Bakes by Drae

I’m glad I stopped by. Nice small clean straightforward store. Just good desserts and smiles. No restroom or sitting space, order and go. The ladies were super nice and welcoming. I saw several cakes that I liked. They also have ice cream. I’m lactose intolerant so I’m not supposed to have much cake especially not cheesecake. However, I can eat the cakes that have light icing, which is why I prefer light icing instead of a heavy icing top. Easy free street parking. Great price and quantity. I’ll be back and refer people. Peach Pound Cake-liked this one the least. It looked great, however it was soft/doughy and the peach didn’t push through. Banana pudding Cake- I thought this one was my favorite until I ate the carrot cake. This one has a really great taste. I couldn’t eat much of the icing and it’s a little more dairy forward so I felt the stomach pains on this one more than the carrot cake. Coconut w/ pineapple cake-this is a great idea. It wasn’t heavy on the coconut or a pineapple. It’s not wow but it’s fair. Biscoff Cake-this one is more like bread pudding with icing on the top. It’s tasty, the icing is too much for me, the icing taste good but I can’t handle it. I wanted a stronger Biscoff taste in the cake. Carrot Cake- I believe this is my favorite because it’s the most traditional and it’s made with a lot of love. I can taste the levels of flavor throughout and I love the pecans. It looks appealing and lighter with the icing.

Wow wow wow! Do I even need to say more? Ok, fine—here’s the breakdown. Service: Top tier. Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Ambiance: Quaint and cute—just the kind of spot you want to stumble upon. Food: I grabbed a slice of banana pudding pound cake and my, my, my… it was sooooo good. Rich, creamy, sweet but not too sweet. Absolute perfection. I cannot wait to go back and try more. This place is a gem through and through.

What a Gem! Bakes by Drae is a sweet haven where Southern charm meets indulgent delight. Our crew recently had the pleasure of trying the Key Lime Cake, and it absolutely lived up to the glowing reviews! Light, zesty, and perfectly balanced almost as if your own Nana made it - it was the kind of slice that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. For those with dietary preferences, the Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies are a pleasant surprise—soft, rich, and satisfying, though it’s best to call ahead to ensure availability. The owner was incredibly friendly and patient, taking his time to walk us through all the offerings with genuine care. We will definitely be back, with the Peach Pound Cake & Red Velvet Cheesecake at the top of the list!

Their desserts are amazing!!! I purchased a chocolate chip cookie, a slice of lemon strawberry pound cake, and slice of coconut pineapple cake. The cookie was the best I’ve ever had (it didn’t make it out the parking lot)! The pineapple cake was so moist and not too sweet but you could taste the pineapple & coconut (I’d order a whole one). I’m not a fan of pound cakes but I wanted to try 1 of each type of dessert they sold, and that was good too. I’ll definitely be a returning customers.

The initial greeting was warm, pleasant, and welcoming, ...yet professional. Selections were varied and visually appealing, as well, organized. The German Chocolate Cake choice was dee-lish! The real deal german chocolate cake. Moist, well-flavored cake, with icing that enjoyed a perfectly proportioned ratio of coconut to pecan. There was an immediate and somewhat overwhelming desire and reason to look forward to "next weekend". Thank you, Drae and Marla.

The Red Velvet Cream Cheesecake was so delicious. It was so good that I licked my plate clean. It looks and taste absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend this to everyone looking for a desert or quick snack. This desert lives up to the BakesByDrae premium standard and is a must-try. Don’t miss out before I come and take all the cakes.

We are visiting from out of town and wanted something sweet…the cakes here are AMAZING!! We got the strawberry cheesecake and red velvet cheesecake…so delicious. We are going to stop on our way back home and take some back to family. Thank you!! Also, the ladies were so sweet ❤️

UPDATE 2/1/25: Still delicious! I love a consistent spot. Be sure to order! DELICIOUS CAKE! I had a slice of blueberry lemon which called to me the moment I walked in the adorable shop. I was very pleased with my choice. In addition to tasty cakes, there are also cookies and vegan options. The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely check the shop out! Btw, there's parking nearby!

The items I got were delicious! It is a small spot and appears to be pretty popular, so get there early for the best selection. I just wish I could get there more often.

I don't have a picture because I ate it too damn fast! The sweetest aunty welcomed me in and went through their new flavors. I went with strawberry pound cake crumble (HEAVENLY!), carrot cake and lavender lemonade. I'm hooked! Now I will have to have this cake everytime I get my nails done, since it's around the corner from my nail tech's suite - Divine Treasure.

Update! 2/1/25- Get the red velvet cake with the nuts! I don't know what all is in there but the icing and nut combo is something special! Sooo good! Excellent service as always!

I was out for brunch and on my way back to my car found this place hidden on one of the side streets. We were greeted with big smiles, and there was a quite a selection of things to choose, including options that were vegan.

I was in the area looking for a sweet treat and stumbled upon Bakes by Drea. I'm so glad I did, this small owned business was exactly what the College Park area needed. The shop is very tiny just a enough space to place your order and go. The owner was very welcoming and pleasant. Drea took his time explaining each dessert displayed in its case. I didn't know if I wanted cake, cookies or pie. I went with a slice of red velvet with candied pecans recommended by Drea only because he said it was the number one seller. Boy was he right! This cake was so fresh, moist and fluffy. The candied pecans was just an added bonus. I'm Idefinitely looking forward to returning to try the sweet potato pound cake or the banana pudding pound cake I kept eyeballing and ravening over. If you're in the College Park area looking for something sweet don't pass up Bakes by Drea you won't be disappointed.

The chocolate chip cookies were delicious. The customer service was excellent. The desserts are so good that you have to get there early to get more choices.

I had an event this past weekend 10/25/2025. This was my first time using Bakes by Drae. I will admit I was a little nerves but the bakery I normally use is no longer in business (blacked owned also). I needed two cakes (decorative and lemon pound) since this was our annual event. Please note this was not a last minute request. We shared a picture of the cake size and design on 9/30/2025. The cake we received was about 8 inches for 35+ guests. This was the main cake which made it so disappointing. The design was soo small it was a complete waste. I know some will ask what about the taste of both cakes? Both cakes were about 50/50 with our guests. I just sized it up as everyone taste buds are different so no biggy for me.. However will not use again..

The cakes are moist and so flavorful. The give great service and everything tastes so good. I have tried the red velvet, German chocolate, strawberry crumble and carrot cake and they are all good!!!

The banana pudding pound cake is scrumptious, and also the blueberry pound cake too. Will eat my coconut pineapple tomorrow. Drae was nice and gives you a discount on your first visit. Will be a regular!

My wife and I were in the area looking for Breakfast Boys and we walked in to check it out, when i got home and tried the pound cake it sent me to my great grannys kitchen! I'll be a repeat customer and just do a 100 sit-ups! DELICIOUS!!!!
