Andy’s Pizza Expands to Foggy Bottom — And More Openings | Eater DC

"I visited Chef Matt Baker’s Georgetown outpost of Baker’s Daughter, a 1,600‑square‑foot cafe serving every meal with items like the Hoya sandwich (ham, turkey, bacon, white cheddar, arugula, tomato, and herb aioli on a toasted croissant) and a croque‑madame croissant that adds an egg for $1." - Tierney Plumb

Don’t sleep on this place! This is by far one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. I say this because it was different, it wasn’t your basic BEC. The jalapeño cheddar biscuit was perfect, the right amount of bacon, the egg was 🤌🏽 (I did ask for it scrambled ), cheese 🤌🏽 okay but because I’m weird about pepper jelly’s I asked do it on the side, because I didn’t know if it would throw me off, but get it on the sandwich. Although I’m not mad I asked for it on the side because then I was able to put it on every bite like the attention it deserves. The cashier/barista was a lovely, he was very transparent with questions since it was my first time ordering, and the chef was also super nice. Just here visiting for the weekend. I’m happy I found this spot. It didn’t come up in my Google maps search last night when I was trying to plan early breakfast, let’s fix that Google maps!. Also thank you for being open at 7am. And the flat whites were also 🤌🏽 my husband exclaimed how good it was as well. We are very happy with our order. If I’m ever visiting again I will be back!

A near perfect chai tea latte ($4.50) and delectable braised short rib (in a bowl with polenta for $18 or in a grilled cheese for $14). Good value for money. ✅ ♿️ Located on a hill but wheelchair acccessible entrance + standard height tables + accessible all gender bathroom. Accepts InKind for payment. 📝Friendly Note to Management: by 12:45 on a Sunday, many things were already out of stock (e.g., chocolate crossaints, cookies, orange juice, chips flavors). And the bathroom is very dirty with cabinet doors off their hinges and toilet paper out. And it’s hard to see the baked goods in their current cabinet. Staff was friendly. And you’re ACING that chai tea latte. I’d also grab a side of that braised short rib to go 😋

Ordered the roasted potato caramelized onion and cheese breakfast burrito, super good and comes with a good salsa. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Also got a iced latte with almond milk and vanilla, also was super good! Staff is very nice and there is a good amount of seating. Also really reasonable prices. Has vegetarian and gluten free options.

Google
I got the bacon egg and cheese breakfast biscuit with pepper jelly. It was great. I also got a tea which was regular. Service was good. I only stopped for take out on my way to a conference so I cannot say much about the atmosphere. I would definitely go back though.

Google
Cute new spot to hang out in Georgetown. Pastries are delicious and so is the coffee that I got! There’s a good amount of space to sit and the space is very cozy. Barista was very friendly too.

Google
I tried the chicken pesto sandwich and kale pasta salad and they were amazing! There are other great options for any occasion and the space is very inviting. I can’t wait to go back!

Google
Delicious food and hot coffee! The avocado toast was bright and fresh and service was great! We’ll definitely be back!

Google
The Shakshuka was good and the cappuccino lovely. The score is reduced because I prefer not to eat with plastic cutlery on a disposable tray

Yelp
Situated in the primary Georgetown area, my wife and I came here for a yelp event. A small little store front, a Bakers Daughter has a very typically cute cafe vibe. There are a few spots for people to work from and a recessed counter where you can order drinks/food We got a coffee and the chefs breakfast sandwich. Overall the sandwich was pretty good, but it was a little bit greasy (evidenced by the mark on the box). The coffee was fine. Won't be against stopping by if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Good food and service. - Chef's breakfast sandwich - tasty and served in a generous portion. - Orange and current scone - soft and warm. I appreciated they warmed up the scone for me. A bit too many currant berries for me, but the flavors and texture were great otherwise.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to try Baker's Daughter for a while. While I did not get any pastries, I very much enjoyed my breakfast. I love that the breakfast menu is filled with savory options. It's quaint inside and staff is friendly. I went with the braised beef short rib breakfast bowl with whipped polenta and Southern braised greens (no egg, because I don't eat eggs). It was delicious--very rich and filling. I love a breakfast like that. And my iced caramel latte was good. The lunch menu is appealing, so I'd like to return to try some of those options, and I very much look forward to returning for breakfast.

Yelp
This review is for the braised short rib grilled cheese, I am not usually a short rib person but the person I was with is obsessed so we split it and holy cow was it delicious. Filled with short rib and amazing flavor, would love a juice to dip but still great. We will come back to try more!!

Yelp
This place was within walking distance from me so I wanted to try it out. I got lucky as when I arrived at 11:30am on a Sunday there was no line and it was pretty empty, however it definitely got busier as time went on. The menu is posted and very clear. You order at the counter and they called my name when it was ready to come get it. All the sides are premade/prepackaged which I wasn't expecting but my choice of the kale pasta salad was ok. I had the chicken salad sandwich which was $13 and pretty good. My friend had the breakfast sandwich also for $13 and also very good. They have a single bathroom available to customers and there were a few people in line for it but that line seemed to go by quickly plus it was very clean. Overall the aesthetic of this place was cute and I can see myself returning if I'm in the area. I can't speak about the parking situation as I walked here.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Order at the counter (it's a cashless establishment), grab your side that is prepackaged into tiny plastic grab and go containers, and sit down, and they'll bring your sandwich to you. I thought it was interesting that they prep all the sides into the grab and go containers. I am not convinced that the portion size was enough. Sandwiches taste better than average, but not so excellent that I would come back. My pesto chicken was so messy with the brie and aioli, and it slid the chicken around, and the chicken was smaller than the bread it was sandwiched in, so I had a lot of bread left over after eating all of the chicken. It wasn't a pleasant experience. My husband had the fried chicken and he wasn't a fan of the pimento cheese with it (even though he likes pimento cheese). He agreed with me that we wouldn't come back. There are better options in Georgetown. I finished with delicious banana pudding with sliced banana in it, 5 stars for that banana pudding!

Yelp
Excellent orange and currant scone. It's very zesty and soft. It was warmed up as it was served to me. I'd recommend it if you do enjoy scones. Chef's Breakfast sandwich - excellent savory sandwich... between two pieces of sourdough bread, it was filled with ham, bacon, fried egg, cheese, arugula and some special mayo. It was a good combination especially with arugula. I enjoyed some bites of it! It's satisfying if you need something quick in the morning. It's very chill here as there's limited seating if it's busy here.

Yelp
Baker's Daughter is a charming local café chain with multiple locations in DC, and this particular spot is their third, tucked away near Georgetown's scenic waterfront. Just steps away from popular Georgetown staples like Dog Tag Bakery and sweetgreen, the café blends in with its minimalist exterior, while inside, it's bright, airy, and inviting. I visited on a Sunday evening at 7:15pm, just before closing, so it was understandably quiet, though I'm sure it gets busy during typical brunch hours. The menu here is impressively broad for such a small café, offering an array of sandwiches, colorful salads, all-day breakfast items, and freshly baked pastries. You can order at the counter for dine-in or to-go, or pick up something quick from their grab-and-go section. Despite the café's Georgetown location, prices are surprisingly reasonable, with most items in the $10-15 range, which is competitive for fast-casual spots in the area. Plus, knowing that the café sources fresh produce from the Chesapeake region adds to the appeal of supporting a local business. I decided to go for the Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese ($14), and I wasn't disappointed. The sandwich came with smoky, tender braised short rib paired with sharp white cheddar and a tangy red onion marmalade, all sandwiched between two perfectly griddled, crispy sourdough slices. Watching the chef prepare the sandwich fresh right in front of me was a nice touch--no reheated, pre-packaged fare here. The flavors worked well together, and the portion of short rib was generous. The only thing I'd change? A bit more cheese! I love the sharp, creamy bite of white cheddar, but it didn't quite come through enough for me. I also didn't get much of the onion marmalade's flavor, but overall, the sandwich was still rich and satisfying. While the sandwich isn't enormous, it's quite filling, especially with a side included. You can choose from a Kale Pasta Salad, Chickpea & Tomato Salad, or a bag of Zapp's chips. I went with the Kale Pasta Salad, which came in a small 4oz container. The salad wasn't anything groundbreaking--the pasta was a bit overcooked--but the kale added a nice crunch, and it wasn't overly drenched in mayonnaise, which I appreciated. It did lean a bit sweet for my taste, but adding some dijon mustard gave it a nice acidic balance. All in all, Baker's Daughter is a great Georgetown find, offering fast, friendly service and quality food at reasonable prices. I'll definitely be back to try their famous "Chef's Breakfast Sandwich," which is loaded with gruyere, applewood bacon, Virginia ham, arugula, aioli, and a fried egg on sourdough. If you're in the area and looking for a quick bite with fresh ingredients and local flair, this café is a solid choice.

Yelp
Baker's Daughter is a bit overrated in my personal opinion. It's a cozy cafe tucked adjacent to a bunch of other row-home restaurants and easy to miss! The Grilled Cheese with Truffle ($3 upcharge) was a bit underwhelming. The melted gruyere and cheddar cheese on buttery greasy toast was a bit bland, I wish there was a bit more bite to the sandwich. I appreciated that the sandwich came with a side of your choice. Glad I got the Side of Kale Pasta Salad, it was delicious and paired well with the Grilled Cheese. I would even buy the side separately. I sampled the Raspberry Crumble Bar, which was quite tasty and would go back to sample their homemade baked goods (everything is baked in-house except for the croissants). Might be back to try one of the baked goods if I'm near one of the locations, which seem to all be hidden.

Yelp
Amazing service. Wanted to get food while walking my dog and it was a breeze to order through Toast. Employee brought right outside to us. Arugula complimented the breakfast sandwich so well- and meat was very generous. Kept nicely until we made it home. Also tried the English muffin with the cream cheese, butter and jelly- they provided more than needed and somehow I managed to use most of it!

Yelp
I've been to the Eton hotel location on K st downtown. They have really awesome breakfast sandwiches which I get at the other location. I tried the fried chicken sandwich for the first time and I ordered voodoo chips takeout. The chicken sandwich was not that good and they fumbled my chips order and gave me the regular flavor. Maybe it's just Friday soft opening scaries.

Yelp
mostly takeout, sort of like european - style grab and go. pricey for the lack of service (they have a service charge). nonetheless, the shakshuka i got was pretty good. it's a small size but flavorful and decently fulfilling for breakfast. i also got the salmon salad to go. total was $28, which i actually would've paid if there was service & good presentation. given its grab and go, i wouldve only paid $20

Yelp
Good ambiance and place to relax whilst in plain sight, amidst the hustle and bustle of Georgetown. Very narrow and tiny space, however, should it ever fill up. Courteous and quick service, but the food and bakery items are all in the average to slightly above average tiers.

Yelp
The place is ok with somewhat friendly staff. The breakfast burrito was premade and heated up as well as the short rib breakfast. It really seemed as though the food is premade, frozen then heated up. If you are looking for freshly made breakfast, this is not it.

Yelp
The breakfast we had was just what we needed to set us up for success during a busy day of walking the streets of Georgetown! Great breakfast burrito & eggs & toast. Delicious coffee & super-friendly staff. Bonus:real (not plastic) silverware!

Yelp
Very chill, relaxed coffee shop. Perfect place to do homework and study while enjoying a cup of coffee and pastry treat which they have an assortment of. My favorite was their Butterscotch Blondie. They also have a very good menu filled with all day breakfast as well as sandwiches. I tried their Chicken Salad w avocado and it was an absolute hit! It's right next to the waterfront, I would highly recommend this spot if you're in the area.

Yelp
Food is delish. It's a cute and cozy spot. Best coffee brand I ever had. Amazing banana bread.

Alexander R.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwhich place in Georgetown. The Chef's breakfast sandwich is the best seller, but the Bacon, Egg and Cheese on the biscuit (with the pepper jelly) is the best breakfast sandwich is my favorite breakfast sandwhich I have ever had. I highly recommend asking for an extra side of the pepper jelly. The homemade biscuit is the perfect texture and sweet taste works great with eggs and bacon. Shout out Nancy for being so nice and making the whole experience amazing! You can eat inside, which is very nice, or take it to go and eat down by the water. If you are looking for breakfast, please do yourself a favor and order here. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Well, the food looks delicious and it tastes OK. It is overpriced I think even for Georgetown. Additionally, they don't take cash. And in my mind, you never get a rating over three stars if you don't take cash.

Aubrey H.

Yelp
One of the most disgusting meals I've ever tasted. Got the fried chicken sandwich and watched the worker pull it straight out of the microwave. The chicken was grey and clearly not fresh at all. Don't waste your money.

Matthew B.

Yelp
Do not order the short rib/polenta/greens bowl. It's just an airplane quality tray that's reheated in a microwave. Waste of $20

Dawn R.

Yelp
The coffee was regrettable, the breakfast sandwich included bacon that had been griddled together hours if not days earlier forming an inedible stiff board, and they had no fresh water for sale.

Karla C.

Yelp
Had the chefs special bfast sandwhich recommended by the staff sooooooo good plus the customer service was amazing shoutout to the girl with the blue eyebrows super sweet and helpful. It was 5pm and they were still serving breakfast food, my kinda place !
