Balade - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Writing this review is a strange experience for me. It’s kind of like writing up my grandmother’s cooking. Actually, if that’s the case I should probably make this a 10.0...sorry grandma. I’m half Lebanese and grew up eating food like this at family gatherings, so I think it’s a pretty big compliment to Balade when I say this reminds me of what grandma has coming out of the kitchen on holidays. The only reason Balade doesn’t get a ridiculously high rating is because I don’t think most people have any idea what a lot of this food is. Obviously you’ve had hummus, or at least some bastardized Whole Foods version with edamame in it (more on that later), and chances are you’ve seen some stuffed grape leaves or spinach pies on a menu at a Greek restaurant. Whatever the case, if you don’t know much about Lebanese food, you should just know that if you like garlic, olive oil, lemon, and meat - you’re probably going to like what you eat at Balade. There are are a handful of Lebanese restaurants in New York City, and many of them are very good. Some of the newer ones though, like Naya and ilili, are slick, modern, and high end. Balade is certainly no hole in the wall, but it’s relaxed and warm - much more our speed than those other spots. I don’t care what kind of food you’re serving, I don’t want to listen to a DJ spin while I eat. Ever. So Balade gets a leg up for being the right kind of atmosphere, but most importantly, everything coming out of the kitchen is seasoned correctly. Food like this gets screwed up when people hold back. Not here. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and had the right amount of lemon juice, olive oil, and key spices. The service is good, people are friendly, and you can eat your face off for about twenty bucks a person. Rookie or expert, that’s hard not to like. RESERVE A TABLE WITH RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Tabouleh A very traditional salad made with wheat bulgurand parsley. If you’ve had this and don’t like it, chances are it wasn’t properly seasoned, and was bland. This tabouleh does not suffer such affliction. It’s light yet filling, and has tons of flavor. Fattoush Another Lebanese salad, but this one features cucumber and bell pepper. Fresh and simple, it’s a must have at the table. Hummus Ingredients that a hummus recipe should never include: sun dried tomato, roasted red pepper, cilantro, jalapeño, pomegranates, cactus, basil, chocolate sprinkles. Balade’s hummus is traditional and excellent, and will make you want to stop spending money on that 31 flavors garbage. Baba Ghanouj If you’ve never had it, it’s like hummus, but it’s made with eggplant. It has a bit of a different texture than hummus, but tastes somewhat similar. Try it. Kebbeh Kras Almost like a Lebanese meatball. This is essentially beef with seasoned beef and onions stuffed inside. Served with Lebanese yogurt, it’s comfort food for sure. Warak Einab Straightforward and traditional stuffed grape leaves, these are nice and you’ve probably at least seen them somewhere before. A good vegetarian option, but this is another one that should be on the table regardless. Fatayir with Spinach and Feta Triangular shaped spinach pies. The dough is soft, not flaky like other spinach pastries. That combination of spinach and feta is an all time favorite. Again, these are perfectly seasoned. Kafta Manakeesh This is like a pizza or flat bread with a thin layer of Kafta, a spiced ground beef, on top. Never had it served like this before, but it’s awesome. A must order." - Chris Stang

17 Places To Get An Affordable Brunch In NYC

"At Balade in the East Village, all the Lebanese brunch dishes come with homemade bread, salad, and orange juice or coffee. You can choose between options like eggs with halloumi and olives, eggs with baba ghanoush, and eggs with dates. But if you think getting all of that food means you’re going to spend $30 per person, you’re reading the wrong guide. Nothing is over $16." - hannah albertine

Where To Have Brunch In The East Village

"Balade serves Lebanese brunch in a casual space on 1st Avenue that’s relaxed enough to nap in (please resist that urge, though). We like the eggs with zaatar and labne, eggs with halloume, and eggs with beef sausage. Just maybe don’t come here if you don’t want eggs. If that’s the case, more $6 sparkling wine for us." - hannah albertine, matt tervooren

The Best Places To Have Dinner For Around $30 In The East Village

"Come to Balade for a Lebanese meal that will feel like you’re spending more money than you actually are. If you’re looking to keep things safely under the $30 per person mark, bring someone you don’t mind sharing with and get a platter, some mezzes, and wine. The atmosphere is just a little bit romantic, but not so much that it’ll feel weird to come with someone you’re not dating. It’s a casual spot overall." - hannah albertine, matt tervooren

Google
go here for the grilled meats/street dishes like shawarma but almost no comfort dishes. the tenderloin lamb kebab I had was grilled almost perfectly---juicy, well seasoned I was completely ignored for 10 mins by the door and 20-30 mins at the bar counter. I get that they were busy but it helps to at least get some basic guidance/acknowledgement. once seated though, my waitress was beyond kind and helpful <3. everyday books on Lebanese cooking, michellin guides, etc lined the walls. reservations highly recommended. I walked in at 9pm and even then the entire space remained completely packed basically until close. two tables celebrated their bdays in my 1.5h there, w staff playing a bday song over the entire dining room's speakers and bringing out dessert sparklers seemingly w a complimentary dessert. def makes me curious to come here for a bday!

Google
Diligent and friendly staff. Appreciate that they were attentive for dietary restrictions. My favorite were the zaatar pizza with fresh tomatoes and eggplant stew. The mezzes were fine and pita was a bit bland compared to fresh pitas I've had elsewhere. Definitely on the pricey side for Lebanese restaurants.

I love this place, the service was great, and the ambiance is so intimate and nice for a date night. Indoor and outdoor seating was available! As for the food, the mixed grill was great, we enjoyed having a variety of meats to try and it was reasonably priced for a shareable plate. We also tried the Hummus, which was also very delicious! 10/10 would recommend!

Google
Y’all every step of this meal hit the dang mark. Got two apps: Hummus with Lamb and Kebbe Kras The hummus was stellar - creamy, tangy, and the added lamb was perfect. The Kebbe Kras was fireeee, beef onions and almonds with this minty yogurt sauce to dip, it was crispy and steamy got me feeling some type of way. Shish Tawook for main, chicken so tender I was like I wish I was that chicken. Toum was great (as it should) and rice was so flavorful mmm. Star of the show though, got the Ashta for dessert y’all I was tearing up at this table that ish had me smelling colors I was on cloud 15 I cannot believe what I experienced there like as i’m writing this review i’m taking breaks and looking up a recipe to make this bc i need moreeeeee.

Google
this place has been on my places to go for a while… -the server girl we had wasn’t horrible but less responsive, helpful than we’d like and didn’t talk much -they bought out the mini pita bread with the main food. it would have been nice with taboule and hummus -we had the lentil soup (amount of lemon they put in it killed the soup (put lemon on the side)) -the balade fries were good, a tad on the salty side -i’m a big flavorful rice guy. idk if the mansaf rice was over cooked or was just me. the dish was average Overall i think this place is over hyped

Cozy vibes, amazing food, and super friendly service! I came here for lunch and was so impressed — everything was delicious and felt really authentic. I had a dessert with orange blossom in it (I think it’s called moullhabe) just wow — absolutely must try, I never had a dessert that smelled like a fragrance! So unique The manager was so nice and welcoming, and the whole staff was incredibly kind. Great energy, great food — definitely a hot spot for authentic Lebanese cuisine.

Google
It was one of the best dinners that we had in New York in a while. And not just food, service was outstanding! We were treated like a family ❤️ We probably overdid on the food order - 6 Mezze For 2 of us to share (hummus with lamb, fattoush salad, baba ghanouj, fatayer, mouhmara and makanek for appetizers.) Chargrilled chicken and veggies for main course. Ashta for desert. And everything was delicious!!!

Google
The food is amazing, I am Lebanese and this place is a real taste of Lebanon. The supreme mixed grill is a must, the deserts are fantastic and the team very friends and hospitable, especially the manager!

Yelp
The dining experience at Balade is next level! The ambience is perfect for a night out, service is attentive and friendly, and the food is top notch. For starters, the Kebbe Kras was a highlight. Think falafel empanada stuffed with savory ground beef with a creamy dipping sauce. So unique and simply delicious. If you're into meats, definitely recommend the Makanek beef sausage starter, served sizzling on a skillet at your table. The pita is some of the best I've had, perfect for pairing with the Hummus Lahme. For the full Lebanese meat experience, I recommend the Supreme Mixed Grill Platter. It allows you to try all the main meats -- my favorite was the beef kafta and chicken. The pita, meat variety, and dipping sauces complement each other very nicely. We topped things off with their signature Baklava, the best I've had in the city. Get a few starters and platters for the table and you can't go wrong. Balade's Lebanese fare is authentic, fresh, and filling. I highly recommend!

Yelp
I recently dined at Balade and had an appalling experience that warrants this review. While I usually refrain from harsh criticism, this incident left me no choice. Upon receiving my meal, I discovered a Zyn pouch--a nicotine product--in my food. This is not just an issue of poor hygiene; it is a severe health hazard and a gross violation of basic restaurant standards. Such negligence is utterly unacceptable. As a paying customer, I expect my food to be safe and prepared with care, not contaminated with harmful substances. The lack of responsibility displayed by the staff and management was equally disappointing. When I brought this to their attention, they offered no genuine apology or explanation, only a half-hearted excuse. Shockingly, they did not even offer to comp any part of the meal. This kind of response demonstrates a complete disregard for customer safety and well-being.

Yelp
Wasn't my favorite meal - I tried a wide variety of food with a group of work colleagues and this meal was just alright! The meats weren't very well- seasoned and the hummus, mouhamara and the baba ganoush were easily forgettable. Not a meal I want to repeat!
google avatar

Yelp
The beef platter was SUPER tough and dry and it was honestly my least favorite meal of the night. The pizza with chicken however was really tasty and I thought it was good. We also ordered falafel and hummus which I liked so overall the food was ok. The waiter kept trying to get us to order more drinks and dessert which was fine but it got to be a bit much after a while. Overall the vibes were good of you had a birthday or celebration.

Yelp
I came here on a mission; try the mixte grill I saw on many pictures. It's a mixture of meats; sirloin steak, lamb chops, chicken Tawook, lamb kabob, and kofte, on a pan, burrier on a giant pita bread! The theatrical presentation was nice, and the meats very good. It was a bit overpriced at $88, I guess that's New York. The Konafeh was ok.

Yelp
This restaurant has a lot of seating available and takes reservations on line. Their menu has so many options for different platters, sandwiches, dips, etc. I went with the chicken shawarma sandwich with Laban bi khiar as my side. The yogurt salad was so good drizzled onto the sandwich. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the pita was soft and nicely toasted. The sandwich also came with pickles and vegetables inside which gave the sandwich a nice crunch and extra flavor. The wait staff was great and we didn't have to wait too long for our food.

Yelp
I've had Balade delivered for dinner twice and as of last night, have eaten there twice. So far, it's some the best Lebanese / Mediterranean food I've had in Manhattan. First time we got delivery, we were astounded by the freshness, high quality, and deep flavors and knew we had to visit in person. Luckily, both times were with friends so I got to hear about the meat specialties they enjoyed! Our waitress Isla last night and a gentleman from last time were both great at providing a welcoming and friendly dining experience. The interior is warm and feels like an old world cellar of sorts. The manager I saw running around deserves a round of applause for what he does to keep that small space running so smoothly. Everything I've Tried at Various Points: *Classic Margarita *Beirut Beats/Zaatar Manakeesh (Lebanese pizza) *Mezze Supreme Assortment (hummus, baba ghanouj, labne, mouhamara, kebbe krass, sfiha, makanek, and halloumi cheese) -- didn't try the meat-filled appetizers *Pickled Vegetables *Warak Einab (dolmas) *Lentil Soup *Artichoke Salad *Rkakat (fried, cheesy phyllo rolls) *Fattoush *Falafel *Balade Fries + Balade Rice *Shankleesh (aged cheese, herbs, zaatar) *Fatayir (like spanakopita) *Fafet Shrimp (incredible yogurt sauce) *Loubiye Bzeit (stewed-like green beans) *Lebanese Salata *Kenafa + Baklava Desserts Friends Have Ordered and Raved About: *Mixed Grill Platter (beef, lamb, chicken, veggies, pita) *Shish Tawook (chicken, veggies, rice) *Lamb Hummus Favorites are: lentil soup, fatayir, loubiye bzeit, baba ghanouj, fafet shrimp, and warak einab. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu it seems. I do suggest making a reservation. Huuuge fan of Mr. Semaan's vision and am happy to have recently found out about Balade Your Way nearby which is their fast-casual, small-menu sister restaurant that I'm hyped to eventually grab lunch from!

Yelp
I celebrated my friend's birthday here. It had a nice vibe and they turned off the lights when brining out our cake. The food itself was pretty mediocre. I enjoyed the Lamb Hummus and pita. The chicken mediterranean pizza was also unique and yummy. But the other dishes were nothing special.

Yelp
My cousin and I popped in here for a quick drink before I finally destination for the night. Eftalya made me an excellent Negroni. Very friendly service! The owner is also chill and comped us a drink. Very chill and relaxed environment. I can't wait to come back and try the food!

Yelp
Had a chance to come to Balade with a dinner with friends and I absolutely enjoyed it. This is a cute trendy spot with really good middle eastern food so if you are craving kabobs this is your place! We ended up being seated quickly as we had a reservation earlier, and ended up ordering: *hummus with lamb - this was fresh and delicious and came with warm pita - it was a lovely combination, and enjoyed every bite! The lamb was also soft and juicy *babaganoush - this was also delicious and flavorful, I couldn't stop eating it! * kabob combos - we got both the combos - and I loved all the variety of meats from lamb chops to the steak as well as chciken, beef and the minced meat kabob. All the flavors were different in their own way and love how there was grilled veggies too. The table loved it Overall food was delicious and juicy and we also loved the wine there as well. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
They don't skimp on the pre-fixe / unlimited portions option and the food is tasty. Some of the better Mediterranean appetizers I have had with a unique take on several traditional dishes. The staff were very friendly and handled our large party well, but it was pretty disorganized and took a long time for them to seat us despite having a reservation.

Yelp
Food was good and service was friendly. It did take a while for the food to come out though.

Yelp
We were there last week for our friend birthday dinner. We had a good time and the food is great. After we done we asked the server for check and on our bill it said something about OPERATIONAL FEE!!!! We asked the server about it and he said he can't take the fee away from our check since the manager is not available at the moment! This is BS... total Bullshit! All of us who dined there is working in the restaurants business for over 15 years and we as a restaurant worker would never charge the customers with the fee that Called as a OPERATIONAL FEE!!!!! We asked the server to take the fee away but he refused so we decided just to go with it since we don't want to ARGUE w the people who work there and I'm still working at the restaurant business and don't want to make any scene!!!

Yelp
This Lebanese restaurant has an extensive menu with lots of tempting options. It's very vegetarian and vegan-friendly. To start, we had the baba ghanouj and grilled halloume. The eggplant was creamy and light. It was served with warm mini pita breads and tasted very fresh. The halloume was smoky and flavorful. It came with three pieces of cheese which was a bit of a small portion size so my only complaint was wanting more! For my main, I had the falafel sandwich with fries. The dish was quite large and definitely enough for leftovers. The sandwich itself was a bit dry. When we asked for sauces, they provided both a garlic and tomato sauce. The garlic was whipped and fluffy with a hint of spice. It complemented the sandwich well. The tomato sauce didn't have too much flavor, but did improve the texture of the sandwich. The fries were extra skinny shoestring style. They could've been a tiny bit crispier, but were pretty tasty. One of my friends got the fatet shrimp and loved it, but the shish tawook and meat shawarma were dry. Overall, I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Yelp
I had a good time when eating here, why? the ambiance was great since they were playing some Arabic classic songs we grew up listening to, bringing some nostalgia with it. The service was top-notch, as we got checked on regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, can't complain. Will be back!

Yelp
We made a reservation for 8pm, showed up at 7:50pm, but were only seated close to 9, so you can imagine how inconvenient the night was. (-2) The chaos at Balade makes me wonder if the reservation system even works because we were not the only incoming diners complaining. For starters, the restaurant was packed. Typically I would consider this a good sign but in their case, maybe not because of how mismanaged the wait was. At one point, it got so busy, and the entry was clogged with so many- servers, incoming diners, passerby's etc., and a server dropped a who piece of chicken leg that brushed past a woman, who was waiting her turn to be seated. It was aggravating to see, not the accident, but the mismanagement and overbooking that caused this sort of commotion. Just because we were a large party of 7, we continued waiting because of how hard getting a new reservation last minute on a Friday night would be. The host tried to make up for it by offering a glass of wine (+1 for that) to our group while we waiting but it didn't do much for us since he said we would be seated within 10 minutes of that but the 10 turned into 30. (-1) Once seated, the order in which the food arrived was all jumbled up (-1). The food also, could have been better. The pita and manakeesh were good (+1), but the meat in the platter tasted a little overcooked. The fries were well seasoned. The portion of garlic toum that came with the whole platter was underwhelming. While the hummus with vegetables did taste nice, the portion was too small compared to the accompanying pita- I spy a business ploy to order more hummus to keep up with the pita supply. I was left disappointed by the end of the night so clearly my experience was not positive.

Yelp
A group of friends and I arrived at 6:45 on a Thursday by reservation. The restaurant was pretty empty, but by the time we left around 8:45, it was packed, so I do think a reservation is the way to go. To start, we had the Labne w/ Toum to for the table. This came with fresh mini pitas. The labne was delicious and had a lovely smooth texture. For entree's we had the fattoush salad with chicken, a shwarma sandwich with a side of fries, and a shish tawook sandwich with a side salad. We all enjoyed our entrees, well cooked and flavored meat, a great complimentary hot sauce, and a slightly sweet fattoush salad dressing that really hit the spot. Service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend if you're craving lebanese/middle eastern food in the area.

Yelp
I have had the pleasure of visiting Balade on multiple occasions, and the food has been an absolute delight. The variety of dishes offered is truly impressive, and each one has been cooked to perfection. From the succulent Shish Tawook to the delectable Shrimp, every dish was bursting with flavor. The Tarboush Chicken, Moudardara, Chicken Seekh Shawarma, and Mloukhie each delivered a unique and memorable culinary experience. Balade is a must-visit for any foodie, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!! Balade is a small, easy to miss restaurant that often goes overlooked for other East Village standards like Au Za'atar and Horus Cafe. However- the food really stands out from the rest. Incredibly flavorful soujouk and labneh starters. Every bite brought in a different element/level to the dish. The chicken shawarma salad is perfect for people who are craving that special shawarma taste without the heaviness of rice or fries on the side. The mixed grill platter was heavenly. Quality of meat throughout the meal was some of the best I've had in the city. We unfortunately were seated at a table facing the wall, and interacted with a couple stand offish employees, but very eager to come back to put the fifth star back in place.

Yelp
Balade has authentic and delicious Mediterranean food. It reminds me of homemade cooking when going to someone's house who knows how to cook. We got the beef kafta platter that comes with mixed grilled vegetables and this rice and noodles dish, along with chopped onions and parsley on the side. It also came with pita. They are super nice there because we called to request to switch out some of the grilled vegetables and they happily did it. The portion is large and filling. That one plate costs $28 and was enough for 2 people. Next time I would get extra rice, because that rice is special. It's right up there with my love for garlic rice and sticky coconut rice. Very few Mediterranean places even make that kind of rice and vermicelli noodle dish. Now I'm in the mood for it, lol.

Yelp
I came on a Friday and did their bottomless mimosas with two friends. I'm not sure if they offer the bottomless on weekdays, but I won a giveaway so they possibly made an exception. Either way, it was a great bottomless! We all got sandweechet; two kafta ones and one meat shawarma one. The sandwiches were packed with meat and veggies adn were really good! We also shared an order of chicken wings which were seasoned very well and grilled nicely. I wish I got the name of the waiter, but he was soooo kind. He was super accommodating and constantly checked up on us. Such a sweet guy and we tipped him well for his amazing service. The interior is nice and they also offer outdoor seating as well!

Yelp
Great food. Waitress was nice and responsive. Would come again. It's a tried and true local spot

Yelp
Came here with a group of 8 and they were very accommodating to move table around for us in their small space. We got a good spot outside. We ended up ordering a bunch of items off the menu to share. We were able to try a little of everything! It was all delicious and I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Balade is a cozy, lively spot and would recommend but not my favorite of all Mediterranean places! Good for date nights and mid size groups. The food was great, not amazing, and the service was extremely fast. We received our food in what felt like 5 minutes! balade fries - 5/5 Labneh bi touh - 5/5 Chicken wings - 3/5, great flavor but a lot of char and hard to eat Kebbe kras - 2.5/5 Pizza sampler - 4/5
google avatar

Shirin P.

Yelp
Excellent food! Started the meal with Fatayir with spinach and feta and shared the supreme mixed grill for our main dish. Mixed grill comes with fries and we added a side of rice. One of the best middle eastern meals I've had. Meat melted in our mouth, especially the steak, and the juicy bread under the meats was an added bonus. Service was a little slow but they were very busy. Dining room is small so if you are given an option get a table outside because some of the main dishes come sizzling and it could get smoky and tight in the dining room general. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Yelp
Great experience. Our server Diana was fantastic. Our first time here so we took all her recs. She was also helpful keeping the order gluten free (celiac). - Halloumi cheese app, beef Kafta, and sish tawook for entrees. All fantastic.

Yelp
Took my husband there for his birthday. The food was pretty good overall. Here is what we ordered and what we rate it. Hummus w/ lahme- meat was very nice & tender 10/10 Pita pizza- (shawarma)- 9/10 nice & crunchy. Filling. A bit burned on the edges. Was falling apart. Supreme mix grill- (came with Beef Kafta, Lamb kabab, chicken Tawook and lamb chops, Rib Eye Steak covered with bread) Beef kafta- 4/10. Lacked flavor & was dry. Lamb kabab- 7/10 pretty tender & tasty Chicken tawook- 8/10 Ribeye steak 8/10 Our favorite was the lamb chops. Very tender. Very tasty. Amazing 10/10 Order came with fries. Fries are too small. Most of them burned & hard.

Yelp
We love Balade! Outdoor seating is really nice and everything was so delicious. We love the late night happy hour

Yelp
Amazing service, almost too attentive ;) Had an incredible spread of Lebanese favorites that felt like home- manakeesh lahme baajin, mezze sampler, and sincere for dessert. Will definitely return for seconds!

Yelp
Not great. This is your run of the mill middle eastern restaurant except the price tag is 2x. Came here with some friends and was surprised by the prices given the portion size. When our server told us that a dish that costs upwards of $80 is good for 2 people, I was pretty shocked. The food itself was okay... just fine. I expected it to be a knockout given some of these other reviews and what they were charging. We ordered a few dishes including a zaatar flatbread, the mixed grill, and the chicken shawrma. The shawrma came disassembled which was wild to me and wasn't that great. The mixed grill was average to good. However, the zaatar flatbread was atrocious. I know what zaatar is supposed to taste like and this wasn't it. Felt like a watered down version (how??) Though overall, the service was ok I felt we were being rushed out the entire time and several times throughout the meal I felt a bit of pressure from the staff to vacate our table. And we weren't even dining that long. Overall, this is a hard pass for me. Would not recommend.

Yelp
What a nice find! I was checking my neighbor and found this cute spot by accident. Decided to try the dinner. We walked in and right away we were greeted with friendly bartender and a lady. Welcome ambiance. It was busy but got a table right away. We ordered soup, hummus with lamb which was to die for, and kafta for the main dish. We enjoyed everything including baklava! Will definitely come back to try other dish!

Sarah K.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant and plenty of outdoor seating. Our servers were very quick and friendly, and our food came out in a timely manner. My friends and I ordered the phyllo rolls, hummus, and the supreme platter which comes with a mixture of meats and side of fries. All the meats were cooked with perfection - tender beef and lamb chops, juicy chicken and kebab pieces. Everything was so good! I only wish the supreme platter came with a side of rice! Love the buttery rice but had to order it on the side PS - make a reservation

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday for a 5:30 reservation for a party of 2. We were seated immediately. The place was pretty empty. The ambience was very nice. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our water was continuously filled. We ordered the Kebbe Kras for appetizer and the Balade mixed grill for the main dish and shared it. The Kebbe Kras was very good. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The inside of it had a very mild flavor, and it was very savory and had a good balanced nutty taste. The yogurt dill sauce it came with it, balanced it out with a some brightness. The Balade mixed grill was very tasty. All the meats had good flavor and were tender. The French fries were also good. They were thin and crispy. Overall, everything was tasty, but the portions were not good as they did not give the amount of food you pay for.

Yelp
I will start by saying that the food here is WAYYY better than the service and the service is the reason why this isn't a 4/5 star. First, we ordered some drinks to start. I had gotten some fruity mimosa (I forgot the name/don't see it on their online menu). It came with a little black floating bug and an ice cube and so I told our server that there is something black in my drink. He said, "Yeah, it's an ice cube.." like okay thank you for that sir lol My friend asked for tzatziki when his sandwich came out. It took them 30 minutes to bring it out. By the time they did, he already had finished his entire sandwich. We were the only table in the entire restaurant. For my food, I shared the Hummus Lahme which came with pita. This was actually amazing - the flavors were great and the meat was such a nice edition. For my main, I got the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich. Also pretty quality. I wish this place had better service because the food truly is quite good.

Yelp
This restaurant was absolutely incredible. The ambience was amazing and the food very flavorful. We ordered off of the Prix fix menu and were able to try every dish. Our waitress Talia did a great job and was always quick to take care of us. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The best Lebanese food you can get! The bottomless mimosas and family style is incredible! Strongly recommend eating here. Food, service, and vibe is incredible especially for the price. The managers are so fun and are approachable. Fantastic spot! We also came for my friends birthday and they sing, give sparklers, did fun music. We were here for awhile and no one tried to put a time limit on us. You need to eat here! Incredible food, fun and professional staff, and the energy/ background music is a vibe

Yelp
Food is amazing, but the service is what makes this place a truly special trip. Upon walking and sitting down, it feels like you're at a dinner party at a good friend's house. Highly recommend and will be back!

We went to Balade for my brother's birthday dinner and had a wonderful time! We ordered the meat shawarma, supreme grill, hummus and sambousik and all were very delicious! George was our server and he was very attentive and helpful. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely be coming back and I highly recommend!

Yelp
I grew up in the middle east eating Lebanese food. I now live in New York and eating in Balade took me back to that authentic Lebanese food. Thanks George for recommending those awesome menu! Great service & beautiful ambiance.

Yelp
Let me begin by pointing out that this is not a place for quiet conversation. Or moderately loud conversation. This is Shouty Central. This is close to an OSHA violation. The food is good. Watery tabbouleh aside, meats are excellent quality and well prepared. Baba ganoush is not a strong point. Fresh pita is nice, and the zaatar flatbread was pretty good. The lentil soup tasted only of lemon juice. I cannot tell you what anyone in my party of four said for over an hour. I could not hear it. I cannot tell you what the waiter said, because he visited only once. If I needed water, I would have had to go to the bodega across the street. But I digress. Busy night. They have a good, but uneven kitchen. Decent portions, reasonable prices. I would come again on a quieter weeknight.

Yelp
Amazing food. Home cooked and truly authentic. The service was incredibly attentive, they didn't rush you, and were so polite. Will 100%% come again. $35 bottomless brunch and the meat was cooked perfectly - juicy and tender. Will definitely be attending again and recommending wide. Thanks, Balade.

Yelp
We visited on a Sunday night and got in easy. Excellent middle eastern food with both inside and outside seating. Many mezze appetizers to choose from-we had the grape leaves and falafel along with hummus and baba ghanooj. Main dishes also wonderful. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Wonderful service, delicious food, small delicate space. I wanted to try everything but had to be selective because this place is expensive! The lamb was superb. Please try this wonderful restaurant.
