On the Grid : Bakeri

"The cozy atmosphere of this cafe will have you wanting to stay a while. In the warmer weather be sure to try to snag a seat outside so you can enjoy people watching on Wythe Avenue while simultaneously enjoying whatever you're snacking on. Be forewarned: you're going to have a hard time choosing whether you want to go sweet or savory. When in doubt, choose both. Bring a book or a good friend who won't mind a nice relaxing break from an otherwise hectic day." - Krrb

"COVID-19 update: Open for pickup and delivery. A tiny café in the heart of Williamsburg, Bakeri is one of the original neighborhood hangouts in this ever-evolving slice of Brooklyn. All of the bread and pastries are made in-house, but locals also swear by the breakfast items, like organic Eggs Provencal, baked in tomato sauce and served with a side of sourdough rye, and the lunch salads, like grapefruit avocado with kale, red onion, fennel, pepitas, and sea salt. Most people take their food to go, but the main dining room is small, cozy, and highly recommended in winter, while the backyard is a shady, cool escape in the middle of hot, humid NYC summers. There are also outposts in Greenpoint and the East Village in Manhattan. COVID-19 disclaimer: We are working hard to keep our listings as up to date as possible (deliveries, outdoor dining, etc.), but given the evolving nature of local COVID-19 restrictions, we recommend double-checking the information in this guide with any business you plan on visiting. Also, please note that we have not vetted any businesses listed within our guides for their compliance with applicable safety regulations."

Bakery is a very cute and small bakery (there's only a few seating spots located inside so it's best to take your goodies to go) Tbh, I forgot the name of this particular pastry but it was yummy and filled with blueberries! Very soft and tasty. The staff was efficient and friendly. It's great to stop by if you're enjoying a nice walk around Williamsburg.

Google
SO delicious!!! I had a glorious lunch here- rotisserie chicken sandwich, kale grapefruit salad, green smoothie, chocolate chip cookies. Everything was delectable. Fresh ingredients and flavors, beautiful presentation, generous portions. I bake a lot and have a high standard for cookies and bread- these were incredible. Gooey inside, crispy outside, surprising and delicious flavor pairings with the cardamom and hazelnuts. Sandwich bread was just as good as its insides. Great ambiance too- Everyone who works here is warm and authentic, with good recommendations about menu and bakery items. Cool soundtrack, really cute decor inside, great visual texture. Overall really welcoming energy with a lot of personality- customers sharing tables/counters, nice outdoor seating too. Can’t wait to come back 🥰

Google
Bakeri is such a cute bakery! We tried their rosemary hazelnut chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious! We loved their different take on a classic cookie. The staff was very friendly. We took this one to go however there were some seats available inside. Would return!

Google
The front staff here are incredibly unfriendly and rude. The double chocolate croissant was also raw, but maybe that’s just how they make it. Very disappointing

Google
Really well rated and generally it lives up to it. The food is definitely better than the coffee. The cinnamon roll was dynamite, especially the center. The outside was a little too crispy for my liking. The 7.6 Cortado had far too much bitterness breaking through to make it a good coffee.

Google
What a cute little delight this place was! Service was awesome and so polite and timely. Food tasted amazing and coffees were a great start to our day! If you are looking for sweet coffees this may not be your spot as they just have simple syrup for lattes, but if you love the rich aroma and flavor of espresso then you’ll be right at home! Seating is limited. But we took a spot out back on the little patio by the koi pond around 11am.

Christin Molisani

Google
One of the best cinnamon rolls in the area if you’re looking for a dense cinnamon-y sweet experience not just a bread twist with some cinnamon sprinkled on top

Everything was just like I needed. Good place for breakfast, coffee and sourdough bread

Yelp
TL;DR: get the sandwich. Will come back only for the sandwich. Bomb sandos! Good pastries. Again, BOMB sandos! Came thinking we'd like the pastries but honestly the sandwich kicked our butts - sneaky addition of mustard to the arugula was unexpectedly perfect Merci, Bakeri!

Yelp
A cozy little shop with a quaint, unassuming exterior, Bakeri serves a variety of delicious baked goods. If you aren't paying attention, you could end up walking right past their store on Wythe Ave, or writing them off as just another Williamsburg café. But the bakery clearly has a loyal following - it's busy with customers nearly every time I'm there. I've tried a few items, and so far, the apple crumble cake is my favorite. The portion size is generous, and relatively fair for the price tag. There are small apple pieces throughout the slice, and while the cake is dense, it remains soft inside. I would prefer more of a crumb cake kind of texture on top (it was closer to pie crust, in my opinion), but otherwise, I have no complaints. I ended up splitting the slice into two servings, and discovered that it tastes even better when warm.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop! Tight inside but worth the squeeze. The pastries were all excellent and freshly made. The apple flower and the cinnamon bun were to die for. I also had the latte two days in a row. Very cute vibe and a great little gem! Service was quick and we were offered water when we grabbed a seat at the little table inside.

Yelp
As you know, Williamsburg has a wealth of coffee shops from Copper Mug Coffee to Oslo to that lesser known, Starbucks Roastery. I bookmarked Bakeri as my post coffee stop after Cafe Magador. Bakeri is located across the street from CM. Entering Bakeri I felt as if I entered a bakery found somewhere in the South: small, intimate, farmhouse tables and Shabby Chic decor. In other words, Fawn's kinda place!!! Their baked goods looked delicious: focaccia bread, chocolate brownies, carrot cake and other delicious offerings. I chose a hot Chai and the Apple Cider flower and found a seat at the farmhouse table. The apple cider Flower was warmly spiced and fruity and so fresh. The Chai was good just a bit too milky for me. As I sat, it was nice to observe the service offered: a customer wanted tomato jam and the cook was going to make it for him. This place of course is a boon for the local Williamsburg residents. I can see why, there's an old fashioned kind of kindness in the service. It was nice to sit awhile and enjoy my treat. Williamsburg is lucky to have Bakeri.. Bakeri is a women owned business and has locations in Greenpoint and Ridgewood. It is now bookmarked into my Yelp collection as it should, yours.

Yelp
Cinnamon roll was one of the best i have ever had!!! Iced almond milk latte was perfect! Charming inside !

Yelp
FOOD - This was the best part of this place, although it was still a bit disappointing. I ordered a vegetable tart and although it was savory, it was served cold. The variety of food options is solid. SERVICE - Service did not meet my expectations. Was not asked if my food could be heated up as I'm usually asked elsewhere. The staff was apathetic and chatting until I flagged them down. AMBIANCE - It's quaint and charming, but very small. I wouldn't plan on eating there unless you can snag an outdoor table or something as it's very cramped. More of a to-go spot. OVERALL - This spot needs work. I didn't enjoy my experience here. The food would've been delicious if heated up. There's hundreds of places like this. Unless they fine-tuned their service, I wouldn't come back.

Yelp
I've been to Bakeri on several occasions and have tried different offerings. For this visit, I tried the apple crumb cake, but it turned out to be stale and hard. I then exchanged it for a slice of chocolate cake which was ok. Nothing really striking, but it wasn't something I'd come back for. Overall staff is friendly and the pastry presentation is very articulate. Though my experience wasn't as memorable as I hoped I do recommend it as place to check out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best ham and cheese croissants I've ever had in my life . I drive all the way from Long Island on weekends to get it . The ham and cheese croissant is definitely my favorite here but I've also tried the pies , quiche, muffins and I've never been disappointed. Next time I'm definitely going to try a plain and chocolate croissant . Yummy and get here before 10 if you want to get the ham and cheese croissants, they sell out super fast !

Yelp
The interior of this spot is adorable. The pastries were incredibly well baked. Both the olive oil loaf and the dark chocolate pistachio cardamom roll weren't sweet at all. I enjoyed trying them, but would probably skip them next time. The apple cider flower, however, was absolutely perfect!

Yelp
Such attitude. Love the product but the staff is always very unhappy and miserable. Will try again.

Yelp
Friendly staff Backyard is very charming and relaxing I only tried the cappuccino and it was great

Yelp
Had a great experience, despite running into the shop a minute before they closed. I would have welcomed being spat on due to my poor timing, but was still happily welcomed into the store. The shop itself is pretty cozy and definitely sets the tone for a products that meticulously worked over. My favorite part: the baked goods! I ordered the brownies and cookies that the shop had left at the end of the day. The brownies and cookies were perfect for my wife and I, who prefer baked goods that are balanced in their sweetness and flavor. My favorite thing in the shop was a peanut butter and chocolate cookie. Balance was the name of the game again as each bite was well represented for the two stars of the show: PB and chocolate. This was my first trip to NYC and we stayed in the heart of Manhattan. My wife and I loved this experience so much that we've already decided we're going to stay near Bakeri next time instead.

Yelp
A cozy coffee shop to relax when you arrive too early for activities or before the shops open in the morning. They always have the best tasting cup of joe, and decent breakfast foods to with it. The decor is very cozy and funky but I absolutely love it. I felt like I was back in Europe again!
google avatar

Yelp
Have frequented Bakeri each time we've visited our son; coffee is smooth with excellent flavor and the baked goods are perfect. Always happy to see gluten-free treats. Tiny and quaint location - this will be a go to for us when visiting Williamsburg.

Nicole L.

Yelp
I used to like this sweet place but what I experienced today here it's very uncomfortable. The lady staff is cleaning the widow with strong cleaner spray while we eating . The way she talks very rude. lol

Yelp
This little gem embodies the charm of what one might look for when seeking out a cute and cozy NYC cafe. New to the area, I have now dropped in two days in a row, and I am happily satisfied with my latest morning routine and tastefully curated latte from Bakeri. Be prepared for close-quarters, a possible line out the door, and a gamble at finding a place to sit but all the same, it is worth waiting for the experience alone. I found the coffee to be perfectly made, and the pastries don't disappoint. Yesterday I had a fabulous pistachio raspberry muffin; I savored every bite. Today I opted for the chocolate-chip pumpkin bread, which was quite tasty but a little dry for my palate. That said, I will be back to try more of this sweet cafe's offerings. Enjoy!

Yelp
I asked about cookies and was shamed by the mean barista. I thought this was a bakery, but I guess it's a bakeri.
google avatar

Lakshmi L.

Yelp
A very French bakery in Williamsburg. I pass by it nearly everyday and stop by to pick up breakfast every now and then when the line isn't snaking around the block. The space is small and they are open only from 8am to 3pm which limits my visits to the morning hours. They also have some great pastries and croissants which change every other day. Their best offerings are the kale and cheese roll, the ham and cheese roll, the banana date bread, savory tart, and their financier's. They used to make a very good chocolate cake. So if you are there on a day they have it, get it.

Bruno B.

Yelp
The breakfast and bread here is fantastic, incredibly fresh and well made with good serving sizes for the price. Although the service is a little hit and miss, the food is unbelievably satisfying and delicious
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
Love their sweets and breakfast seemed like a good idea but if you order the eggs with trout for $14 you'll spend the same amount of minutes sifting thru fish bones. Not a fun way to start the day after spending $$$ on an already small portion of bland food I had to meticulously dissect to not eat bones. I usually don't leave reviews unless I am super pleased but this was a particularly poor experience.
google avatar

Geena K.

Yelp
I ordered a focaccia sandwich with tomato jam, cheese, and arugula and a blueberry almond pastry. Both were so delicious!! The focaccia bread was amazing. It was crispy, yet chewy. I took a couple minutes to look at all of the baked goods before ordering. Everyone working that I interacted with during my visit was super friendly and patient. I can't wait to go back!!
google avatar

Yelp
Picked up some pastries for my wife for Valentine's Day. I stopped by later in the afternoon around three, but they still had a decent selection. We had the chocolate / rosemary / hazelnut cookie, the honey cake, the raspberry jam croissant, and the lemon / strawberry / poppy muffin. Baked good we're great across the board. I liked the creativity and that everything had an interesting twist.
google avatar

Anita V.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Bakeri for sweet treat and coffee . My husband wanted the strawberry peach lemon poppy seed muffin it was delicious . I ordered a ice coffee was soooop bitter , no simple syrup saved the iced coffee .I would go back for a pastrie and skip the ice coffee

Isabella P.

Yelp
bakeri's food and coffee are exceptional every single time but what really makes this place standout is the unendingly lovely staff. I feel so deeply comfortable and affirmed and the space feels queer and welcoming like few do. You can tell the people there love each other and it comes out in every moment of my experience there. Just want to say thanks.

S N.

Yelp
There's cute place and good treat for coffee lovers. I liked enough spaced each table or seats.

Andrew M.

Yelp
You know Bakeri is the best because it is the place you go first, and if it's too crowded then you hang your head and shuffle off to one of the other coffee shops in the area. Great croissants too.
google avatar

Gabie E.

Yelp
A cute cafe located near Domino Park. Small cafe that serves beverages, snacks, and a lunch menu. They have a small seating area inside and a couple tables outside. The lunch menu does close at 4 but they have small snacks readily available. I got a small latte and ham and cheese roll. The latte was perfect; I don't normally add sugar so it wasn't too bitter to taste without any. I was very happy with the ham and cheese roll. The bread was soft and lightly seasoned with herbs, and the cheese added a light flavor. I do wish I asked for it warmed up, it probably would've been even better! I would come again to hopefully try their lunch menu.

Yelp
Best food man.... The avocado lettuce tomato sandwich was extraordinary. The food was superior and top notch, and beyond any expectations. Seriously delicious and I cannot recommend it enough. They have a backyard garden which could use a renovation, but was still charming and added to the tea and vibes
google avatar

Margarita F.

Yelp
A little disappointing because Bakeri looked much better in pictures :/ it's a very tiny spot in Williamsburg. There is limited seating, but it's great to cozy up with an engaging book while sipping on some tea. There is one communal table and a couple of tables in the corner. However, it was a little annoying because I kept overheating other people's conversations :( The drinks and service were very ok (nothing special). I got a latte, and it was a little overpriced for the taste and even for the area.
google avatar

Ramiah T.

Yelp
Cute little whole in the wall cafe serving up great coffee, freshly made pastries and breads. We ordered the Avocado Toast and Biscuit & eggs... both were bomb. Grabbed some goodies to go. Staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend checking this spot out.
google avatar

Casondra P.

Yelp
The quiche. THE QUICHE. Go get it right now. Why are you still sitting there!? GOOOOO! This quiche is huge. It's overflowing with veggies - leeks, potato, and cauliflower. It has perfect crust. It is baked to perfection. You will almost certainly have a wet dream about it later. I can't remember what else I had here because the quiche is dominating my memory. But I know they also had great coffee and a mouth-watering selection of incredibly pastries, both sweet and savory. To die for. Go here.

Yelp
We were looking for a low-key place to grab a few select pastries to continue our day and take a break from walking around Williamsburg. We got here and the smell spoke ahead of the presentation, so I was psyched. After agonizing over the many potential sweet options, we went for the Grapefruit Apricot mini-loaf, the Raspberry Lavendar Crumble bar, and Carrot Cupcake. We sat at the long-table across from the cashier and watched as the staff made their baked goods. The three goodies were delivered to us with a bonus Raspberry Cherry brioche that we did not order, but also did not send back - thanks! Grapefruit Apricot Mini-Loaf - the item I was most impressed by. This was a mini-loaf cake with icing on the top. The cake was moist enough without feeling dense, and the light layer of sweetness from the icing did good to finish the pastry off. Raspberry Lavendar Crumble Bar - as much as I wanted to like this item, I could not. The bar had an overpowering tartness of the raspberry, while the bar was absent of its supposed crumble. When I considered it more, I realised the element that was missing - ANY SEMBLANCE OF THE SO CALLED "LAVENDAR". Never have I felt so betrayed by a pastry. Carrot Cupcake - again, solid icing, but that was it. The cake itself did not have anything interesting to it and was honestly too dry to even finish. The shaved coconut was an odd gamble to make, and did not add to the experience. Raspberry Cherry Brioche - this was second up in terms of desirability. This was perfectly flaky with a nice balance of fruit and gooeyness to balance it out. Overall, the experience was quite mediocre.

Yelp
We came here for dessert after drinks. Nice pet friendly bakery. We had the chocolate buttermilk cake which was rich and had great texture, not the most chocolatey but still delicious. We also had the cold brew which is great. Staff is also very friendly.

Irfan A.

Yelp
It's not how you ran business. were buying goods for our office ones or twice a week, they turn me down today for buying too much. Copy that! Never stepping my foot in that store again. Rude people !
google avatar

Gabriel T.

Yelp
it's fine. The space is "quaint" but also tiny, dark, and cramped. They run out of things early on. Pastries are good, but they're good at like 345 other places nearby too. Same for the coffee. I never find the staff that friendly. Not the people behind the counter, not the people taking out the trash who push me aside as if I've irritated them by patronizing their café and getting in their way. They have a small outdoor seating area that's also very cramped. Lots of strollers always. It's fine.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab some treats and opted for the Rhubarb coffee cake, Mini lemon bar and Mini raspberry bar. The coffee cake had great flavor but was a little dry. The bars were delicious and I love that they sell mini versions. I kind of regret not getting the pie because that looked great. 3.5 stars.

Reb A.

Yelp
lovely baked goods and beverages in a warm setting. the service and demeanor of some employees however is insulting to paying customers. the employees are very rude when preparing an order of baked goods and unhelpful when trying to order a coffee to go as well. there's no reason to treat customers with such disdain especially when there are plenty of other bakeries in Greenpoint. my advice to management is to work on the customer service.

Maya E.

Yelp
Loved Bakeri! I got a scone and coffee and both were incredible. Service was great despite it being super busy.
google avatar

Vickie W.

Yelp
Always a line due to how tiny this place is, but the pastry case inside is pure magic. I always try to slip away and stop by here when I'm in Williamsburg. Have definitely not tried enough of their treats, but recently got the egg sandwich on a cheddar and jalapeno biscuit - life-giving on a cold Monday morning.

Sophie P.

Yelp
Great pastries. Subpar breakfast food and service. I got the avocado tartine and the lavender shortbread. The shortbread was good; the avocado tartine was just avocado on toast--something you could get anywhere else or make at home. The tartine took over 20 minutes to make it to the table and they added an additional item to my tab that I didn't order. When we flagged the issue with the bill, the wait staff seemed frustrated with us (and someone in our party was in line for the bathroom and heard the kitchen talking shit about our table for flagging the issue lol). All in all, for a place called bakeri, get their baked goods and skip the food.

Victor G.

Yelp
Wow. Loved the americano coffee and brownie. There were many other choices. Friendly staff. Cute small garden area in the back.

Archer D.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience. There food is fresh and there super friendly and helpful. if your in Brooklyn definitely try to go here.
google avatar

Alexander R.

Yelp
This place makes me feel at peace. So glad the back yard is open again! I like to go here when I'm having a bad day to recenter myself. Grab and go sandwiches are great and cheap for the neighborhood and quality of ingredients. Love the savory scones! One regret is that they rarely serve the specialty breads at this location. Their caramelized onion poppyseed sourdough loaf changed my idea of bread but I haven't seen it since that first time.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Excellent pastries. Had the Apple Cider Flower and Skolebrod. Both fantastic, especially the skolebrod. My wife commented about the skolebrod: "favorite pastry I've ever had." Sounds about right to me too. I've had some other amazing pastries, and this is definitely a contender for the best!

Yelp
I normally go to the one in Greenpoint, where you can see the whole kitchen in operation. Since I changed my crossfit box, I now pass this place on a regular basis. I go in to get cheat food every once in a while on a Friday. In the past, I had Cheese and Kale roll with chili flakes and it was totally different from the one they made in Greenpoint. It does give a bit of a kick, but it is really not I like. Yesterday, I went in to get a savory tart, a chocolate cake and a strawberry crumble. It was the worst I ever had in New York for a while. Especially the so called Strawberry Crumble. It was just a big lump of dough that stick together. It was NO crumble and no strawberries. As for the Chocolate Cake, it was dry, you could hit it with a spoon and it will break......How horrible it is. Someone need to do some quality check of the product being sold in this place. One thing I say, it was nice of them to pack each item in separate box for me as I like.
google avatar

Tsunagu I.

Yelp
Bakeri caught my attention because when I walked by, there was a yuge line going down the block for this one bakery. I knew I had to try it out when I got the chance. I ordered a few things from them, the grapefruit yogurt loaf, rosemary hazelnut chocolate chip cookie, raspberry lavender crumble bar and coconut macaroon. The loaf was my favorite; it was so fulling and very tasty - not too sweet, not too citrus, and not too oily. The other items were standard good. The cookie was large and fluffy and soft, and slightly salted, which was not necessarily my cup of tea.
google avatar

Chauntel B.

Yelp
Tiny tiny bakery shop! I has a baguette, avocado tomato sandwich, roasted chicken sandwich, the grapefruit salad, matcha latte and chai latte. Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! It was super busy with people constantly moving in and out. Fresh bread wonderful food and delicious drinks. This is a great spot for a coffee and baguette. They're super quick and are not impatient if you take time ordering like I did! Great selection of food and most of their bread is dairy free. This is my go to spot now!
google avatar

Wei P.

Yelp
Cozy neighborhood coffee shop with a great selection of food as well. I always get the raspberry pistachio muffin when I pass by and it's unbeatable. The ordering and line system is a bit hectic, but it's worth the anxiety to get a great cup of coffee and a pastry. Would visit during off peak hours if possible.

Yelp
Sweet (pun intended) local meeting spot. More than just a bakery! Had breakfast there. Delicious! And their pastries are amazing! Cute and quaint. Felt like I was back in Paris.
