17 Classic Nashville Restaurants - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Before Chipotle and Qdoba opened around these parts, Nashville had Baja Burrito in Berry Hill serving big-as-your-head-burritos. They’re no spring chicken in the Nashville food scene and they’re in on the joke—the website looks like it did in 2000 and you can fax in takeout orders (though we haven’t tried that yet). That said, the menu is beautifully simple: pick your tortilla (regular, spinach, chipotle, wheat) and all the usual fillings: beans, cheese, salsa, etc. The marinated tinga chicken is especially good, and tomatillo salsa and corn pico offer some nice finishing touches. Baja also has taco options, of which the fish tacos are king. Post up under one of the patio umbrellas burrito and beer in hand, and life will feel a bit breezier." - bailey freeman, jackie gutierrez jones 2, ann walczak

Baja also has taco options, of which the fish tacos are king. Post up under one of the patio umbrellas burrito and beer in hand, and life will feel a bit breezier. Food Rundown Tinga Chicken Burrito The burritos here follow the traditional assembly line: meat, beans, cheese, toppings, and sauces, all wrapped in a stretchy tortilla that always seems to hold way more than it should. The chicken tinga (a.k.a. chipotle chicken) is tangy and tender, and served pulled as opposed to cubed. Salsas vary from pico to green tomatillo to spicy red (our favorite), and we love the grilled corn relish as the final topper. photo credit: Casey Irwin Fish Tacos Lightly crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, the fish in this taco hits all the right notes. It’s amped up by the crunchy slaw and Baja’s mystery “white sauce,” which tastes like a creamy chipotle. It’s served wrapped in surprisingly soft and pliable corn tortillas, too. photo credit: Casey Irwin Dessert Dessert here rotates, but always get a churro relleno if it’s on the menu. It’s just the right amount of crispy and filled with a smooth caramel sauce." - Bailey Freeman

Google
Great burrito place in Twelve Oaks. You can customize your own burrito. The ingredients are fresh. It can get chaotic during lunch time. But they have plenty of seating. They also have a fresh salsa bar. Highly recommend for an authentic, local burrito place in Nashville!

Lane S.

Google
I thoroughly enjoyed my steak burrito. The steak itself didn't stand out that much but did contribute. The tacqueria salsa and Mexican rice was great. I got the chipotle tortilla - I'm not sure if I actually noticed any difference versus a regular tortilla, but I'd get it again since I enjoyed the burrito as a whole. Chips and salsa were good too - salsa bar is nice. The line was out the door and around the corner of the building - despite liking the food I doubt I'd come back for dinner again for this reason. Hopefully lunch is better.

Google
Baja Burrito never misses. One of Nashville’s most consistent gems. Their proprietary recipes are loaded with real, authentic flavor — fresh, bright, layered, and never the generic “bulk ingredient” vibe. Generous portions, fair pricing, and top-tier quality every single time. The atmosphere is colorful and welcoming, the staff moves fast and stays friendly, and it’s clear this place is loved by locals for a reason. Truly a staple in the city. Easy 5 stars. Always worth the trip.

Google
This restaurant is fantastic. It's simple, delicious and has a similar style to Chipotle where they build the burrito in front of you down an assembly line. The lines are long but move fast. They have additional seating outdoors and there's a salsa bar which is known for its pineapple salsa among others. Enjoy!

If you live in Nashville and haven't gone to Baja Burrito, you need to go like right now. This place is a Nashville staple. I went at 5:45pm after work on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly pretty empty. Within minutes of me arriving there was a line out the door. That's the Baja that I know and honestly was expecting. I got a steak burrito. This was a new choice for me and as always it didn’t disappoint. Can't wait to go back again soon! Baja has a small parking lot so while parking is available it can be a little hard to park. Luckily people do tend to come and go so sometimes it’s a matter of just waiting a few minutes or just getting lucky. All in all you might just have to be a little flexible

Google
This place is always jammed. It's a tiny parking lot for a busy place but I found a spot and went on in. Love the interior. Colorful, fun. Ample seating. You counter order and build your burrito with different tortilla options, choice of beans, selection of meats and fixings. Burrito was good sized, plenty of fillings but on the bland side. Everything could have used a pinch more seasoning. Everything was quality and fresh made. Here's the Breakdown: Solid grub at a reasonable price in a cool setting with damn near impossible parking +4 stars. I'd go back.

Google
This is truly a place you don't want to miss! From burritos to tacos, a ton of fresh ingredients & so many menu choices! 😋🌮 #Food #Tacos #Burritos #Restaurant #Foodie #Delicious

Google
The food is great and the line length is predictable at certain times of day. Only downside, if you ask for peppers and onions, they don't give you very much, and will charge you double if you ask for more. I hardly get other ingredients, so I wish I wasn't up-charged so much for this. I also wish all the ingredients were in their lineup along the main bar, instead of having to ask for it like it's a secret. Other than that, great place!

Yelp
the BEST burrito in Nashville! I've been going to Baja Burrito for at least 20 years - food quality and efficiency of service have NEVER fluctuated. The pineapple salsa is so good. I got two fruit teas so I could stash one in the fridge since I was in town to visit family. This was of course my fave meal during my short visit.

Yelp
IG and yelp needs to stop hyping up this place. Someone who grew up eating California Mission Style Burritos "La Taqueria" to be exact this is a far cry from anything close to it. First red flag the chipotle set up, at least Chipotle ( I haven't ate at Chipotle in years because its quality went down) has great quac! Second Red Flag is no Dorado style, Cheese has no opportunity to melt because the meat is cold & flavorless. After a few bites we just threw away our burritos los dio asquito! False advertising! NOT A CALIFORNIA MISSION STYLE BURRITO not even hitting El Fajarito on 24th & Mission!
google avatar

Yelp
Can't beat 8 bucks for a burrito better than chipotle! The restaurant itself has a ton of options and even an outdoor seating area. Parking lot is a little tight and upon leaving my husband and I got told we "pulled out of our parking spot like sh!t but I can't hold other people against this place. Amazing find.
google avatar

JahCobia K.

Yelp
It's worth the wait! Parking is wild, but the food is amazing. Very colorful/fun spot to grab some burritos or even taco. The taco salad with salmon is to die for!

Yelp
Ok... I DO NOT want to reveal my age with this review but whatever... it's been a while since I've been coming here. A few same ppl and a few new. The menu still almost the same except the prices (for obvious reason$) as like any other place. Food has kept its signature taste and the amount of food. They still have their horchata and tea drinks, their salsa bar and regular fountain drinks. They have tables very close to each other so don't be shy, they also have a patio with umbrellas for the hot weather's, didn't see heaters but maybe they do for the winter? It's super busy and people still line up outside waiting for it to open up. Come check them out!

Yelp
If you live in Nashville and haven't gone to Baja Burrito, what are you doing?? This place is a Nashville staple. I went at 5:45pm after work on a Wednesday night and it was surprisingly pretty empty. Within minutes of me arriving there was a line out the door. That's the Baja that I know and love haha. As always the food was great. I got a steak burrito. Can't wait to go back again soon! Also Baja does have a small parking lot. You can get parking pretty easily since most people come and go, but be prepared to be a little flexible with parking if need be.

Yelp
Baja Burrito is worth the hype and the years of love. This is a great family owned business that brings so much joy to the community. It feels like a hole in the wall type of place. Parking is kind of hard depending on the time you go. Price is amazing and I have moved the food I've gotten from there.

Yelp
This place stays packed fyi. Came for lunch and the line was wrapped around the building. I left and returned that evening in hopes to get in. It was still packed with people, but the line was much shorter. The food is really good and the employees here are very friendly. I will say if you get anxious with trying to order food because you have numerous people behind you waiting, just look at the menu beforehand to know what you want. Parking is a madhouse in that area. Sheesh. They do have outdoor and indoor seating. I can really speak on the cleanliness of the place because there was stuff on the floor and some of the tables hadn't been wiped down from the previous guests. The salsa station was a bit chaotic. Especially when several people want salsa. It's a small designated area for that, that also interferes with the drink station. Have a little patience. The salmon salad was pretty good. I had a bone in my salmon, so I didn't end up finishing it. It's a personal thing lol. I highly recommend if you want something light.

Yelp
Best spot in Nashville. I eat here regularly and recommend it to everyone. Food is fresh, filling, and reasonably priced. Always a long line, but service is very fast. This is a must go spot. ALSO: Try the churros; they are amazing
google avatar

Cyborg P.

Yelp
I'm from Arizona and I'm becoming saddened by the fact I'll never have this marvel of meat and grain. This left me feeling better and I could taste every amount of freshness. literally so good I can't even somewhat compare to a language it's more of a moan
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
A classic build your own burrito experience. The salsas are great and meats are seasoned beautifully. I love this WAY more than Chipotle!
google avatar

Jane S.

Yelp
Excellent food, quick ordering, friendly staff, great atmosphere!! Will definitely make this a regular!!
google avatar

Valerie R.

Yelp
Excellent! Try the Brisket & the Barbacoa! The food was great & the staff was amazing. The atmosphere is crowded & on the noisy side, just like you'd expect at a popular hole-in-the-wall.
google avatar

Tori S.

Yelp
My friends always mention that this was a good burrito place, but I never had seen it until last week when I was just driving by! Parking is a little wonky there's some (not much) in front and around the side but then you have to walk around back but no biggie. Overall though this is a quick, no-frills burrito place for a good price. The guacamole was the only thing that was underwhelming, but the queso was a hit, and my steak burrito was awesome. You get to pick your toppings as you go. The line can get long but service is quick and easy.
google avatar

Maddie T.

Yelp
Tried this place later at night, very good food. The restaurant was a little cramped and very busy which could have been dependent on when we went but the staff was friendly. The food was good, the homemade salsas were a great touch and would definitely go again.

Yelp
I had a massive craving for a burrito and Baja Burrito was the only place that could fulfill it! The start the parking is always tricky. If you don't get the prime paring of right in the front off of Thompson lane you can find the additional parking near the back off of Columbine Place - a 2 min walk! If you come during a "slow" hour you will just walk in and order. Sometimes there is a *line so beware of time of day/day of week.* But trust that the line will go fast when you go with friends. I go for burritos but they also have tacos, taco salad and a taco plate! It is customizable so you pick your base, meat, toppings then sides (here is my order) : flour tortilla, Mexican rice, black beans, steak, pico de gallo, lettuce, jalapeños, corn salad, onions, cilantro, mild salsa, and sour cream, side of chips and queso. Then you go to the self serve salsa bar and get the mild pineapple salsa for your chips. There is plenty of seating inside but during the warmer weather sitting outside is just way better. I will say be prepared to wipe off some tables/chairs, it gets messy eating a packed burrito and there is not enough staff to keep up with the flow of people to keep the tables as clean - especially outside.
google avatar

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Line forms outside the door. Very family friendly. Priced fairly and very tasty. Great queso!
google avatar

Ac D.

Yelp
Solid yummy burritos. Stand in line and get the one of the best burritos East of the Mississippi.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
I am channeling the enthusiasm of my dear friend, Ellie, as I write this review -- Ellie loves, and I mean LOVES, Baja. Baja does not claim to be anything but exactly what it is: a fast, affordable local Chipotle-esque burrito joint, with generous portions and unlimited salsa. Here, Ellie would probably mention the pineapple salsa, which she adores and raves about. I'm more of a spice lover, so I opt for the option with the most HEAT to douse on my burrito bowls. Baja is a crowd pleaser, and it has a special way of bringing people together. You probably don't need me to tell you to try it, as it seems like the whole of Nashville gets in line every time I'm there :) Baja is a staple of the college diet, and to Ellie it's even more, it's a comfort food.
google avatar

Parker S.

Yelp
This place constantly has a line for a very good reason! Don't worry though the line moves quick and the employees are super efficient. The vibe is a casual beachy taco joint so if you are wanting fancy it wont be here. The food is so good for the price you are paying. You can get three of the best fish tacos I've had in recent memory for $8.... Some nicer restaurants nearly sell you one taco for that! The chips and queso were also pretty good, not mind blowing but not bad either. They pretty much just sell burritos and tacos so you cant really go wrong. Parking can be a bit tight if you go at a busy time but people are always coming and going so it's manageable. So glad we have a delicious casual taco joint to frequent. Give them a try!

Yelp
I went to Baja Burrito in the Berry Hill/100 Oak area today. Upon looking into it seems like it's been around for years and somehow I just passed it without noticing. I was craving an oversize Chipotle style burrito but didn't want Chipotle pricing/quality/skimpiness so I went more local. There is a lot of parking for this spot including next to the building, behind the building and across the street, as well as some street parking. Free parking will win me over everytime, and overflow free parking is almost unheard of! I arrived around noon and it was pretty busy but I was able to order right away and it moves fast! I did a small (10 inch) steak burrito, with beans, green salsa, pico, sour cream, corn, cheese, and guacamole. The rice looked great, but I'm allergic to white rice so I couldn't try it but it's Mexican restaurant/Spanish style/ red rice. The burrito was only $7 I think, which is great! I added a glass bottled drink so after tax only $11. The burrito was excellent! The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, the beans were seasoned, the meat wasn't chewy or fatty and had good flavor, and a steamed giant tortilla really helped satisfy my craving! If you are on that side of town (or want Chipotle style but not from Chipotle) I highly recommend checking them out! Also, they have a nice patio too for those who love a patio as much as I do!
google avatar

Marlainna E.

Yelp
Some of the best burritos Nashville has to offer. The options are endless and everything tastes fresh.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Tried this place for lunch the other day and it was pretty good. They have a lot of variety as far toppings. The service was very quick and it was priced around the same as I would have payed at a chain like chipotle but this spot tastes better. Will be returning soon.
google avatar

Denny K.

Yelp
Yes...(or mejor dicho, "Sí")...this place is about as good as it gets for baja-style "good eats." Ademas: (este lugar es tan bueno como para "comer bien" al estilo baja.) Flavor-filled with just the right spices and seasonings, wide range of options, fair prices. and "order-customize-fillings as you go, watching as they prepare your order right in front of you. Starter: The warm, crispy tortilla chips reminded me of my favorite Southern California taqueria. The brisket burrito was 5 stars delightful (over stuffed with "sabroso" meat, beans, rice, cheese, and more; served warm, with steamed tortilla that melted in your mouth! Salsas are nice, queso dip is excellent. And so much more to choose from...you're gonna have to get a bigger boat ...(oh, wait! that was Jaws.) You and I are gonna have to come back several times to check it all out.

Lance A.

Yelp
The blackened salmon tacos are amazing and the brisket torta is something you'll come back for again and again
google avatar

Montana W.

Yelp
The absolute best, love this place. Parking can be tough, but it's worth it. Best burritos for the price value in the city.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
An absolute favorite in the area! The La tinga chicken is a go to for my burrito. Service here is quick and friendly always. Such a great lunch or dinner spot. The salsa is fresh and delicious plus you have to try the horchata!
google avatar

Kimmy S.

Yelp
I love Mexican food! The place is super busy, during lunch hours, good luck finding a parking spot. You'll have to park at different store and walk here. I was very skeptical on Baja burrito but honestly, it did not disappoint me at all! The food here is soo good! I love that they have a salas bar (unlimited salas....YES)! This is a definite plus for me considering that lots of places do not give or provide enough salsa! The burrito was outstanding! I can't wait to come back and try the other food here.
google avatar

Vladislav G.

Yelp
I cannot stress how good this place is. I work very close to Baja and I can easily have it everyday for lunch! Their prices are great, and their food is even better. The employees are always so kind and helpful. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal.

Toni P.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years. The food is always great. The only negative I ever have to say is that the parking situation is unfortunate, and is the only reason I'm ever deterred from making a trip.
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
You know, I wasn't as wow'ed by this place as so many others. The corn and flour tortillas here aren't homemade - they're a bunch of floppy store bought shells from the story. And the fish in the fish tacos were just eh, while the brisket taco was the best part. Juicy and bursting with flavor. Wouldn't come back but glad to try it.
google avatar

Mitchell G.

Yelp
If you want a solid burrito, then look no further! Always been a mild wait, but worth it!
google avatar

Victor S.

Yelp
Very good burritos. This place stays busy. But the lines move fast and the ambience is very good. Decent prices and the servings are not skimpy. I highly recommend you give them a try.
google avatar

Sally B.

Yelp
Cute ambiance. Got the fish tacos, chips and guacamole, and the fruit tea. Fish tacos are nice and crispy and loaded with onions too. If you're not a big raw onion fan, you may want to ask them to go light with that for the fish tacos.

Mark C.

Yelp
Baja is literally the best! I am not a huge fan of Mexican-style food, but I jump at any chance to eat here. The food is always fresh and excellent. The biggest problem is that there's always a line out the door. But the service is usually pretty quick.
google avatar

Grant E.

Yelp
Finally made it into Baja burrito after having it on my must try list for way too long. Everything here is no frills with full on flavor. Serving up chipotle style burritos with much more depth of flavor this is an easy better option. The salsa bar is also a beautiful addition that is a must.
google avatar

B W.

Yelp
This place is a whole vibe! (Do we even say that anymore?) it's our absolute favorite dive near Nashville. The prices are really good and the food is excellent quality! They give you a lot for the money. Their shining star has to be the burritos of course but the peach salsa is a close second. My only complaint is that there is just this one location. Sure wish I could go grab a bite today!
google avatar

Bailey P.

Yelp
Baja is one of the go-to Mexican places for college students in the area. The food is delicious and cheap and the service is fast. It is set up "chipotle style" where you can choose what goes into your burrito/taco/etc. t This time I tried the taco plate which came with two tacos, rice and beans. I chose the guac taco which was amazing and the chicken taco which was a bit dry. The restaurant itself is kinda small and there is limited indoor and outdoor seating so not the best for large groups.
google avatar

Jenn H.

Yelp
OMG!!! Dude this was so good. Made me miss my home state of SoCal but also fulfilled my craving for real Mexican food. This little gem is tucked into a little building with so fresh toppings. I got the steak burrito and it was so good and chunky. There was a line the entire time but never lasted long because the service was very quick and friendly. Kinda like going to a chain restaurant where you order and follow your food and add on additional toppings. I love the flavor of my he hot sauces and the pineapple one was so refreshing. Since I now live in Florida i know there is no good Mexican Restaurants.
google avatar

Spencer W.

Yelp
Overall pretty tasty and I'd recommend. The reviews saying they have "huge portions" are exaggerating but they are also not small. Cool vibe to the place, and service was pretty smooth. It's chipotle style which I wasn't expecting but it was solid.
google avatar

Raegan B.

Yelp
THIS is the best lunch spot in Nashville. It's very casual, walk up and order. The food is fresh, flavorful, and makes you feel good. Their salads are tasty and filling. Baja is a local gem! It hurts me to see people at the chipotle across the street!! Their is often a line around lunchtime, but it moves quickly so don't let that dissuade you.
google avatar

Holly F.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service we stopped after The zoo, chicken burrito and fish tacos were delicious
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Best burritos in Nashville! I love the vibe of the decor when you enter the establishment. There's usually a line out the door around lunch time, but the workers are very efficient and keep the line moving. I highly recommend the barbacoa and tinga chicken for the burritos. They also have great queso and chips. Very reasonably priced especially for how huge the burritos are. Don't get overwhelmed trying to park. There is extra parking behind the building if you can't get a spot in the front. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
BEST Steak Burrito I've ever had!! The Roasted Tomato Salsa is AMAZING!!! There was a line to get in, but it went really fast and was worth every second that I had to wait!!
google avatar

Thomas P.

Yelp
Whatever you're doing, just stop. Stop it! It doesn't matter if you're watching your kids, someone else's kids, working, relaxing, prepping dinner - stop what you're doing and grab a burrito from Baja Burrito. You'll thank me later and your taste buds will thank you for treating them right. Get ready to wait for about 20 to 30 minutes in line though. That's just how the cookie crumbles when it comes to good food.
google avatar

Tommy B.

Yelp
My favorite taqueria in Nashville. Tried it for the first time today at lunch and came back with my partner for dinner. Had 5 different kinds tacos, you can't go wrong with whatever kind you get. Both times it was very busy and the line went super fast. The workers are all very nice. Check this place out. Queso rocks too.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
This is a super neat little restaurant. Fast and friendly service. The prices are really great for being in Nashville. I have eaten here a couple of times and I'll definitely go back. The "hot" salsa isn't hot at all... but we figured it was to protect us Wedos!
google avatar

Dana N.

Yelp
The line was out the door when we arrived but it moved quickly and now I know why it was so long. The food was amazing! I had three steak tacos just the way I like and a kids steak burrito for my daughter that was equally as delicious. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Kristina Y.

Yelp
Food: Ordered chicken and fish tacos. They were okay. Nothing special unfortunately for me. The salsa is amazing though. The 5 stars come from the amazing brisket torta!!! Wow! I was not expecting it to be so good. It was even slightly cold, but the flavors were amazing! Super messy so don't expect to look good eating it, but delicious! Highly recommend!!!! Overall: Good experience. Smaller inside but cute esthetics. Patio is nice too but the lights don't work so wouldn't eat out there at night unfortunately. Staff is nice and accommodating.
