I always come here to pick up Cream Roll Came and Fresh Cream Fruit Cake sometimes the Sweet Potato Cake as well. I absolutely love their Strawberry Roll cake which is our family favorite! The workers are always so kind and friendly too!

This place is located inside a Korean supermarket, so it took me a while to find it. I generally don’t like overly sweet foods, and their cakes suited my taste perfectly. The fruit cake was milder in flavor compared to the sweet potato cake. Personally, I preferred the sweet potato cake, but its sweet potato flavor was not very pronounced and could be easily missed if you didn’t know what it was. I wanted to buy a larger size, but they didn’t have any in stock that day, so the cakes are probably better suited for smaller gatherings. If you have a large group, it might not be the best place to shop. The cashier was particularly kind. Since I bought three boxes and couldn’t carry them all, she kindly helped me bring them to my car.

I was looking for cake for my wife's birthday and I found this place. I have seen the photos of teddy cake and immediately went there to buy it. It's in a grocery store. I really didn't know what's the flavour of the cake and how they made it. I bought it and went home. Next day I opened it and i noticed it is very fluffy. I just touched it and pushed little bit because it's fluffy. I was eager to taste it. After my wife cut the cake I immediately tasted a slice and it's really great. I could feel it's so soft and mouth watering taste. My wife and friends also loved this cake. Later we got to know that it's made from sweet potato. But it's really great. Not so much sweet but tastes perfect sweetness. Note: Since we don't have any allergies I didn't ask any description about the cake(How they made it and what are the ingredients) But If you have any please check with the bakers before buying

I took two stars off because the candles came broken. They were very thin candles and were very fragile they should send good quality ones. The cake tasted good but my celebration was ruined because of the candles.

We did our grocery shopping at Galleria Supermarket, mainly for the Korean glass noodles and rice cake. Bakery Gateau is located inside the supermarket. So I bought their famous Sweet Potato Cake (6' for $27). Price is on the expensive side. But the cake is ok. Not bad, but I won't pay the high price for that cake again.

I placed a scheduled order a day in advance and it got cancelled the very last 15 minutes before it closes. I added candles and birthday decoration so they must know it was meant for a birthday celebration and you can never cancel a celebration 15 minutes beforehand . It was horrible. If you cannot guarantee the availability of cakes, just do not take any schedule order on uber please. Luckily I checked my phone often, and as it got cancelled I reorder what was available at the moment. The cake tastes alright I just do not fancy surprises like this.

the bear cakes are SO cute and affordable! 😋🌸 Super yummy with the freshest fruit, strawberries and taro. our favourites are the bear cakes (chocolate strawberry, sweet potato, taro) and fresh cream strawberry cake, strawberry roll cake. We've ordered many times with ubereats pickup and delivery, everything is always packed with care

Edit: I came back for another chance of the cake after a year, could not give up since this is one of my favourite cakes. it’s better! Love it again! Previous: I decided not to go back for any bakery anymore, this is my last cake from here. I’m pretty sure the quality went down a lot recent 2 years, the price is higher but reasonable. I loved the cakes for many years probably 8 or 9. The fresh cream cake was made with high quality real cream with great taste fluffy cake. But now the cream is not real cream, or at least not even 50% real. From the taste could tell it contains a lot of sweeter, not all sugar. After I felt the quality changed, I asked the bakery if anything changed and they said no. I thought probably it’s my illusion, and gave several chances to try again. And now I give up, it’s not the same cake anymore. $42 is ok for a 7 inch cake, and I would pay $50 for the cake 5 years ago. Hope they will bring back the same quality, it was my favourite. So sad to say bye.

Yelp
I ordered a sweet potato cake and had a great experience! The website was easy to navigate, though you usually need to place your order a couple of days in advance. I ended up calling the day before, and they were super nice and accommodating--really appreciated that! Pickup was quick and easy, inside Galleria Supermarket, which was convenient. Now let's talk about how adorable the bear design is!! Definitely an impressive cake to bring out. We went with the 6", but it's also nice to know they offer mini cakes for the future for smaller parties! The cake came with a free birthday sign, which was a sweet touch. Taste-wise, the cake was soft, light, and not overly sweet--which I personally prefer. The sweet potato flavour was noticeable but not overpowering. At $36 (no tax), I thought the price was very reasonable. Looking forward to trying their other flavors in the future!

Yelp
Got the sweet potato cake to bring to a potluck. Was hoping to get the matcha version but it sold out. Everyone loved the cake, it was not too sweet (the biggest asian compliment for dessert), fluffy, and airy. The sweet potato taste isn't that strong that it's off putting. Bonus: it's so cute all everyone was impressed by the design. Would love to try their other cakes next time.

Yelp
Bakery Gateau is inside the Korean supermarket Galleria, and you'll likely pass by and see their cute bear cakes on your way out. Not only is the bear cake cute, but it's also in a unique sweet potato flavour. The flavours are subtle, light, creamy and not too sweet, which is what my family prefers. I highly recommend it. It looks like a small cake, the site indicates it serves 4-8 people. I think it's the perfect serving size for about 6-7. The price is $36, with no tax - it's classified as grocery. I was prepping for a family member's birthday celebration, and the cute bear cake was the perfect addition. At first, I thought this was Galleria's patisserie counter, but later in my receipt, I noticed it was an independent grocery line item so it may be an independent shop. Highly recommend this cute cake for your next celebration! Check their website for more options. If you preorder, you can get matcha sweet potato flavour for the same price. Free HBD cake toppers, candles are extra $ (I had my own though).

Yelp
A trip to galleria wouldn't be completed without stopping by this bakery to grab a few goodies. Super convenient as it is right inside the supermarket and available at both galleria locations. We bought a strawberry chocolate sponge cake shaped like a bear. It was super cute and it was a shame we had to cut the cake and eat it! The cake was super moist, light and airy. Cream was light and not so sweet, I am always so amazed at how perfect they can ice their cakes, it always looks so smooth! I think aside from all that there isn't anything special about it but I really enjoy eating. They had a sweet potato one and I look forwards to trying it next time. Also, their buns and croquettes are delicious as well and worth buying the next time you are there!

Yelp
This is conveniently located inside Galleria supermarket. The only thing that could stop me from buying from this place on a weekly basis is all the other food stalls available here! They have the nicest staff, cutest cake (animal shape), and yummy bread. I love their red bean bread, red bean and walnut bread, red bean and chestnut bread. They are not too sweet and just right. Their chestnut bread has generous amount of chestnut. I also love to buy their breakfast rolls for the morning. I will return.

Yelp
WORST CAKE I've tried in my life was at Bakery Gateau. SUPER EXPENSIVE & NO TASTE. What a waste of money, the taste is very very bland. I read the other reviews that said the same but I didn't believe them and wanted to give it a try but I regret. Save your money and go elsewhere! If you want a really good cake try the Raspberry Meringue Cake at Sweet-o-one, you will NOT regret it and you will thank me after.

Yelp
Bakery Gateau is located inside the New Galleria Supermarket in Thornhill! I love how the buns and cakes that Bakery Gateau are all wrapped up in plastic bags... which is really hygienic and looks really organized too. Most of the selections are Western pastry with a Korean twist or Korean pastry with a Western twist?? They do have the actual bakery on site, so you can actually watch the baker or pastry chefs baking and working on the dough.. and sometimes I can even smell that oh fresh out of oven aroma all through the store!! Green Bean Bun ($1.20) - Compare to the Chinese buns I have before, Korean buns are really generous with the filling!! The whole bun is practically filled with green bean paste..wall to wall!! - The filling itself is not sweet at all... but has this really gooey texture.. that stick to your teeth... - I would say the bun is filling and comforting! They do have other great selections of different bread, cake and pastry. so more incentive for me to come back and try out some of their other offerings!!

Yelp
Love their fresh cream fruit cake. The sponge cake part is soft and moist. The cream of their cake is light and not too sweet. The best thing of this bakery is they open almost everyday including new year and Christmas day.

Yelp
he customer service at the head office is awful. They messed up my online order and didn't pass on the message to the store on time for a specific date cake order for my kids birthday. I ordered cakes for Oct 21 to be picked up. I went to the bakery and was told that they don't have the cakes. I called and emailed the head office and they said they are small business and mistakes happen. That was the lamest excuse! Mistakes happen but they didn't even try to fix the issue. Just saying "we are sorry, it happened, we are small business and mistakes happen" is not the right reply at all. If a communication didn't happen between head office and the store, that is not customers fault. Running around, trying to find alternative solution, and buying another flavored cake was the worst experience celebrating my kids special day. I wasted my time, energy and money on finding cakes, I had to go back to the bakery on the same day at 9pm. The fact that they just wanted me to forget and let the problem go by really frustrated me. They said they tried to make it work, but I don't think they even tried and think of customers perspective. I needed those 2 cakes on that day, and I placed the order 3 weeks in advance for a reason. I will most likely not order from them again and will pass my awful customer experience to my friends and family. Very irresponsible and unreasonable. Simply didn't care, didn't feel appreciated. They ignored all my emails .

Yelp
I ordered a 7" (supposedly) sweet potato bday cake ($33 after tax). It's honestly just a sponge cake with cream layers and zero sweet potato flavour.... but I guess the cuteness of the cake makes up for the slight disappointment. The cake is soft, smooth and not too sweet.... again a sponge cake...

Yelp
I usually come to this bakery, if I'm in the area and felt like dropping by The Galleria (Korean Supermarket). Bakery Gateau is inside the building complex of The Galleria, but outside of the market near the food court area. They have a small selection of various buns, but most of the flavours are mostly the same. Items I tried this time: 1. Sausage Donut $2.00 Basically a Hot Dog Bun Covered with Panko and Deep Fried. Nothing really special, but nice crunch to the exterior of the bun/donut. 2. Peanut Crunch Bun $1.45 I was expecting a load of peanut filling inside, but it was disappointing, nothing was inside. :( And I did not taste any peanut at all on the top. 3. Gorokke $2.20 Deep Fried Curry Veggie Bun. This one I get every time I go there. It's pretty good in flavour but can be a bit greasy, but still yummy for a quick unhealthy snack :P Overall they don't really have a big variety in my opinion. But if you do go there, try their Gorokke.

Yelp
Bakery Gateau (inside Galleria Supermarket) I go to Galleria Supermarket all the time since I love love Korean food but have only try a few of the Korean Donuts (savory) and buns from Bakery Gateau which is located inside the supermarket. We had a gathering at a friend's place and was getting some cook food from Galleria and we decided to get a cake as well. We decided on the 6" Green Tea Sweet Potato Cake $22 which was perfect for the 6 of us. Although being incredible full after our feast, we manage to finish the cake without any difficulty. It was very light and airy, not very sweet... I just love it and it means a lot coming from me since I usually don't like "cream" cakes. Did I mention how pretty it was, perfect for the start of some perfect weather (^_^) Verdict : ~ Love it since it was just the right sweetness for me ~ Cute looking and tasty ~ Light & airy, won't feel too guilty eating a second piece ;)

Yelp
This little bakery is just outside the cash registers st Galleria supermarket. It's a tiny little kiosk with loaves of milk bread, buns and a showcase of pretty cakes. I picked up two buns today, a corn scone and a sausage pizza. I was surprised when the cost was $6 as I'm used to paying less for similar looking pastries at Chinese bakeries. The sausage pizza looked an awful lot like a sliced hot dog in a bun. The corn scone was interesting looking. Having just eaten half of the very filling corn scone, I have to say it was quite delicious. It was like a cross between a brioche and corn bread. Given the congested parking lot and area, it is unlikely that I will return, but if congestion does not bother you then I recommend going for a corn scone. :)

Yelp
After I finished checking out Galleria, the organised display of buns at Bakery Gateau caught my attention. Their selection of goodies all looked nice, fresh, and not to mention well priced! :) I bought these 2 long, sweet buns, packed together with green tea cream in the middle for $3.50. (I realise it's not the same, but it's bigger and even cheaper than Amadeus which is up the street!!!) The green tea filling wasn't too flavourful, but the bun itself was soo soft, yet not too sweet. Other smaller, individual buns were less than $2/ea. They also had coffee, teas, cakes, all at reasonable prices, that I didn't try. Thank God this isn't in my 'hood 'cause it would be DEADLY!!! There was only a generic pre-printed label of ingredients on the cello wrapping. The list were wholesome, i.e. flour, eggs, milk, etc. so I hope they're accurate and their buns aren't chalk full of preservatives/chemicals.

Yelp
This is the place to grab freshly baked donuts, buns and cakes after buying groceries at Galleria Supermarket. My favourites are: -Sesame sticky rice donut -Pizza sausage bun -Croquette -Choco cream bun -Green tea sweet potato cake Buns, cakes and donuts may be slightly more expensive than Chinese supermarket counterparts, but they are individually wrapped and irresistibly delicious. They do not sell a day old bread. If they have any leftovers, these are on discounts starting at 9 pm. Their breads are good for up to 2 days at room temperature or probably longer if stored in a refrigerator. If you buy six or more buns or donuts, they won't charge you HST.

Yelp
Got this chocolate Strawberry Bear Cake for our First Wedding Anniversary and it was not only cute but super tasty! It was perfect and not super sweet, I loved it. Would definitely buy this again and will have to try the other flavours!

Yelp
The sesame sticky rice doughnut is quite addictive. Its plain appearance is often overshadowed by other cutesy cakes and buns so I'd ignored it a few times in the past. I like the slightly gooey texture that shows existence of sticky rice flour but not so dense and heavy. The red bean paste filling is mildly sweet. Although not heavy, I would say this doughnut is more filling than a typical Tim Horton's.

Yelp
The secret yummy item is the soft serve ice cream for $1.25! It's made with real cream and tastes fabulous. Much better than the ice cream trucks that charge 3x more.

Yelp
Pat bing soo - shaved ice, sweet milk, red bean paste, various fruit, rice cake, bean powder, soft serve ice cream. I hope I didn't forget an ingredient. After watching some korean dramas, my daughter asked to try this korean dessert. Her verdict? Delicious! Only thing missing for me was the crunchy corn flakes.

Yelp
love their bun. light, yummy and nice tissue. and they have the ice cream cone which is creamy.

Yelp
I usually visit here every week. Because, they make a best roll cake and birthday cake in toronto. Also after close, you can still buy at the supermarket.

Jessica M.

Yelp
I love coming to Bakery Gateau! They have amazing morning bread and roll cakes (try the strawberry roll cake). What they don't advertise is that everything is cooked on a daily basis in their kitchen with absolutely no preservatives or chemicals (I know this because a friend had previously worked there). It's definitely worth a visit! It is one of the best Korean bakeries in this city.

Jinjer K.

Yelp
If you're a Korean living in Toronto, or simply just a person living in Toronto with an affinity for Korean foods/ products/ produce/ snacks/ and whatever else possible, you obviously know Galleria Supermarket. If you don't, I don't know which rock you live under, but I can beyond a shadow of a doubt guarantee you, neither does anybody else. It's possibly the ONLY/ LARGEST grocery/supermarket in Toronto (H marts and tiny hole in the wall stores don't count). Anyways, now that we've clarified what Galleria is, meet Bakery Gateau; the bakery INSIDE the grocery store. You know how Western groceries have a deli section, an artisan section, a cake and pastry section, and then grocery isles? Well ethnic grocery stores tend to have the same thing, be it an Italian, Persian, Greek supermarket, they differ scarcely, I mean really how differently can you establish your grocery store from one to the next? Except ASIAN supermarkets. MOST, if not all Asian supermarkets I've noticed have their grocery stores...and then, outside the checkout isles, they have EXTRA STORES; similar to that of a Walmart (Ah, nowww you get it. lol). Usually, these stores are specialty stores, esp. ones that carry products from the country native to that grocery store that you wouldn't otherwise be able to find. So, they'll have pharmacies, holistic medicine stores, mattress/ bed sheet store (Asians are particular about what they sleep on and in, it's odd :S), beauty supply store, so on and so forth. This includes BAKERIES sometimes. The Galleria chain of supermarkets have this bakery called Bakery Gateau. They produce pastries, desserts, and breads of great quality. (Asians don't really have bread loafs as do the Europeans, they have snacking bakes that are supposed to be able to play the efficient role of both a snack and a meal interchangeably, depending on the nature of your situation and appetite). So their breads are stuffed, filled, and/or topped with a myriad of ingredients, an amalgamation of flavours and nutrients (not always healthy, just delicious). Always fresh baked and PREPACKAGED for you to pick and choose, grab and check out (once again on that Asian efficiency bandwagon). Unlike western bakeries where you look through a damn glass display case and have to ask a million questions about what something is and then struggle communicating with the clerk trying to tell him/her what it is you want by pointing at it ("no, not that one, the one next to it, no no the other side, yeah, that."). The only thing in glass display cases are CAKES, full sized cakes. Anyways, go to this bakery and indulge in a little bit of culture. It's well worth the experience. (ESP the self-serve glass case breads). Even the coffee is self-serve (I don't think they're of the greatest quality though, I mean....Asia doesn't particularly specialize in espresso beans, they're no experts of coffee brews, maybe just latte art) p.s. they have more than just what you can grab, they have iced desserts you have to order at the counter.
