds were rock hard and the pillows were flat. The bathroom was upgraded and I did enjoy that. We had to request a de-humidifier for our room because it was humid and icky like a basement. I've lived on an island before and our home was not this humid. I'm not sure if something can be done about that. It was only moldy and mildewy in the room. (No where else on the property) The buffet food was disappointing and the same thing everyday. It wasn't kept warm by the warming lights. I did enjoy the omelet station where they would make you a made to order omelets. I wasn't impressed with most of the a la carte restaurants. I will say that Los Coralles was the only good one we ate at. (steak house on the beach) We spent most of our time at the infinity pool and the swim up bar. The bar tenders there were great but the alcohol has to be watered down. I watched them pour large amounts of liquor into the drinks but then the drinks weren't strong at all. I don't think I would recommend this hotel.

Vicky D.

Yelp
This place sucks. the food is awful. you have only 3 tickets to go to the "other options" which are past hard to get. Funny thing, yes this did happen to me, I went to the gift shoot and was forced to pay for a dress that I didn't rio but someone else did. so $250 later I am the one having to deal with that b/c the hotel"manager" sided with the jerk clerk. I'm happy to own my part. I'be done it oLDSCO plenty of times. BUT never to this level. how hars ia if to sileer o

Yelp
I love Bahía Príncipe and have been coming for years (10+ times!). The food and drinks are excellent but this past trip I did notice there were quite a few differences post pandemic. There wasn't enough food out at the buffets for lunch and they were very slow to refill as things ran out. The service also wasn't as great as it had been in the past for repeat customers (eg. no golf cart service was offered, front desk staff wasn't overly helpful, etc). The beach also was filled with rocks which was not typical. That said, the sit down restaurants are phenomenal and the quality of the resort overall is still fantastic for the price.

Yelp
We checked in today. So far it has been a terrible experience!! Check in time: March 24, 2023. 8:40 pm , Front desk agents: Robin and Francisco I have checked in online before we get into the property. Yet it took Robin 30 minutes to assign a room. They did not give us any maps nor provided any information on WiFi, restaurants, bars, reservation, etc. We requested honeymoon welcome package but Robin said they don't have time to do it and we can ask for it again tomorrow. While wondering around to find a restaurant, an employee gave us shortcut direction but warned us that "THERE ARE SNAKES ON THE PROPERTY". We thought maybe we misunderstood him, and double checked it with a few other employees and they all confirmed that there are snakes on property but TYPICALLY they don't go inside the rooms! They gave us room 5604. HVAC was super noisy and room was extremely smelly. We refused it. So they changed the room with room 7514. It smells like mold but at least it's HVAC is working. This room is very far from shore, restaurants and everything else. I assume we should hike for a while to get to the facilities. Rooms are outdated! We don't recommend this property for a vacation!

Yelp
Don't fall into trap and buy prepay vacation from Privilege club. I bought a package and paid $4400. I am willing to sell for a fraction. Using my weeks and try to make a reservation, they make me buy the all inclusive option. They just give you the room and make it up charging for for all inclusive at $147 per night per person (1-29-2004). When you add the $$, you realize you could buy the same package from Expedia or hotel.com or other sites for a cheaper price and didn't have to prepay ($4400 in my case) any thing. Now, they also charge you for membership each year. Mine was about $235 and each year they increase it by about %8-%10. The whole thing is a sham. Be smart just get out of the sale room and pay as you go.

Yelp
i wish i could give 0 stars, call to redbook, my reservation to s different date or even get credit, they refused both, ans then had the nerve to inform me that they will not even cancel the reservation at all! so im paying foe a trip that im not even going to be at. you would think that they would have gave credit so i can come a different day, but that's how they treat the costumers, its all about monday

Yelp
We would give them negative stars if we could. Such CRAP! We booked the highest end room available in March '21 for a stay in November '21. $1900 for 7 nights with transportation from Cancun and back plus 2 options for excursions or things. Well COVID wiped out '21 as well as much of '23. We finally agreed on 11/28/23 to 12/4/23. We were assured all was set to go. 7 days before we were to arrive we were finally able to pre-check in however the extras were not showing so I called. They assured me they would make things right. They never did, we had to spend $250 to get down there & back, no excursions & the room was total CRAP! It was in the adult section overlooking the adult pool area but no king bed as promised & at 8 PM the construction was going on at full force throughout the night and would be for our stay. We were told the property was fully booked but they could move us to a lower class room but we were forced to sign a letter accepting the downgrade with no compensation. We did but in our signature we wrote "under extreme duress." Our choice was to stay in the individual full beds and listen to saws, hammering and so on all night OR take the downgrade. The management continued to give us the run-around daily on "making things right" but never did. The room we did stay in was anything but "Luxury" as it had cracks in the ceiling and so on. The food was only "so-so" as well. After leaving "Daniel" the property GM promised to make things right for us with a credit on our next Bahia stay but all we get from him is the sound of crickets chirping.......nada........bunch of total crap.

Yelp
My favorite of the Bahia resorts in Mexico, and you really can't beat the price for an all inclusive resort. I have stayed here 3 times now. Everyone is nice and friendly and helpful. BEAUTIFUL views, beaches and pools. They maintain the resort really well: I saw people cleaning the pools, painting a bridge, trimming shrubs, and mowing. Delicious food at the buffets and restaurants, fresh fruit and a large variety of food types. Drinks available pretty much anywhere you go in the resort. They also have a ton of fun activities to do all the time- we participated in volleyball, Zumba, yoga, and my favorite new activity- SILENT DISCO so much freaking fun!!! Big shout out to my boy Kenddell on the entertainment team he is so much fun and super sweet, and an amazing dancer! The entertainment crew really make it fun with music and dancing and lots of energy. I will definitely be returning for more fun!!

Yelp
Lots of mosquitoes, the lobby is beautiful but the rooms need an urgent upgrade, it's like I stepped into the 80's, rooms smell funky. Food

Yelp
I'll admit I had modestly high expectations, despite never having stayed at an all-inclusive resort before, as it was my birthday trip (and this place has the word "Luxury" right in the name), but I am trying to temper with the knowledge that COVID-19 is still in effect. Plus, there was a hurricane. I'm going to divide things into a simple list of good and bad. Good Staff all super polite and service was typically excellent. The only thing that wasn't included was premium bottles of wine at the restaurants The restaurant food was incredible - filet mignon bourguignon that you could cut through with a fork! Some of the food at the buffet was absolutely delicious and got me excited for the a la carte restaurants. Hurricane Zeta was handled supremely - moved us to rooms away from the ocean, coordinated boxed sandwiches, and generators kicked on once the power went out The wifi was better than what I have at home. Coverage everywhere on the property, even when standing in the sea, and speeds fast enough to watch streaming video or take phone calls on a smart phone. Even during the hurricane and power outage, the wifi was out for all of 15 minutes. Bad Most a la carte restaurants are closed - none of the other resorts on the complex were open, so those restaurants weren't available either; Brazilian and Japanese weren't available at all, for example. The 4 restaurants on this property that were available were switching off nights as well. If you don't have restaurant reservations, there is only one option for dinner: the main buffet. After the first night this just felt way too much like a collegiate dining hall experience, adding in families with small, sometimes screaming, children. There is a little street market on the resort complex that is unadvertised and we didn't find until we got lost on the property in the rental car. Buffet food was a hit or miss - delicious-looking, very poor quality ribs, scrambled eggs at breakfast that were too wet to be appetizing. 24 hr snack bar was closed 6PM-"10PM" (reopened sometime the next day) Main buffet had a dress code that wasn't advertised anywhere, so our first night I had to trek across the property after discovering the snack bar was closed to find out about the dress code to then change my clothes so I could sweat through something new and be completely uncomfortable at the main buffet. Scheduled room service breakfast the morning of our departure was an hour late; I went to the airport on a near-empty stomach After the hurricane, we didn't know that we *had* to call for a bellhop to pick us up on checkout, so we stood in the heat/rain waiting for one to come. When the bellhop arrived, the golf cart seats were covered in sand. One night we were kicked off the beach at 7PM, told it was closed, but a private party had rented it. We were kicked out of a pool at 7PM because it was closed, even though the hotel's TV channels show they're open until 8PM The TV in my room never worked for more than about 30 minutes before reception would cut out. The safe in my room wasn't working when I arrived. They replaced it promptly, but after returning to my room the day after the hurricane the new safe quit working. Some failures with the hurricane - a notice was provided to only some rooms that the buffet service would be available until 6PM that day, so many guests (including some of my friends) went without dinner that night. Having to listen to as many as three different people blasting music on their bluetooth speakers at the adults-only pool area. Oceanfront rooms are not adequately soundproofed to keep out the noise/shouting/music from the pool. Three weddings were booked over the weekend we were there, so not only was the resort quite crowded, we were told that we needed to park our rental car on the other side of the highway and walk back more than once. Making restaurant reservations required a trip to the lobby to speak to someone to book for multiple rooms. When we arrived to one of the three reservations we were able to go to (thanks to the hurricane) they didn't have anything for us. The sports bar is indicated to be excluded from all-inclusive on the website when we booked, but sometime after we arrived we found out it was included. It was impossible to get chairs at the adults-only pool. Towels are left on them all day long. Bottom Line Aside from the issues with finding food the day we arrived, the simple fact that it took a bit to recover from closing things down for the hurricane, and how absolutely stressful it was to just get checked out from the hotel, my group had solidly good days in the middle of our 7-day vacation. It was especially nice for my mom, she was happy to just relax on the beach or by the pool or take a nap in her room with everything catered for her while my friends and I ventured out with the rental car. All in all though, I really don't know if I can say that I would go to any all-inclusive resort ever again, let alone this one.

Yelp
WORST HOTEL EVER DO NOT COME HERE Got to the hotel after checking in and the pillow had stains and that at least what I thought but had them change the covers because like I said thought it was just dirty but it's actually mold woke up the next to mold covers the whole pillow I was sleeping on and that was mold

Yelp
Security had us waiting an hour at the gate accusing our girlfriend / family were prostitute after we SHOWED them three times their ID and room numbers. Will not be staying here again....

Yelp
Stayed 10 days. I had a great time at Bahia. This was my first trip to a quad-resort and I was little intimidated by its size before we arrived. However, once we got there it was very easy to navigate. There were plenty of maps, and trollies come through frequently to pick guests up. Beach - the beach was beautiful! It's easy to see that they take a lot of pride in keeping their beaches clean and in good condition for walkers. The shore line is very long as it connects with Tulum's section. It's full of beautiful scenery which includes different colors of ocean, some calm water, some crashing waves, some rocky terrain, and some white sand sections. Food/Drink - exactly what you'd expect from a lower line all-inclusive. This was my 7th trip to an AI in MX so I knew not to expect too much. There is always something to find at the buffets and the food trucks - you won't go hungry! The Mikado and Los Coralos (a la cartes) were excellent!!! There drinks were better, overall, than other AI's I've visited. Their mudslides are exceptional! A couple other goodies: Mango Tango, Miami Vice, and Gin and Clubs. Room: we stayed in the adults only section in building 83. We were in the second floor. Their are no elevators. Our view was poor, but enjoyed watching the birds in the morning over coffee. I really liked our bathroom. It was spacious with two sinks, a large jetted tub, separate shower, and separate toilet with a door. Our bed was comfortable, and the air worked great! We had plenty of hot water in that building! The doors are pretty shabby on the entrance so we did hear a lot of hallway noise. Staff: Excellent! Pleasant, tried hard to speak English, attentive, and fun! Highlights: 1.) The Eco-Bahia tour (free). We were able to many species of birds and other animals and insects. Our tour guides were wonderful. 2.) Snorkeling. Beautiful fish - we even saw a new species we had never seen before. 3.) Having the luxury to use the facilities of and eat at ALL resorts when booking the Akumal section. Sian Ka'an was very fun to walk around - it is secluded in lush jungle. 3.) The free range wild life. We saw many lizards, Coatis, and Agouti. A few tame raccoons. Lots of different species of birds. 4.) The night shows were neat! We did the circus (more of an Aerial show) and the magic show. Super cool and fun! Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal was two thumbs up for us!

Yelp
Overall I will have to end my trip with a 4 star review. I will just give you the basics of the pros and cons listed instead of me ranting on for no reason. Pros: -Good food -Good transportation -Nice pools -If you like alcohol, they have good drink service -Majority of the staff were pleasant -area is clean -amazing room cleaning service Cons: -Rooms are nice but had 3 different room changes due to issues -room lights are dim, poor lighting -they NEED TO PUT AC U ITS IN THE PUBLIC BATHROOMS!!! It's too damn hot lol -the BIG one...the service to get your food is horrible, I know it's covid and all but you will have to wait to get your food since you can't touch any plates nor serve yourself. They need a better system because it's feels as if they are under staffed when it comes to serving. Overall my wife and I had an amazing time, truly enjoyed our stay. Make sure you visit the Tulum side of the resort, there food and energy levels are a lot better.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience!!! Go somewhere else. Spend your money elsewhere - service is horrendous, limited food options. Rooms are outdated and customer service is atrocious

Yelp
very nice resort. they need more staff members to accommodate the long lines. the lost and found personnel are horrible people. they had me call the landlines to speak to them and I incurred $100 fees to speak with them and transferred over 10 times. there room service breakfast options are horrible. the entertainment guy promised us a trip but he never really gave us anything. he lied.

Yelp
We have visited Bahia Principe resorts twice now, once two and a half years ago (2018) for our honeymoon and once in feb of 202-. I will base my review off of both experiences, not knocking them for things brought on by covid. The hotel and properties are beautiful. It is a pleasant place to be with gorgeous landscaping and amazing views. The rooms: Our room at Sian kaan was much nicer and roomier, and had more updated furniture. That being said both rooms were clean and comfortable although I wish the thermostat could be adjusted. Pools: there are several large and amazing pools across the different resorts to enjoy. Our favorite is the adults only infinity pool, but we love the main pools at tulum and akumal as well. Pools have drink service and they were great at coming around to refill drinks and take orders. There are also several swim up bars at various pools as well. Beach: There are several beach access points and places to hangout/swim. All were very clean and offered great ocean access, although I do recommend some sort of water shoe as there are some coral/rocks in some places, that being said much of the sand is great. Food: breakfasts at the buffets are great, I highly recommend getting an omelette made to order the lunches there are great as well, and there are some other cool places to eat (depending on what is open due to covid) like the snack bars and ándale burger at tulum. For dinner I would say always get a reservation at an a la carte restaurant if possible. Reservations can be made through concierge or on the web app. I do wish their web app was a little but better. All the restaurants have great food, we especially loved their Japanese restaurant, la dolce vita, and any rodizio restaurant (there are a couple depending on what's open. Keep in mind not all restaurants are open during covid due to reduced capacity. I don't blame them here, but it's a shame to lose out on the variety. Staff/service: all in all the service was great. Almost all the staff is friendly and kind, willing to help with anything they can. My only complaint is that the trains took way too long to come and to get around. They could really use a couple more trolleys to shuttle people around as wait times during covid were much longer than our previous stay. That being said we loved it here and will be back for sure.

Yelp
Context: Family vacation in March. We booked everything through JetBlue vacations. (Flight, Round Trip Bus to/from Resort, and Resort). We arrived in Cancun around 11 AM. We didn't realize how far the resort is from the airport, but it isn't too bad. It took us about 45 mins to arrive at the resort from the airport. There are a few vendors offering free stuff throughout the trip - while they were some good deals - and I think they should be taken advantage of. For this trip we were really looking to relax as opposed to exploring. So we stayed at the resort the entire time. Keep in mind that the cost for complimentary deals is your time - still go for it! The resort: This place is Huuggee! The staff were super friendly and fun! Check-in wasn't crowded (around 12:30/1 PM) We went to go eat at the Buffett while they sorted out our room situation. I think check-in and check-our getore crowded throughout the day. Room: We stayed in 83 - The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean. Fabian was amazing! 83 and other villas were like a little oasis! It was about a 5-10 min walk to Akumal Lobby, but trolleys are running frequently. Yes, I said trolleys (or golf carts) Food & Drink: Somethings were underwhelming, but the good overall was tasty. Tequilas Restaurant was my fave! I also had Los Corales Brazilian Steakhouse - which was also good! Buffets are awesome! Drinks are always flowing! Other: There are so many activities! So make sure you are staying current via the app! (Beach Volleyball, Salsa and Spanish lessons, tennis lessons etc.) Book your restaurants ASAP. Try to do prior research beforehand - after pleading our case we were also able to snag a walk in for buying a bottle of wine - not sure if that always a possibility. They let us have lunch and relax after checkout. Optional: Bring some cash to tip - during your stay or towards the last day for the workers that consistently are awesome. Even Better If: Gym facilities were updated a bit more - Tulum seemed to have more updated equipment. I hope to come back!

Yelp
Love it here We have had the best experience here! Everyone has been amazing -- best vacation ever! Every night we visit our favorite bartenders at the sports bar -- Carlos + Jovanny! From the large pools, awesome rooms, great buffets & awesome people -- this has been an incredible experience and we 100% will recommend to friends! Thanks for a great trip

Yelp
The food was not good.... Definitely don't go there thinking you will get some good Mexican food. You won't find it. The workers there don't even like or eat the food for the same reason. But the beach was beautiful. All the drinks somehow taste the same. The room was nice.... Below Is the reason for it's rating We never received our honeymoon package. So we went to customer service and spoke to Jorge who said he would get out the honeymoon banner for our door, chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine. We never got those things. This was after complaining about this 3 separate times. Even worse, we our owners of a timeshare with Bahia and we never got our benefits. It was finally explained to us on day 7 of our 10 day stay that we didn't get it because we didn't book directly through the website. We were fine with the explanation and not getting the benefits this time around. However, it shouldn't have taken so many days to get and answer. My biggest problem with this situation was actually the woman at the akumal privilege club named Samantha. Samantha was so rude and disrespectful to my husband and I. While my husband and I were very patient and polite, once Samantha seen that we had yellow wristbands on, she immediately started being rude to us. While there were no other members there, we spoke to her and she looked dowb her nose at us and then said she was checking someone else in and proceeded to go outside to speak to another worker for about 20 minutes. There were no other resort guests present at that time. She finally came back inside and looked up our contract, confirmed that we are members in good standing and then told us that she would not help us. Then the employee at the lounge tending to the bar came over to my husband and I and asked if we would like something to drink. I kindly explained to her that we were waiting to get our benefits and that if we received them that we would order something with her at that time. After I explained that to her, Samantha yelled across the lounge to the woman, "Don't serve them, they are just regular people" in Spanish very rudely. I inquired as to why she wouldn't help us and she started waving her hands in our faces and yelling at us. This was very disrespectful and unprofessional. Based on my experience with Samantha, I would not recommend that anyone spend money with or stay at Bahia Principe resorts. We spent a lot of money on the timeshare and the stay at your resort. We definitely did not come to be disrespected. Furthermore, these experiences ruined our Honeymoon. This is not something will forget. We spent so much time trying to get an explanation and get things sorted out, that we would have rather spent enjoying our honeymoon. This has been a terrible experience.

Yelp
They don't even deserve the 1 star I gave, but I couldn't find less than that, the crew over there doesn't knew anything about courtesy or how to deal with the guest. lots of bugs in room, so ridiculous system implemented just to make your life difficult & not to use the facility what you had payed for, so AGRESSIVE people, I was attacked / threatened by a manager because I was just complaining about their ridiculous system in the dining restaurant, the guy attacked me & kicked me out of the restaurant!!!, No system; you can't find a responsible manager to deal &/or solve the issues, & when we were leaving the girl who booked us the return bus to the airport had mistakenly booked a wrong date, & when we realized that a day before, seriously we couldn't find anyone to talk with. This experience changed my opinion about vacationing in Mexico again

Roxana A.

Yelp
This is our second time here, first in 2019 and now in 2022. The resort is gorgeous and everyone is so friendly and helpful! Book every restaurant you are able to for dinner!! They will not disappoint!

Johenny T.

Yelp
The bad reviews confuse me because I had such an excellent time at this resort! There were so many activities, the customer service was amazing on my end and they even served top shelf Don Julio Reposado so I was very happy girl. I thought the food was so much better than any other resort I've stayed at especially the Alux restaurant- the peri peri chicken was so tender and delicious wow! I had a blast at this resort and would love to come back again. I will be leaving a more detailed and full review on trip advisor.

Yelp
GOT FOOD POISONING AT RESTAURANT HERE! I have now stayed at your Tulum location twice and also at your location in the Dominican Republic and other than this last time, our stays were great! Unfortunately during this last trip I was served some chicken at Macado restaurant that was either undercooked or bad and spent 2.5 days confined to my room because of it! This trip was paid for by my girlfriend's father for us to spend time with him and his wife and their two younger daughters (ages 4 & 7), and was disappointed because I spent half of our vacation either in bed or rushing to the bathroom. When explaining all of this to the front desk they told me that there was nothing they could do because there were no reports of anyone else getting sick, except that multiple other people in our group had what I experienced just not as severe. When I spoke to the front desk, all I wanted was to get some kind of resort credit or spa credit etc for my girlfriend's dad to use. He frequents the resort in Tulum and even got married there about 8 years ago. I did this to give you guys the benefit of the doubt because he was disappointed that this had happened and wanted to give you the opportunity to make the situation look better on your part. The response I got was less than ideal. Instead of consideration for what had happened, they denied any responsibility and eluded to it somehow being my fault. They explained how they only use the finest ingredient and adhere to a strict cleaning policy so it couldn't have been their fault. In a professional regard, trying to find out what had happened to make sure it didn't happen to another guest or guests would've been the proper move. Really disappointed in that outcome and hope that nobody else has to go through this on their vacation.

Yelp
Eat, beach, sleep, and repeat.... Unfortunately this hotel was not listed on Yelp but it's on Trip Advisor with almost 10,000 reviews. This resort is finally listed correctly! THE RESORT-Let me first explain the hotel. This resort has 4 hotels in one. They operate individually and together. What I mean is you will check into the hotel you book and your room will be located at your hotel. However, we have the option to swim at and eat at all properties. AMENITIES-I found Akumal is the nicest one of the four hotels. Akumual is the hotel that has the infinity pool, adults only area, and I believe the best beach views from the room. If you were coming without the kids, you want to be here or at Sian Ka'an. You will find pools in all locations however, I explored all the grounds and thought this hotel was the best. There 4 different resorts are: -Luxury Bahia Principle Akumal Don Pablo collection -Luxury Bahia Principle Sian Ka'an Don Pablo (adults only) -Grand Bahia Principe Coba -Grand Bahia Principle Tulum They're all connected and you take a tram to get from one to another because the property is huge. You can walk to all the other resorts except Sian Ka'an. I enjoyed Tulum's shops and Coba's buffet. The shops in Tulum had lots of souvenirs while but Akumal only had one gift shop. The gift shop has everything you need for three times the price. FOOD-There are several buffets, snack bars, and 15 specialty restaurants where you need to make RESERVATIONS. These specialty restaurant s are located throughout the hotels. As an Akumal guest you could eat at all the different restaurants at all locations. We could book unlimited reservations, but I do not know the policy at the other hotels. You want to make your reservations as soon as you get there because things get booked up fast, and timeslots are hard to get. I'm sure if you tip you might get a little extra help. The food was delicious and I'm picky! I wasn't a fan of the coffee but everything else was good! No almond milk just soy milk. SPA-We visited the spa when we were there and got a couples massage and facials. Our couples massage included 30 min Jacuzzi time (you might need to ask for this because it's not necessarily included). The massages were wonderful and around $100 each. The facials were also great and were $100. Massage therapists Berenice and Nancy did an amazing job. The receptionist Silvia and Guadalupe were friendly and very accommodating too. ANIMALS-There are lots of different kinds of animals on the property. I loved them! A lot of iguanas and other animals. I'm not sure what kind of animals they are, they look like monkeys or anteaters, but I know they're a totally different kind of animal. They don't care about people and they won't bother you!! . You definitely want to listen to the signs and not feed the animals. This is obviously to prevent them from coming up to a hotel guest. If you're complaining about the animals you should really find another hotel. GROUNDS-The grounds were lovely. Always clean and quiet. I loved that they had lots of coconuts hanging from the trees but many have fallen to the ground and you can see the animals drinking out of them. Too cute! ENTERTAINMENT-they had live music every night, fun pool games and lots of other activities. They had different shows every day the week. I only saw the Michael Jackson one because I was exhausted from all our other activities. I loved it! We did a lot of excursions so if you need a lot of stimulation and don't do any excursions this hotel is quite relaxing and really a party hotel. LOCATION-Once they moved our room to the second floor we had an amazing view of the ocean and the property. Definitely Suggest getting a room by the infinity pool on the 2nd or 3rd floor. An ocean view is a must. EXCURSIONS-There is someone on site to help you book your tours and excursions. Everyone seemed very helpful. I loved how patient the guy was in helping us pick our excursions. When I tried to book excursions every day he warned me it might be too much and maybe to wait, and he was definitely right. The goal is not to oversell you tours. There was a nice young lady that helped us as well. My only complaint was when I asked about 5th St. she booked us on a free tour. She forgot to mention this free tour included an hour in a jewelry store and a tequila shop. It was a big waste of 2 hours. Make sure to ask questions and get all the information when you're booking tours. You will find great prices through the hotel. OVERALL- I'm not complaining, we paid about $850 for the week and everything was inclusive. All the food, liquor, and activities! I would definitely stay here again!

Wesam S.

Yelp
The people who work there do not know the first thing about courtesy, politeness or customer service. Would never go there again. Very disappointed. This experience alone changed my opinion about vacationing in Mexico. This hotel does not deserve the 1 star I gave, but there is option for less.

Magui S.

Yelp
Outstanding service, couldn't ask for more! Attention to detail. Staff is super friendly, always going above and beyond to take care of guests . Cleanliness is just amazing . From the minute that we walked in .. our luggage was disinfected , they had different staff assigned different areas to avoid cross contamination

Mari K.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst hotel experience I've ever had to suffer through. To call this luxury is the most hilarious joke. I shortened my planned stay of 8 days down to 2 the same evening I arrived and it got gradually worse from that moment on. I should've just left the first moment I felt iffy about this place. While checking in, we got an upgrade to a room but we were given no information regarding needing to reserve for dinner a day or two in advance so we ended up having to eat all 6 meals in a crappy buffet with mediocre food because everything was overbooked. They gave no accommodations and refused to open an umbrella for us but couldn't explain the reason why they couldn't do it. The bars have a crappy limited menu with drinks that taste like toilet water with sugar in it. There are so sooo many cute small resorts that treat you amazing that cost half of what this place does. I would recommend anyone reading this comment to stay faaaaar away from this craphole.

Yelp
This review is for our 4 night stay that ended yesterday. We traveled with a group for a wedding anniversary celebration. Our group included children and adults. Check-in: We arrived around 2pm. We requested a room on the 3rd floor of the adult building 82, however one was not ready. We could either take a second floor room or come back after 3pm. When we returned at almost 4pm, we were told by a different staff member that the hotel was at capacity and no 3rd floor rooms were available in the requested location. This was frustrating as they could have told us that the first time. Check-in process was very slow. For some reason, it seemed to take 2-3 people to check in one family. Our room card key was very difficult to use. It took at least 4-5 tries to open the door each time, every day. Room/Amenities: The room appeared to be clean and spacious but has very outdated decor. The room was very hot the first two days. Maintenance informed us that the thermostats A/C are not adjustable. It was uncomfortable to sleep in a room that never got cold at night. After a long day, I was looking forward to relaxing in the tub. The bath tub stopper did not work. We called maintenance the next day and they did come to replace it. Response time was good. WiFi connection was slow and unreliable. You constantly have to type in your credentials to reconnect. Service/Staff: The front desk staff do not seem properly trained. We were given different information by different staff during check in and when trying to confirm our departure transportation. Everyone tells you you need to talk to some one else. There is no accountability. Not knowing if you need to arrange your own transportation at the last minute was very stressful. Some of the employees were very friendly and helpful. Others seemed like they did not want to be there. There was also some inappropriate "joking" around between the staff members. I understand this happens but its not professional to do it in front of guests. The level of service and professionalism here was much different than what we've experienced at other 5 star resorts in the area. Pool/Beach: The beach was very nice. We got lucky and the seaweed was not as bad as it has been in previous weeks. Staff cleans up as much seaweed as they can every morning. It's very difficult to get a chair at the pools after 7am. Guests should not be allowed to leave towels on chairs all day. If they had a pool concierge and more staff, they would be able to better manage the crowds. In general, there is no food service at the pools. There may have been drink service but we didn't see it. We had a great server for the Moet pool party at the adult pool but we had to purchase champagne bottles. Food/Restaurants: Reservations for the a la carte restaurants are not easily accessible. The website and mobile app are not fully functional. It would be so much more convenient if we could easily make reservations through the app. Air conditioning was not working properly in the Alux restaurant. This was one of the better meals but again it was hot and uncomfortable. The quality of the food at the buffets could be improved. A lot of the food was cold or bland. Only one beer option (Dos Equis) is unusual for a large "5 star" resort. Amenities: No elevators. If you have difficultly walking up and down stairs this could be a problem. The resort is huge. You will spend time waiting for the trolleys. You also need to factor in travel time to dinner and other events. The electricity went off at least 4 times while we were in the room. It may have gone off again while we were not in the room. It was only for a minute or two but you never knew how long it would last. We traveled with a group and other members of our party had similar issues throughout our stay. If you are traveling with children and looking for a value resort this might be the place for you. However, we are seasoned American travelers and have been to this area of Mexico several times with much better service and more inclusives. Despite the hotels shortcomings, we enjoyed the time spent with our friends and tried to make the best of it. We read some negative reviews prior to our stay but were hopefully optimistic. This is not a 5 star resort with 5 star service and should be advertised accordingly. Based on our personal experience, the Luxury Bahia Principe missed the mark.

Yelp
Will not return, the hotel is not a five star hotel like google says, the drinks they say you can have is a joke, each bar gets only two bottles of the better liquor per day, if you want anything after 11pm you must go far to find and will find only cheap stuff. Everywhere you go is hot even inside the buffets and restaurants, had to stop eating from how uncomfortable we were sweating. The staff is super nice and works very hard and if the resort would turn on the fans and A/C units we could have hung out more. We spent more times in the rooms due to how muggy it was everywhere else, even the pool water was hot instead of refreshing. The food was ok nothing to rave about, my complaint there is that the hamburgers were never cooked well, each time my son went to try one it was red inside. We stayed at the luxury of the hotels and I tell you there is nothing luxurious about it.

Yelp
We visited the Luxury Bahia Principle and had a nice relaxing time starting with private transfer from airport to the resort. Once we got to the Luxury Bahia Principe, both of our rooms were upgraded. Through out our stay, we always encountered friendly and polite staff. We felt very safe there during the Corona Virus pandemic since the resort was not et all crowded and it was also exceptionally clean. We also had an opportunity to try many ala cartte restaurants in both Tulum and Akumal. Our favorite was a new Indian restaurant in Tulum and Arlequin restaurant in Akumal. There were many activities that were offered. We got to see a magic show as well as Mexican circus show and I also took a bicycle tour of their vast properties. The resort is located near by the Akumal beach where my kids snorkeled and saw a few turtles, lots of fish, barricuda and even sting rays. We also saw many animals such as lizards,, raccoons and even a snake.Overall, we had a great time and came back to Chicago rested and rejuvenated.

Yelp
Just returned from 4 nights 5 day stay here. I want to break things down for my review. Staff - The entire staff are very friendly, helpful and will do anything you ask. Marcel my butler was awesome. Five stars for the entire staff. Buffet Food- awful. If you are a foodie you will be disappointed with the food. If you love the food on cruise ship then u will love the food here. It was the same thing at buffet every day and the food was typical mass produced cheap buffet style food. I mostly lived off of tortilla chips with liquid cheese, which I do not normally eat. If you are forced to eat at buffet I strongly suggest you eat at the lobby buffet rather than buffet near adult infinity pool. Restaurants- good luck getting into any restaurant before 10pm. Most will be sold out by the time you check into hotel. We were lucky to get in at 3 restaurants as the 16 other people I went with were lucky to get into one for the week. The scam is that they say they are all booked but when you go there to eat you will see it's half empty. I think they only allow a certain number of people to eat at restaurants and they say they are all booked which forces you to eat at buffet and keeps their costs way down. We went to the Brazilian restaurant which was the easiest one to get into and the food was just ok. Maybe one step up from buffet, 2 stars, I would not recommend it. We also went to Cozumel Mexican restaurant and it was a little better but still not great, 2.5 stars. I would go here rather than buffet though. Finally on our last night there we were able to get into Don Pablo which is French not Mexican like I assumed. I never tried French food but I anything had to be better than buffet. I would have eaten here every night if I could have. The food here was 5 stars, absolutely delicious 5 course meal. I was so happy to finally have real food. The filet mignon was delicious as was the fish soup, chocolate dessert and my salad. I highly recommend Don Pablo. Rooms- if you are not going with kids I suggest you stay in villa 82 which is updated and more expensive. If you want adults only and can tolerate a little musty than villa 65 is good location. Both of these are two steps to adult infinity pool and adult beach which is where the 16 of us hung out most of the time. The rooms are not luxurious at all, 3 stars. They are average but just fine. These specific rooms LOCATION for adults is 5 stars. Distance from Cancun airport is 1.5 hour drive. Would I go back, maybe but with so many places in Mexico I will try Cancun next time just to save the long shuttle ride.

Yelp
We stayed here as a family and booked four rooms for a week. There was no hot water for showers. We booked our tours through the hotel and purchased the photos that they offered. We never received the photos and the staff was not helpful. We have not received the photos. I feel like we are constantly being scammed at this place.

Yelp
I apologize in advance if this is long, but I'm writing this in the middle of a whole fiasco with the resort. My fam booked a 4 day, 5-night stay in early August 2021 at the Bahia Principe luxury Akumal. *disclaimer* The humidity here was truly something else. If you're from Florida or another equator-riding part of the globe, this will feel a little worse than home. The humidity was so strong in fact, that rating became an uncomfortable part of the day. Good 1. Extremely friendly staff who you can strike up a conversation with easily regardless of language barriers 2. Truly beautiful resort with a massive campus sprawling all across the beaches here. 3. Resort offered different types of entertainment all throughout the day (magic shows, silent disco, dance classes, etc. 4. (Some) Incredible restaurants with 5 star food (highly recommend Don Pablo) Bad 1. When booking our stay at this resort, we were excited to eat at the restaurants on the resort, only to find out that upon checking in, the restaurants were virtually completely booked a week out. When we did manage to secure a reservation, the food was good, but the restaurant was barely half full which could be either because of COVID (understandable) or because the resort wants to cut down on costs. We just felt cheated of the whole "all-inclusive" aspect of this trip. 2. When we first arrived to the resort, check-in took a whopping 45 minutes with a less than half full lobby and I just know that check-out will be similar if not worse of a headache. 3. The buffets are your only option for food if you did not book a reservation at one of the restaurants. The buffet can be likened to the American collegiate dorm room dining experience with all of the food looking appetizing, but with no flavor. They have loads of options to choose from, but all disappointing and lacking flavor. Perhaps the most frustrating thing about the buffets was that, both the buffet room and the dining room had AC units, but were not on. This was incredibly frustrating as the food itself was not cold when it should've been (sushi, ceviche) and we were all sticky from the humid air which just made eating uncomfortable. Unacceptable 1. We got two rooms in the same building when we first arrived. We finished check-in and came to realize that the AC units in BOTH rooms were not working. We were obviously annoyed because the rooms should've been a safe haven from the humidity, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We called maintenance at around 20:00 and a man arrived at 22:00. I'm not sure if the humidity added to the frustration, but this was unacceptable. We had just arrived to what we thought was going to be an unforgettable experience, and we're greeted by almost 6 hours of just waiting. I can say this was an unforgettable experience, but for entirely the wrong reasons. After the maintenance man arrived, he said that he wouldn't be able to fix the AC units and that they would just change our rooms. Finally, we thought as we gathered our luggage to two new rooms to find out once again that the AC units in BOTH rooms were not working. So we called again, and finally they moved us for a second time to two rooms with working AC units. So just to recap, we arrived at around 18:00, moved rooms twice with an unnecessary amount of waiting time (~6 hours), and finally went to sleep at around 4 in the morning. This was the first day, and also when we knew that things were probably going to be frustrating for the rest of our stay. 2. We ordered room service at 13:00 and we're told it would take 45 min to arrive. We ordered just a hamburger, brownie and a water bottle. After about an hour, I called the front desk to inquire about the food and they said it would be there in 15 minutes, but I kind of knew in the back of my head that what we requested would never come, so I decided to see how long it would take. Just make a game out of it and turn a bad situation into a good one. 2 hours had passed and it was now 15:00, so I called the front desk for a second time and they put me on hold for 10 minutes. No one responded after 10 minutes so I hung up, with the intention to continue my little game to fruition. The time was now 17:00 and about 3 hours prior, I knew the food was not gonna make it to our door. So just to recap, I ordered room service at 13:00, was told that it would come within an hour, and it never came after 4+ hours of waiting. 3. One of the employees, named HECTOR, straight up lied to us about the second time we changed our rooms telling us, "oh don't worry about it, your room will be ready by 15:00, just enjoy your lunch until then!" We finished our lunch and moved into our new room 5 hours later at 20:00. I have never before experienced frustration like this until we arrived to the resort. For a family of 5, an all inclusive resort solved all of our problems, but unfortunately we chose the wrong one. There are MUCH MUCH BETTER options th

Yelp
For the price and numerous other factors I would say this is a below average resort. The resort itself is huge as it is connected to 2 other of their own resorts. I tried to make the best out of my first time vacation in Mexico but the service at this resort from the staff was unfriendly and unhelpful at many times. Upon check-in I already had an issue with the room with double beds that I had already booked for, the front desk informed me that they were booked almost to full capacity and that they could give me another room with one king sized bed. I thought it was very unprofessional that my room that was fully paid for and booked a month ahead of time was given to someone else and they were having a hard time accommodating me and my family. Right after check-in we went to make dinner reservations only to find out that everything was booked and after spending time begging for the staff to help us squeeze into any cancellations we were able to book 2. The room we had generally looked clean but the floors were filthy and made our slippers black, and there were many little moths lingering around. What I did like about the resort was that they had golf carts/trolleys driven by the staff that would take you from point to point within a few minutes wait. The resort also had an odd and frustrating policy that each customer had to present a towel card in order to get a towel from the pool staff regardless of whether you had the resort wristband. This was also another issue we encountered because the front desk gave us one towel card at check-in. Generally the food at the buffet and at the a la carte reservation dinners are subpar at most. We were 20min late to one of the dinners because of the sudden pouring rain and one of my family members had slipped and injured themselves, and upon arrival to the reservation and explaining ourselves to the restaurant staff they initially refused to accommodate us and told us that the reservation was cancelled. It was only after they started receiving criticism from other patrons from the horrible treatment even after seeing the child hurt did they reluctantly return our reservation. The resort also offers an hour free rental of their snorkeling equipment, kayaking boats, etc. on their beach, and we were hoping to spend our last day relaxing by the beach and taking advantage of that offer. Unfortunately, again, the staff was not willing to accommodate with the reason that they were not allowed to by the marina due to the weather. We understood and asked to just borrow the snorkeling equipment so that we could use it in the shallow bay area and it was not allowed as well. Overall we made the best out of every situation but this resort was very discouraging and disappointing.
