Baia Blu - Review - Coconut Grove - Miami - The Infatuation

"The Italian restaurant is in Coconut Grove and has the usual suspects on the menu: eggplant parmigiana, spaghetti alle vongole, and cacio e pepe. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Mariana Trabanino

Had dinner with the family at Baiablu and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with a lot of care. Every dish we tried was spot-on, especially the pasta (which was perfectly cooked). Even the small things, like the fresh bread and olive oil, were top quality. A special shoutout to Chef Vincenzo Borriello, who personally came out to check on us and made sure everything was perfect. He truly went out of his way to make the experience special for our family

This place is just wonderful. The food is so so good and fresh. If you want amazing pasta great atmosphere and service this is the spot. The rice balls are 11/10 and we had pasta it was perfect. Plus the chocolate cake was the cherry on the top. The staff was beyond kind and attentive. And the decore is very chic.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Italian restaurant in Miami, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had been transported straight to Italy. The warm atmosphere, authentic décor, and welcoming vibe set the stage for an incredible evening. The service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. Every staff member went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of. And the food—absolutely phenomenal. Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors, crafted with fresh ingredients, and beautifully presented. From the first bite to the last, it was an outstanding culinary journey that reminded me of being in a true Italian trattoria. If you’re in Miami and craving a genuine Italian dining experience, this is the place. It’s not just dinner—it’s a trip to Italy without ever leaving the city! Visited for a second time and it was as amazing as the first time. I really hope they continue providing amazing food and service 😍😍.

I was lucky enough to be able to host my son’s birthday dinner party at this magical and delicious restaurant… The experience far exceeded my own expectations and my family and friends were so happy to celebrate my son as if we were in Italy! I couldn’t recommend it enough… the quality of the food, the presentation and service is first class !!! Thank you to the amazing chef Vincenzo and the great team at Baia Blue 💙

Baiablu is a cozy, tucked-away spot in Coconut Grove that feels like a trip to Sicily. The lemon and blue decor gives it a fresh, coastal vibe, like dining by the Mediterranean Sea. We started with the artichoke gacamole and zucchini fiori — both light and flavorful. The imported burrata was the star of the starters: rich, creamy, and unforgettable. For the main course, the seafood pasta was loaded with fresh clams, mussels, octopus, and prawns — simple and delicious, just like in Sicily. We ended with a soft pistachio cake and a perfect cannoli for dessert that was delicious! The service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Baiablu is a true hidden gem, and once people discover it, the only downside will be the wait for a table.

We went yesterday and the restaurant was already closed, but the chef himself came out and welcomed us in, staying late just for us. That kind of hospitality is unheard of in Miami. On top of that, the food was absolutely incredible — hands down the best Italian restaurant in Miami!

Recently opened in Coconut Grove this fantastic restaurant! What I most like is that Baiablu is owned by an Italian chef which makes the dishes authentic Italian. Almost all the employees are Italian with a friendly and unique charisma. The food is fresh and so far my favorite meal was the branzino. The lobster spaghetti is also good and the tuna tartare as an appetizer is fresh and delicious. I recommend for dessert the pistachio cake. Lovely atmosphere and very nice minimalist decoration. Great selection of wines. Special thanks to Marco and Giancarlo.

Yelp
I do not know how I had no idea this spot existed, but I am so happy one of my girlfriends booked it for Friday night dinner. Located on Commodore Ave near Lokal (in the old Strada location) - walking into Baia Blu is like stepping foot in Italy. Pretty much every employee speaks Italian, so I instantly felt like I was going to have an amazing experience. We started off with the Ceasar salad to share. I also split the special of the day - Dover Sole - with my friend. I am such a sucker for Dover Sole, and it's typically a really expensive dish to order. However, I felt $120 for the portion size and quality for a special for two people was reasonable - especially in Miami dining. We also ordered the carpaccio special of the day which was a mix of salmon and tuna with blood orange and salmon roe, what a treat. The rest of the ladies ordered short rib, mussels, and a pasta dish. While I didn't have a drink it did seem to have a nice wine list by the glass and bottle. Service was friendly and pricing was reasonable - with some pasta dishes in the $20s and entrees between $30-40. I also love that on a nice Miami fall night they opened the front doors up to the street - giving that European dining vibe where you can enjoy the scenery of a busy street on a beautiful evening.

Yelp
Love this non-fussy authentic Italian in the grove. The decor is simple and meant to remind you of Sicily with all the lemons and blue accents. The staff is friendly and efficient and one never has to work to get their attention. The food is fresh and feels home made in all the best ways. We have been a few times and have enjoyed all the dishes: lovely tuna and salmon tartare, misto fritto, risotto, whole fish, and perfectly al dente pastas. Also love the bread and breadsticks that arrive as soon as you sit down. So grab an aperol spritz or a glass of wine, get some salad and some fresh fish, and enjoy your night!

Yelp
Based on the seafood stew alone, it would be a no, thank you. It basically only had calamari, even if it was a ridiculous amount. The decor is very nice and the service is great. But the dishes are too expensive for what is expected.

Yelp
I loved this place! The dinning room is intimate but fun! The service was amazing. Water glasses always full and the staff had great recommendations. The food was amazing! Everything I ate hit the spot!

Leigh Ann T.

Yelp
The service, apps and entrees were amazing. The chef and wait staff were so friendly and entertaining. The ambiance was very appealing. The tagliatelle special was very good, pasta was nice and light. The lobster was very good as well. Only disappointment was the cannolis and cappuccinos. The chocolate cake was good though. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
The restaurant is cute, but as an italian restaurant i expected to find homemade pasta, that's my only complaint. The service was great.

Yelp
NEW Restaurant alert! I recently visited Baia Blu in Coconut grove and had such a nice meal! Its a brand new Italian restaurant, with a very nice seafood selection. I got to try a dish i would probably not select, but it was highly recommended & did not disappoint- the Pear & Gorgonzola Agnolotti. Every bite was delicious, a nice balance between the sweetness of the pear + gorgonzola & a delightful touch of black truffle, sprinkled with parm. It's a must- you can thank me later :) Anyway, I skipped order... we got started with freshly made focaccia, probably the best i've ever had (insert chef's kiss).. we finished it & even asked for a refill! For a appetizers we tried the crispy seafood, the sauted mussels & clams, and my all time favorite- the tuna tartare! Other main dishes ordered were Gnnoci with shrimp & pesto and the beef tenderloin w/ 'mushrooms. We shared a dessert sampler, i was impressed by the cannoli, it was topped with pistachio and the lemon pastry. We shared a bottle of wine, recommended by the staff and it was really good- unfortunately I don't recall the name.. I recommend this establishment for special occasions, business dinners, girls nights, or a romantic occasion. My special occasion was that my dad was visiting, and he really enjoyed the experience. He wants to visit again already! Reservations are encouraged as it seems very busy, the staff is welcoming & helpful with menu questions/recommendations.

Yelp
Delicious food. The cacio e Pepe and lamb chop specials were amazing but the cannolis are the star of the show!!! Must get!!

Yelp
Service was incredible, they were very attentive and kind. Food was decent but the dessert was the best part in my opinion. Overall pretty good place, I'd recommend

Yelp
We came here for Miami Spice & it didn't disappoint. The SCALOPPINE DI POLLO AI FUNGHI & the SPAGHETTI ALLA CARBONARA were incredible. The chicken (pollo) in particular was 10/10. As an FYI, you can get bottles for wine for $48-60. This place is definitely a top tier restaurant. Service was wonderful too. Try the conolies!

Yelp
Amazing food, welcoming staff, accommodating to our dogs. Pricy, but worth it! I loved the giant Sicilian Monster shrimp grilled, and the smaller Sicilian shrimp raw, and the Octopus. Well all of it!

Yelp
This is the perfect place to share with friends and family. The food never disappoints and the service is always a 10/10.

Yelp
I visited Baia Blu two times in one week. It is a beautiful restaurant with wonderful service and a staff that greets you with such enthusiasm. I have tried many of the dishes but here are a few of my faves. The chicken parm is prepared differently than a normal chicken parm and a lot healthier. The branzino is fabulous. The tuna tartare is worth ordering. The grilled octopus was very tasty. I really liked the Caesar salad. The pear and gorgonzola agnolotti was yummy. My husband loved the Cacio E Pepe. I tried many of the desserts all good but not one I was wowed by.

Yelp
As an Italian living in Miami, I'm always skeptical about restaurants that claim to offer "authentic Italian" cuisine--but Baia Blu in Coconut Grove truly surprised me. It's rare to find a place that captures the spirit and simplicity of the Amalfi Coast cooking with such elegance. We came with friends and tried a variety of dishes, and everything impressed us. But the standout was, without a doubt, the gnocchi with truffle and pear. The delizia al limone was the perfect way to end the meal. The staff were warm and welcoming, and our server spoke a Italian with us, which was a lovely touch. It felt like being back in the south of Italy, but with a Miami breeze. Rating: 5/5 - A must-visit for Italians and anyone who appreciates real Italian food. P.S. Get the gnocchi. You'll thank me later.

Yelp
This kind of place is the reason that 5 star reviews even exist. Perfectly prepared, authentic Italian cuisine with insanely fresh ingredients I loved the impeccable service. It was a trained, Fine dining service, but with humor and personality. The space is gorgeous and their patio is perfect for a nice evening. Don't miss this gem.

Yelp
This place is different from so many Italian options you have in Miami. First of all, it is so authentic. You feel like you are sitting outside in a small city of Italy surrounded by art gallery, little bars, shops- super cozy design and environment. The coziest area of Coconut Grove. The food!!!! You can tell the chef, Vincenzo Borriello pours his heart into every dish. It's very delicate. I have tried there a few dishes with my girlfriend: lobster pasta, artichoke salad, zucchini pasta. All of those are MUST TRY. The pasta that is so comforting and delicate at the same time, accompanied with a great selection of wine. The dessert. I tried three different ones, honestly hard to focus just on one. But canollies are really similar to the ones I have tried in Italy. You can tell the owner and chef are taking care of the place to make sure the guests are happy. Very friendly atmosphere. Fancy Italian is easy to find in Miami but something where you can keep coming back as home is hard to find. I will be coming again and again!!! Bonissimooo!!!

Yelp
We loved Baia Blu! Walking by on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend and their lovely hostess encouraged us to come inside for lunch. The place was alive with families celebrating graduation and early Mother's Day. It felt like Italy on the Amalfi coast. Cozy, energetic and full of love. We both started with Aperol Spritz, along with warm focaccia bread with olive oil for dipping. We ordered the Amalfi salad and tuna tartare, and both were delicious. The service was excellent- no hovering but also there when we needed them. The restaurant had 2 large families on multiple generations celebrating graduation and Mother's Day so the staff was hopping. Although we didn't order the charcuterie platters the families did and it looked AMAZING. Next time we'll try that with a great bottle of wine. Both the manager and the chef came out to check on us. From start to finish, it was the highlight of our trip to Miami. It's not cheap but it's worth it. We will definitely visit again when we're back in Miami.

Yelp
I've hit up Baiablu in Coconut Grove twice now, it's got that Amalfi Coast flair--like you're chilling on a cliffside in Italy, sipping something crisp. The whole place screams White Lotus energy, but in the best way. Think bright, fresh flavors that pop--my go-to is the pear gorgonzola, which is so damn good it's basically taken over the spot in my heart Perricone's left behind. The staff's super friendly, on it with everything, and makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first time. If you want Italian coastal eats and service that's actually great, Baiablu's where it's at.

Dawn A.

Yelp
The food and service were excellent! We had eggplant parm, cacio e Pepe , and Branzino. All were delicious. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking at menu from street when the hostess approached us and gave us seating to their backyard which was an amazing Biophilia escape. The food was awesome. Tuna carpaccio was fresh and paparadel had a a smooth beef sauce. The owner was our server and he was super cool. The service and food were stellar and we know why Miami is #2 in food scene and hospitality.

Yelp
Great ambiance for such a small dining area .delicious homemade bread and pasta . Pasta vogolo a short on clams but sauce tasty . Bolognese sauce, very rich with beef over papadella pasta .Service excellent . Good luck to them !!!

Yelp
First the greeting by the charming Marco-general manager and Chef Vincenzo. Funny, personable, helpful, and so engaging. They are very concerned for you having a wonderful real Italian experience. We ordered lunch around noon and were beyond impressed with the quality of the food and service, 5 stars all the way. We had a great $39.00 3 course meal lunch special. Wow.. my wife had the Burrata appetizer, entree Branzino/vegetables and dessert of pistachio cake. For me the meatball appetizer (5 delicious meatballs) entree- Carbonara, dessert- 2 small fresh Canolli's with chocolate and pistachios. One of the best and most delicious lunches we've had in ages. We will be back and I would recommend to all my friends.

Mark K.

Yelp
Lunch for six (2/20/2025). Food was delicious, flavors sparkled, and heavenly deserts (not to be missed) served with smiles and 'family' warmth in ample proportions at reasonable prices. A perfect dining experience.

Bruce R.

Yelp
Wow! Eight of us were here last night, and we couldn't have had a better time, both the experience and the food. The vibe is perfect. At some restaurants, you feel like you are almost intruding. Here, General Manager Marco knows how the secret to warm welcomes and making guest feel--well, like guests. It's a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The food is excellent. The Chef, rather than hiding in the kitchen, likes to pop out into the restaurant now and then and chat with guests. Our table had a variety of entrees, and everyone thought everything was excellent. It's so nice to go into a restaurant where they make you feel welcome and wanted. This indoor/outdoor restaurant, although new, was very busy on a Saturday night. Deservedly so.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant with a great vibe! Food is top notch Italian. Chef Enzo straight from Amalfi gives you the same quality and taste. It's like going back to Italy when you're there! Servers also add to the Italian authenticity.

Laurine Victoria B.

Yelp
For staters... wow !!! The location, the ambiance, the service was impeccable!!! Secondly, the food was exquisite! each bite was so enjoyable and satisfying, and never ending. The staff were so welcoming and warm, the chef personally made me a Carbanara (which was not on the menu)! This was, by far, the best restaurant we have been to in South Florida! Bravo

Michelle C.

Yelp
Well deserving of a review because this might be one of the best restaurants in the Grove. Food quality and service is top of the line. This restaurant is true to its origin from the Amalfi coast . The specials are absolutely delicious. Atmosphere is perfect and the service (for us it's been Angela) and she's the most amazing along with the chef and the others just a great place . Again food is exceptional.

Susie M.

Yelp
I discovered this gem while walking around Coconut Grove. Food and service is 100/10. They don't have an appetizer with just calamari but the chef did it for us anyway. I also tried the pear truffle pasta which was very delicious.

Hayley S.

Yelp
Ordered in and had one of the best meals of my life. The bread, the fusilli, the sette veli. Everything was incredible.

Terrie V.

Yelp
Great food good service and the staff was kind and a fun place to go. I will definitely go again.

Yelp
First time to experience their restaurant, GREAT experience. Food was wonderful & well as service. It will be a hit in Coconut Grove. The grove is becoming the place for want to be Italians to dine! . ‍

Yelp
Ten years in Miami, and Baia Blue is a revelation. Impeccable Italian cuisine, flawless service, and an atmosphere that truly makes you feel special. They've perfected the art of dining.

Susan S.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious meal. The Caesar salad was perfect and the pasta was exactly al dente. Loved the flavors and the presentation. Zucchini pasta was out of sight as well as the spaghetti vongole. Will definitely be back.

Giovanni M.

Yelp
Best Italian restaurant !The food is excellent, the service is very attentive, with beautiful decor and a very warm atmosphere!I will return soon! A gem in Coconut Gove

Marco D.

Yelp
Being a native of Italy, it is very rare to be taken back to your country with just a bite...but at Baia Blu that's exactly what happen. I went home to Italy for a night in Miami...and I was not disappointed. Not only was the staff amazing, but the owners even welcomed me with a birthday cake! Talk about special! This is a new location with an old soul feeling! This will become a rare gem for south Florida! Bravo Giorgio

Shaffia C.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant, best in Miami. Lasagna was out of this world.Thank you Giuseppe

Andrea S.

Yelp
After hearing great reviews, we went to Baia Blue last night. We were completely disappointed. While we were seated immediately-that was the good part. The waiter was extremely rude and unwelcoming. My plate was without silverware and it was thrown down on the table! As for the food-also thrown down in front of us -yes the eggplant was delicious, but the linguini with clams was a super small portion and excessively salty. The waiter's behavior did not improve during the dinner. After finishing our main course, we waited and waited for someone to ask us if we wanted dessert or the check. Finally we had to get up and find the waiter to leave! At the end of the meal the waiter came over to us and said gruffly I'm sorry we were really busy to tonite-which is not my problem! So an expensive and not very relaxing dinner-and not at all like the hospitality I have experienced in Italy or other Italian restaurants here in Miami
