"Bajo Sexto Taco Lounge, formerly located at 5303 Charlotte Avenue, was closed a year ago by Chef-restaurateur Jonathan Waxman. Its original location inside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum remains open." - Tierney Plumb

"With the start of the new year, Sylvan Park has lost one of its more promising restaurants and bars, as Bajo Sexto Taco Lounge has permanently shuttered. Initially closed for the holidays, the Oaxacan-leaning eatery had not yet reopened in the new year, and a pre-recorded message on the restaurant’s voicemail currently states that it would be closed for the winter months. But a representative tells Eater Nashville that it is indeed closed for good, stating that they thought the neighborhood would be conducive to the Bajo Sexto brand, but that they are now looking for other locations that would be a better fit. Opened in the spring of 2016, Bajo Sexto Taco Lounge offered talented young chef Kaelin Ulrich a venue to showcase his skills, with a greatly expanded menu compared to taco shop Bajo Sexto, its casual sibling in downtown’s Country Music Hall of Fame. But Ulrich left the restaurant approximately a year after opening, and the neighborhood never quite seemed to embrace the concept as its own." - Matt Rogers

Man what a let down. All the pics I see of this place have been great. I was really let down today. $4 for what seemed like bottom of the barrel chips (so saturated in grease). The tacos were so poorly filled. I ordered a $4 chorizo & potato taco and literally got a quarter size piece of potato. The pork Taco was the best - and best sized. I just can't see paying $4-5 for tacos here again, ever. Sad. Thinking about it a day later and I made it a 1 star. Just unacceptable to be a taco lounge.

Now I got there as soon as they opened, and was greeted by a rather happy staff. Today is the final day of taco week, so they had a special offering on both a chicken and a pork taco for $2 each, paired with a Mexican soda, this turned out to be a quick, tasty lunch...I didn't even know this place was here, but I'm sure glad that I found it, and plan to return soon, for a night of eating and drinking...p.s. the patio is a great place to dine, weather permitting.

Loooove this place. The chefs guac (pictured) was SO tasty. We ordered a little bit of everything and we're absolutely stuffed when we left. Definitely going back!

I was counting the days for this opening because I'm constantly on the hunt for better Nashville Mexican food options. Coming from Arizona I have high standards for flavor, price and consistency. This place does have great flavor and unique dishes but I felt the service wasn't quite on par for how much I was paying per individual item. It makes me uncomfortable to critique service as I've spent years in the hospitality industry myself and I understand off days but both times I went to this location I dealt with staff members who weren't engaged. The final blow was when my friend and I both ordered the animal style nachos (which tasted amazing) but the server didn't deem it necessary to mention that the dish is HUGE and would easily feed 2-3 people. When the large pizza tray of nachos arrived we both were slightly frustrated that the size of the dish wasn't mentioned. The place is fun, the location is hip and the food is flavorful. The staff seemed disinterested and the tacos were pretty pricey for the size.

This was my first trip and it was on a slow Tuesday night. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I found the margarita to be a bit heavy on the limes, but still good. The food was great, but I'll have to say that the grasshoppers were a bit too salty for me to finish them...

The manager was really nice.... the chefs and manager both expressed the fact that only 1 item on the menu is "allowed" to have a crunchy taco shell. For a taco place that's pretty limiting. It took some haggling just to get some meat thrown into a crunchy taco shell with some cheese on it. Also at 11:30am the place was completely empty other than myself and a few co-workers, yet they explained that they were out of ground beef and would not have any more after my initial order of just 4 tacos. Anyways, the food was nice but all in all it seems a bit hit or miss.

Stopped here over the holidays. Food was very good. Ate a few different tacos, had some of the guac to start, black beans on the side. After the meal, was a little baffled with all of the local foodie hype, though in fairness, I probably need to take a deeper dive into the menu. Again, very good overall, great place to eat and hang out, but don't know if it's transformational.

Very friendly staff. The food is mostly very good (except the prevalence of onions and lack of other veggies on the tacos).
