CONGRATULATIONS ON RECENTLY OPENING!!! Ugh, this place is SO cool… it has three different floors and lots of drink options , I tried the skinny cucumber margarita, (which was amazing). Sadly, I didn’t get to try their food but I am looking forward to doing a review round two 😉. Anyway, fast service and killer roof top bar

Edit 7/16/2023 Baja tap bar invited us back to hopefully have a better experience in their establishment and I will say that yes we definitely did have a better meal. We tried a few of the speciality tacos and they were all very good! Margaritas were strong and flavorful. Food came out quick as always, but still no traditional server who you place your order with, all ordering is done via online form from your phone. Which I will admit is very efficient. However, during our meal we witnessed the motorcycle drip oil on other diners! I literally couldn’t make this up. Clearly the dripping motor oil is not a rare occurrence. I just don’t understand why the oil pan was not cleaned out before it was hung as decor?? So while the food, drinks, service were all good; just don’t sit under the motorcycle mounted on the wall. Original review 6/4/2023 Came for a snack and a drink on a Saturday afternoon. Pros: food and drink came out quickly. Cons: Rooftop was packed to the gills, so we went downstairs where all the tables were marked reserved. Had to find an employee to ask if we could sit anywhere. Our nachos were mediocre at best. I was not a fan of the mobile ordering system. And then to top it all off, the motorcycle hanging on the wall above our table dripped motor oil on my partner while we were eating. Just glad it didn’t ruin his shirt or drip into his food/drink.

This is our favorite spot in DC right now. Great and diverse crowd! Staff is polite and profesional. Shana is amazing and a guarantee of great experience. Happy Hour was also super cool good deal :) Divine Margaritas and Tacos!

Google
The association I work for recently hosted our member's holiday party at Baja Tap, and we loved it there! People particularly enjoyed the guacamole and chips, and the chicken tacos. The staff were super helpful, and the delicious drinks were served quickly. If you're looking to stop by a relaxed atmosphere for good value and good tasting food/drinks, or host an event for your group, check them out!

Baja Tap is the hottest new spot in Adams Morgan neighborhood! Incredible menu with 🔥 tacos and margs! Can’t wait to keep trying more of the food.

Google
Love this place. Great vibe, great rooftop, food is great! The mobile ordering with runners is a nice change of pace if you like that. Get the Birria tacos and Baja Tots. While everything in DC seems to be getting super expensive, Baja Tap's prices were very reasonable and they're happy hour prices are even better! Went late night once too and the second floor had the perfect amount of people to make it fun but not jam packed like other bars in the area. Leaving this review after my third visit and each time got better than the last.

Google
Happy Hour Review: I went in for happy hour with a friend on a Monday. It was fairly empty but steady. The service was fast and the food arrived very hot and drinks cold which was great. The food was average- just another gentrified Mexican place, but I expected this and it wasn’t bad. The margarita could have been better, the sour mix was too sour, and it felt a bit watered down. The restaurant is very cute, and I might come back, but I won’t be jumping to come back.

Yelp
Just stopped in for a drink and a quick bite. I was not expecting to find one of the BEST chicken quesadias I've ever had. Definitely have to return to try more of the menu. Also the drinks were excellent as well.

Simer C.

Yelp
Generally, the food was good but my overall experience was great. Ambiance: (4/5) The rooftop is nice if you can find a place to sit. Seating indoors is limited to 6 even if you make a reservation. Price: (4/5) Prices are average for the area. Food: (4/5) The birria tacos were very crispy and the dipping sauce/soup was flavorful. It also comes with rice and beans. The rice was great, but I was too full to try the beans. The tots were my favorite! They come with a lot of toppings and very flavorful meat. Service: (2/5) They don't really have waiters so we had to keep getting up to get water, utensils, and napkins. In conclusion, I wouldn't come here again.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot before going to a spa in the area...! Happy hour on the roof, what could be more appealing?! Delightful and delicious! Tried the pear sangria! Very refreshing. My friend and I split the combo fajitas and chicken nachos-- plenty of food for two. You order and pay using a QR code on the table. Rooftop has a ton of tables, really great on a sunny day! Remember your sunnies!

Erica S.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by for happy hour (4-7pm) on a weekday! We enjoyed chicken/shrimp fajitas and chicken nachos on the rooftop. They were both half off (about $10 each) for the Monday happy hour special--such a great deal because it was a lot of food. The $6 white wine pear sangria was also refreshingly delicious. With three levels, there are plenty of places to sit and we chose to venture to the open air rooftop. At the rooftop, you can order at the bar or you can order through the Toast app. We ordered through the app and our food came out quick. Although we did have to clarify a couple things with the bartender about our order before finalizing it in the app because some of the options were a little confusing. I would highly recommend checking out Baja Tap for happy hour-especially if you're looking for a place to go on a Monday because we found out the hard way that a lot of places in AdMo on 18th st are closed on Mondays. I will be back soon!

Eva A.

Yelp
*4.5 It's a seat yourself situation, gets very busy at happy hour. Be prepared to hover around tables to snag one and don't get there too late. Rooftop vibes were fantastic! Tacos are large, delicious, HR not limited to HR menu. Drinks were mid, variant, but it was hectically busy so that's understandable. One of the best HR deals in DC, would definitely come back!

Katie W.

Yelp
A nice, causal place with good food, but overall a bit underwhelming. They do have some really creative speciality tacos--I ordered the salmon tacos (which was pretty good) and the orange chicken tacos (which were delicious and I would get again). Also got the fried plantains which were good but pretty average. One big disappointment was my drink. I ordered a dirtier shirley, which tasted watered down even before the ice melted and didn't have much cherry flavor even with cherry vodka and grenadine. It was nice though how quick everything came and overall, service was good even without having a dedicated waiter (you order to your table via toast)

Thomas V.

Yelp
Great ambiance with stellar service with some incredibly friendly and attentive bartenders. The food is good, but this place definitely stands out more as a bar than as a restaurant. Pro tip: Get some of the sangria. They have some really interesting flavors like pear and guava that are incredibly refreshing and stand out compared to other sangrias I've had.

Andrew P.

Yelp
This is only for the drinks and environment -- I caught up with some friends spontaneously, and the goal was to check out this new spot in Adams Morgan. I walked in and appreciated how open it was -- then again, it felt just like a summer day haha. It was still happy hour, so I saw that they had $4 tacos (that's the normal price at some spots, whew) and $6 margaritas and sangrias. I didn't eat any tacos, but let me tell you how those sangrias were wonderful! The 'red' has guava in it, and the 'white' has pear in it... I can't say I know anyone who does that! I was quite pleased with the flavors! Another highlight of the place is that they have a rooftop -- from what the bartender said, you have to get there before happy hour even begins to be certain you'll get a spot -- it's from 4-7 on weekdays, so unless you work or live in the city and can get off extra early... well, that ain't happening. Who knows when the hype may die down, but with summer right around the corner, I don't think it'll be any time soon. Perhaps the next time I come, I'll split the taco tower with some people -- aesthetically it looks awesome, and it's like 24 tacos for $85... which puts it at around $3.50/taco which is a little better. Who's down??

Melissa C.

Yelp
It's a fun restaurant. I went there for a VPR watch party. I got the veggie quesadilla and it was pretty good. I'm on keto so I couldn't eat the tortilla though. Bartenders could be more proactive in asking if you're ok or need anything else, especially if customers are sitting at the bar.

Marilyn C.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and I was pleased! Their happy hour is from 4-7pm which is later than some other happy hour spots. They have $6 margs and sangria and some other food and drink specials. I recommend the Baja Tots which is served with birria! So good! Service was great and ordering was super easy via QR code. My friend and I ordered what we wanted without needing to split the bill at the end. Ambiance is definitely casual and chill. My friend and I wanted to go to the rooftop because the weather was nice but it was pretty full. Def get here early if you want a rooftop seat. Will be coming back to try out their brunch.

Jackie V.

Yelp
I went for happy hour and my one gripe was using the app at the table. I paid for drinks that were on the happy hour but cost more on the app. It was too chaotic to try and work it out at the bar so I just paid. Tots were yummy. Quesadilla was very average. Margarita was delicious. They had live music inside which was insanely loud. I'd go to happy hour until 6:30 & then head somewhere else. Rooftop looked awesome but it was closed at the time

Priya D.

Yelp
Stopped by Baja Tap while out on 18th st in Adams Morgan! Got to sit on the rooftop which was super nice! The drinks were good and very well priced. Didn't try any of the food but it did look delicious. Love how large the menu is and definitely will be back to try their food and enjoy more drinks!

Nicole L.

Yelp
Fun new spot in Adams Morgan. The first two floors have a large bars and the top floor has a huge rooftop. All good and drinks are ordered on your phone and it all came very quickly. The drinks were good but a little pricey if not ordering off the happy hour menu. The food was good!

Kim S.

Yelp
I came here for happy hour and got charged for full prices. I was told I didn't specify I wanted happy hour since the sizes are supposedly different for regular and happy hour, which I didn't realize was a thing. I did not notice anyone with different size drinking glasses. The food came out faster than the drinks, which is not a good thing since the baja tots were cold and the tacos were lukewarm. The chorizo was salty, and the tortillas were left in the warmer too long cause they were dry and hard1 I would not recommend coming here, and if you want happy hour, make sure to specify, or you will be paying double.

Jessica L.

Yelp
A fun spot for a drink or snack in AdMo. We've been several times and usually sit at the bar. There's also a rooftop space, but it's always full when we go. Bar service has been good though, so no complaints there. The margs are great. Maybe my #2 or #3 in the city, and I like that they have good happy hour specials. We've also gotten the chips and salsa, tots, and several tacos. It's all been good! The salmon taco was a surprise favorite, and I'd definitely get that again. Baja Tap is a good addition to the AdMo scene so I hope it continues to thrive!

Paola P.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for some delicious Mexican cuisine and a great atmosphere to match, Baja Tap is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm hospitality from the friendly staff who are more than happy to help you navigate their extensive menu. The food at Baja Tap is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients and bursting with flavor. Whether you're in the mood for tacos, birria, the torta or something more unique like their specialty "Taco tower" you won't be disappointed. Their homemade guacamole is a must-try, and their margaritas are the perfect complement to any meal. Speaking of ambiance, Baja Tap has got it all. The decor is a perfect blend of modern and rustic, with colorful murals adorning the walls and comfy seating that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're dining with friends, family, or solo, Baja Tap's relaxed and welcoming atmosphere is the perfect place to enjoy a meal and soak in some good vibes. Overall, I highly recommend Baja Tap for anyone looking for a top-notch Mexican restaurant experience. The food is outstanding, the service is exceptional, and the ambiance is unbeatable. You won't regret it! I will most definitely be coming back to try their happy hour and specials!

Hunter B.

Yelp
We came here for happy hour on Friday and it was packed. They have 3 levels including the roof and we got a table on the first floor. I got the house margarita and it was great. The carnitas taco was fantastic and I wish I had ordered more. The quesadilla was ok, nothing to rave about. Definitely a great place to check out for happy hour and can't wait to go back!

Madison B.

Yelp
The food here was delicious! I didn't realize that this is more of a casual restaurant where you scan barcodes and the food comes right out to you, so it wasn't exactly the vibe I was looking for. But that being said the food came super quick and the service was friendly! Definitely wouldn't recommend the margarita it was far too salty.

Olivia K.

Yelp
I tried to go here Friday with some girlfriends, but they don't take reservations and the roof was totally full by the time we got here at 6 pm. We tried again on a Monday, thinking it would be slower, and it was still packed on the roof so we sat outside on the sidewalk. To order, you use Toast Tab. No server ever comes to your table and it's hard to make substitutions or changes because it's just selecting from the menu online. I wanted to ask the bartender or server to create a mocktail for me, because there were no virgin drinks on their menu, but alas, I just got a pineapple juice from their premade selection. The food was ok! We got the queso, which was green from some herbs and looked unappealing but was okay. We also shared the fried plantains, which were the star of the show. The girls got tacos that were good, and I got a cheese quesadilla that was fine. I saw fine because it was not amazing, but not bad, and I would definitely come back and get it again. Just nothing to write home about. Overall, I would give it a 3.5 if I could. I think the roof is somewhere you come to really get your drink on, and for that I think it's a great spot. Beautiful view of 18th Street going down the hill. For amazing Mexican food, I would say this wasn't quite there. Good, not great. Overall, we had a lovely time! The Toast Tab is a pain but I'm sure it makes their jobs easier.

Beth K.

Yelp
Had a great experience with their happy hour. Arrived at 6 PM and it was already bumpin'- it was hard to get a table so we had to kind of stand in their outside area until a table opened up eventually. There's three levels and they were all really busy... there's a nice patio on the third level and there's a bar up there as well. There's a bar on each of the three levels. They have great prices for happy hour, namely $5 margaritas, sangrias, and beer!! You do have to wait to order because they're really busy!! It's got a nice vibe there overall- I recommend it.

Madison S.

Yelp
3.5/5 stars. I think this is a cool spot in AdMo and I love their rooftop. However, I don't see it being worth it outside of HH. They have a good happy hour with much more affordable food and drinks. I got the quesodilla, which was fine, but did not enjoy the shredded chicken (would recommend option for no meat or the beef/steak. Bartenders and bussers were awesome, service is great.

Kirby L.

Yelp
Wow! What a good find in Adams Morgan. Love this new spot for tacos and delicious margs! The menu has such an incredible selection, I can't wait keep trying more!

Adam T.

Yelp
Great bartenders, good happy hr deals, and super tasty food! The rooftop is so much fun too! Definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for drinks and food in Adams morgan

Amazia K.

Yelp
Wow I feel bad giving such a bad review because the staff was pleasant but the food here was soo bad. We got the nachos and with meat it comes to about $20, they are bad. It it honestly just velveeta cheese on chips. It is soo salty. There is like no meat at all. We ate it cause we had already paid and were super hungry. Literal disappointment do not order it is soo bad, the ambiance was okay. It was pretty empty because it was a Sunday night but maybe it's cute on fridays

Diego G.

Yelp
Great new spot in Adams Morgan! Dope happy hour tacos and margaritas. Sat at the table with QR codes but the staff brought the food and drinks super fast. Never felt forgotten about. Rooftop for sunny weather!!

Kehinde P.

Yelp
The place is designed so they don't have to hire employees. The food is terrible and overpriced. The drinks were OK. This place is not worth it. The staff all despondent and I don't blame them. I hope the staff can find better paying jobs.

Richard P.

Yelp
Food was great! My favorite part of the whole place was the rooftop and drinks. Can't beat the location and ambiance either. Staff was very friendly too

Stella T.

Yelp
Food is fine and the gentleman running food and the kitchen were great and very on top of it. The bar on the main floor was another story. I placed an order on the app for a drink on the menu. 15 minutes to by and I ask if they received the order. I was confused because the restaurant was almost empty. Longer haired bartender with baseball cap (main floor - 7/30/2023) tells me he had to call his manager and didn't say anything else. I sit back down and another 20 minutes go by at which point I ask him nicely to cancel the drink. He then begins rehashing the situation to two patrons at the bar who I assume are his friends saying the drink was done and "sitting right there" on the bar. I thought this was incredibly rude and immature. Sadly I won't be coming back:(

J. K.

Yelp
Tacos and salsa were good. Service was beyond terrible. Paper menu and electronic ordering app had different prices. Not a place to go out of your way for.

Ester J.

Yelp
The service is great and so is the atmosphere!! Super refreshing and the food/drinks are flavorful/strong

Sofiyan C.

Yelp
Where do I even start? This establishment is located conveniently, only a short distance away from a parking garage in Adams Morgan. As soon as you approach it, you're greeted with an open-stayed atmosphere. Walking in, you'll be immediately welcomed by the staff there as if they're inviting you into their own home. You'll find there are three levels including a roof deck (which is my personal favorite part). The food came out in a timely manner and the drinks were just so delicious. As soon as I finished my plate I just wanted to keep trying almost everything off the menu. I highly recommend this establishment if you're looking for delicious food, amazing drinks, amazing music and a great vibe, all in all.

Meg A.

Yelp
All that you need in a rooftop bar: an abundance of strung lights, large tables, friendly barkeep. Bring your friends and dance the night away!

Rachael R.

Yelp
Wow! Love this new spot in Adams Morgan! The space is beautiful and they have a fun rooftop area. The tacos and margaritas are delicious! The service is excellent and everyone is super friendly. They also have a great happy hour deal. Can't wait to return again soon!

Sarah P.

Yelp
Great vibes, the rooftop was great, the decor was cute, loved the three levels. However, the food and drinks were seriously meh. Margaritas were ok but nothing great and fairly weak. Tacos were underwhelming as were the totchos. The corn tortilla seemed stale on the tacos and there was very little on the tots and the serving was tiny. Service was fairly quick.

Morgan J.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food! Wished they hadn't run out of carne asada but the shrimp and fish tacos were great!

Laura K.

Yelp
I feel badly leaving a poor review as I had high hopes for this new admo spot, but I have been twice and had the same disappointing experience. The atmosphere is fun with live music and a nice redesign of the space, the drinks were fine, but the tacos were terrible. I am a bit baffled by how bad they were. Both times I had a taco that wasn't even edible (chorizo and a steak taco). Such a letdown. I don't understand how so much thought could be put into the concept and it seems like such little thought into the quality of the food. I can't imagine the tacos that I was served are what the head chef would like to eat for dinner. Very bummed as I was hoping to be a frequent customer. I do hope the quality of the food improves.

Annika H.

Yelp
Such a cool new spot! The drinks are fabulous and strong, especially given the price! Their take on nontraditional tacos is something AdMo was missing prior to Baja Tap!

Local Y.

Yelp
Summary: bad food and drinks, overpriced for quality, cool having 3 floors. This is a very strange establishment. It is set up like a restaurant but the emphasis is certainly not on the food. They charge $8 for hardly 1 nutrition label serving of chips and queso, but to my surprise, like another poster said, is literally velveeta cheese The margarita was unpleasant and so were their iterations. I went with two groups of ~20 people and we did not have any positive comments to say. Many staff were cold and confused. Overall we left wanting much more than we spent.

Caroline S.

Yelp
Fantastic service! It was my birthday and they made sure I was taken care of--I even spilled a beer and they replaced it within seconds. 10/10

Stewart H.

Yelp
Any positive review on here is written by someone affiliated with the restaurant. We've given it two chances and never again. Food is awful. Cold meat and some onions thrown onto a tortilla doesn't count as a taco. Carne Asada in fajitas is chewy. Torta was tasteless. Fish in the fish tacos is tasteless and not fresh. Beans were ok, but their rice was like mashed potatoes. Their guacamole is just pureed avocado with no flavor of any kind. There is no service if you sit at a table. Nobody to ask questions about the menu (they're even reluctant to give you a menu as they want you to do the job of ordering). QR code menu ordering system is ridiculous as staff have no idea where to bring the food (we got offered 7 plates of food that weren't ours) Steer clear and save your money, this place isn't as cheap as it might seem and you're still expected to tip, even though you get no service.

Brian S.

Yelp
New favorite spot in admo. Service, atmosphere, drinks, food. All quality. This the place that admo has been missing.

Josue A.

Yelp
Christian at the first floor bar was amazing!! Good drinks and good customer service!! Visiting from California!

Meredith M.

Yelp
The food is mid at best. It gets you fed and it isn't the worst. It just isn't the best. It's very clear that the food and the restaurant in general is meant to cater to those who will be drinking while watching sports games or coming back from a late night bar hopping. However, it's like with prices that low, can you honestly expect much? I think to expect anything else is delusional. This is not the place to expect an authentic Mexican meal; however, I'd go back with my friends to watch games here and drink some margs for sure. It also helps that the waiters are attentive and it is very beautiful inside.

Brendan M.

Yelp
Good Happy Hour and nice location. Be advised the special for margaritas during Happy Hour is only for the house margaritas. Their table tents are misleading.

Cam C.

Yelp
DO NOT GO! This is my first review because I was so galled by the absolutely atrocious service. We made a reservation and arrived early. They gave away our table for another group before our reservation time, which we didn't mind since mix ups happen. However, when we told them that the table was not big enough, they told us we didn't arrive on time and that they forfeited our table. Our order receipts showed that wasn't true. I was shocked that they decided to gas light us for the table issue. I have never seen a manager so unprofessional in life. Very disappointed as i had high hopes for this establishment.

Henok Z.

Yelp
By far one of the very few top spots in DC to grab authentic tacos and enjoy a wide variety of beers and beverages! If the food and service aren't enough for you to keep coming back, that patio is the icing on the cake for the best view in Adams Morgan! S/O to Chris who held down the bar during a busy rush and gave great service despite dealing with impatient customers.

Yelp
Don't bother. We made a 5:30 reservation and the GM gave our table away at 5:20 when our party began to show up. Majority of the party arrived and sat at the small table with our name written on it. we asked about a larger table at 5:45 since our party of 9 was given a table sat for 4. The GM came over at 6pm and told us it was our fault for being 'late' and initially told us the majority party needed to be here within a 15 minute window. We showed receipts proving majority party was there before 5:45, He then told us the entire party needed to be there to be sat... counteracting what he previously claimed, none of which was ever mentioned when the reservation was initially made. He then told us it was our fault for not coming in and asking to speak to a manager right away, acting like that's a normal thing people do when they enter a restaurant (there is no host stand). After falsely accusing us, gaslighting us, and arguing for 15 minutes, he gave a measly apology and offered some extra chairs. We declined, left our overly salted nachos on the table and went literally anywhere else on 18th for a better dining experience. To sum it up: wildly unprofessional management, shitty reservation system, zero regard for customer service, and day old salty nachos.
