Where to Eat and Drink in the NoMo Neighborhood

"This new concept brings together two adored North Charleston establishments, EVO and Holy City Brewing. Grab a slice of pistachio pesto or Pork Trifecta while sipping one of several brand new draught beers that guests can only find at the restaurant." - Parker Milner

This was my second time visiting. The first time I was already in the area but this time, I drove from Moncks Corner. It was worth it. We enjoyed two salads, meatballs, cheese bread and a pepperoni pizza with hot honey. Everything was amazing but the ceasar salad is my personal favorite. It's big, fresh, crisp, and flavorful with the right amount of dressing. The marinara sauce is so flavorful. I can taste all the garlic, herbs and spices. We were full so we took our leftover pizza home. It reheats great in the air fryer.

I've been driving by this place for years without stopping in because I thought it was just a bar. I found the service to be genuine and smooth. The inside, and the outside were cozy and clean, not over packed with people. The pizza was beyond good. I found the food to be good enough to break my gluten free diet once every week or so. If you like pizza you won't be disappointed!

Google
“Big salad” is a must to try. I was obsessed with their green olives on salad. For pizza I ordered mushroom with added bacon. Tasted so good. Next time I would ask them to do gluten free crust maybe which is thinner. I love thin crust. The only downfall of the pizza was excessive amount of grease which I think came from bacon and caramelized onion. Other than that, it was just perfect. Definitely try your own favorite pizza. You will love it.

Google
I was definitely surprised by this place! Hands down some of the best pizza in the area. It even better that it's located in a shopping center with plenty of FREE parking and away from the hustle and bustle and headache of downtown Charleston. Service was also spot on. Their garlic knot appetizer was different and unlike any other garlic knot I've ever had. I will definitely be back!

Google
Extremely impressed with Baker Bar! I can’t believe it’s taken this long for me to come here. I’ve been missing out! McKenna and Becca are extremely nice and so helpful when it came to ordering off their menu. The best gluten free pizza I have ever had in my life. I’ve traveled the world and have had many pizzas by the way. I will for sure be back!

Google
We don’t live here, however we are here pretty often. We never miss eating from Baker’s Bar. Service was excellent, food is so good. The salad is my fave salad by far. We got the new pesto and supreme. Everything was excellent. Must try.

Google
Pizza and salad were good! I like my salad dressed a little more with caesar but pizza was yummy. LOVE the charred pepperoni! Next time i will try the white. Cute family place !

Google
I pride myself on finding the best pizza places- this one is a hidden gem. The pizza is super fresh and the crust is awesome. They have lots of different options and we’ve never had a bad meal here. Their happy hour is great and most of the staff is great too. It’s a casual place- a good change in pace from the downtown dining scene. The pesto, pepperoni, and mushroom are our top favorites!!

Yelp
Best Italian sub I've ever had, no doubt! (Can I swear here?) I was floored. I heard their pizza is awesome too. Friendly, positive and warm vibe, they seem like nice people. Give them a shot.

Yelp
Bolognese pizza. So good. Asked to have the table wiped. Never happened. Get it crispy. Sourdough May be a little doughy. Loud music but no tv sound. Can't call your place a sports bar when playing loud music and they won't turn on tv sound.

Yelp
Ran in for a pizza.. empty, other than 2 tables, 1 person at the bar .. placed my order at the bar to take home .. within 10 /12 minutes the pizza was ready.. 28.00 for a 12 inch pie mushroom and sausage .. box felt heavy, warm .. got home in 5 minutes .. and took one look and this mess .. so much cheese, black burnt bottom.. gooey gross disgusting .. pizza .. the cheap cheese took over , the dough didn't rise and the bottom was black .. didn't smell good either .. two bites and then tossed it in the outside trash can ,( not something id consider consuming ) ! I went back out and picked up a frozen pizza .. 1000. Times better, for 11.00 bucks.. and I'm not one for frozen pizza.. but this was my solution for dinner. how can this place stay in business? Definitely won't return!

Yelp
It's a friendly, seat yourself kind of place. Our waitress McKenzie came right over. She was very friendly, cheerful and did a great job. We ordered the garlic knot which was amazing, and then had the veggie pizza which was also amazing and delicious. We were there at a busy time of day, with dine in and many take out orders and our order still came quickly. We were super happy to have found this place and will definitely be back.

Yelp
It's obviously a locals favorite. We stayed in a hotel nearby and are so glad we grabbed pizza here. Locals are really lucky to have this quality pizza. We ordered the new pesto and sat at one of two tables outside. Pizzas crust is not too thick, or too thin. Loved this and would be back often if we lived here.

Yelp
My search for a takeout pizza led me to this strip mall establishment. Pickup wasn't ideal as I arrived quickly and having gotten no notification went grocery shopping next door. When I arrived, however, my pizza was just starting to get cold. Never trust the online status updates. I liked the pizza; the Gruyere cheese added a distinctive flavor note and the crust was quite fluffy. Toppings were quite overpriced, however, and there was too much salt. Conversely, the calabrian chili I got on the side was 100% worth the cost. I don't know how they make it, but that is one flavorful chili oil. Overall, though, when my online delivery app snuck in a tip for takeout somehow, I end up paying almost $30 for a single personal pizza, which even for Charleston is a bit much.

Yelp
This pizza is extremely cheesy and not in a good way. I would consider this a pizza for children tasting like a Pizza Hut/chuckee cheese hybrid pie. The construction is also not well put together, the sauce separated from cheese and toppings separated from both. The quality of ingredients also leaves a lot to be desired- the pepperonis were barely cooked, cheese seemed low quality and the sauce lacked flavor. We asked for this to be cooked well done but the center was extremely floppy and soft in the center. Overall I would not order the pizza again. The salad and dressing were delicious though.
google avatar

Becky R.

Yelp
Very impressive friendly staff as only 2 people working the front of the house. The place was packed and the food was delicious and quick. Loved the big salad, meatballs, margarita pizza and mushrooms pizza.

Terence M.

Yelp
Honestly, the waitress did a great job--she was attentive and friendly, and the service overall was solid. The pizza was good and definitely enjoyable. However, I have to say it was extremely disappointing--and frankly a bit insulting--to be served "yankee tea" that was just unsweetened tea with sugar packets on the side. As someone from Charleston, I expect a place to understand the basics of making proper sweet tea. It's not difficult or expensive to brew a real batch of sweet tea. If you're going to cut corners, at least use simple syrup, which dissolves in cold beverages. Otherwise, the sugar just sits at the bottom of the glass, completely undissolved, and you're left with a poor excuse for what should be a staple drink. This might seem like a small thing, but to people who know and love sweet tea, it makes a big difference. Please consider putting in the effort to do it right--your local guests will thank you!

Yelp
Super casual pizza join in the Windermere shopping center. They apparently started doing a Football Sunday menu where they have sliders and hotdogs for $3, or chili for $6 a cup. Discounted drinks as well. Overall, the hotdog was the best. Fun place to watch the game with a very inexpensive tab. The owner was running a one man show, which was super impressive. Would have liked to try the pizza, guess that's my reason to go back!

Yelp
When we entered this restaurant I felt suffocated from the bleach that they use to clean it. We ordered pizza (supreme) it was so good. However, the drinks was AWFUL! We ordered sweet tea and lemonade and water and all of them were not drinkable. I do not recommend coming here. Just go elsewhere. Their ice I guess thats what made our drinks taste AWFUL! Very disappointing!!!

Yelp
We were on our first stop on our road trip to Tennessee and we decided to stop here and weren't really sure at first but after trying our first appetizer we knew we chose the right place we also had a very good waitress that treated us well and got our food to us fast and we loved the atmosphere as we could tell it was a very local spot with a bar, arcade, and very entertaining shows on the tv overall 5 stars. PS get the meat ball and garlic knot!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Best pizza in South Carolina & beyond. Love the atmosphere, the staff is authentic and friendly. Give it a try.

Yelp
Pizza is alway amazing and tasty, this place does a great job on their dough. Gotta try their salads....yugeeeeeee and always good lettuce is used. Cool little atmosphere inside too, with a few arcade games for the kids, but not a loud annoying kinda thing. Staff has always been friendly and the food has always been good. I always get the meatballs and the cheesy bread too, both apps are stupid good.

Yelp
Tonight I was really feeling pizza but really didn't feel like dealing with the downtown parking situation just for takeout. I decided to try a new place closer to home and decided on Bakers Bar. I ordered online which was really easy. I received a text after ordering saying it would be 30 minutes. Not bad for a Saturday night at 7pm! But, they really blew me away when after only 10 minutes, I received another text saying it was ready! When I went to pick it up, the place was packed. Not a single open table inside or out, and the bar was full too. How they were able to get my pizza ready in 10 minutes, I have no idea but that alone would earn a good review from me. However, not only were the fast, but the pizza was excellent as well! I ordered a cheese pizza with feta added. It was awesome! The crust was the perfect thickness and I'm very excited for my left overs. I only got takeout but the inside looked super cute. It even has some arcade games. I definitely want to come back for a dine in experience!

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place for awhile. We arrived early and took advantage of happy hour... 25% off wine. We ordered a half Big Salad and it was huge and delicious. I forgot to get a picture before we ate it all! We also had the Spicy Pesto, it was good but needed alittle more garlic and maybe some salt. We will be back!

Yelp
Family was hungry Baker's came up on my YELP! We're glad it did. Ordered the 16" with meatballs! So yum! Beautiful deep dark crust with a slight hint of yeast. Soooo satisfying. Just what we were dying for. mmm!

Yelp
Speak easy for pizza? You bet! In an unassuming street corner, in the basement is a small wood fire pizza place. The place discourages cell phones and has limited seating. Fits about 25 customers, so I always have a second plan if it's packed. Maybe Fast & French or Blind Tiger. Quirky vibe for sure. Check out their insta bakersbarCHS. It's laid back too, so don't be in a rush. Just be chill, yo. Speakeasy style. The medium pizza was a good size and the large are a bit bigger than I expected. I had their garlic knot, but it was a bit burnt, so I probably will skip the knot next time. Pretty fair prices and a decent selection of drinks. This pizza dive is worth it -- just like vinyl.

Yelp
Hands down our favorite pizza place in Charleston. Honestly our favorite place to go period. Super efficient, funny, attentive staff. Family atmosphere but my husband and I come here and sit at the bar to chill just us and love it. Our favorites are the new Pesto and the pepperoni. The salads are also massive and so delicious. Got a half to split three ways as an appetizer the other day and we all got plenty. Love it here.

Yelp
Yep, it is delicious pizza, but because it is so tiny and cramped - it felt more like a 'no pizza for you!' spot. We arrived and sat at the bar and waited a good 10 minutes before being thrown some menus. Trust me, no frills here. We chatted with several friendly customers, but found that this was not going to be a good spot to try to eat on two pizzas, so decide to change our order to go. When we finally wrangled one of the two employees (in a packed area with maybe 35 people, he said OK, 5 to 10 minutes. We paid and gave our seats to 2 of the many people still in line to get in. Fast forward (tongue in cheek) one hour later we had our pizza. Every single person in that place got their orders before us! Look this was good, and to some, this may not be a deterrent, but I'll nosh elsewhere.

Yelp
With Uneeda Sicilian gone, we needed a new local "go to" pizza place where we can act like pizza snobs and discuss the world's best pizza. BB stepped up to the plate on our first visit and hit a triple. When you walk down the stairs and enter the stone forward basement space, you feel like you're one of the cool kids who knows exactly where to go to find great pizza. YES, BB is small, cramped, and you'll likely have to wait if you go after 6. The trade off is that their intimate setup promotes interaction and community among tables...a pizza lovers community! Hey, we all love pizza. Let's talk about it. We spoke with tables on either side of us about where we're/they're from (we live downtown) and how we ended up being one of the cool kids. The pizza, salad, and the (gotta have) wine were all stellar and listed at an EXTREMELY reasonable downtown price point. For two people, it was $72 with tip. Again, extremely reasonable. The (custom, build your own) pizza checks off every box in that it's chewy, crunchy, has a little char, and cheesy without being greasy. The Big Salad was fresh and the vin perfectly complemented the crust's saltiness. We also enjoyed the old school Chianti that's served in an old school basket holder (unsure what you call these things) reminiscent of Little Italy. Service was rushed, but consistent and without error. We look forward to our next walk down East Bay, basement detour, and pie!

Yelp
It's ok. Pizza. Good tasting dough --but a little too thick for my taste, cheese is weird--it's like blended with something other than mozz and never cooked enough--I've been 2x. Second time pizza cooked better then the first. But you know you have piZZA problems when a 9 year old says they don't like it Salad. Caesar Very good. Fresh tasty not over or under dressed. Could use a little fresh parm and some anchovies but ‍1/2 size enough for 2-3 people. Wish there was a dude option. (Not that it matters because I'm never going back) Meatballs tasty-- but hard to get at in the little fancy Staub pot they're served in Staff. 1st time I went was a highlight--server knew the menu, was super cool, recommended this chili crisp thing they have which was better then the pizza. 2nd time not so much was told it is illegal to sit at the bar with a "kid under 18". It's not and drinking age is 21 so what's the ducking difference--oh--you're worried about your tips? Meanwhile there were at least 2 barstool Open the entire time we were there. Oh and that was after standing near the bar for 3-5 minutes without anyone acknowledging us and when someone did I asked if we could sit at the bar and before a yes or no covered with bartender. --this is pretty standard for Charleston service tho- overly laid back and self centric rather than guest focused---but would you like a drink while you're waiting for a table --no thanks--you can get your tips from the 10 empty bar seats Get a table--need to wait for the windex of r whatever cleaning solution is used to dry before sitting Order food and wine all at once No real issues. Wine is old--not in a blues brothers kinda way but in a "this bottle was opened a day or two ago kinda way ---like flat flat tasting ask if the bottle was opened today. Server say I don't think so--probably yesterday--no problem would you mind cracking a fresh bottle--I'll check Comes back 5 minutes later with a little wine in a rocks glass (warm from dishwasher) here taste this. I say it's a little different --says that's from the same bottle and walks away. Never to address the issue --am I at fucking applebys? My kid tells me the server and bartender are looking at our table and talking about us Now I don't know what the standards are now --I no longer work in restaurants--but I did for 30 years--I've worked for Jean Georges, orient express company for a number of years (5 diamond hotel), Marriott, and a number of the top restaurants around New Orleans, NEW York City, cut my teeth in the San Francisco Bay Area--and yes...in Charleston as well. I've worked as a chef and consultant all over the world from Asia, to Russia to France --I've been a server and a bartender----with by the glass wine service we were trained to bring the bottle to the table, show the guest the label and allow them to taste it for freshness (and also preference) --in this for instance maybe the bottle is off--bring a new one to the table--you want to play games? so I had no drinkable wine and another bad taste in my mouth. Maybe they're short staffed,? Maybe they're having a bad day? Maybe there's bad training? I don't know I don't care--these are not my problems--I'm the guest-- I'm Paying you to take care of me --I'm giving you money so I can relax instead of cooking and cleaning ---when the bill comes up to $60 for a pizza a salad an app a glass of wine (this was removed from the bill and bill was $49) everyone should be on their best.

Yelp
Stopped by after a windy day at Folly beach. It's did not disappoint. Munchkin ordered buttered noodles (which he loved) We started with the meatballs. My husband is very picky and he said they were the best he has had besides his own. Just needed a bit more sauce. I ordered the spicy pesto pizza which was so amazing. Crust was perfect and the star was the garlic confit. We also got the supreme and it was fine but not as amazing as the spicy pesto. Split a bottle Chianti and the night was complete. Our server, Marisa, was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
This place is amazing with such fresh food! It's a neighborhood bar, but everyone is welcomed. I was a newbie and everyone embraced me rather quickly. To be fair though, I'm rather charming. lol. Shout out to wait staff/bartender Charlie and Raina. They are sunshine. Happy Hour offerings are ridiculous! The price points are pleasing to the wallet. There are great Happy Hour choices, too. Here is my future plan--run the Greenway and, then, pop in for a beer.

Yelp
Craving for pizza on this stormy day in Charleston SC. Found this busy pizza place near our hotel and loved the family atmosphere. Ordered a large Mushroom pizza with mornay, mozerella, bleu cheese, caramelized onions, balsamic drizz and added roasted chicken. And margarita. The pizza was great!!!! So great I forgot to take a picture before it was attacked. Thanks to our server/barista for a great job.

Josh A.

Yelp
While spending a week in Charleston on business, I found this little establishment. By far the best meal I had while visiting the city. My food was out quickly and the employees were very attentive. Glad I found this little restaurant during my time down there!

Yelp
Asked around for a good local pizza joint and was directed to Baler's Bar. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and they were delicious. Perfectly sized for sharing. For the pizza we ordered a Supreme which was the closest thing to my husband's favorite pepperoni, mushroom and sausage. The crust was nice and chewy without being thick and too bready. The sauce was great too. We will be back for more.

Lucas M.

Yelp
Sauce has perfect tang to it. Great amount. Crust is flavorful. Top top tier pie. Cool place to hang out too

Yelp
My partner and I ordered a margarita pizza and a pepperoni roll for dinner. A relative made the suggestion that we order from Baker's Bar on our trip to Charleston. We were unable to dine in but we did take out. We enjoyed the pizza best! I like how crunchy the crust was and how they used cornmeal on the bottom of the pizza! It is hard to find good pizza where we live so we like to try new places wherever we go! We enjoyed the flavor of the pizza and especially the crunchy crust! The pepperoni roll was just ok so I would order another pizza but skip the roll. The inside of the pizza place was great and I loved how it was decorated! It was a local place and is sometimes a speakeasy! It is a small place so if you did dine in I recommend making a reservation or getting to Baker's Bar early to eat. When we are back in Charleston we will definitely be going back to Baker's Bar! Order from them during these times! It's great to support local places!

Yelp
Horrible staff . Horrible customer experience..... You have to be a good person to run any business ... Don't profile the customer's it's bad for business ....

Yelp
Josh at 5Church told us about this speakeasy pizza joint earlier in the day, so we made it a point to pop in for a late night bite, especially after being quite disappointed by Burwell's around the corner. Josh is from New Jersey/New York area, as am I. My future husband and I know good pizza, so when Josh said this was some of the best pizza he's had since coming down South from up North, we had to test his theory. He was right, it was pretty darn good. We got a special pie mind you (not one straight off the menu but a different one offered on this particular night that came as a recommendation from the bartender). While we didn't test out the plain slice, I would still give this pizza a solid 6.2 on the Barstool pizza review El Pres scale. That's not bad for Charleston!! Also, I just f*cking love Speakeasy vibes, so I think the ambience here really spoke to me more than anything. Future husband and I sat at the bar. I love sitting at bars with him because we both love to chat with other people, aka the bartenders, just as much as we like to chat with each other. Loves a good banter over pizza and drinks ya know? I am on a tequila kick so I had the bartender whip me up some sort of version of a super sweet marg. Could've done without some of the added ingredients because I am not big on sugary drinks, but it hit the spot with the complement of the pie, me thinks. We each had two slices at Bakers Bar and then called an Uber home. As per usual, when Joey says it's time to go home, I go harder, so I had him leave me out a third slice before he tucked the other leftover slices away into our hotel mini fridge. I am not big on leftovers so I needed to finish my overindulging night done right. I passed out after that third slice but definitely went to bed happy. Good pizza makes me happy! I woke up in the middle of the night to post this review and am feeling only slightly regretful that I ate all that pizza & drank all dem drinks. I'm a really healthy person usually and this trip to Charleston has me behaving in quite the opposite manner from my usual tendencies, so that's the only reason why I feel slightly regretful. You only live once, so go enjoy the pizza and have a 3rd slice naked in your hotel bed if it's speaking to you.

Andy N.

Yelp
Pizza - hands down best dough and flavor in town (coming from a New Yorker). No doubt about that. However, this past week was the final strike in terms of losing their customer base - last minute the place decides to not open (day before thanksgiving) when they've explicitly mentioned they would be. Additionally, this place has no respect for its fans and customers who have grown them to where they are today. It's clear from their waiting staff and overall lax attitude of being open/closed. Multiple customers were outside waiting at 4pm when they realized they posted on their insta page last min about being closed (same day). Sorry to say they've lost a customer, but I am sure with their popularity the owner does not care one bit.
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
So I decided to give this place one more chance, pizza was good and as I expected, it was a "seat yourself" place. I think they had an "off day" when we tried last time. The pizza was a bit overdone but the service was good and it was an overall good experience
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I only got takeout so this review is not reflective of the dine-in experience. Ordered a large supreme pizza on a Friday night. Was shocked at the blazing speed at which it was ready (15-20 mins). Heck I could've waited longer and been just as happy once I saw the final product. The pizza was fantastic! Best I've had in Charleston. The crust really sets it apart from competitors; it's chewy and full of flavor. Crust lovers, your Mecca is calling.

Yelp
Bakers bar pizza remains to be my most favorite slice in town. Though I am usually a person who likes loads of toppings on my pizza, their cheese pizza is nothing short of perfection. Order extra so you can have leftovers, somehow it is even better the next day. Don't miss the big house salad with fresh herb vinaigrette and yummy olives.

Yelp
Nice vibe. Casual, albeit mildly aloof, staff. Huge and tasty Greek-style salad. Pizza was solid. Slightly doughy (which I like), but probably silver Ben come a bit more to get a slight crunch. That said, good flavor, ample quantity, and nicely presented. Not sure why they made a big deal about not having ranch dressing. That's old news around here as Andolini's Pizza made that famous back in the early 1990s but finally relented in the mid 2000s to mounting requests. I mean if the consumer wants it, and you can accommodate and charge for it (and make profit), why be stubborn? I'm personally not a fan of ranch in general (and in particular as a pizza dipping sauce), but...
google avatar

Amelia F.

Yelp
Some of the best pizza in town. High quality ingredients. If you are nice to the staff they will treat you well in return. It you are rude it will be amusing to those observing their reactions.

Yelp
Unbelievable tiny bar in strip mall. Sat at the bar and met a friendly couple who recommended the pesto pizza and salad WOW! And the service was great between the bar tender and the servers what a friendly banter and they were crushed with customers. I can't say Anything more about this place, but GO!
google avatar

Tasnia M.

Yelp
I was told I would like it. I did not. There is not enough sauce on the pie. These are my personal feelings and preferences towards pizza. If you feel otherwise, totes fine to proceed.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! First- you have to do a little work and find the location. The amazing part is that your going to smell the pizza before you can figure out where the door is. Don't fret, take your time and you'll find the place. It's well worth looking! Started with the pretzel. It was delicious and a fluffy treat. To make it even better, it came with home made mustard. Being a self confessed mustard freak- I was in heaven! The menu recommended getting your pizza with salad on top. Ok- when in Rome- it was great and added to the flavor. We got a pepperoni with Cesar salad on top. It was YUMMY!!!! Sad part- is I live 8 states and the District of Columbia away. Next time I'm in Charleston, I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
This was my first time trying this spot and it was fantastic. I'm newish to the area and was not let down by the pizza in the slightest. I got the pesto pizza and the greenway cocktail which was amazing. I would definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Bakers Bar is tied for my favorite pizza in Charleston. I always get the White pizza, and it never disappoints. The crust is a good balance between not being too thin or thick, so it fills you up without feeling like all you're eating is dough. It's located along the West Ashley Greenway, and they have a few outdoor tables in front of the restaurant and a few out back by the Greenway. This inside is a mix between pizza shot and psychedelic, which is cool and different. There's a big bar with seating if you'd rather not sit at a table. I usually go for happy hour (HH is Monday- Friday 4:00-6:00), order a pizza to go, and grab a beer at the bar while I'm waiting for my order. This place is usually busy when I'm there, which is why I prefer to get the food to go. It's definitely a family friendly spot. Because this place is located in a shopping plaza, parking is a breeze, which is a welcome change from their previous downtown location.

Yelp
Delicious pizza, huge salad and an awesome rigatoni tonight. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Their salad is incredible. I mean one of the best restaraunt salads I've ever had. The pizza was good! A little more doughy then I prefer but I would come back for a football game or any sports game, get a beer and that amazing salad and be so content. Awesome atmosphere.

Yelp
Baker bar is usually great and gets everything right. Tonight we ordered a large half cheese, half pepperoni with extra sauce. Unfortunately we got a half cheese, half pepperoni with extra cheese and little to no sauce. Receipt even shows where we ordered extra sauce. Pizza was good just not what we ordered/wanted.

Yelp
Best meatballs in town! I'm not easily impressed. It's been awhile since I can put my stamp of approval and meatballs. This place, the secret is in the sauce! It's amazing!!! Crave worthy. Pizza is good! Pretzel knot is amazing again the sauce! The soups rotate. I've had the cauliflower soup. Portions are good I had leftover soup that was better the next day! Hummus app.. plenty and amazing! Y'all check this place out!

Yelp
It's only the beginning of January, but I think I found my new favorite place for 2020. We went Friday night. I'd heard about this place from some friends and remember the staff at One Broad talking about it before it opened. We really wanted pizza and were stuck between trying this and another, more expensive pizza place downtown. We decided on this one (well I decided because I was hellbent on trying it out). We found metered street parking (it's January, downtown is kinda quiet, even for a Friday night). I could smell the pizza through the grates on the ground, but couldn't find the entrance. We ended up asking the valet person and he directed us to the door on the right (around the corner). We went downstairs and immediately noticed the chill vibe. No phones allowed, so I didn't take any pictures. It was actually a refreshing change of pace to see a place where everyone was laughing, talking, and didn't have a phone shoved up in their face. It's seat yourself. We got there around 6:30 and it was already pretty packed. The place is smaller, so it packs up fast. We found a seat a high top next to the bar. They don't have a huge staff, like maybe three people working front of the house max. Be prepared to wait a few minutes to get served, but the wait wasn't terrible. We ordered drinks and food all at once to cut down on the wait. The beers are cheap (like 10 years ago Charleston cheap). The pizza's are relatively inexpensive as well. We ordered a large Proscuitto pizza (18" big enough to feed two hungry adults, possibly three, or two adults and two kids, although I wouldn't really bring kids here). A pretzel (which was as good, if not better than one we've had in Germany, and was only $3). The food was fantastic. Like legit, best pizza in Charleston. Our bill was $50 including tip for 4 Miller Lites, One Glass of Wine, Large Pizza, and Pretzel. That's a steal for Charleston standards. I'm already planning to go back this weekend :)

Yelp
I can't believe I've lived here for 20 years and had never even heard of Bakers Bar?! AMAZING! It's literally underground and looking out the windows you see people walking down Broad st above you. They have these trippy "gnome gardens" outside each window. Such a neat interior. First we had a Caesar Salads, and I've never had one like it. The dressing was so savory, and it was huge. The pizza was amazing, it wasn't too greasy, and the prices are very reasonable. Such a cool spot! I also thought it was cool that you're not allowed to use your cell phones inside. Not completely sure why this is a rule, but it allowed for more quality time with my date.

Yelp
We had heard about this place from a few people and finally decided to go. Luckily we went for an early dinner on Saturday night, arriving a little after 530. The basement bar is small and has a great laid back vibe. It filled up quickly and a wait started before we left. We debated on the pizza for a while before ordering a large white with a salad on top. We were starving and still ended up bringing home a couple pieces. The favors were excellent and the crust was perfect. This is the best pizza I've had in Charleston and will now go out of my way to get it. Prices are very reasonable.
