The 11 Best Cocktail Bars In Manchester - Manchester - The Infatuation

"Manchester, like any other city with a self-respecting tiny beanie contingent, has had a craft beer revival in the past decade. Pomona Island is our pick in Greater Manchester, but for a taproom in the city centre, it’s hard to beat Balance. Unlike other spots in the “Beermuda Triangle” industrial estate that made their name in hazy IPAs, it specialises in tart, lively sours fermented with local yeast. Balance, in the old railway arches behind Piccadilly station, also stands apart for feeling downright cosy, with Persian rugs over polished concrete, an electric fireplace, lots of John Coltrane playing, and rarely a crowd compared to the cacophonous taprooms down the road. Choose a bottle, or, better yet, from a rotating list of draught beers. Recent favourites include the raspberry-infused Ripple, so vibrant you can almost feel the berry’s fuzz, and the peaty Chisel cider, aged in old whisky barrels." - becky cooper

A really nice spot! Lovely vibe, chill staff, great selection of beers (highly recommend the hazy ale). It's really nice to sit outside and watch the world go by (great for tram watching).@ The only downside is that there's only 1 bathroom for the entire venue, making it difficult to access when it gets busier.

A cracking pub/brewery. Although it's mainly sour beers and some quite whacky tastes so may not be for all. However I loved it. When I go to Manchester again I will be returning.

I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to come here given I live so close to it. Glad I did! Their style of wild fermented beers are right up my street & top notch. Very balanced indeed. Friendly & approachable staff (owners). I shall make it a regular haunt.

Top class. Felt like I was in Brussels. Relaxing atmosphere, welcoming hosts and tasty beers.

I’ve been drinking their beer when I can find it for a while, and went to a meet the brewer at the Bear in Sheffield last year. It was great to be able to visit their taproom - a great place, highly recommended. It was somewhat entertaining watching larger groups primarily ordering lager. Give their beers a go, they’re great at what they do!

A lovely taproom and a welcome addition to Manchesters, already thriving brewery / taproom scene. An lovely ambience and a nice relaxed spot to enjoy their wonderful beers. A good selection but a little different with their saisons, limbiks and sours.

So great to see this open in Manchester! Love that you can see inside the brewery and the bar has a great atmosphere when you walk in. Just round the back of Piccadilly station so easy to find. Highly recommend a visit.

I was seriously impressed by the service and knowledge of the staff here. They were genuinely interested in trying to have me sample the beers, and they did a great job talking about how the beers were made and what went into each glass. The beers were also fantastic and I had a great time - taproom was bumping, everyone enjoying themselves.
