Google
Fresh food, not fast food. The Pad Ped was amazing. The food can be cooked to your spice level preference. I ordered mine medium hot, and it was perfect. No refunds if you ordered it too spicy. They cook to order, so have some patience.

Google
Nice little Thai place tucked away in a shopping center. They have a large menu and it seems like every dish can be customized to your tastes. Highly recommend the pad thai with tamarind sauce, great flavors!

I ordered takeout ahead, it was supposed to be 27-33 minutes. I arrived on time and unfortunately, I had to wait over an hour for Basil fried rice. I have been to Bai Mai Tai several times, i’ve had wonderful food but, last night, the service and food was poor! I am uploading a pic of what I ordered and a pic of what I received. I am so disappointed, this establishment has went down since COVID and it doesn’t appear that it will ever be the same.

Wonderful, large portions of food. Everything we ordered was flavorful, mouthwateringly spicy, and just plain delicious. We ordered 4 different entree dishes and every one was amazing. The service is great, atmosphere is calm and relaxing giving us the perfect place to relax after walking.

Google
My bf and I have been here multiple times and each time, the food was always so flavorful and fresh. The waitress there is literally the sweetest and very knowledgeable about the menu. This is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to and I would highly recommend coming here.

Google
Ordered via DoorDash on a Saturday night at dinner time, but I had my food within an hour. They were very smart and wrapped the dish with plastic wrap, which kept the noodles hot and moist! I wish all Thai restaurants did this. The portion was huge! Well worse the price. They also honored my special requests for the dish. There was so much food I ate it over two days. The spice and flavor was excellent! And the noodles were cooked perfectly.

Google
Order food from here almost once a week this time I ordered a side of broccoli and it’s so hard it’s like it wasn’t even cooked we like our food well done please 🙏🏼

Google
Not so authentic if you asking me as South East Asian person who loves Thai Food so much. I ordered their Thai Fried Rice, thai curry puff and seafood tom yum. The thai fried rice to wet-ty and too much soy sauce. Curry puff too blant and the dough not so tasty. The seafood tom yum kinda a savior for my visit. Feels so fresh, sour, sweet and spicy perfectly. But, eventho the food not so great, I still give four stars because the service as usual, Thai people never failed on giving the best service in F&B industry. They are the best !!!

Yelp
Truly excellent Thai food in a spacious atmosphere with cool Thailand decorations plus great service and also very convenient WiFi (you just scan the QR code and it automatically connects). Got the pad thai curry noodle and also a dessert called Kow Tum Mud that is sweet red bean and bananas wrapped in rice rolls. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I stopped in on a cold Monday night (yes they're opened on Mondays) after yoga. I just wanted a Tom Yum soup. The broth was vibrant, juicy and everything you expect in Thai. I had hot sake, but only because they were out of the Thai iced tea. The tea they sell is bottled and that turned me off. Plus they were out, which explains the 1 star deduction. I was surprised to walk in to a full bar and that had me wondering. Does this place get interesting on a Friday night? I imagine old Detroit - the folks who have lived in the neighborhood for generations (mostly black), meets the hipsters who moved in down the street in the last decade. Do they commingle here? I saw said hipsters leaving with carry out on my way in. Do they just dip in and scurry out? I wonder. Either way, the owners are a great, hardworking family who deserve your business. Give them a try. Sit at a booth. Stay a while.

Yelp
I am so happy I finally got to dine in! Started with an order of the most crispy and delicious spring rolls. The table has chili sauce which went perfectly with the sweet sauce. For the main course I had the veggie curry which comes with tofu. So full of vegetables and ordered med spicy still made me sweat. It's a good thing our friendly server hooked us up with a carafe of water. Love the old school dark vibe. Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Had a takeout order that we picked up: it was well wrapped in plastic wrap to prevent spills and messes in the car. Pad Thai medium definitely had a kick, and a huge portion that I ended up splitting with my husband. But very few pieces of chicken, I ended up supplementing protein with some of our own leftovers.

Yelp
Beautiful decorated interior. The aroma was so welcoming. This place has a busy and loyal following. The carry out was non stop. Service was quick and friendly. Food was perfect. Spice level was exactly what we asked for. Can't wait to try more !!

Yelp
I have been searching Metro Detroit for my favorite Thai restaurant and I finally found it in Bai Mai Thai! The restaurant is in a strip mall on Lafayette - so convenient and free parking! It has a fun vibe, with ample seating and also a bar if you are so inclined. We ordered soup, spring rolls and two entrees. Our food was brought promptly by our friendly server and it was just perfect. We ordered our food medium spice and I will say it was perfect for our tastes, but if you shy away from heat I would order it mild. The soup was the best Tom Yum I have ever had in Detroit and both our dishes were fantastic. Our friends also really enjoyed their meals so we had 4 thumbs up from our table of four. My only problem is that they are so far away from me that I can't order carryout every week. When I am in the area I plan on going back. Sooo good!

Yelp
The food here is excellent. They prepare your food and cater to specific heat requests. They make sure the order is right and tastes great.

Yelp
I ordered N2 paid Thai and and A1 spring roll online! The pad Thai was solid and service was very efficient

Yelp
Busy little place for lunch after circling Belle Isle. We all agreed the food was tasty and the portions were more than enough! If you like hot you can go all the way; my medium plus could have gone up a notch. Drunken noodles, tofu curry, spring rolls and tom yum were all great. Got pretty busy, nice tables and booths.
google avatar

Yelp
I needed some half pans of different fried rice for my kickback. It was all good, the service did that upon my request and it was great.
google avatar

Yelp
In a little sketchy part of town but the food was great!! Cute little place though would definitely go again. The pineapple friend rice was the best!!

Yelp
Went looking for a local Detroit Thai restaurant from work today for lunch and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Coconut Fried Rice with chicken and medium plus spice. Portion was huge, price was great, and flavors were fantastic. Coconut is prevalent flavor with loads of chicken and two meals worth for sure. Heat was perfect if you like some spice without having your face blown off. Picture doesn't do it justice to see how much you get and just how flavorful this plate is. Well worth the stop, take out or delivery. Another little find in Detroit worth visiting more often now that I know about it.

Yelp
First the name of the restaurant is incredible. Second I ordered off of uber eats and this is the best Thai food I've had in detroit and overall Michigan. I'm now a big fan and very excited to come and dine in the future! I recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
A work colleague chose Bai Mai Thai for an office lunch, so I didn't have any say in the matter. We did a takeout order to eat at the office. I ordered the F2. Basil Fried Rice with Pork, medium spice. I also ordered the A15. Golden Bag, which is just crab rangoon, to share with my team. When I first opened the container I was impressed at the large portion with enough rice to feed 2-3 people. Unfortunately, my optimism was dampened after several bites. They are very stingy with meat, vegetable, and herbs. Maybe one basil leaf at most was used in this entire dish. I'm guessing half an egg was used. I could count on one hand the number of pork slices. There were no vegetables. Maybe two small slices of green pepper. What looks like a good deal is a rip-off once you realize that you're paying $10.25 for just rice. I couldn't eat even one-fifth of my meal. The crab rangoon pieces were small. You will find better at Panda Express. If you prefer quantity over quality, Bai Mai Thai is your place. If you expect a reasonable quantity of protein, vegetables, and fresh herbs, you will be disappointed.

Yelp
The best crab region and chicken spicy fried rice. The wait is always at least 25 minutes so order online.

Bambi A.

Yelp
Great spicy Thai options. There is limited staff (literally one server). But she was great the night I went.

Yelp
I work in the area so this used to be the place to go, but I was off work and I drove all the way to Downtown Detroit because I was craving Thai food. I order Pad Thai noodles, got home, the noodles were stuck together I had to add water to loosen them up, I had one shrimp, two piece of crab meat and two scallops. I called and she said she would give me some extra sauce when I explained I'm not driving back 30 minutes for extra sauce she said I'll give you 15% off your next order, what? I told her but the food I have is not edible. I told her I was doing a review and she chuckled wow welp they have lost my service and most likely my job service as well.

Yelp
ABOVE AND BEYOND. I am staying in a hotel in Detroit and wanted Thai food, so I ordered online from Bai Mai Thai based on positive reviews and a couple TikTok recommendations. The restaurant uses a third party delivery service (DoorDash). DoorDash first updated the delivery to an early arrival, then kept pushing it back again and again and again until it was 30 minutes late. Then at the (late) 40-minute mark, DoorDash marked the order as delivered and closed the chat. Immediately, Bai Mai Thai called and informed me the food had been sitting at the restaurant and they didn't know what to do - DoorDash was being unresponsive. Bai Mai Thai called DoorDash on my behalf, and were told DoorDash wasn't sending any drivers. So, even though they were closed at this point, Bai Mai Thai said they would find someone on staff to bring me my food on my way home. I was concerned about delivery tip (or even payment, in case DoorDash ripped both of us off) but it was clear they were only concerned about me getting my food. My food arrived, still decently warm. And lemme tell you: THIS IS SOME OF THE ABSOLUTE BEST THAI IVE EVER HAD. And I've had a lot. The pad see ew is so delicious. I actually love the thin, long rice noodles. The basil fried rice (with garlic butter) is life changing and no other fried rice will ever compare. And not only was the care in getting me my food above and beyond, and the food itself above and beyond, as I was eating my first couple bites the manager texted me to make sure I had everything I needed. I managed to drop my fork to answer her affirmatively. I'm so obsessed. I wish I lived in Detroit so I could eat her multiple times a week.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today. Still an excellent spot for a great meal! Service is great and the restaurant is always clean. Give them a try!
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
From first impressions, the decor was pretty and lots of space. I tried out 3 dishes - the red curry, pad thai and pad see ew. Unfortunately, the pad see ew and pad thai weren't outstanding (especially since the pad see ew weren't the right noodle type as I expected). However, the red curry was worth the visit! The curry was creamy and flavourful with the right amount of spice. The rice and chicken portions in the curry was massive and so filling. The service was friendly and helpful. I wasn't a big fan of their QR code system since it seemed like it was a bit more complicated compared to other systems I've done but the waitress was kind to resolve the issue.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
First time here and the food was great. Very tasty. The only thing lacking was the service they don't seem like they care too much about you being there and only one waitress for the whole restaurant.
google avatar

Munzer R.

Yelp
This is my favorite Thai food in Detroit and is a short walk from my apartment, so it's always a go to takeout place for me. The portions are great and the prices are reasonable. They have really good flavor in the food, and are definitely accurate with their spice levels, so definitely keep that in mind when ordering. It can sometimes be a bit slower due to the staff shortage, but I've never had any issues. I've had the fried rice, noodles, and curries and all of them are solid options. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Brandon J.

Yelp
good food and great customer service I'll be back weekly keep up the good work guys! I recommend all my Thai food friends to you first!

Yelp
I went here tonight to give this place a try. The place was dark and hardly much light. I placed my order through the kiosk since no one was around to take my order. As I was finishing my order, the lady came out and a gentleman was picking up his order. She was quite rude to him about his order. Secondly, the place was NOT even busy and the lady was telling people it was a 45 minute wait time. The place only had 3 tables, so I don't understand the reasoning of 45 minutes. I got the Pad See Ew. I was expecting wide rice noodles because that's how all Pad See Ew comes. This was not it. It was regular Pad Thai Noodles. I had chicken and about 5 pieces of broccoli. Which was disappointing. The horrible part was there was paper lined on the bottom of the food. I paid extra for extra sauce to be cooked into the dish and that stupid paper sucked up all the sauce. I requested medium plus and it tasted mild. Whoever said this place has the best Thai food have never had good Thai Food.

Tonee S.

Yelp
Menu: Options for every food preference and desired spice level. They were out of a few things (sticky rice, Thai tea, wide rice noodles), so I was originally a little disappointed. HOWEVER... the food itself was well done! Great flavor, noodles perfectly sauced, shrimp juicy, vegetables still had a nice crisp and weren't just soggy pieces of color. Spice level was perfect for everyone! Great portion size as well for the price. I was very happy! Ambiance: restaurant is found in a small outdoor shopping area. The dining room is still closed. Only takeout available Overall: I will definitely be back to try more

Celestina K.

Yelp
I had the medium+ basil friend rice and I paid extra to have it cooked in garlic butter. It was delicious and had the perfect amount of flavor and spice.
google avatar

Dale D.

Yelp
Very nice place. Seems a little off when you pull up as it is in a strip mall, however as soon as you walk in, you can tell it is going to be a good experience. The food was very tasty and made me want more. The place was amazing, the staff friendly, and the food well worth the time.

Max L.

Yelp
The most Delicious, authentic, fresh and flavorful Thai food in Detroit. 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Ray H.

Yelp
I was working near by and tried this establishment by chance...what a great find! Good food, slow service due to numbered workers, but food was great and plentiful.

Steve L.

Yelp
I've bought a variety of rice and noodle dishes from this place, and I'm bowing out...everything they make is extremely oily. Like, puddles of oil are literally left on my plate after eating. I've never had this experience at any other Thai restaurant, even when ordering identical dishes. Tonight, I ordered the curry noodle dish via UberEats. So much oil had pooled that it actually leaked through the styrofoam container and congealed in the plastic bag.
google avatar

Kelly Y.

Yelp
Huge portions! Food tasted pretty good and the takeout was quick! I just ordered online and everything was ready within 25 minutes. Spice levels are a little on the spicier side. We got the basil fried rice (yum!) and noodles. Definitely worth the price!

Deyonne S.

Yelp
Not good review is directed to the phone only. You give your order at 7 pm and the prompts say that lunch number is not available and you are disconnected. I call back and give the number & say dinner. The message is the same, "that lunch number is not available and you are disconnected. After too many tries you just give up and drive to the restaurant and wait the 30-35 minutes. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS - I would not drive there and wait in my car a half hour if it wasn't.

Latonya W.

Yelp
Amazing food every time I visit. The cost is reasonable, the inside of the restaurant is very clean and well done and can't forget about the great customer service!

Kristin L.

Yelp
Fast service good food, ambiance is ok. Full bar if you need it. Ordered the red curry with chicken and spring roles.
google avatar

Aurmaria J.

Yelp
I love this place! I go every time I'm in town!! The food is amazing and they always get my order right no matter what I ask for!

Shay g.

Yelp
Thai food downtown? Sometime god fr pull thru Anyways the food here is great & the portions are amazing, but they do be stingy w/ the proteins? Big ass thing of Noodles that were supposed to have a bunch of veggies + chicken ...girl I had like 2 baby corn and a green pepper in that mf. Either way the curry go off & the noodles still worth the price. Also! They pull tf THRU on spice. Order at least half a spice level down from what you would order somewhere else

Yelp
Got some delicious takeout one evening from Bai Mai Thai. We ordered the Green Curry w/ rice, Tom Yum Soup, and the Pineapple Fried Rice (also added curry powder to that). Everything was so flavorful we couldn't stop eating. They were quite generous portions and we honestly have enough for an entire second dinner. The Pineapple Fried Rice in particular was so so yummy. Ordered easily online and was ready at the listed pickup time. Wish I had tried this place sooner. Looking forward to my next visit to try more of the menu!

Jalin B.

Yelp
The food is great but I'm pretty sure the carry out woman is auto Adding tips to carry out orders without permission of customer. Was going to tip her but realized my total was a few extra dollars more than what I paid for.(I did the math and added sales tax 6%) Then is Asked for an itemized receipt and she gave me a cash tender receipt with no items on it which...was gonna tip her anyway but I'm pretty sure she robbed me lol
google avatar

Amelia E.

Yelp
I really enjoy this restaurant, they have really good food and the servings are large! I often get takeout here and I have never been disappointed. The curries and noodles are great.
google avatar

Alesha C.

Yelp
Soooooooooooo.......they cut the portions in half but raised the prices. I used to come to this place a lot. I used to order carry out maybe once a week of the Pad Pri Prow. The new take out containers they're using are the cheap styrofoam ones. They used to come in black containers with lids. The chicken with vegetables would come in the black container and the rice would be separate. Now they put the chicken and veggies on the side of the container where 2 small portions go and the rice covers the big part of the container. So you're literally getting 1/2 of what you used to get for the same price or more . Wtf. No, I won't be back. I'm now responding to the owner. I've always ordered after 3 because of my work schedule. I've never come in here before 3 because I have to work at 5 and my home is literally a 2 minute walk from your restaurant. So idk what's going on.this is the 3rd time it's happened.

Russell B.

Yelp
Order from here all the time, order is always top notch. Dining in is also great has full bar!!
google avatar

Molly B.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time recently and already want to go back. I've read complaints that the food is "too spicy" but I think anyone who says that is just not used to actual flavor. I ordered my dish as very spicy and it was pleasantly hot, definitely want to try the fire level next time!
google avatar

Mia M.

Yelp
Delicious food and quick service even when they say they are short handed. It has a decent ambiance if you want to go on a date and the food is very flavorful! Be aware that if you ask for spicy you will get spicy lol. Never had any issues here and I live their drunken noodles. Don't sleep on this gem.

Dwight S.

Yelp
Bai Mai Thai, has Excellent food, service and portions. My favorite is the coconut rice.

Yelp
Have eaten here a couple more times, all have been much better! Really love their tofu tod

Yelp
We were in Detroit and wanted to try a new place. Came across this and thought of trying. After reading the reviews and seeing the menu, I was convinced to eat here. The food is good. We ordered the Mixed appetizer plate and was not disappointed. the chicken satay was huge, only the wontons I felt I have had better since they had chicken but were bland. For entree we ordered 2 dishes, my husband took the Pad Prik Prow, and it was yumm even when we made it Hot, which was a mistake on our part. It became very spicy and we could have enjoyed it more if we didn't do that. I ordered the Thai Iced Tea, it was okay as per me. I am a fan of flavored Iced tea and this was just fine. For dinner, I had the drunken noodles in Medium + spice level. That level of spicy is good for me. On the whole, it was a nice surprise in terms of food.
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
I just stopped in for a quick snack. I only ordered a spring roll, so I can't really comment on their entrees. The spring roll was tasty and more flavorful than others I've had. The service was good. It is accessible and pre-covid it seems like it would have been a nice place to eat, drink (They have a bar.) and chill. Now, the inside is very dark, with few lights on. If I didn't call, I would have thought they were closed. The menu looks great and whatever else they were cooking smelled quite yummy. I will definitely be coming back to try a full meal.
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
I eat spicy food but this place is real. Ordered noodles with mild + ( I said just a little bit spicy)... it was really hard to eat because of the spicyness. The spicy spring roll was very spicy, if you can't eat spicy I would recommend no spicy .. Had a take out but they forgot my drink so I had to go back in there and ask for it.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Our fav thai take out in Detroit! Great price for the size food you receive and everything is delicious! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu!
