Beautiful amazing Park that hosted the 1915 World's Fair, with many many buildings still around from that time. Free guided tours given. The guided tours are very enjoyable and please tip well as they are volunteers

5/5 Stars: Pure Joy at Balboa Park in San Diego with family. Oh, what a day it was! We recently spent an unforgettable afternoon at Balboa Park in San Diego, and it was truly a day filled with joy, laughter, and wonder. The sun was shining bright, casting a warm glow over the entire park, and we couldn't wait to explore all that it had to offer. As soon as we arrived, our little one's eyes lit up when they received a balloon from one of the vendors, and their smile just kept growing throughout our visit. We strolled through the beautiful Spanish-style buildings, admiring the stunning architecture and taking in the lively atmosphere. The sound of live music filled the air, adding to the park's infectious energy. We were blown away by the park's beauty, from the picturesque water fountains to the vibrant gardens. Every corner seemed to hold a new surprise, and we couldn't get enough of it. We didn't have time to visit the nearby San Diego Zoo or any of the museums on this trip, and we're already planning our next adventure back to Balboa Park. If you're looking for a day filled with joy, wonder, and excitement, look no further than Balboa Park in San Diego. It's a must-visit destination for anyone looking to create unforgettable memories with family and friends. We can't wait to go back and experience it all again! **One Note:** While Balboa Park is truly a gem, it's worth noting that there are some homeless people in the area. While they didn't bother us during our visit, it's something to be aware of, especially if you're visiting with young children. Despite this, we still highly recommend Balboa Park as a must-visit destination in San Diego.

Beautiful architecture, beautiful purchasable items. There's not much to say other than "Yep, it's a gift shop" and a gift shop with good service. You can buy Balboa Park passes at the shop, which I highly recommend to those who live two hours away. A great start to entering one of California's most beautiful city parks!

The San Diego Balboa Park Bell Tower, officially known as the California Tower, is an iconic landmark in San Diego, California. Located in Balboa Park, it was constructed for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. The tower is part of the California Building, now housing the San Diego Museum of Us. Standing 200 feet tall, the tower's architecture blends Spanish Colonial Revival and Baroque styles, featuring intricate tile work and ornate carvings. Visitors can climb the tower for stunning views of the park and the city. The tower also chimes every quarter hour, adding to its charm.

Make the Visitors Center your first stop when visiting the multiple museums, walks, gardens, art galleries, and events in Balboa Park. Their free park map is quite helpful. In addition to a manned by volunteer info. desk, you can buy some small gifts and cards in their gift shop.

Yelp
We sometimes stop by the Balboa Park Visitors Center to grab brochures and explore the little gift shop. The staff is always nice, and there are some really cute things in the gift shop. Located near the Prado Restaurant, this Visitors Center is fairly easy to miss. Since there is so much to see in Balboa Park, I'm so glad that they have several knowledgeable employees working here. The gift shop contains a small selection of cute souvenirs. There are also drinks, snacks, and some great books on Balboa Park and the surrounding San Diego area. We are planning on getting the Passport to Balboa Park the next time we are here. If you like Balboa Park as much as we do, this Visitors Bureau Center is worth a stop when you are here!

Yelp
If you're coming from the cruise port and decide to walk like we did, it's about two miles and there's not much to look at. Which is why we stopped at the visitor's center to ask about taking public transportation back. The ladies were very friendly and helpful. We found plenty of flyers, coupons and information packets to help us explore Old Town Santa Diego.
